So he like school uniforms, huh? Had I known I would have worn a pleated skirt and knee socks to the Q&A!!!
Whats up with the caption under the one picture of him sitting saying " the charmingist drunk man ever and the drunkest charming man ever",.??? That comment makes me giggle.
Damn. I KNOW that Steak N Shake well!!! Got lunch there more times than I can count. Didn't know Alan was the Steak N Shake sort!! Furthers my assumption that he stayed at the Hilton at the corner of Kirby and Neil! But NO, I didn't go check.
Sorry, my fault. You can go to those sites and see the thumbnails, I don't hve time to repost them right at this second. Will try later.
It just dawned on me that that guy must have some association with Sigourney. *duh*
LOL...Sue, it's funny that you should mention Madika's site! She's great, isn't she? I get so many of my icons from her! She really is a dear person!
Ok, i have to admit it. I like the striped pants,,,,,,,,hmm, stripes do make one look thinner,,,,,,,off i go to buy a pair of striped pants.......see you.
Just got in from a wonderful day on the river with temps in the mid 70's. Thanks for all the birthday wishes and now I can have fun catching up on all the great reports and pix (and stubble
)
WHO is that guy standing next to him in that first FLickr pic - the one he looks to be laughing with?? That is the same guy that was with he and Sigourney last year as they exited the Snow CAke premiere...!
Ahh those "eye contact" moments! Makes your spine turn to jelly. Thanks for these AMAZING pictures!!
Many happy returns, Sue. Hope you have a lovely day.
I think thats it, there must be another shaving scene when he gets back to London as Melanie Parker did say something like he is going to resume filming when he get back,,,,,i think,. You know, thats trust, eh. He obviously is getting a real shave from Johnny or he wouldnt have real stubble,,,, just dont slip Johnny.
Wow,,,,,,,what a way to wake up.Great pictures and stuff guys......thanks Claudia, your the best. I just love it when a drought is over,,,,,,
Wonderful pictures! You know, I noticed that when I met him the other night, when I was up close, that he hadn't shaved. He had this grey/white stubble. I thought, well, it was a long day. But then I notice on the Today Show he looked stubbly then too! And in these pictures also! Is this his new look? Is he trying to grow a beard? Hmmmm.
Thank you for the video clip, Claudia, and thank you for the photos, sue.
Claudia I can´t open it.
I´m waiting for the youtube version
Hey is everyone ok in England? Heard about the earthquake???? Is that normal for England? Hope everyone is safe. Watch out for after shocks. Barb
I dont know about you guys but he can show up at my door anytime looking like a "drowned rat".....and i love the scruffy look and the hair, that man does improve with age. I also feel that there is a great connection between the two, kinda like when hem and Emma get together and do a movie or an interview....there great together.......
My Alan experience has been logged! Or at least as well described as I can manage in mere human words. http://snokat.livejournal.com/ I'm looking forward to hearing what Dee and LIT might say about their experience!
I dunno, the more I look at it that GB entry does have a lot of characteristics of his writing. But that capital A doesn't match. But, it's interesting that the entry is admiring a font, seeing his background in typography....
Looks suspiciously like AR's handwriting, doesn't it...?
I finished my postcard over the weekend and took it back to the gallery on Monday afternoon. The clothes shop was open, but the basement was completely deserted. At first I felt stupid standing all alone inside the gallery, but then I decided to use the situation to my advantage and to take a closer look at the ominous "Noise" postcard. The back side turned out to be especially revealing:

Besides a nice little autograph of our favourite actor it also contained what appeares to be Melanie Parker's private (?!) address (which I won't give to anybody, so please don't ask). I wonder what I should make of that...?
And yes, I put the card back on the wall again, even though the temptation was almost overwhelming. After that I rewarded myself for my honesty with a big slice of chocolate cake from Pret a Manger...

He is droll, but regally so, free of the aw-shucksisms that American actors affect, which renders him less immediately accessible and infinitely more authentic. He is also ridiculously, nay, ridonkulously attractive, even more so than on screen. Ah, starf***ery.

Dogs and Bones
After a few days of war
the Sarajevo streets were a catwalk for dogs:
perfumed dogs, well-groomed dogs, dogs
with cut-glass collars
and not a flea between them. Their owners
had left them as they left
the burning city.
The trash-heaps became
a battlefield where the lapdogs lost
to an army of strays, lean-limbed
and mangy with hate.
Cowering and cleansed, the back-alley refugees
retreated to the doorways
of locked apartments, barking in answer
to each unearthly whistle
as the morning shells came in.
one of those locked apartments
where we kicked down the door, searching
for a bastard sniper and found
the skeleton of an old woman fused
to a kitchen chair, yes, merged with the wood.
She had starved to death
sitting next to a pantry crammed with cans of food.
We spent a long time debating the crucial issue
of her religion. Yackety-yack. We could get no clue
from the photos that littered the place,
or the needlepoint of a knight
and castle, or the hundred
bottles of perfume placed around her bed.
Her piously folded hands remained a secret.
It was dawn before the argument died out
and we carried her into the street where dogs
were fighting amid the garbage--
nothing they wouldn't risk,
nothing they wouldn't eat. Who cares,
anyway? Who knows
whether she even believed in God? 'By God,
God will find his hands full
after this war," someone said, and we fell
silent, pretending not to see
her silly grin, and the sudden silver glint
of the can-opener on its chain
around her neck.
Beginning After EverythingAfter I buried my mother
under fire, I sprinted from the graveyard
after the soldiers came with my brother
wrapped in a tarp
I gave them back his gun
after the fire in the eyes of my children
as they ran to the cellar
the rats ran ahead of them
after I wiped the old woman's face
with a dishtowel
terrified to reveal a face I knew
after the ravenous dog
feasting on blood
just another corpse in snipers' alley
after everything
I wanted to write poems like newspaper reports,
so heartless, so cold,
that I could forget them, forget them
in the same moment that someone might ask me,
'Why do you write poems like newspaper reports?'
Christmas'I'm blind,' I say. I don't speak again
for a very long time. Of course,
I'm lying about being blind: if I look
out of the window, to where
the children are singing carols, I see
how the snow seems to fetch a rainbow;
I see frozen songbirds fall
from the branches; I see a butcher haul
a slaughtered lamb down the street.
It is night. An icon burns in the stove.
There's a seamless drone from the airport
that makes me want to weep.
'I am blind,' I say, 'I am blind.'
She doesn't say a word. She beats
the Devil's tattoo on the tabletop.
'I've forgotten,' I whisper. I don't speak again
for a very long time. Of course,
I'm lying about having forgotten: I think back
to hoofprints in the snow and dogs on a leash.
It was a manhunt. I remember my father laughed
when I barked at the birds.
'Have you ever noticed how a vacuum-cleaner sounds
like a plane in take-off, or how
a TV left on too long will fix a room
with a hot and heavy smell? Have you noticed
the depth of frost?' I ask her.
'Have you noticed this incredible frost at all?'
She's got nothing to say for herself.
She might not have heard.
I won't speak again. I'll sit here and watch
the traffic lights adapting endlessly
to whatever's best. That's me, I'm just like that.
A whole universe buzzed above
the control tower: isn't that strange?
Fish in the depths are strange--the way they live.
The smell of hay in an orchard
is too strange for words. Now and then,
someone winks from the bottle:
the genie, the Puck of plum brandy.
'Can you see me?' I ask. 'Can you see me any jot
of me, any tittle?' She nods, but of course
she's lying. As if I cared, as if
she could understand the half of what I say.
Sarajevo SpringIt is spring again. The spring is coming.
It is coming in
on crutches. Swallows nest in the ruins.
Someone has strung a clothes-line
in the graveyard
and a hundred diapers semaphore the wind.
Peace surprised us: we needed more time
to pretend we deserved it, more time
to be 'the survivors',
as if we had plans, as if we knew
what next, as if
our dreams were not all of seagulls and the sea.
Peace is like a virus, a light fever.
Peace makes our Sunday suits
restless; it makes our shoes shuffle.
Soldiers wander the streets legless on slivovitz
asking, 'What next? What next?'
They won't go home
to collect their demob papers, they won't
hand in their uniforms;
well, what did you expect?
They needed more time, more time
like the boy we carred feet first from the movie-house,
wiped out by a happy ending.
like our neighbors, who've clean forgotten
how to keep a good row going;
like our local hero, a four-hundred-metre man,
who sits all day by the running track
in his wheelchair
as if it might suddenly come to him: what next.
Soon it will be medals and flags, a coat of whitewash
for the orphanage walls. The children carry
family albums with them
wherever they go. My friend carries
a child's winter glove. I think
he needs more time for this, more time, I think
peace has made us less than ourselves, and spring
is coming hobble-
clop, hobble-clop, hobble-clop.
Btw, my postcard is now being exhibited in London (the random project sent me a photo) hahaha in certain sense together with his OMG OMG OMG

