Comments: I located another LJ users who recommended a keyboard macro. I found this one extremely easy to install and implement.

What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.como Comments: OK, I think I've answered my own questions. I found a number of segments in 'that book' that must be what I was thinking of. One of a few being (re: TMD),
If anyone is aware of a more detailed reference to this elsewhere, let me know, thanks.
Comments: While I'm at it, the quote I am looking for is actually I believe from Juliet Stevenson, where she talks about TMD Jamie being the character that AR has played that is most like himself. Can anyone point me to that information? Thanks
Comments: No really now, it has been fun so far but this contest is really begining to annoy me. It was fun to have a few jokes about going into the enymy lines and finding clues and whatsoever but come on! We are grownups here or at least most of us are and well the majority here sure acts like it even if they are in their teens! But this IS fishy! I have just returned from my New Years party, my computer was shut for about 6 hourse, I opened the hello page and I got that restriction page again and got it AGAIN when I tried to cast my vote! And just think about it! It`s impossible! We cannot overcome the gap of 1800 votes no matter how much we try! And that is technicly impossible! people have lives of their own, New Years included all sorts of preparations, it`s IMPOSSIBLE to maintaint that gap! Either they get ahead by much more than that or they slack off! But this is definetly a fix up and I`ve had just about enough of this! And it`s not possible for the Blooms to have some sort of secret society, get real!
What is your location? Pittsburgh What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: OK, I've stumbled across a tidbit and I'm a bit confused. Alan's lost love in AABA was named "Stella Maris", was she not?
I was searching for a particular quote related to TMD tonight, and in this article, I did a double take when I noticed that the character of Maura (the girl taking English lessons from Nina) was played by an actress named Stella Maris.
What gives??

Welcome to Melli and Margaret too! This is THE way to start the new year!
What is your location? GA Comments: Emily, you may be totally right. Since I read the Bloom has won the last two years in a row, that is awfully suspicious. Plus notice, Bloom is January's winner from 2005 as well. The voting is just to way overboard.
Good letter, Susan. If Hello is trying to pull chains, that will at least let them know we are on to them.
My suggestion is that we continue to try to get AR into first place but if Emily's hunch is right, it could be a losing battle. So please don't let it get you all down and we will just continue to vote AR as feverishly as we can and at the least keep him in second place. That ought to give Hello a hint or two.
Thanks GolfWizard for the macro program and instructions. That is one that I didn't see this afternoon. I'm off to take a look at it. Looks like its already been proved a winner, though! I'll post back after I give it a test run.
Hello Nimbus Girl! Welcome out of lurkdom and I hope you will stay with us and have some fun!

HAPPY NEW YEAR
What is your location? London What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.freewebs.com/lex_nixon Comments: A couple minutes ago I voted again for our dear Alan It said 17.623 votes for AR 19.875 votes for that I'm-a-bloody-Pirate-face-Bloom When I clicked the vote button it suddenly said 17.631 votes for Alan, which makes 8 more (in one minute) but 19.893 votes for Bloom, making it 18 votes more than before. Am I mistaken or is there a possiblity that every time someone votes for Alan, Blooms "account" gets up 10 votes in the same time?
What is your location? GA Comments: Happy New YeAR!

Comments: I dont have any interest in voting in this silly thing. But just reading Susan's letter, the thought occurred to me that maybe it's in Hello Magazine's best interest to have Orlando Bloom winning year after year. Orlando Bloom is a bigger star than AR -- not fair, but it's true. Orlando Bloom's face on the cover of a magazine sells. Did anyone consider that this thing is rigged by Hello?
What is your location? Poland Comments: Happy new year for everyone Alan fans !! And ....go vote!!!!!

What is your location? New Zealand Comments: Very nicely worded letter, Susan. Cool and authorative!
Comments: You can e-mail Hello! at megan.conway@hellomagazine.com For what it's worth, here's what I said (though I think a lot of objections to what's going on would carry a lot more weight than just one): I have been watching the yearly voting for Most Attractive Man carefully, and I am convinced that the Bloom voters have somehow hacked the system. Every time the second place voters begin to close the gap, Bloom's total adds an impossible 500 votes in about an hour. This happened four times last night in roughly four hours, and just happened again about an hour ago. People cast a vote for Rickman, and Bloom's total goes up by ten. Either the Bloom fans have figured out how to override the 15-minute delay or, worse, they are tampering with the vote recording itself, perhaps adding several votes for Bloom for every vote cast for anyone else (or at least for Alan Rickman). Could you please find out what is going on and put a stop to it? This contest is no longer fun. In fact, it is no longer a contest. I understand Bloom won last year and the year before, as well. Sincerely, Susan Rawlins
What is your location? Massachusetts Comments: Just be glad we are not up againist Hayden Christensen (he played Darth Vader in Revenge of the Sith) or he would be using his "special" powers againist us all (LOL) In a more serious note, I have been voting for AR all day. Sorry ladies but I am stopping around 8PM here and watching the stooges marathon. We are all big fans of the guys and will bring in the new year with them Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk.. HAPPY NEW YEAR and PEACE for 2006

