Elaine and Sue,
You took the words right out of my mouth. To have him in a role that did justice to his talent--a Rasputin or Blaylock but for the cinema, not TV. It seems everytime he does get the chance--Mesmer, TSfJG something happens. A role like Jacques Roux but a full length movie. That would be truly wonderful. He is so much better than so many that have won Oscars it would be a shame if he didn't.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

I loved 'Perfume'. But as always... Making a film of a book, it is tricky...
SPOILER: You read so much thoughts and to translate this in pictures... It is hard, but the ending is sublime: eating out of love...

Wel it is a strange novel, but it was a hit and I still like it!So no blame for the actors (and there are no small parts, only small actors as someone once said...)

I thought his father died of longcancer, I read it somewhere, but I can't rember where...

Hope you all had a great evening, I did, a bit drunk now and tired... So I'm going to get some sleep... Signing of at 3.45 hour.

Again: Wish you all a great 2005!!!

Sue, I could not have said it better. I would love to see AR do a film that STARRED him and not had him taking the part of a "Supporting actor". StLM was almost that film but made for TV.I guess we are just greedy for more! He likes to take it easy, and why not? I think I would, too, if I did not have to work. But oh, I do wish we could see him just once in an Oscar winning role....

Happy New Year!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

Here's hoping for a Happier and more Peaceful Year for the World.
Dany - hope your mum feels better soon. My mum had ovarian cancer 30 years ago and she is 84 now and still doing fine. I always tell everybody about her when I hear someone has cancer cos people DO get better.

I don't know anything about the Perfume book but it doesn't sound like there is much of a prt of AR or DH (another of my faves). I really wish AR would get a lead part in a decent adult drama. I know he does comedy very well but I'd love something a bit meatier for a change.

JS def did call him Al at the NFT;) and I always think of Paul Simon and that great Chevy Chase video when I hear it.

I must listen to that Bill Nighy play tomorrow or I shall lose it. I caught a bit of Capture the Castle the other night on tv and he was great in that. He never seems to stop working, wish AR took some pointers from him LOL

PS.I didn't know that AR father died because of cancer but I think no matter which kind of cancer he had it is terible.
My mom has cancer(braintumor ) and she had to go to the hospital next monday for the 5th chemo and it is hard.

Perfume is a very strange story and so much of it is in Grenouille's thoughts. Ricci is actually the only part I could have thought for AR. He is supposed to be a man in his 40's, a widower with this beautiful 16 yr old daughter who actually figures out what it is that the murderer seeks out in these girls and tries to save his daughter. He actually is the more described character appart from the old Parisian perfumer, who really is old. It is a very strange story, Grenouille is a very strange character. I guess it would depend on the screen play how strange the movie was. AR always says it is the writing that makes it for him.

What does anyone hear about Snow cake lately?

Claudia, it doesn't get better, it just gets weirder and more pointless.

Hey! DS just opened up his 2005 Futurama wall calendar -- everyone knows the TV show "Futurama" right, the outer space cartoon from the guy who does the "Simpsons"? Anyway, each day on the calendar there are two or three names of famous people born that day. And guess who finally made it? Feb. 21 -- Alan Rickman. It took him three years to get onto this calendar! I wonder if he's on the Simpsons 2005 wall calendar. Anybody have one?

What I have read of the book, Emily, I have to agree with you. I think that's why its taking me so long to read the book. I just don't like it. From page one, I couldn't understand why AR OR Dustin Hoffman would even agree to do something like this. I keep thinking....maybe it will get better.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Brilliant and very appropriate pic of AR, Sue! Looks like he's all ready for a New Year's blast!

Thanks for the reminder of the Bill Nighy radio play, AFNH. I just grabbed it for listening later. Good thing I did when I did for it will be dropping off in a day or two. I sure wish AR still did radio plays. We're not asking for one every week....we'd be happy with once or twice a year. ;-)

Love the little clown new year's message, RickiNicki! Thanks for the fireworks, Sabine! BTW, I am still trying to get through the book Perfume (I'm such a slow reader!). So I haven't gotten to that part yet but hope to soon. Thanks to Kathy for sending me the book.

melissa--hope you enjoyed the Minghella bio. I find him a very interesting person not to mention those eyes of his! Oh and his voice is sweet too! LOL

Kathy, look for a little film called Still Crazy with Bill Nighy. Ali-Pat gave me the opportunity to see this and it really is a cute little film. Also, I think I've mentioned I Capture the Castle before too. BN is remarkable in this.