http://adamselzer.livejournal.com Apr. 26th, 2007 | 07:37 amSo my brother and I were walking up Milwaukee Avenue the other day, and this guy came walking down the road, and I thought "man, that dude looks like some evil overlord from a sci fi movie or something." He had that sort of gravity about him. Then I realized, as we passed him, that it was Alan Rickman. That explained it.
I NEVER run into celebrities in the city - well, actually, I suppose I probably do, but I don't realize it's them. But there's really no mistaking Alan Rickman. He was giving off a glare which my brother, who lives in Hollywood, recognized immediately as the "for the love of Gd, don't talk to me" glare. Honestly, I'm not sure if he was glaring at us or if it was just a general glare and we sort of got caught in the tractor beam, but, man, when that dude glares at you, you stay glared at.

Nobel Son
Eli Michaelson (Alan Rickman), world-renowned chemist and a**hole, has just won the Nobel Prize, to his colleagues' chagrin. Meanwhile, his regrettably named son Barkley (Bryan Greenberg) gets by on $35 a week while he plugs away at his thesis on cannibalism. Eli hates Barkley. Barkley hates Eli. So when Barkley is kidnapped just as his father is leaving for Stockholm, who pays the ransom? Throw an obsessive- compulsive Danny DeVito and a criminally insane Eliza Dushku into the mix, and this frenetic, ungainly L.A. story becomes what might once have been called "a madcap romp." J.W.

Comments:SnoKat,
I just got home from a Borders store and was looking at "The Great Snape Debate" book. They devote an entire chapter to AR's portrayal of Snape and also give a pretty good and very complimentary overview of AR's roles as good/bad guys. They even go all the way back to when he was in the RSC. I didn't buy the book but am thinking about it. There were no pictures of AR since the book is really about the "book Snape". They also had free bookmarks with "Snape is Good"/ "Snape is Evil" on either side and a list of reasons. I snagged a couple of those!

Alan Rickman in the USA
Hi All,
I know that there were rumours of Alan Rickman attending a few things in the USA, just thought you would like to know I got confirmation this morning from Melanie Parker. Here is the relevant piece from the letter.
Mr Rickman is currently in Chicago to attend the Roger Ebert's Overlooked Film Festival where they are screening Perfume. Later in the week he will be attending Tribeca where Nobel Son is premiering on Saturday night. He will also be doing some press as Snow Cake is being released there on 27th April. As soon as he returns to the UK he will resume filming Sweeney Todd.
The Eagle has definitely landed!

Comments:Here is Ängela's advise regarding downloads from youtube from some time ago:Does anyone remember of a conversation last month or so about how to take download videos from yuotube? Well I found one.
Go to this link http://terrabrasil.softonic.com/file.phtml?&id_file=55984&action=view&view=downloads and click on "Baixar".
If you can't try this one http://terrabrasil.softonic.com/seccion/229/Video and click on VDownloader 0.3b and then on "Baixar".
What you are downloading is a program that allows you to search for the video and download it. I've tried and it works. Enjoy it
I'd try it immediately and downloaded many videos since then - it works,
thanks to you, Ängela !!!

Comments:@ Barbara, that's not so serious.
My real name is Ulrike, but most of the people call me Uli and I hate it, because Uli is also a manlier name (real expression?)
and I'm a Mama (mother), so I named myself rickimam.
I named myself Ricki, since I was four years old.

@Barbara, Ispellit, Carolyn and Angela, thanks for your best wishes.
4/22/07 at 04:06 AMComments:Good morning to everyone!
Carolyn:
Alfan: There is a very popular show in German TV called "Wetten, dass ..." could be "Bet that ...", maybe there is something similar in US-TV since many German shows are copies of American shows. People apply for being in the show to bet that they can do something so very difficult, nobody can imagine. For example: identifying colors of crayons by tasting them with blindfolded eyes ... or identifying all songs of the Beatles by hearing only 1 or 2 seconds of any song ... YOU would be terrific in it with your quoting- I would bet on you for sure!
rickimam: May I say my best wishes to for getting well soon! I daresay I can a bit of imagine what you are going through since I have some problems with my back myself. Fortunately I could avoid an operation up to now. I had (only) VERY painful inter dorsal cortisone injections and am now seeing a Chinese doctor for acupuncture since quite a while. That gives some abatement. Meanwhile I help myself as much as I can with physiotherapy and some other common therapies. So, all the best for you!