What is your location? USA Comments: OB just jumped up in votes again. How is this happening? Alan's only gone up by like 4 or 5 and he's gone up about 20.
Hmmmm.....something has to be going on...
Comments: I see OB has taken another impossible 500-vote jump ahead in the last hour, just as he did four times last night. Has anyone tried to get in touch with Hello! about this? It's statistically impossible. Someone must have hacked the voting....
Comments: I'm off to sleep the New Year in. A happy 2006 to you all thanks for your company today. I'll hand over to the night shift and I'll be with you all in 2006.
Comments: Claudia,
5:34 PM EST I am around if you want to meet in the chatroom to discuss technical things.
Comments: Gawd - seeing double over JD's total (I blame the sherry!). Have switched from IE to Netscape and that was still one heck of a jump for OB. Something rotten in the state of OB, methinks (to pinch a saying from Will Shakespeare, sort of).
Comments: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Ah ha! Alanfan and I were posting at the same time and we both noticed it! Something is very fishy....any response from Hello?
Comments: Oh heck - go away and play with your DVD recorder for a week and look what you miss!!!! Let's keep it steady as she goes, folks. Whatever the OB folks are doing, we can do as well as they can. Got to overcome Ol' Cap'n Jack's shipmates too, they must be onto the same thing.Let's give 'em a run fer their money! Nice to see you back, Sniv! ***waves***
What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: All right....this time I watched very carefully. The Bloom vote just jumped 30 votes to my 3 votes. Could they have some system set up where everytime Alan gets a vote, Orlando gets 10? NO! OF COURSE I'M NOT PARANOID! WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU SAY SUCH A THING!!
Comments: I have just voted again, Bloomer's went up by 10 and Alan's by 5. Something is definitely wrong somewhere.

Hello everyone. I am a huge Alan fan which some of my friends think is strange since I'm only 15, but that doesn't bother me! I think he's an amazing actor.
I'm Nimbus Girl off of HPANA is any of you belong to that site or have seen the Alan thread there.
Anyway I love this site so much and it has all the Alan downloads I could ever dream of! and I love reading the posts on this guest book. Oh I'm voting every chance I get on the Hello poll for Alan!!!! He is the most attractive!!
And I hope every has a
What is your location? Los Angeles - very rainy Comments: These Bloomers are something else. I most definitely think something foul is afoot.....it started last night when they began to pull ahead by about 100 votes every quarter hour. Somebody in their camp has got an inside track into some sort of trickery.
Thanks to sue and Barbara for going "undercover" into enemy territory to try and discover their secrets. But please be careful, you two....we wouldn't want you to get caught. Who knows what sort of torture they might put you through. A non-stop loop of pirates and elves, no doubt....while your eyelids are taped open.....*shudder* Perhaps we can provide you with a capsule of obliviating potion you can bite down on should you be apprehended in the line of duty.
I think we should just continue on with the voting every 16 minutes (also have my kitchen timer set...much to the annoyance of the rest of my family) and not try to mess with deleting cookies, etc. As someone else so wisely said, we don't want to be disqualified. If the Bloomies are up to no good, then let them be disqualified. Remember, slow and steady wins the race!
A very happy, safe, prosperous, healthy New Year to all on this GB!