Thanks for the reminder that Juliet Stevenson had called AR "Al", Elaine. It seems that someone had reported that she had called him that at the NFT. But as usual I couldn't remember when I or where I had read it.

Best wishes to everyone. Please be safe and if you don't get back tonight....please come back tomorrow!

How disappointing that AR is supposedly playing Antoine Richis in "Perfume." First off, I don't think much of this book. It seems like it would be very difficult to adapt into a movie that people would want to see. Second, Richis is not much of a part. I thought he's play Baldini, the older perfumer. That was still a small part, but bigger than Richis. That at least was a very showy role that he could do well. Richis's part is even smaller in the book and it's really kind of blah - it's an old man part. All in all, I wouldn't mind if this movie never gets made and he puts his energy into something worthier of his talents and screen presence!

Melssa, there was a big discussion somewhere about friends actually calling him "Al". He doesn't seem like one to me either but Juliet Stephenson called him Al at the NFT. (And I can hear Paul Simon too!)

A Perfume rumor: I read on a German forum that AR is playing a character by the name of Antoine Richis in The Perfume. Has anybody else heard about this? Apparently Grenouille is after Richis daughter and Richis is doing everything he can to protect her. I’m not going to say if he succeeds… *grin*

Melissa: he can call me Betty, if I can call him Al… Sorry, to all Paul Simon fans, I just couldn’t resist! LOL

I’m not sure when I’ll be able to be on-line again, so Happy New Year to everybody!

No knighthood for AR this year. What was the Queen thinking?? (I'm joking -- I have no idea if he even cares.)

Actress Anna Massey, who acted with AR in "The Seagull", got an honor. Also, Simon McBurney, who heads the Theater Complicitie group -- very interesting guy, his group does challenging stuff. He's also a FOA - friend of Alan. He played Mesmer's stepson in the movie ...

The picture I sent was labeled "Hamlet" when I found it, but what he's wearing doesn't match any "Hamlet" costume I've seen. On the other hand, his age and hair are about right, so I suspect the picture was taken during the period of "Hamlet," but probably isn't an on-stage shot. Meanwhile, Tikki's pic. of today is from Rasputin. They did apparently lie to AR about when they were going to drop him at the end of Die Hard (it's in the DVD commentary and an interview AR gave), but no one seems to remember whether they said "five" and dropped him on "three" or said "three" and dropped him on "one." Who's obsessed?

Claudia - been looking out for the Dennis Potter stuff, but no mention of Mesmer as yet. The Singing Detective with Michael Gambon has been repeated on BBC4 this week, also starred Bill Paterson and David Ryall from TMD (six degrees of AR separation again!).
Have been watching with total horror the events unfolding in the Indian Ocean this week. That region now needs a warning system similar to the one in the Pacific to help prevent such a dreadful loss of life in future, and I can't help feeling the "developed" nations need to help out with that.

(Here's the John Cleese letter. Brilliant!)

To the citizens of the United States of America,

In the light of your failure to elect a competent President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective today. Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories. Except Utah, which she does not fancy.

Your new prime minister (The Right Honourable Tony Blair, MP for the 97.85% of you who have until now been unaware that there is a world outside your borders) will appoint a minister for America without the need for further elections. Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire will be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed. To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

1. You should look up 'revocation' in the Oxford English Dictionary. Then look up 'aluminium'. Check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'favour' and 'neighbour', skipping the letter 'U' is nothing more than laziness on your part. Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters. You will end your love affair with the letter 'Z' (pronounced 'zed' not 'zee') and the suffix 'ize' will be replaced by the suffix 'ise'. You will learn that the suffix 'burgh is pronounced 'burra' e.g. Edinburgh.

You are welcome to respell Pittsburgh as 'Pittsberg' if you can't cope with correct pronunciation. Generally, you should raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. Look up 'vocabulary'. Using the same twenty seven words interspersed with filler noises such as 'like' and 'you know' is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. Look up 'interspersed'. There will be no more 'bleeps' in the Jerry Springer show. If you're not old enough to cope with bad language then you shouldn't have chat shows. When you learn to develop your vocabulary then you won't have to use bad language as often.

2. There is no such thing as 'US English'. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take account of the reinstated letter 'u' and the elimination of '- ize'.

3. You should learn to distinguish the English and Australian accents. It really isn't that hard. English accents are not limited to cockney, upper-class twit or Mancunian (Daphne in Frasier). You will also have to learn how to understand regional accents - Scottish dramas such as 'Taggart' will no longer be broadcast with subtitles.