Comments:Welcome Angela ( official welcome to come from Claudia). You know, i was thinking the same thing. Why not more Snape, he is vital to the story..................then i realize thats our opinion because we really love Alan Rickman. Of course as fans we want more of him in the movie but i have to remember that its not Severus Snape and the Philosopher Stone or Severus Snape and the Chamber of Secrets and so on. This is Harry Potter's story and if you ask me there isnt enough Snape in the movies but as far as a non-Alan maniac like a few of my friends who are devoted Harry Potter fans they are ok with the amount of Snape in the movies. And they agree that at this point ( except for the occulmency lessons) that Snape is not as important as we Alan fans think he is...............that is until book six, even they agree that there is going to be more Snape/Alan time.
When i think about it there wasnt enough Alan in Sense and Sensibility " give me an occupation Miss Dahswood or I shall run mad". or Micheal Collins " I have only one thing to say and I want it to go out to the world", or An Awfull Big Adventure " dont you love me, just a bit" or Bob Roberts " excuse me, i must go pray" or Judas Kiss " Chief, the butler did it, im sorry it took me so long when the clues were so clear" or Quigly " are you certian Mr Quigly that you wouldnt like the bucket a little closer" or January Man " Just languish there darling, and dont molest anything"...
In my opinion, there is not enough Alan in many movies.

Comments:Ok, i just seen the trailer and i was correct. only pic of Snape is of him nailing Ron. ( whats with the teacher abuse, hee hee). Anyways, this is going to be a good movie, i think if we are expecting alote of Snape we are going to be dissapointed wich we already knew already. I mean he is going to be in it but not more than the other movies.. I cant wait to see this movie and i for one am going to admit i am going to probably cry at the end of this one, Remus holdiing Harry back as he yells Sirius is heartwrenching..........

Comments:Sounds like the only view of Snape we are going to see in this trailer is Snape hitting Ron,,,,,,,,,whats with that. I mean Snape should never be used as comic relief in these movies, he is a very bad man ( not evil ) but bad. ( i believe he is on the side of light). If we think he gets no time, i didnt even see McGonnagal on the discription of the trialer. It is going to have a couple really good things, like Remus holding Harry back after Sirius goes through the veil,,,,,,,,,,i cant wait till this movie comes out.I think i will be in Old Orchid Beach in Maine by then,i just hope they have a movie theatre......
Does anyone know yet when the NY premiere is?

Just heard a nice tribute on NPR's Weekend Editon Saturday for Roscoe Lee Brown. He will be familiar to AR fans because of his brief but memorable appearance as the chief of police in Judas Kiss. He was quite a prolific actor who was usually much better than the material he was acting in (to paraphrase reviewer Elvis Mitchell). Mr. Brown died last week at the age of 81.

April 27 - Cinema Village, NYC exclusively (originally was supposed to be April 25 w/other select cities, but it's been changed)
May 9 - Doris Duke Theatre, Honolulu
May 11 - Laemmle's Music Hall 3, Bever Hills, CA
Landmark's E.St. Cinema, Wash.D.C.
May 18 - Hollywood Theatre, Portland, Oregon
May 25 - Cinema Palme D'or - Palm Springs, CA
The rest of the country in July, 2007.

Did it this morning when i quoted " dont lie to me" before Snape even said it,,,,,,and Keith looked at me funny. I said " yes, i know the whole movie",,,,

Hikity, that was Hamptead Everyman we went to, that only does films I think.
Talking of soundclips I have Marvin saying "You could press that, but you won't like it" on my Recycle Bin!
It's quite easy to do. First of all have your soundclips in a folder somewhere. Then click on Start at bottom of page> then Control Panel> then Sounds & Audio Devices. A box will pop up with Volume, Sounds, Audio,Voice & Hardware tabs. Click on on Sounds and go to the Program Events box. Scoll down to the section you want eg New Mail Notification > click on that >then click browse and you can either choose standard sounds or import a sound from your folder then click OK and it should work!!

4/20/07 at 12:13 PMComments:Sigourney's interview on
The View was excellent. The hosts had seen the movie and were quite enthusiastic about it. At the very end of the interview, Sigourney mentioned that Alan Rickman was in the film and Rosie piped up "He's GENIUS in it, genuis!", and Elizabeth said, "He really is...". A number of clips were shown which included him (the orgasm clip is the one I can remember).
The interesting thing is that they wrapped the interview by saying that
Snow Cake will be released in New York on April 27, and in
other select cities throughout July.
What??!
4/20/07 at 11:51 AMComments:Oh,
Alfan, that's great *smile*, in fact I use .wav-files with quotes for incoming e-mails.

4/20/07 at 05:49 AMComments:Infos about the movie "Triomf" by the British filmmaker Michael Reaburn:
http://www.chico.mweb.co.za/art/2007/2007apr/070420-michael.htmlThe text says that AR was interested in taking part in that movie:
Quote:
Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Tim Roth and Richard E Grant were among those interested in taking part in Triomf, but the projected budget of €6,5-million proved impossible to raise even with such names. (It is now down to about a 10th of that.) “I thought it would be a piece of cake with those names,” says Raeburn, “but no. I was told, ‘Come back with Nicole Kidman and we’ll talk.’”
IMDB says in fact nothing about the actors involved now.

It looks like someone removed a watermark but didn't do a very good job of it. Here is the original pic from the DAF Jones website.

Comments:Thanks and welcome Ispellit, i didnt even know that Rima had a web-page. I have seen most of those pictures except the last one, but i giggled at the last one, because he looks like he forgot his dentures ( i know he doesnt have them, just saying) or he just swollowed a lemon wedge,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but its the only time i have seen him hold hands with Rima.

damn he is cute.
And i agree with you Vicki, i would love to add those to my wonderfull collection of pics without the watermarks. And i also love the white pants,,,,,,,,,he does like his pants tight wich is a blessing for us....and according to a sales lady in Pittsburgh when he was filming Dogma " he bought a pair of way to tight pants".