Hi Tawny and welcome aboard! I hope you will stick around and hang out with us.
I've been looking at macro programs alllll afternoon and I haven't found anything I like so far. I'll keep looking around and even am thinking of asking some programmer friends to write us something. I'll keep you posted. Until then, I'm relying solely on Snape summoning me from other parts of the house.
Let's don't give up, yall! No matter how bleak it looks at times, we still can't give up.
Sue, I'm thinking there are some "secret" Bloomer groups that have been exchanging secrets. I mean I really thought it would be Depp we would be up against not Bloom.
And judging by their comments, I think the Bloomers have a whole lot to learn about men, that's for sure!
Comments: I feel like cryin! I've been all day long voting and the closer we can get to close the gap is 1800!
MUST VOTE AGAIN...
What is your location? UK Comments: Well its just time for me to say:
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL AND MAY
Best Wishes to everyone and here's to a AR filled 2006
And for the last time this year:
Take Care Sarah!xxx
Comments: After reading your comments I have to agree with you all, something is not right with those counters... hmmm... On a happier note, I am going to see DOGMA for the first time!! Yes, in 40 minutes on Comedy Central.
What is your location? New Zealand Comments: Happy 2006. Nice morning here but no solution to the Bloombabes I see. I scouted round some OB sites as someone else did and couldn't see any activity like ours. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Hope you get some joy from Hello magazine, Sue. Before going out to celebrate last night I watched AABA. Lovely atmospheric film but just one small unease - didn't like the over the top melodramatics at the end of the wharf where he shouts out "Stella Maris" and grabs the air. I think he is better at showing emotion by a twitch of an eyebrow or a small movement of the mouth. All the best to everyone and Claudia our great site host.
What is your location? UK Comments: Well I have emailed Hello! and IF I get an email in return I will let you all know!!
Comments:
Alanfan and Sarah -- I completely agree, something's definitely NOT right. LESS THAN HALF of my votes make his total go up. About 60% of the time Alan's total doesn't move, whereas Bloom's does.
Also, the sudden upsurge of votes for OB last night which put him aheady of AR by a margin of exactly 2,000 votes is rather...strange.
There IS something fishy going on, methinks.
What is your location? Seattle Comments: Thanks, Sue, for pointing out the confusing line in my post. What I was trying to say was that he was less behind than he was this morning. At my last vote he was 1850 behind, or something like that, less than the 2002 votes down he was when I logged on. When my alarm rings I'll go back and see how things are now.
Comments: Tawny - thanks, glad to see I`m not on my own here! Sue, after reading the imdb board....HOW can he still be ahead??? it`s obvious most of them prefer Alan! Ok trying to get a grip here! I think I`ll just keep voting and enjoy the rest of the night. No use crying over spilt potion anyway, ha guys? Have the best time tonight!
Comments: Umm... sorry Tawny but Blooming Orlando is almost 2000 ahead the the mo!!
What is your location? Seattle Comments: Christina, you asked "I beg your pardon but am I the only one who gets that restriction window even when simply REFRESHING the page?????" Yes, I get the popups even when I add a new browser that hasn't ever been used to vote. I think the popup is to warn voters not to vote until 15 more minutes have passed. I just ignore the popups and keep voting every 15 minutes. AR has drawn slightly ahead. Way to go, AR fans!
Comments: Here's a link to Orlando Bloom's IMDb thread on Hello HERE. Interestiong reading but leaves us none the wiser, maybe his agent has hacked into Hello or something!!!
Comments: Sue - hilarious! I should be getting ready to go out and what do I do? Getting crazy over a bag of bloomies! The site you found Sue is the ONLY one I found that had the hello poll listed! I can`t understand how is it that we can`t get closer than 1500 votes! We were able to do it yesterday!!! What ahppened since then??? has the whole LOTR community joined forces over this??? Any answer from any HP community so far? wait a second! what about the Japanese sites? or the russian ones? Can anyone contact them? Man,I think we`re loosing it!!! ROFL!!!!
What is your location? Rickmania Comments: Just stepping out of lurkdom to express my frustration with voting. Here's my new motto:
Don't know how the Bloomers are doing it, but we shall just have to persevere! Never give up. Never surrender. At least we'll make them work for it this year! Heck, they're bound to get tired eventually...
Multiple computers in the same house add votes. Anybody got a Blackberry or a cellular phone with internet access? Let's harass, er, persuade our friends to vote, even if just once or twice. I'm in this for the long haul!
Therese Vote early. Vote often. Vote now.
Comments: Well it worked OK this time. Having a word with Hello might be a good idea. Is there away of getting in touch? I don't even subscribe.
Comments: Thanks! I've download ace set up! And... i'll see if it'll work.. And about cookies.. I indeed try it.. I don't think it work either..
and once again! HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006! IT'S A DOG YEAR! and APPARENTLY ALAN's SHIO is DOG! SO, IT'S AN ALAN RICKMAN YEAR!
Comments: It is strange. The only site I quoted had a page of comments BUT nobody was discussing how to beat the system etc. Maybe there is a hardcore private forum out there somewhere with crazed women clicking buttons day and night!!................................ No Wait!.....that'd be us !!!
What is your location? UK Comments: Christina - I get that little annoying box saying I can only vote every 15 minutes if I refresh so just close it and start again.
And (cant remember who said) but yes, I also have voted and his total hasnt gone up! Something aint right Me might have a ickle word with Hello!
Comments: Alanfan, how about THIS problem ! The hello poll is not even listed in major OB sites! How can they get the votes??? AND! How can they keep that distant between the votes so constant when we are turning into finger killers here????
Comments: I'm begining to suspect something is not right. Twice I've voted and Alan's total hasn't moved but OB's has. Has anyone else had this problem?
Comments: I beg your pardon but am I the only one who gets that restriction window even when simply REFRESHING the page????? I don`t think I voted for the last hour!!!!!
Comments: Sue, thanks for the digg ups! Thaaaaaaaat`s IT! By Grabthar`s Hammer, he`s going down!!! Kaaa-Bloom!!! And here`s something to lift up the spirits!
Comments: Martina, I said that earlier today, but I have watched it, it doesn't happen all the time.

Comments: Another Quote! Quote: Ok....... this is not normal..... How can Orlando have 7000 votes, and Alan Rickman 6990?!?!?! COM'ON!!!! Look at him, and then look at Orli!!! WHERE IS IT?! I CAN'T FIND IT! I can't find... the reason to this situation!!!
They will never understand will they?
Comments: Just paddling in the murky waters of Bloomdon here's one quote: Quote: so far its Orlando Alan Rickman (how'd that happen?) Will Young (who on earth is that?) and Gerry! c'mon Gerry! Hmm.......
What is your location? Munich Comments: I got the feeling that every time I vote for Alan Orlando gets a vote as well.
Comments: That thing Michelle and I were doing doesn't seem to work anymore ie we were opening an new page after the Hello one then going back and revoting. It appeared to work but now if you go back to the Hello page and vote you can't go forward again!! Strange!