While we're talking about regions, you must learn that there is no such place as Devonshire in England. The name of the county is 'Devon'. If you persist in calling it Devonshire, all American States will become 'shires' e.g. Texasshire, Floridashire, Louisianashire.

4. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as the good guys. Hollywood will be required to cast English actors to play English characters. British sit-coms such as 'Men Behaving Badly' or 'Red Dwarf' will not be re-cast and watered down for a wishy-washy American audience who can't cope with the humour of occasional political incorrectness.

5. You should relearn your original national anthem, 'God Save The Queen', but only after fully carrying out task. We would not want you to get confused and give up half way through.

6. You should stop playing American 'football'. There is only one kind of football. What you refer to as American 'football' is not a very good game. The 2.15% of you who are aware that there is a world outside your borders may have noticed that no one else plays 'American' football. You will no longer be allowed to play it, and should instead play proper football. Initially, it would be best if you played with the girls.

It is a difficult game. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which is similar to American 'football', but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like nancies). We are hoping to get together at least a US Rugby sevens side by 2005.

You should stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the 'World Series' for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.15% of you are aware that there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. Instead of baseball, you will be allowed to play a girls' game called 'rounders' which is baseball without fancy team strip, oversized gloves, collector cards or hotdogs.

7. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry guns. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous in public than a vegetable peeler. Because we don't believe you are sensible enough to handle potentially dangerous items, you will require a permit if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

8. July 4th is no longer a public holiday. November 2nd will be a new national holiday, but only in England. It will be called 'Indecisive Day'.

9. All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap and it is for your own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean. All road intersections will be replaced with roundabouts. You will start driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

10. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips. Fries aren't even French; they are Belgian though 97.85% of you (including the guy who discovered fries while in Europe) are not aware of a country called Belgium. Those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called 'crisps'. Real chips are thick cut and fried in animal fat. The traditional accompaniment to chips is beer which should be served warm and flat. Waitresses will be trained to be more aggressive with customers.

11. As a sign of penance 5 grams of sea salt per cup will be added to all tea made within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, this quantity to be doubled for tea made within the city of Boston itself.

12. The cold tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all, it is lager. From November 1st only proper British Bitter will be referred to as 'beer', and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as 'Lager'. The substances formerly known as 'American Beer' will henceforth be referred to as 'Near-Frozen Knat's Urine', with the exception of the product of the American Budweiser company whose product will be referred to as 'Weak Near-Frozen Knat's Urine'. This will allow true Budweiser (as manufactured for the last 1000 years in Pilsen, Czech Republic) to be sold without risk of confusion.

13. From November 10th the UK will harmonise petrol (or 'Gasoline' as you will be permitted to keep calling it until April 1st 2005) prices with the former USA. The UK will harmonise its prices to those of the former USA and the Former USA will, in return, adopt UK petrol prices (roughly $6/US gallon - get used to it).

14. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be handled by adults. If you're not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you're not grown up enough to handle a gun.

I think a bit of Blow Dry will help, or maybe the backstage bit on WKWYLL, which is just about my favourite bit of AR, ever!

Speaking as a blue person in a red state, I found that letter HILARIOUS!!!!! However, I have red friends in this red state that would fail to get the humo(u)r. I think Basil Fawlty is the all time, hands down funniest character in Britcom history, that and Monty Python. The laughter wells up just thinking of the episodes where Basil and Manuel cart a dead body all over the hotel or try to keep two unmarried people from sleeping in the same room or the MP episode that has John Cleese as minister for funny walks. I am laughing already. I love his quick and biting wit. And Thank You John for letting our (ignorant or stubborn or childish) president know the correct pronunciation for nuclear. (one of my pet peeves.) It seems if you can order their use you should be able to prounounce it. OK finished with the soap box--next?!

What terrible news about Attenborough's family! Omg it must be terrible for him and his family!

My heart goes out to all the people around the world who have been touched by this disaster! There are no words...

Yesterday on the Danish news they showed two small children (they were not even 1) arrieve to Kastrup (Danish airport) without their parents because they had died. I wonder what will happen to those two children...Its terrible and most of all unbelieveable!

They also said that (it was last night Danish time) for now they have counted 55000 dead and the number rising! I cant even grasp that number!

On lighter note I can still not imagine Alan as Ventura! *shudders* although I must say it sounds interesting lol...