Comments: Dear fellows,
I just like to let you know that I’ve been a silent observer on this page for quite a while. (It actually was/is a lot of work to check out so many links to other sites… puhhh!)
But finally I found this one to be the most interesting site about AR for me, so rich in content !
I couldn’t stop laughing whilst reading Helen’s http://zootycoonlady.tripod.com/alan/index2.html
and also enjoyed Peekabooh’s and Catsplay’s sites very much, very much fun indeed! … and all the others – many thanks to all of you for offering so many pictures, videos, soundfiles and information about Mr. Rickman to the fanhood !
Although I’m quite sure you know this one already:

I hope I may stay with you
Take care.

sue, your finding is very interesting. Do you have time to go to the exhibition as you would get an answer about Noise I'm sure? Or may be Susan drives up to London? I think this is the only way to find out whether the postcard "Noise" is from the OooA or - as

Thanks to you all who have been posting info and photos.
Does anyone remember of a conversation last month or so about how to take download videos from yuotube? Well I found one.
Go to this link
http://terrabrasil.softonic.com/file.phtml?&id_file=55984&action=view&view=downloads and click on "Baixar".
If you can't try this one
http://terrabrasil.softonic.com/seccion/229/Video and click on
VDownloader 0.3b and then on "Baixar".
What you are downloading is a program that allows you to search for the video and download it. I've tried and it works. Enjoy it

We don´t know if this postcard is created by Alan or not, but I have to say it even can be. And I love people like sue (in this case) who are searching, discovering, posting to this place and share all their news with us.
I believe at it when there is a real evidence, but we have to start with something and sue did it. Now for next time we have something to do again. That´s not bad for such a drought.

Thank you so much for the link sue! Yes....you seek....you find...you post! That is what we are all about here!

I guess we'll not know whether this is AR's work or not unless someone wants to write Melanie Parker for an official confirmation.
As for my gut reaction, I find it hard to believe that AR would participate in something like this unless it was tied to one of his beloved charities. I may have missed something, but I didn't see anything that links this exhibition to any charities. But then again.....I have been wrong in the past, I could be wrong with this.....and I KNOW I will be wrong some times in the future! LOL
Anyway, I'm sorry the subject got a little tense. There really is no need for it because we all unite under the brolly of being a fan of the greatest living actor EVER!!!
Dumpy, please take any explanation of Imus over to the Discussion Party. I'm highly doubtful the news made it across the pond....why would it any way? Besides, I can't help but wonder why sue is the person you chose to query about it. I really can't understand your problem(s).
Thanks so much for the heads up, Carolyn! I've already tivoed the show! I'm sure she's hocking the same projects (which included
Snow Cake) as she did on Craig Ferguson a couple of weeks ago. But seeing her with "the girls" will be quite fun! I hope they will bring up AR!!!!
Barbara, congrats on finally getting SC in your cinema! And thanks for your thoughts. It is definitely the better to see it on the big screen! I hope
Perfume lands in NZ soon!
snow kid, I'm not sure we can answer your question about any AR extras on the UK
Perfume DVD at this time since it hasn't been released yet. Unless someone else has found a better description than I. I ordered mine from Amazon UK and there is nothing there that indicates there are extras on it. However, the UK
Snow Cake DVD had no indication it had extras and voila....there were! So all I'm doing at the time is crossing my fingers there will be.

Comments:I think, and I may be wrong, that secrecy spawns rumors. Most people enjoy guessing a puzzle correctly. What'd ya gonna do? AR is quite private.
CatsPlay, I see you as someone with a level head, skeptical when someone makes a doubtful statement, but your choice of words, "valid assumption" is kind of "cute"! I wish I knew who you really are, too. I have a few guesses, but rather not get into that in case you don't want to be known.
sue, I don't see AR's name under the "noise" pic below. I'm wondering what the purpose of this exhibit, too.
(On another note, I was wondering what you thought of the "Imus" story.)
I've tried making collages with the smilies, but they usually got deleted. Darn. Where are they showing the card maker's name?

Comments:Well, Snow Cake has finally come to NZ and this morning (it is Friday afternoon here) I went off to the 11 o'clock showing and enjoyed it very much. There were only 7 of us in the cinema. I loved the Canadian scenery and the sound track - some scenes didn't quite gel I thought but it was great to see it on a big screen . I bought the DVD from Amazon UK some while back but it was obviously much more satisfying seeing it in a cinema. Roll on "Perfume" !
4/12/07 at 09:04 PMComments:Wow Art Critic, you

4/12/07 at 08:39 PMComments:Thanks for the postcard info! It's so cute and seems not very hard to make. I just sent an email to get my random word!!
BTW, can anyone tell me if there is any feature involving Alan on the region2 perfume DVD?
| Art critic or somebody else | |
4/12/07 at 08:06 PMComments:Hahahaha! So touchy! SO very defensive! The instinct to protect poor widdle Alan rears up ... Hee-hee! Thanks for the laugh. You never disappoint!
Vera, ahem, ahem, where did I claim to be an art critic? That's just a fake name I used, like, oh, for instance, "Cats Play". That's not a real name is it?
And CatsPlay, I defer to your superior obsessive knowledge of everything related to Alan Rickman. Yes, yes, of course, this MUST have been made by him, because how could Teh Man be capable of anything less than sheer artistic genius!!!!!! Bravo!
4/12/07 at 07:42 PMComments:Since you claim to be an art critic - and not someone who just doesn't dare to post her real name - it's quite unnecessary to explain the collage, isn't it? I'll indulge you nonetheless. I think that the jumble, as you call it, represents the noise.
4/12/07 at 07:38 PMComments:Art Critic, I don't think I saw anyone
applauding.
Vera said it was
interesting and I said it was
'cool'. No one really commented at all on the quality of the artwork itself.
If you browse the photos for the random project on Flickr, each photo is entitled with the creator's name. Seeing that this one is entitled
Noise: Alan Rickman, and that it's a London based initiative, I think it's a valid assumption that this probably was created by him.
4/12/07 at 07:19 PMComments:If someone could explain why people are applauding this laughable jumble of cutouts, I would be grateful. It looks like the bottom of the wastepaper bin to me.
If he even made this (there is no confirmation of this anywhere on any of the links).
4/12/07 at 07:10 PMComments:That's very cool, Sue! I noted that the site says that the recipients had to choose a number between 1 and 100 and then that was how their word was assigned.
We could drive ourselves crazy trying to figure out why he picked 99.....!
4/12/07 at 06:27 PMComments:A very interesting find, Sue. Let's hope that we will find out more about it to know for sure that it was created by AR. The thoughtfulness of the work lets me believe that it might have been him, indeed.