I'm going to contact an Italian Alan site through a contact I made at Chelsea... hope it helps Come on WE will not surrender.... Never
Let's get busy tonight.. come on everyone ALAN NEEDS YOU! NOW!
Comments: AlanFan is right. Better do it the safest way than lose time with uncertainty means. Now I am not so sure the deleting trick works at all. Well there's a way, I checked where those little bits of information hide in my computer (its amazing the amount just from that site) and got rid of them manually... but it's a real mess and consumes too much time. You have to upload the page every single time before voting and this whole thing is different from browser to browser, so it becomes a very laborious thing and this is supposed to be fun. As a matter of fact, I deleted something somewhere that almost made me lose my Bookmarks!!! AAAAARRRGGHHHH!!! So, KEEP THE VOTING AR-FELLOWS!!! Remember the tale of the turtle and the bunny... bunny or hare? Well, that one!!
What is your location? GA Comments: I don't think it's working either.
Comments: I would be a bit careful if I were you we don't want to be disqualified for cheating. I have the voting page on my favorites and a kitchen clock set every 16 minutes and I'm voting that way. Its slow but it works.
What is your location? UK Comments: Oh vrikey, it isnt even telling me I have to wait 15 minutes now, its just not accepting my vote
What is your location? Sheffield-UK Comments: Come on guys and gals we are making headway slowly but surely! I don't think the delete cookies is working either, we just have to have the FAITH... and keep spreading the word far and wide, what was that story about the tortoise and the hare ?"
What is your location? UK Comments: I've done or I'm doing the delete cookies thing but the vote numbers dont always go up. SOmetimes it goes up 3 others it stays the same!!! Does that mean while I've done this for the last 30 minutes that none of my votes have counted?? LOL
What is your location? Michigan Comments: I hate to be a stick-in-the-mud...but we don't want to be disqualified. Even though it may or may not be working, we don't want to be accused of cheating. AR's the best, KEEP VOTING!!

Very interesting discussion on the guns in Die Hard. I haven't seen that one for a while (though it is usually on my holiday viewing list along with TJM, LA, and other holiday classics) so I am looking forward to another watch. Speaking of gun aversion, do you know that the guns AR used in QDU are in a gun museum somewhere? Wonder how he feels about that, pacifist that he is...
Happy New Year, everybody! Here's to another year of AR Fandom.
Comments: We will just have to hope that they get tried before we do.
Comments: Nope, I'm still not convinced that is really working.
Comments: Hmmm, I do see what you mean, after deleting once. Perhaps this information should be removed from this public board and disseminated to our members in another way?
Comments: But we have done so much in a matter of minutes! if we keep like this, cookies or not, we still can overcome baby bloom!
Comments: I don't think the delete cookies is working. It prevents the pop up but the vote count does not increase.
Comments: O...My...God! Lucy you`re right! If you delete your cookies and then refresh the page you can vote unlimited times! I didn`t refresh the page before! thanks for the tip! Man, I`m slow!!! D`oooh!!!!!
Comments: Yesssssssssss Lucy, you are a genius!!! I deleted the cookies, refreshed the page and vote again. It seems to work! I am going to try it again, just to be sure. ![]()

Tonight I kept dreaming the whole night that every time I punched the button nothing happened with Alan's results while the others votes increased by zillions... ![]() What a nightmare!! ![]() And it is somewhat happening, I can't believe it. I am going to download another browser, this situation requires extreme measures. NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER!! ![]()

I do!!! Doing all this detective search and trying to find clues as to what the enemy is doing and getting to se who can press he button faster!
Comments: Hi, thanks for the concern about the paper. I sent a message to the seller asking her to remove it but am not sure how you complain to ebay. Do I have to go through the German page?? Bit late on this as RL has a way of interrupting these days.
Looks like the OBcanobies have us shafted but I shall carry on LOL
Comments: Then it's about time someone else won. That should be Alan. The Bloomers haven't met us before obviously. We'll give them a run for their money.
Comments: Something fishy is going on for sure... Bloom has won the last two years in a row!!!
They may have the numbers but we have the heart!!!! (and some VERY smart ladies!!!
hmmm time for a little more...
Comments: Slightly OT, re: the Stewart play AR has been to on Dec 11. It was a play by JON Steward and not Patrick Stewart, staged in Prince Edward Theatre not The Albery Theatre. And there were only TWO performances that day (11.12.), so nobody could have gone watched it afterwards....LOL. Sorry if anyone got confused (Hikity? RickiNicki? Whoever wanted to see it...you would've missed it anyways.).
Comments:
Hi everyone, this is AWFUL!! That Bloom boy is ahead by 2000 votes - the mind boggles.
However, I MAY have found the solution to your little Bloom problem.
This is going to be a bit long-winded so please bear with me: I have been voting from as many browsers as may laptop can handle - Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Avant, Enigma, FlashPeak Slim Browser, GoSurf, Advanced Browser, Ace Explorer and Netscape. You can find them (they're all free) here: Now, I have discovered that I can vote in Opera just about EVERY ONE OR TWO MINUTES (!!) as long as I don't hit the vote button continuously but go to another browser window, vote there, and then go back to Opera. It is important that you do something in your other browser window(s) before going back to Opera, such as clicking on the vote button (even if the your vote isn't being registered because of the 15 minutes) - once there has been some activity in another browser, your vote IS being registered when you vote again Opera!! Can you guys check if this works on your computers as well (remember, keep switching back an forth between Opera and your other browsers), or if this is just a glitch in my computer? I have a suspicion, though, that it is not - it would account for the sudden upsurge in votes for Bloom, if the Bloom fans had discovered this as well. Perhaps we have a browser expert here who can tell us what is causing this so we can take full advantage of Opera and increase AR's votes more effectively?
Comments: Marlina I can only give you some names : Opera, Netscape, Firefox and Maxthon. You can do a google search aand download them from their oficial sites.
What is your location? Indonesia Comments: Agree Claudia... There's just something fishy going on there.. I've been voting for 7 and a half hours.. Their immense rising votes number are just don't make any senses.. Gotta go to check.. Maybe i can find something...
and...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
What is your location? GA Comments: Excellent thinking beryl! We do need to see if we can stake out some of the Bloom sites and figure out what they are doing. There's nothing saying that they haven't done that to us and are now using our tools against us. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find the macro program again, Vicki. Mine expired in the monthly vote. I would LOVE to find another one!
What is your location? GA Comments: Oh dear, I have to agree there is something rotten in the state of Bloomers, yall! I know he's popular but those people are up to no good!
But I know we can do this. We just have to NOT give up!!!! And never surrender!!!
What is your location? at home Comments: Sorry to dissapoint you just before the new year but the result of the voting is at the moment as follow:
Orlando Bloom 13433 and Alan Rickman 11495
But anyway I wish you A Happy New Year