And also the fact about that guy in The Last Action Hero wearing that Im cheaper than Alan Rickman shirt...
IF Alan had said yes he would actually had to wear some kind of an false eye-thing....!

Forgive me, but ... I don't understand the concept of giving to the Red Cross "in AR's honor." It's not like he had anything to do with the disaster (besides having a friend who lost family members). I mean, you give at a time like this because you want to do a good turn in a terrible situation - not pile up brownie points with AR. I would be kind of embarrassed if I were him if someone set this up in my name. In all honesty, I find it a tad creepy.

But that's just me and maybe I don't fully understand why someone would do this. I don't mean to insult anyone who is giving to this fund! Every bit of help is needed. I'm just pondering the concept.

I am so sorry to hear about all the deaths around.

There has been talk about some kind of warning system that should have been in place, but I am made to understand that for that kind of disaster no warning would have been fast enough. It's heartbreaking to hear of so many children dying.

I'm also angry at developers who would be so greedy and uncaring as to overdevelop the beaches in a place known for earthquakes and tsunamis. I wonder how many vacationers there were really aware of the possible risks?

And I hope they don't pester Richard Attenboro and his family at this time.

I makes me sick, especially this time of year. We here in the central arkansas area are also saddened by the suicide of our prominent pediatric heart surgeon, Jonathan Drummond-Webb he was from So. Africa and was brilliant, saved so many children's lives and was intrumental in the advancement of pediatric cardiac surgery internationally. He took his life Christmas night and we all are so saddened by this as well. It is incredible the depression he must have felt to think his life so worthless. I could really cry tonight.

I really hope for all you guys in the US that AR makes it to that theatre benefit. You are right, it is the kind of thing he would support. We in the UK will be waiting for the reports - boot on the other foot as it were.

I think that Momoko's pic is from the Die Hard Premiere. I remember seeing a similar pic somewhere and I think he was doing Jan Man at the time. I like the Ed look a lot.

Just spent the evening playing a silly game called "Rapidough" where you have to guess what your team is making from play-dough. Good laugh for all ages. I think I need to get some lego. My son has boxes of it but no HP sets. He was into Star Wars so he has loads of those Lego sets, but no HP. He pretends he is too old for Lego now - but won't let me sell it!

The death toll in the Indian Ocean keeps rising and rising. It is unbelievable. I will be making a donation but I want to make sure it goes to the right place. Our coverage centres on tourists that have been caught out in it. I think we should remember the people that actually live there. They really need our help.

I feel in the need of several AR films tonight. See you

Oops! LOL I was thinking "flea something" from the Kimmel interview too, Kathy. I suppose all fleas aren't created equal!

Interesting background, Emily. We will definitely have to "stay tuned for more information". It would be lovely to see him in that Hawaiian shirt from WKWYL again, wouldn't it? But New York in January is not the best time for summer wear, for sure. If those folks are going to be wearing summer wear, they will have to really rip on the heat.

I don't know if I will start feeding the family mac and cheese just yet but I think I'll start stocking up on it! *grin*

Sue, we have a tiny little theatre here as you described called The Human Experience Theatre. They do lovely productions that a lot of times takes to the audience for participation. I love going to one of their productions. The audience is seated at tables and are allowed to bring in their own little baskets of food and drink. I never go without a good bottle of Cabernet and cheese and crackers.

If my memory serves me correctly when AR did the interview on the Jimmy Kimmel show weren't the kid musicians from the Flea as well or was that something else? AR certainly has his fingers in alot of things doesn't he, no wonder he is so busy---good for him. Maybe he will be in Canada filming SnowCake so it would be just a skip over the border to NY. If he does bring Rachael Corrie to NY wouldn't that be grand? Should I start buying mac and cheese for the kids??

Hmmm, interesting scoop about the Flea, Claudia. The Flea has an annual benefit show every January called "Flea for All". Kind of like variety shows with themes like cowboy, circus etc. Actors who have attended in the past included Bill Murray and Meryl Streep - I'm not sure if they performed. This year, it looks like the theme is a luau, and it's January 24. (Wonder if AR kept his Hawaiian shirt from WKWYL). And you're right, maybe this is a good sign for a NY production of "Rachel Corrie" ...

If AR attends the luau, maybe he'll also be attending the Golden Globes Jan 16. Oh, I shouldn't have said that. Now everyone's going to get all hyperventilatey.