Comments:Well, the news about OOTP just keeps getting worse. This is from contact music today:
HARRY POTTER movie makers are trimming the next installment of the fantasy franchise, fearful it's too long and will turn movie goers off. Following the failure of Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez double-bill Grindhouse, which is more than three hours long, studio bosses at Warner Bros have ordered director David Yates to cut the running time of Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix. Star Daniel Radcliffe insists the cuts are a positive thing, and fans will still be happy with the finished film. He says, "People should be able to let that go. You can still read the book and the film is chock-full of stuff."
4/12/07 at 05:46 PMComments:According to
this Canadian publication:
Quote:
Snow Cake . . . will be released on DVD in June.
It was new to me.
4/12/07 at 04:45 PMComments:Whilst browsing throug
Flickr I came across
THIS:

On further investigation I found it was part of an Arts project called
The Random ProjectQuote:
The Random postcards feature typographically-led responses to randomly-assigned words, created by participants from as far afield as Brazil, India, Russia and the US.
The project is open to all – people who've got involved so far include Dave Gorman, Ed Fella and Isabelle Parker (age 10).
If you'd like to join in and contribute a postcard (of ir you already have and you'd like to create more!) email a number between 1 and 100 to
postcard@random-project.co.uk and we'll send you back your Random word.
I was wondering if this was a Rickman entry? The URL beneath the picture takes you to his IMDb page. Curious, eh? Mabe he's been getting back in touch with his graphic side again?

Comments:"The Search for John Gissing" I believe I saw on a TV menu many years ago along with other AR movies, but it's vague because at that time I was not an AR fan. I also recall "Closet Land" and thought it a strange title and decided it must be a movie about fashion. "Blow Dry", "Dark Harbor", etc. many AR movie titles, and they were one quite regularly. I was surprised by all the fuss about having TSfJG released. I don't know if I watched it though. Only the DVD will show for sure.

Peekabooh, thanks for posting Karin's pics! They are wonderful to see! Karin, keep 'em coming dear! We love them!
Although I have already seen both
Perfume and
Snow Cake,
Perfume was finally screened here in my area for a very limited time. I did go see it as I swore myself to do...plus I've ordered the UK DVD of Perfume and already have the UK
Snow Cake DVD. So I can only say.....see....I'm true to my word!

Now if only
Snow Cake would get a screening here!
Now if only
Nobel Son and
Sweeney Todd would hurry up!
It looks like I need to do an eBay sweep again. I got word from a fan that there are some naughty auctions up again. Someone sold
Blind Corner. Since the site that had the files available has gone under, I will upload BC as soon as I can so no others will be gypped by the gutsy ebay sellers. I shall let you know when its up.
Sooooo the Gissing DVD is finally going to be offered to the masses, eh? All I can say is its about d**n time the Binders get off their bums with the film. Maybe it was the torrent of the film I spotted a while back that pushed them over the edge.

Sorry to be so negative girls but I really had my fill of the playing around that Gissing got through the years. I'm just glad that it will finally be offered to the masses of AR and Juliet Stevenson fans.

I havent been in here for awhile as personal things have taken priority and am enjoying all the pics, articles, etc. you guys have been posting-what a bunch of nice people here, no wonder I love to visit.
I have also been re-reading the last two HP books ootp which I just concluded over the weekend and am so glad I did, as I must have flown through it the first time and missed a lost of things. I am now ready to begin the HBP.
I want to be ready for the movie in July and for the new book.
Speaking of the new movie OOTP, if you purchase the movie Happy Feet, there is a sneek preview on there at the beginning before Happy feet begins and it has a scene (though short) with Snape!!! I watched it today and was so surprised to see that ad on there. I am glad I didnt just go to main menu on the DVD and let the ads play through..
Anyway, off to bed soon. Take care everyone and again thanks for all the goodies.

I haven't heard that, but it's not like I'm in the know. But, it hasn't been mentioned at the discussion forum at Sondheim.org where I lurk from time to time. And they seem pretty up on everything related to Sondheim. I think their moderator is in direct contact with him.

Hello everyone. I've been a reader for a long time but this is my first post. I wanted to say hi to fellow Rickman fans and thank everyone for all the latest information as well as photos! It brightens my day to come home and find new information or a new photo.
You have a great site here Claudia as well as a great group of people who are regulars/members.
As my first, and I hope not last, I wanted to share a photo but I can't get the photo to post. Instead, I've posted the link to it in my photobucket account. I hope that's ok. If it isn't, please delete my post.
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f302/IrishEmerald/AlanNightInterview.jpg
It is a photo of Alan from the allusive Alan Havey interview. I've searched as well but all I can find is this photo. Please delete if it has been posted before.
Thank you again, Claudia, for a great website. Keep up the great work!

Comments:I love the part in the commentary when Emma says that the horse Alan is riding up in at one point had its diet changed and was bloated. Alan had a hard time wrapping his legs around the bloated beast and had to put up with the horses untimely farts. I would be howling if i were them.
4/08/07 at 12:13 AMComments:Sno, I love Emma completely.
4/07/07 at 11:09 PMComments:Finally watched Sense & Sensibility with Emma's audio commentary tonight. LOVE Emma. She's just darling and funny and down to earth. She made a comment about Alan that I laughed out loud at. She was talking about Col Brandon being intense and mysterious and she says something to the effect of "Of course with Alan playing him he'd be mysterious. Alan would make the milk man mysterious!" Not much about him mentioned though. I did catch the part about cutting him singing with Maryann. Yeah, I do like that scene with him just creeping in and staring at her unnoticed.

Comments:Marlina - No, you're not ignorant, it is a bit confusing.
The Multinationals is a screenplay that Mike Binder has completed and eventually wants to film. It is also one of the many reasons why TSfJG has not been released up to this point.
According to the interview that
Chalebh found, after filming
Gissing he wanted to make some changes and do some reshoots. I don't know whether money was an issue or time or getting the original actors together or a combination of all of those, he doesn't elaborate -- but he never got to reshoot it the way he wanted. So he took the same basic story, rewrote it, and eventually plans to make a new film with a new cast. But it sounds like that film will still be a few years away. He has another film he wants to shoot first. But the good news is that he will be releasing TSfJG privately via his website. So, maybe all those fans who have hounded him about releasing
Gissing had an impact? It's possible......
4/07/07 at 03:18 PMComments:Vicki~ Hey there, I apologize for being ignorant... But what is The Multinationals?
4/07/07 at 02:41 PMWhat is your location? Los Angeles
Comments:Awesome find,
Chalebh! That's wonderful news!!! All of you who have been dying to see and own
The Search for John Gissing will now get the chance! I think Alan is just great in it and it really shows off his comedic talents.
Check out the clip on Binder's blog site (see link in
Chalebh's post). It's one of the scenes that made me laugh out loud in the theater.
What a wonderful way to ease the AR drought! I will be curious to compare the difference between
TSfJG and
The Multinationals if and when he ever films and releases it.
Oh, yeah!......such good news!!
Thanks again,
Chalebh!