Comments: Susan~ please give me a link to as many browser as you can get! and i'll download all of it! I only have one browser
Comments: You can vote once every 15 minutes on each browser you have--and you can download as many browsers as you can handle. So, if you have a computer and a laptop, each with six browsers, you can vote 12 times every 15 minutes.
Comments: Christina~ Does your other browser using a pop-up blocker?
Comments: Watch the numbers when you vote a few times now when I've voted for Alan an addition to OB's votes was made. Now it could be coinsidence, I hope thats all it is.
Comments: Christina~ I'm not sleeping darling!
Comments: Hey guys just this thought! if I vote in less than 15 minutes I get this pink window telling me I have to wait 15 minutes to cast my vote again. On he other hand, in another browser, I don`t get that. Does that mean that my vote was accepted and it will be excluded in some oficial last count?! Cause if that`s what the BaBlooms (LOL) are doing....but we are waaaaay behind now!!! Wake up everybody!!!!! Sleep is NOT an excuse!!!! ROFL
Comments: OB is very popular, but the sudden change in the rate that votes are being recorded for him makes it seem like his fans learned something a few hours ago that we don't know. Hope AR's fans figure it out soon--this is awful!
What is your location? NZ Comments: Hmm - I see Beryl's point. Maybe the Bloombabes somehow have got round the every 15 minutes rule? How does Hello magazine check? is it a simple computer procedure and the votes get adjusted every day? I think something is not quite right or maybe I am so very, very, biased in Alan's favour that I can't acknowledge that anyone would prefer the "Bloomboy".
What is your location? Munich Comments: Merlin, it´s nearly 2000. What´s that macro program - I missed the information. What´s it about - and where´s the link !
What is your location? Munich Comments: Hi girls, what happened tonight after nearly 14 hours voting I needed some sleep- and now Orlando is 200 points ahead ( if I remember right ) . BUT - here I am again VOTING! Does anyone know how to bottle fame, brew glory, ever stopper Orlando !

so... what do we do? we can NOT let Bloom win...we just CAN'T! argghhh
What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Who are these Bloom fans from hell?? I'm voting every 16 minutes on three different browsers and they are jumping ahead by leaps and bounds. I tried your reminder download, CatsPlay and got it to work on my desktop computer but for some reason it won't work on my laptop.
Claudia, can you post the link to that macro program again? Thanks.
Comments: Oh my.. I have suspicion that the 'Young' guy fans are all change direction to vote for Bloom! i become paranoid!
Comments: I was doing what sue and michelle were suggesting and that was working, but Blooms count was almost doubling at the same time. I reckon they have found something that we don't know about. Does anyone want to see if they can find out what? I have to do some work now so have no time.
Comments: This is depressing... the gap became further and further no matter how much i click the vote panel..
Comments: I remember all those articles when they first started filming in wawa and it was lovely to go back over and read again. Thanks CP. I shall have to go watch Die Hard again and see if I can notice anything. I suppose if you have never handled a weapon it is a bit scary the first time, even if it is a movie prop. Lex, love that desert island paper. Nice cap from DH. Have the Bloomys found some secret formula because they have suddenly ratched up the votes! It's going to be a hard hard campaign and still two weeks to go!
What is your location? http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Here's another similar link from that same publication with a whole bunch of pics (none AR that I See though). Is "Abe the dog" the dog AR was walking in Wawa?