Hi everyone!
I think i may have some alan info! I got an invitation to a benefit dinner for a theater here in new york called The Flea THeater. It's a small theater downtown that is run by Jim Simpson, Sigourney Weaver's husband. The invite had a list of people on the committee for the benefit and Alan was on the list! I'm not sure if that means he'll be there or not. Even if he doesn't go, it's cool to know that he's helping new york theaters as well as london ones.
Just thought I'd share...
~bwybaby

I looked up The Flea Theatre and it does seem just like the kind of theatre AR would support as well as a possible place for My Name is Rachel Corrie to come to the US maybe?????

I am going to get my LA DVD out today and search the Curtis commentary for the RA parts. I bought the DVD when it first came out and only watched the AR parts....shame on me! ;-) Another good place to have inserted RA's "angel" would have been when the curtain opened at the children's performance that revealed a kissing David and Natalie. Thanks for the earthquake relief links Claudia. On tv it seems like numbers being thrown out and on to the the next story, which I understand, but find jarring. I'm struggling to comprehend 23,000+ individual men, women, and children being killed so violently and so quickly on nature's whim, with who knows how many more to follow. What with natural disasters wreaking havoc on us, as well as us constantly doing it to ourselves, the world seems pretty hopeless to me sometimes. I'm glad to be able to come here for some good natured chatter and a smile or two, and be reminded that human kindness exists. And I do like to think that AR's artistic choices and the messages they convey, as well as his personal commitments to helping others, inspire and bring us together just as much as, well, you know...(blushes)

Sounds like this old world could use some peace with all the awfulness in the news lately. Thanks Claudia for the charitable links. Makes it so nice to be able to donate to them on the web.

We had a good Christmas, ate too much, laughed a lot. Had 2 international students join us for Christmas dinner--was loads of fun and very interesting. I think I am guilty as many Americans are of taking our plenty for granted.

Santa added to my AR DVD collection, watched TMD all day yesterday--as adorable as AR was in that film, I think he got better looking as he got older. They should sell that DVD with a box of tissues included tho---

For my Christmas gift my brother gave me a ticket to the Michael Ball concert at the Hammersmith Apollo theatre on June 25 in London--I am soooooo excited. Now if someone would give me AR for my birthday I will be totally over the moon!!!!

Hi all, hope everybody had a nice Christmas. My cold has just about turned the corner today but my husband is starting it now. His mother who we took home today has also got it now. She suffers from asthma and a bad chest so we did warn her but left it up to her to decide whether being lonely or getting a bad cold was more inmportant to her. Glad Christmas is over anyhow, although still got lots to eat and drink!
Claudia - I am the same about surfing the tv. Help I'm A Fish had its terrestrial premiere at lunchtime and I stumbled upon it whilst preparing lunch so obviously had to watch it all! It's a cute little film.
We watched LA on Christmas night. My husband thought it was a "chick-flick" - he only learnt that term recently so tends to overuse it!! He did seem to get a bit involved though as he was urging Sarah to tell the hunk what she felt about him. He also said that even he would get the message from Mia!LOL However his simple solution to the present predicament was simple - he would just have bought two necklaces!!(Which as the old Amex ad said "Says more about him than cash ever could")
The Rowan Atkinson as angel thing was picked up on by a few people when LA came out and Richard Curtis does say somewhere that RA was supposed to be a kind of spirit of Christmas character and at one time was due to have wings!
Wishing everybody a Peaceful and Healthy New Year and thinking of all those poor people suffering in Asia, the toll just keeps rising at every bulletin.

I had a chance to see Love Actually again over the holiday. No matter whether its a favorite of mine or not, if I stumble on an AR film while surfing....I just can't help but watch it. I'd watch Bob Roberts from start to finish, if I surfed into it on television! LOL

Anyway, getting back to my point. I've wondered on several occasions about Rowan Atkinson's appearance at the end at the airport. I came up with a little theory. I know...I need a life, don't I? LOL OK, his appearance as the department store clerk, I've always thought of as just comedy relief. And I must admit, the scene, with both AR and RA, is simply hilarious. But, his appearance at the airport got me to thinking. Is is possible that RA's appearance in the film could be tied to maybe the "Angel of All Things Right"? *GRIN* I mean, he does deliberately detain the completion of Harry's purchase of the necklace to the point that Karen almost saw it. Then there's the sad little boy being stopped at the gate and voila....RA appears with a diversion that allows him to run past the guard. Its just the look and wink that RA gives Liam Neeson's character as he turns around that led me to thinking about it.

Oh well..its just a bored cleaning up all the Christmas mess thought. Back to cleaning! LOL

Zzz, Wa-wa-wa-wa-WA-WA-WA! as Zero Mostel in The Producers would say. What a beautiful pic!