4/07/07 at 01:15 PMComments:I lost a little bit the track of things. Maybe someone has posted this news before. There is a link to an interview with Mike Binder in which he says:Quote:
MC: What's happening with The Search for John Gissing? I've heard stuff about a DVD for that...
Binder: I'm gonna release it myself on DVD, right on my website, here in about a month or so.
The whole interview you'll find here:http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/arthouse/archives/2007/03/talking_to_mike.php And there is also a notice on his Blog (scroll a little bit down, right above the movie clip) http://www.myspace.com/the_mike_binder Do you think we can hope? If so a Happy Easter

will be a hit because
A. AMAZING story
B. INCREDIBLE music
C. Major star power = Johnny Depp
D. We can pretty much count on good acting
E. Based on a hit musical, so all of us who are obsessed with the Broadway musical will be seeing the movie.
4/05/07 at 10:30 PMWhat is your location? New York
Comments:Oh,I definitely agree! I thought it was odd that they were marketing the screening as the "US Premiere".
Considering how many "stops & starts" this movie has had, I find it interesting that it's still being promo-ed as a "premiere"!
I have a feeling that "Nobel Son" is going to have the same track record (whether unfortuately or not for Alan!)
For 2007 so far, I think, IMHO, his "so-called hits" are going to be Harry Potter & Sweeney Todd (although the jury is still out on that)
4/05/07 at 09:15 PMComments:Thanks Carolyn. That's nice, but I don't think it can be classified as the US 'Premiere', as it screened a year ago at Tribeca. I believe Tribeca classified it as the 'US Premiere' at that time. Just sayin'.

CatsPlay, there have been a lot of us looking for that Allan Havey interview for years but to no avail. My gawwwd, if you find it or hear of anything, please let us know!
I'll be back as soon as I can!
4/05/07 at 01:46 PMComments:Am I going? Hmmm, I don't know... maybe.. if I don't have anything else planned.
If I have to crawl every mile!!!!!! Which I won't, it's a quick drive, I can stay with old friends. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning for Perfume. The Festival passes have been sold out since NOV of last year! But I honestly don't care about seeing the other stuff. I just can't seem to find out for sure if there is any sort of Q&A connected to the movie viewing. I honestly don't care about seeing the movie again. But I'd sit through 24 hours of American Idol to get to hear and see Alan in the flesh.
I've already started thinking what to wear!
4/05/07 at 01:36 PMComments:Hi,
are we too much Alan fixated or is he really the only actor to go "on tour" with the movie "The Perfume". I haven't heard anything about Dustin Hoffman or Ben Whishaw being a special guest on festivals. Are they not interested or is it not in their contract or are they too busy with other things?
I just wondered when I read about the scheduled appearances.

Comments:Just as as an FYI, there have been alot of reports circulating within the past two days that Alan is going to be attending Roger Ebert's "Overlooked Film Festival" in Champaign/Urbana,Illinois on April 26 in conjunction with the showing of "Perfume". The festival runs from April 25-28 (I think). I haven't been able to get any other info as of yet.
Actually, that would coincide with the showing of "Nobel Son" at the Tribeca Film Festival in NY.
4/04/07 at 08:58 PMComments:Yeah, I had no delusions that Alan willing let anyone kick him in the nads for a film role or anything else. I was just commenting on the thought someone had thrown out.
4/04/07 at 07:55 PMWhat is your location? Munich
Comments:Must have been a misunderstanding:
I never wanted to mention, that he was really kicked or their fight was real. It only SEEMED very, very good acting.
And as his character, The Interrogator, he deserves being treated like that. I would never wish AR any harm, of course not!
4/04/07 at 07:02 PMWhat is your location? Virginia Beach,VA
Comments:To SnoKat:I wanted to assure you that what you saw in "Closet Land" was carefully staged and later sound effects added so we
think he was kicked! I'm the lucky mom with the son with a film degree, and even
my kid made a student film where it looks like someone is getting the snot beat out of him by his big brother. By altering the camera angle and using recorded sound effects, you can simulate just about
anything in a movie! This is a good thing since not too many actors are willing to be abused! ( Even if it seems like fun to the director!)
As far as the tomato and garlic stunt, that seems real enough to me. I once bit into a raw garlic clove ( accidentally ) and let me tell you, it's
horrible and I spit it out too!

Comments:SnoOn the commentary of Dark Harbor the director said that the actors ( Alan and Norman) were extremly nervous about the passionate kiss scene but when the day came, they both showed up totally committed and ready to do the scene and just did it. He said it couldnt of been easier ........it was the look of contemptment and anxiety that David had after the kiss that Alan had a hard time perfecting.....and had to do many times........
Now, im going to be honest here, i did not like Dark Harbor one iota.................BUT, when i watched it with the commentary on and learned so much about David and the stranger that it took on a whole new meaning when i watched it again, and i actually like it now.........strange but true. I mean its not my favorite but now i can watch it again and again. Same with Judas Kiss, the more i watched that, the more i loved it....specially Reuben.
4/04/07 at 12:27 PMComments:Well remember the whole theme of Closetland is that she gets as much of a "mindf**k" as physical abuse. That is the way he's trying to break her. So by making her think he believes she is worthless and beneath him, only worthy of being whore or what have you, then that could break down her self respect.
As far as the kick. It might have been a real kick, but let's hope he was smart enough to wear a cup or some sort of protection. I mean, I'm sure Alan is all for doing his own stunts (back then) and being as realistic as possible. But he wouldn't be stupid about it!
Gahhh, I love that scene from Dark Harbor. I'd love to ask him how he approached doing that scene and what his mental process was in order to make it look as real and passionate as it was.
4/04/07 at 10:52 AMWhat is your location? Canada
Comments:Closet Land Spoiler and Dark Harbor Ending Spoiler too I never thought of the fact that she repulsed him, i always thougt chowing down on a tomato and then eating raw garlic would make me gag and puke too, I dont know about the garlic/tomato gag,,,it looked real to me.Thats a hard one to determine, it could of been written and then done to perfection or it could of been done accidently and kept in because of the pro that Alan is, made it ihis own kinda like ad-libbing. And even Keith saw stars, and went oooohhh, when he was nailed in the boys. I know he likes to do things right and real but i think even he has limits but if it was a real kick ( doubt it though) then he is one hell of a man..............then again, he did passionatly kiss another man in Dark Harbor.
4/04/07 at 10:39 AMComments:I think the loud retching was supposed to be an affect of kissing her. Like she repulsed him.

Comments:The garlic+tomato-scene:
That's the
only AR-scene in any of his movies I zap over, cause my stomach don't like it very much.

BTW, Why did he got sick after wards?
The way how he and Madeline struggle makes me always think they've done it in real. The way he pushes her bra aside seems not like 'acting'!