Well, I like Bloom too, but guess who I prefer...
Anyway, we can't let that happen!
What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Man, I miss a day and there's three pages to catch up on. Have been dutifully voting but I'm not sure that reminder is working for me. Do you have to make sure that screensavers are turned off? I deleted it and redownloaded it....I'l wait and see if I hear the Professor after 15 minutes.
Comments: Oh nooo! Bloom is winning again! Get those voting fingers back to work!
What is your location? CT Comments: AR does flinch very slightly after shooting Takagi or whatever his name is, but you have to watch very closely. My favorite "gunshot flinch" is when he realizes that Bonnie Bedelia is Mrs. McLaine. There is (what I think is) a very sexy shot of Hans pulling his pistol out of his belt and firing it into the air. You can clearly see him flinch this time.
What is your location? London What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.freewebs.com/lex_nixon/ Comments: Elaine, I remember him saying that he never ever before Die Hard had a gun in his hands and that he hesitated at first to use it. The guy who made the special stunts in the movie was to show him how exactly to hold the gun and how to move with it. If it was not in the Die Hard interview it was in some other. Can't remember exactly in which one though. I will look it up and tell you. Anyway.... wishing you all a sound sleep. (and AR dreams) ![]() before I snuggle up to hubbie I'll vote...again ![]()
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Elaine,
Actually, I read in multiple places that AR did have a problem with guns in the movie......supposedly if you watch when he shoots Takagi (sp?) he fliches slightly. I read or heard this a couple of times, I would have to go back and research where. I went back and tried to see it, I guess I could kind of see what they meant. I think it's an adorable quality!
Comments: Sue, the cheek of that seller! Beats me how they think they are going to get away with it, too!
I think we are on a battle royal with Orlando fans right up until the last moment as they are obviously using the same tactics as we are. We shall just have to spread the word. I can't understand why Will Young has all those votes unless our gay friends are all voting for him! But I think he's out of the running now. Incidentally, I thought the little Bio that Hello have for AR was pretty good. I did not know of the problem he had on Die Hard with guns. Certainly no sign of it in the movie!
Comments: I am from Puerto Rico, Sniv. ![]() "Ja" is the sound of laugh, well my laugh. Others laugh like this "Je je" or "ji ji" or like Santa's "Jo jo"... OMG!! I got it!!! Kinda snitch it on to EBAY? Jesus Christ.... You crazy chicks here.... A voting button (grinning endlessly) WHAT A MARVELLOUS IDEA. I will give it a go and vote for... err.... Hugh Jackman, perhaps? Lol! Perhaps I'm in some weird mood today (and for that you'll have to excuse me), but in some way I find this hilarious! We are fighting against the BaBlooms!

But my new year resolution is; spend more time on here! *wink* I love the chat! I spoke to emtee and Laurie the other day - they were so nice and fun to talk to...
Comments: Trouble is looks like they are doing the same thing
Comments: Yeah, Sue it's working most of the time for me as well. Apart from the obvious fact that it's tallying another vote for Mr. Rickman - I'm also getting to hear The Voice every time the page refreshes.
Oh, and I'm glad you liked my Jack Nicholson post earlier in Vintage Meat.
Comments: Michelle, you might be onto something there. it's working for me most of the time. It could be coincidnece. I am coming back to this ppage refreshing this then going back and voting. It's rather similar to my tactics when I entered a U2 contest about 600 times!!LOL

Comments: I've been messing around with the "Turn to Page 394" timer, and I'm not 100% if this is accurate but give it a try ...
Open up the website with the timer. Vote. Enter another website address and click "Go". Then when you're at that website, click "back", so you arrive back at the Hello page. You'll get the "Only vote once every 15 minutes" pop-up, but just click "Vote" again anyway.
I've been doing this for about 5 minutes now and everytime I hit vote, the counter has been going up by two votes. That's like ... two votes every 3 seconds.
Maybe it's just me, let me know if it works for anyone else.
Comments: Last vote of the night, it jumped from 7809 to 7830!! Will Young won Pop Idol some years ago and is one of the only ones from it that have stayed around *grrr* Night folks and Happy New Year when it comes.

What is your location? Germany Comments: sue, thank you for the information! It's a shame I won't be able to see it. I will be in London on the 4th again. I saw Patrick Stewart in "A life in the theatre", he was brilliant!
Comments: Will Young won one of those PopIdol type things, I think it was the first one. He seems to be hanging on in the pop world by going for the more family entertainer type route. Not my cup of tea really though I have heard a couple of songs on the radio and liked them then found out it was him!! He can be seen in the Judi Dench movie Mrs.Henderson Presents where he plays a very camp song and dance man (typecast) and is surprisingly good in it.
RickiNicki, the Patrick Stewart thing is on for only about 30 performances and finishes on the 31st (tomorrow) Check it out HERE
What is your location? Home Comments: Hello everybody!! I come from lurkdom to join forces with you all in our "Make Alan FIRST!!" campaign.Catsplay your banner is GREATTTT!!! May I use it on my signature in the Leaky Lounge? I'll need to reduce it a little, to make it a button. Is that okey with you? Yesterday I made the announcement about this contest on one of those forums but got it closed because of the rules. However, the moderator felt my sorrow and suggested me that I may "fix my signature for a while"... And so I did!!!! I put the link there and the "Vote for Alan" mantra. Metatron's image was the touch I needed to make my signature perfect!! Oh!! I got another idea!! May I use the image with the message translated into spanish? In this way I can put it into my signature in a latin forum I visit. We are a big bunch of Alan fans there, yesterday we have a lot of fun with the voting. Nobody knows who Will Young is. By the way, who is that Will Young??? I have never seen his face before. I think that if one or two of the Harry Potter major sites announces the Hello contest it would be wonderful, I sent two e-mails yesterday asking for that. Hope it works. ![]() Have more anecdotes of my yesterday AR-efforts but it would be too much for a first posting. Cheers!!
What is your location? Germany Comments: Sue, I'm glad you liked it, my friends went to see the play too. They also thought it was brilliant! I should go and see it too. Need to check how long it's on for. I just know it's not on for a very long time. I also would like to see Ian McKellen in Aladin, I missed it the last time.