And Alan Rickman...Ace Ventura...I wonder why he turned it down? (Hear the sarcasm dripping off THAT one.)

I've been following the news of the devastating earthquake and tsunamis in the Far East too. And it is just heartbreaking to hear survivors describe what happened and see the pictures. Thanks for mentioning it earlier, Elaine. My heart and prayers are going out to all of them.

Hey, SuzyQ!! I was thrilled to see you popped in. Stop by whenever you can!

Phew! You did a lot of work to In Passing! AR considered for Ace Ventura???? ROTFLMAO! Also, I was quite surprised to see AR was mentioned in Richard E. Grant's AND Glena Jackson's memoirs. I've just recently been seeking out some of Grant's work after seeing Jack and Sarah and watching his Kumar interview.

It'd be so cool if one of Ali-Pat's extra Lego pieces was sonoma's missing piece. What a hoot! 15 shoeboxes of Legos, melissa? *grin*

I hope everyone is feeling all better by now. Especially with the new year approaching. My Mom always said that whatever you do on New Year's is what you will be doing the whole year. Laundry was never allowed on New Year's Day!

Zzzz's picture comes from our very own Momoko's archive of AR pics. I don't believe I've ever seen that one either. Momoko, do you know where it came from? The fan looking on looks absolutely fascinated, doesn't she? *grin*

Hope you all had a great time. My Chrimbo was very quiet and my wish for a cold was bestowed on me today - but it is nearly gone, so no skiving off tomorrow night.

But I am feeling a little jaded after hearing the awful news about the eathquake in the Far East this morning. They think over 12,000 people have lost their lives. You just can't imagine it, can you?

Let's look forward to a New Year full of good things, - good AR things even!

I'm so relieved I got through cooking the Christmas dinner okay, despite suffering a bout of food poisoning on Thursday--I was pretty bad yesterday, but caught a late night showing of TMD on tv, and I think that rejuvenated me! Anyway, today the feast didn't do much for me, but everyone else seemed to really enjoy it--whew!

Ali-Pat, don't you feel a bit embarrassed being an adult and playing with legos? By the way, what are your extras? Mine was missing a piece!

Hey all--thanks for the well-wishing. I feel better now!

Santa brought me a Marauder's Map Lego set and I put it together in record time. However, I have two little pieces left over. Maybe I assembled it too fast? I just love those little Lego Snapes.

Had a lazy day and made significant additions to In Passing. Enjoy!

My goodness, can we be a softy lot when we want to be or what??? LOL I hope everyone had (or is still having) a brilliant Christmas. All my wishes came true....hoping all yours did too.

Thanks for the link to the WB tour report, Sabine. I wonder if painting of AR from StLM ended up in an HBO musuem? Is there even an HBO museum???

Other than Snape, I really liked the photo of the Mystery Machine too. Scooby Doo has been a television staple around my home for as long as I can remember.

I just saw that someone on Suzanne's GB posted a pic of AR as Snape that hangs somewhere on the WB lot. I thought I'd share it with you here. I wish it was bigger, it looks like a really cool picture. :-)

The person who took it is an HP fan who took a tour of the WB HP set as I understand it. You can read the full report at The Leaky Cauldron

Hear, hear Elaine. To echo yours and everyone else's posts, the Season's Best to you all (Melissa, we're quite fond of a Merry Christmas here in the UK too - believe me!). May peace and happiness be yours.

And many thanks to Claudia for putting up with us and making this such a friendly place to meet up. Be good to yourselves, everyone!

Half an hour to go before the big day. I am at work but we've just had a very nice supper with lots of "goodies" and hopefully our charges will sleep well tonight. Time to stop by and wish all of you a very Happy Christmas, Winter Solstice, Hannukah, Ede or whatever your religion celebrates - or not - at this time of year. Hope you all have a lovely holiday and look forward to good things to come next year.

I, personally, want to thank Claudia for being a great mate and to everyone I've met through this wonderful GB.

I also want to ask you to spare a thought for all the guys and gals out in sandy places. I was there this time last year, and although the Army tries hard to make it as special as they can, it is still hard being away from your family. So if you know someone out there, or not, please send Christmas wishes to them all. They are doing a great job. Pity the politicians can't get their act together and bring them home.

So her's to an AR filled future. And to Mr Rickman (if he should read this - you never know!) thank you for giving me so much pleasure through your work. Cheers!