And the way she kicked him with her feet in his - well, how do you call it in English?

he really think he deserves at at this point of the story!
4/04/07 at 03:57 AMComments:Ahhh, Closet Land. .............that man made garlic and tomato sexy....

I thought that she refused to admit her guilt and in doing so knowingly accepted that she would be tortured to death or imprissioned perhaps forever. Comments:Hey Yall! I hope you don't mind but I edited part of 442Rickmaniac's post. 442, please don't be upset with me. I think many of us would just die if any rumor about AR got started here so to help keep that from happening, I took out the details that could have caused it to become a rumor.
I think I do kind of get what your saying though. I find myself wanting to "mother" or "nurture" a lot of AR's characters! LOL

4/03/07 at 08:50 AMComments:I agree with Catsplay and Barbara... especially since I still do not understand how people can get annoyed with the umpteenth harmless poll alert or birthday greeting while quietly agreeing to postings of a more juicy nature. But rejoice, AR does not read this.

Poor man, all the stories and wild speculations created around him, when only his movies should concern us. Why create scandal when there is such a blissful lack of it?
Obviously the discussion board is not really a solution - few get the purpose and even fewer care (I am not an exception, I know). We will have this kind of argument again and again, because this is actually a guest book - a real message board with the possibility to start different threads would prevent it maybe. However, as long as we do not have this here, we will have to gently push each other in the right direction *ouch*
I guess, this posting is rather for the Discussion Board, too, as it is discussing things and not giving news, right?

The easiest way might be to move over to the Discussion Board completely
4/03/07 at 07:42 AMComments:442Rickmaniac, I apologize if I reacted too harshly. However, I still disagree with public speculation about the topic despite what anyone may think, and I think my main concern was what Barbara mentioned - that this is how rumors get started.

You are treading on thin ice with a comment like that one 442. He has so much going on in his life, let's not guess what may or may not have happened to "our guy". This is how rumors get started. Yes you have a right to post what you want, but you are just guessing outloud. No wonder he keeps his private life...just that! Let's just enjoy the presents we just received(the pictures) and not try to daydream a fan-fiction type of guessing about the man's life. This is a really big topic to touch on without any proof. He lives, he's happy, we love him, one day at a time girls. Why guess?! Barb
4/03/07 at 12:25 AMComments:442 ... It was not a boarding school. Still, this is a thought that I have had before myself (what you suggested). I don't think anything is out of the realm of possibility.
4/03/07 at 12:07 AMComments:442Rickmaniac, I think that kind of completely unfounded speculation is not only totally inappropriate but also dangerous and disrespectful. I don't think that's the kind of thing that should even be suggested on this board.

Comments:I was backtracking a bit and found a number of mentions of a nice photo from 1984. Could someone be so kind as to let me know where to FIND it...? These were from posts made in the last two weeks of March this yar (sic)(as in "my she was so YAR"...a Katharine Hepburn reference). *sigh* Did anyone else on this guestbook buy a big screen TV just so they could observe AR as closely as possible? What an insanity. But I am STILL too shy to watch "Dark Harbor" on it...However, I DO watch my very three favorites---"Close My Eyes", "An Awfully Big Adventure" and, of course, the HP's...I am going MENTAL waiting to get "Snow Cake" and I am so absolutely to pieces waiting for "Closet Land" on Region 1 DVD. And "Rasputin".
How sad. My six-year-old daughter and her friend have become Rickmaniacs too, but as Daddy has issues with this it's become sort of a taboo subject around the house.

4/02/07 at 09:08 PMComments:OMG, the Miami Vice look!! How funny!!
Yeah, he looks great in those.
Btw, in the first two photos... what is the white thingy on his jacket?
It looks like a dead white hamster in the first and like a flower in the second one. Seems too spongy to be a handkerchief.
No wonder, Claudia! It was a whole process.
Well, better late than never. God bless your new scanner!
I still can't decide which picture I like the most but your favorite is one of the best. Yeah!
And what about the one named 'CurtainCallHamlet"?
And the ones with the Miami Vice look? (As Alfan so right baptized them)
Oh, it can't be helped, I love them all.

Comments:Peekabooh, I will work on a solution to the thumbnail linking bit tonight. Wish me luck. I don't know why our board and Photobucket are so at odds on this. It used to work so easily.
Yes, the practice page is using when practicing to post on the HP Spoilers board. You have to know more html on that particular board than you do here. I really need to remove that from the top. I think I'll do that right now.
In the meantime, I will find a solution and post it tonight.
4/02/07 at 03:56 PMComments:OMG Pat and Claudia - WOW and thank you SO MUCH for sharing those treasures!!
I only wish I had been paying attention enough a back in those days to have been aware of AR then.
*HUGS*

4/02/07 at 03:43 PMComments:Thank you
Pat and
Claudia for those gorgeous pics.
Nahima is right, he looks like he is in his early twenties instead of 46... amazing!
Pat, you lucky lucky girl.
Claudia, could you tell us, simple folks, how to post a thumbnail? The practice page doesn´t seem to work for me either. I think it all changed a bit, am I right?

*tee hee* Nahima, I know what you mean there! Actually, pat mailed me copies of the pictures and I scanned them in for her. I held off on scanning them until I could be my new scanner. I was afraid the old scanner wouldn't do them justice.
I think my favorite one of the bunch is where the words "Stage Door" are above his head. His smile is sooooo sweet in that one!

A huge welcome to Alpewulbridum, leonore, vivi, and Alperey! So glad that you've joined us.
I saw Sigourney Weaver last week on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. She "promoed" Snow Cake along with a couple of other pieces of work. A film and also her narration of Discovery Channel's Planet Earth. If yall get the chance to watch PE...do. If you are a nature nut like me, you will find this special extraordinary!
Zorra! What a treat...first in seeing you post again. Its been to long since your last one! And second...your sharing AR's artwork from Oz magazine. You are very lucky to have that little piece of AR history!
Oh goodness...I had forgotten about sue's stitches! Ya never know how good pain could feel, eh sue? *grin*
rosi, thanks so much for capturing that video for us! And congrats on such a fine job your first time out!
Yipppeeeee on the blurb about a possible Sweeney Todd release! My goodness that will be fast considering the scary interuption they had with JD's daughter. I am trying to locate a copy of Ray Winstone's version of the same name. I'd love to see it before AR's version comes out.
Carolyn, thanks for the images from the Harold Pinter Celebration. No matter when, where, or how...that man is ALWAYS gorgeous! And Lindsay Duncan always looks classy! I really did enjoy her performance in Rome and just recently saw her in HBO's Longford. That was a fascinating story!
Thanks so much for the SAFE link, sue! Out of all AR's charities, I think this is the one that receives the least amount of attention.
Thanks for removing that watermark, Camerata! That image is so yummy!
CatsPlay, thanks for the link to the WireImages videos. I'm about to die to see them. But I don't think I'm ready to shell out that much though. WI really think a lot of their possessions, don't they?
As for announcements about the various AR polls. I do know that a lot of us here...myself included, really got frustrated with how the workings of the polls were going. I do know for a fact that you can't rely on these things because they can be and probably are rigged. It is OK to mention when AR comes up on a new poll just in case there is someone here that wants to participate. But constantly reminding us of the polls, can be a bit irritating. So let's just limit it to making an annoucement and letting it lie.