Also everyone, as Christina mentioned yesterday, deleting cookies will not work on this vote. But...did you know that you can vote from every computer in your home every 15 minutes? For instance, if you have a desktop and a laptop...that's two votes per 15 minutes.
Comments: Lisa said: Quote: I mean up against Orlando Bloom!!!!Please!!!The guy has'nt even got hairs on his chest yet!!!
Umm.... don't think our man has either........... Nice to come back from London late last night and see you are all busy clicking already. O/T I went to see Patrick Stewart's one man performance of A Christmas Carol. With just a black set and a few chairs and a table and simple mood lighting he had the audience spellbound. First play I have ever been to that had a standing ovation. I recall Alan Rickman saying in an interview (Hard Talk?>) that he would never do a one man show as he thought acting should be about "re-acting" off somebody else. I can see his point as there has to be slight element of showing-off I suppose ("Hey, Look at me I'm doing all this myself!") but I think Patrick Stewart has deserved all his awards and plaudits for this show.
What is your location? UK Comments: CatsPlay - HELP LOL I'm "trying" to use your voting reminder thingy. I did as I was instructed and the page came up and I voted and left it. What a grrrrreat idea, CatsPlay! Your voting reminder is just to cute for words....and I'm not all that in love with Snapey! LOL Thanks for the hard work. I just hope Orlando Bloom's crowd doesn't download the reminder...seems like they have a whole set of tools they're working with already!
Lucille, welcome home! We did get the word on Snow Cake making the Berlin film festival but its such great news...it needs repeating from time to time! Did you scroll back to see the clip of SC that CatsPlay found earlier this week?
Thanks for the identification of that pic, Emily. Can my memory be getting that bad??? I knew I had seen it before but just couldn't place the time!
Dee and CatsPlay, I love the wallpapers! How gorgeous!

Hi girls - thank you - you did a great job tonight. Besides I think Alan will win . No one has so faithful and well organized fans like him.
Comments: Voting time is here again! Goody! I think Orlando will be the one to beat. Will Young is a "housewives favourite" so should not go the distance. Can't stand him myself.
Lots of lovely wallpapers - thank you all! I love the colours on your Argie one, Sue and the way you've used those "pics within pics" is genious, Cats Play.
Didn't hear the voice over for the Charles & Camilla thing and would not watch RUBBISH like that on principle! They should leave them alone. There seems to be a rash of awful mediocre dramas trying to cash in on the "Royal" thing lately. One on Prince William, one on the awful Diana, and even one on Princess Margaret last week. I think the are all written by "Sun/Daily Mirror" hack wannabes. Sorry if anyone likes these kind of things, but I don't (did you guess?)

VOTING ALERT!
OK, ladies, I have created a simple little tool that is just a web page that you save to your computer and leave open as a window. This page will reload every 16 minutes (just to be safe), reloading the voting page, and will play a sound file of Snape saying "TURN TO PAGE 394", so that it will remind you to cast your vote again.
To keep our little reminder technique among AR fans, please use the EMAIL LINK to email me and I will email you the files and instructions.
This tool would be completely within the rules, and just employs this technique to have AR himself remind you to vote again!