Ohhhhh myyyy goodness!
A huge bunch of thanks to Pat from Australia for sharing these gorgeous piccies with us.
You lucky gal, met Teh Nose so many times and at its best!
Well, AR seems to be always at its best but it amazes me how young he looked then.
If I'm not wrong, he was past his forties in 1992 and could have passed for a twenty-something or not-more-than-thirty-two years bloke.
Claudia, I can't believe how your Inbox managed to contain such treasure hidden there for so long without exploding with a massive SQUEEEEEEEEE!
Thanks to you too for uploading them.
Karin, your contribution is great too!
Thank you so much and a big hug to Peek for her help with the uploading.

Comments:Ohhhhh myyyy goodness! Karin and Peekabooh! Thank you for the new pics! They are so BIG and clear! I linked them to the larger ones so it will be easier to see them as wonderful full size images.
I see I have some catching up to do but first I wanted to post some pics that pat from Australia sent me way back before Christmas. Finally, pat...I can uphold my end of the bargain! *grin* Anyway, here's the images that coincide with pat's wonderful AR stories! I've added the caption pat wrote with each picture so you'll know when, where, and some times whether she was the one that took the pic or not within the PhotoBucket account.

Thank you sooo much pat!!! And I'm so sorry for taking so long to get them posted.

Hikity, it certainly was a night (and couple of days) to remember!
New Jan and others, what you need to know is that Sue had had a surgery a couple of days before the Q&A. I´ll copy a part of her review from her LJ over here (hope you don´t mind Sue);
"
We thought everybody would have gone as we'd been a while and left the cinema through the bar to find Alan standing there surrounded by the likes of Hikity, Peeekabooh etc getting autographs and pictures. L and I stood back and she took a phone pic and I remembered to get my camera out and took one photo but it isn't brilliant. People were clearing out so I took a deep breath and went up to him and said "It's ok, I don't want an autograph or anything but just wanted to thank you for making a wonderful adult movie, I really loved it" I got a lovely smile and a thank-you and he stuck his hand out and grabbed mine and shook it firmly whereupon I sunk back to my Sarf London roots and said "Mind me stitches!" LOL A look of utter alarm crossed his face and he said "Oh dear, sorry" or something like that. Anyway, it did hurt a bit but now I shall be selling the plaster on ebay!!!LOL."

4/01/07 at 05:09 PMComments:Hi girls,
Our dear
Karin from Switzerland, asked me to post two of her pictures, made September 5th 2006 (thank you so much Karin). Since I have no clue how to post thumbnails anymore, I´ll leave you with the teaser (small ones). If you want a huge version, go to Claudia´s photobucket (description above) cause that´s where I uploaded them to.

Enjoy.... Hugs Peek

What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://home.earthlink.net/~sa.pe.APLhome.htmlComments:Rickwoman, I think that is a reference to a 1989 production of a play by Mikhail Shatrov called
The Peace of Brest. In my copy of the play, the note below the cast list says "Performed in Russian, the play was accompanied by a live simultaneous translation based on the translation printed here and spoken by Frances de la Tour and Alan Rickman."
As for voting in polls, I agree that they are all rigged and everyone cheats on them. I think they are better at measuring which group of fans has the most sophisticated computer skills than the actual popularity of an actor. That said, I don't care if people vote in them or post about them here just as long as the posts don't become so large or numerous that they flood the board. Then they are more like annoying cell phone conversations than news items.
I will now prepare for another three months of banishment for speaking my mind.

Comments:To me, being remembered of a poll isn't nearly that boring than hundreds of posts concerning one's birthday.
Nothing to be said against congratulations, but to see the same line for the umpteenth time sometimes takes away the fun of reading.
Maybe a congratulation area would be indicated.
4/01/07 at 07:10 AMComments:Sorry, but is it not a bit ridiculous to once again discuss what should be discussed here and what not? I know, I am a minority of that opinion and it might be against the rules, but I still want to repeat my statement of old:
Let people post what they like and just ignore what does not interest you.I mean, why on earth should people not be allowed to post about the poll (even though it is against the rules above) when at the same time others are allowed to drool about pictures and discuss their AR-related NC17 dreams (which is at least as much against the rules)?
Just an innocent question...
4/01/07 at 06:24 AMComments:I quote
Susan,
Alfan, that's not really the way I remember AR's results in the Hello! poll. Oh yes, I remember it exactly the way
Alfan wrote about it - she is right -
BTW: I thought we decided
NOT to mention the VOTING business here anymore but on our
discussion board only.
PLEASE

Comments: Last passage from that article
http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/stage/theatre/article1484923.ece
“Years ago,” she says, “Vanessa Redgrave brought the Shalom Theatre of Moscow to London, and Alan Rickman and Frances de la Tour and I were asked to do simultaneous translation. I was the voice for this actress called Marina, who gave me notes every night. Every time I saw her coming, I’d duck. ‘Where is Frances? Where is Frances?’ Alan and Frankie would go, ‘She’s looking for you again.’ I’d get more notes than I’ve ever got in my life. She’s in my head when I think of how Arkadina acts. It’s very big and very over the top. I don’t see in myself Arkadina’s mad self-deception when she says, ‘I could still play a 15-year-old.’ That’s where we part company. I’m not that unaware.”
Has anybody been knowing about that?
Another piece from that article about Zoe Wanamaker (Mme. Hooch)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?xml=/arts/2007/03/28/btwanamaker128.xml
She is much sunnier about Harry Potter, in which she played Madam Hooch. "There was one day when Maggie [Smith], Richard Harris, Alan Rickman and myself came in at about eight, got into full make-up, full costume, sat there and then had lunch and tea time comes round and the first AD comes in at about seven and says, 'I'm sorry, it's a wrap.' I saw Richard Harris's eyes open. His beard was all tied up in bows so that it wouldn't go up his nose and I knew he was going to explode and I thought this was the funniest thing. He said, 'What are you laughing at?' I said, 'Look at us, we've been sitting here all day all dressed up like this and we're getting paid for this and you're getting angry!' "