It's supposed to take place at the 17th of June next year - A couple months ago someone here asked where to go and what to do in London and I suggested to pay the school a visit. Will s.o. this time give it a go ( in case AR really attents)? I won't be able to go there. Hubby and I planned to visit family in Cuba from June to July. this picture was taken by Olli Polter when Alan and Rima left the Electric Cinema Bar in London.Dee, when you come to London you really should visit the cinema. What is your location? GA Comments: Thanks Alfan! That really is a wonderful and generous offer! And its very sweet of you to offer it here instead of going the eBay route.
Alanfan, I hope you and grandson have a blast watching R&J! I know you will be very proud of your Tybalt!
Wow, I didn't realize we had some many friends affected by autism. For me, that only makes the release of Snow Cake even more important! DarkMark, I'm sure your Mother is proud of you and your siblings and thinks that you all are the heros.
LISA, you are absolutely right. There are some groups of HP fans that really don't have an idea of any of his other work. And that is a real shame. I hope the projects he worked on this year will change that to.
What is your location? Canada Comments: I just happen to come accross another McLeans magazine with the Wawa-Snowcake article in it so if anyone is wanting it, just let Claudia know or she will give you my e-mail and i will send it to you "free". It truly is a great article, i love the lines
"Weaver disappears ino her autistic character, Moss sits by the fire and Rickman discovers the butter tart"
Im off to work but will check by later and then tomorrow im off to Winnipeg for a wedding so i wont be around till Monday.
Comments: Lisa: Quote: I would love to see him do a panto, maybe he could join Ian next year and do one,now that would be worth every penny "Oh no he wouldn't!" "Oh yes he would!" etc etc They would make perfect Ugly Sisters though, wouldn't they.
Dark Mark, I'm sure your Mum wouldn't consider herself a hero. Mums just have the unlimited capacity to love their children whatever *problems* or ailments that come their way.
Thanks for the kind words about the paper.
What is your location? England Comments: Hey there peeps, Ist off, hope all had a great christmas and are going to have a good New Year... Thanks for the info on SnowCake,it does look like a great film, and I was wondering if it could be a nice little sleeper film, you know one of those films that has a lot of hearsay and becomes a huge hit,I want Alan to have a success with this film,I know he has many film and stage success's,but I want him to be more than just Snape from HP,and before you all say it,I know we on here do not see it like that, but a lot of people out there still have no clue to his other works.... I went to a pantomine yesterday and it was really good,Dick Witington,I was not all that fussed on going, but it was really funny, and I just could not help it,everytime the bad guy came on,I could just see Alan playing that part so well, eveyone loved the bad guy,and we all know that Alan can do that oh so well
Comments: I have Asperger's Syndrome, my 5-year-old brother is borderline autistic, and my 4-year-old sister is somewhat more autistic. Our mother is a hero I think.
Comments: Reedpipe, I have an 11 year old Grandson with Aspberger's Syndrome. He is the most intelligent child I have ever met. But anti-social in the extreme. He is coming to my house today, we are going to examine Romeo and Juliet. He is playing Tybalt in a school production, he has seen the Decaprio version, guess who we are watching today?

What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Alfan - I saw that thing at HPANA about the release date and thought the same thing as you at first. But if you read it carefully, that is merely a suggestion by HPANA to JKR for the release date. The fact that they are all "7's" - 7/7/07 and Dumbledore stating that the number "7" has especially magical properties (hence the 7 horcruxes) they thought it would be a neat idea. Who knows?....could happen. She is going to spend 2006 writing book 7 and by the time it is edited and printed, July 7th might be a realistic release date. But it's all up to JKR and at this point, it's too early to commit to any date.
Reedpipe - well, that makes three of us so far on this GB with autistic children. If you'd like, e-mail me privately and we can talk some more....thanks!
What is your location? GA Comments: Hi everyone! Better late than never, right?
Thanks for posting his art from Big Night Out, Elaine. And I totally forgot that I had the Free Tibet art on the site! I really need to turn some attention to the site, don't I?
The black and white pics from the Snow Cake clip are nice, Camerata!
I agree with Sue, Reedpipe. It really is nice to see comments from people that are living the subject of a film we can hardly wait for.
The Argentina wallpaper is wonderful, Sue! The splashes of red against the black and white is unique!
GG, maybe one of our channels will air the Charles (isn't he changing his name to George?) and Camilla show. I know I saw one of the channels doing a story on them and I started to watch it but I don't think it was called "Whatever Love Means" That title kind of suits them, doesn't it?

What is your location? UK Comments: Has anyone in the UK heard the trailer for the Charles and Camilla film "Whatever Love Means". There is a voice doing voiceovers that sounds remarkably like Alan Rickman. I have listened to it two or three times and if it isn't him then it is the next best thing. The programme airs at 9.00PM on ITV

Satai and Claudia~ Thanks for the wish.. I ask to come home from the mountain (Brastagi mountain!) today so i can download that SC video! And it's worth it! I like mountain but i love Alan even more! (Another OT..)
Inbredwaffle~ I happen to experienced that too! I was in the car with my whole family and then Alan read the sonnet! (My Little Bro who knows about my obsession just burst out laughing while my other family members just stare at me strangely!)
Hope i don't offend anyone.. I'm too lazy to put a message on the discussion board because i wanna put piccie!
Is this photo taken with the same session as the.. you know.. The red wall, table.. I don't know how to call it! The 8 picture of gorgeousness!
Comments: Dee, the actual picture he did is on the page I linked to, just scroll on down past the charity links. Reedpipe, it's always interesting to here from people who have a real-life slant on something a film portrays. I'm always a bit wary that sometimes movies make "a-disability-of-the-month" of a certain subject. It will be fascinating to see how the movie deals with autism.
What is your location? CT Comments: Happy Holidays, all! I've been unable to post recently because of Real Life with a Four-Year-Old and Six-Month-Old, but just had a moment to view the Snow Cake clip (thanks, CatsPlay and Claudia! I hope this wasn't too OT. And I'll add mine to the chorus of voices: Thanks, Claudia, for running such a great GB.
Comments: Thanks Elaine! That drawing was new to me!
Thanks Sue - I checked out the Free Tibet site, but AR's drawing seems to have been removed (unless I'm just overlooking it?). Does anyone have it saved somewhere?
The reason - I'm trying to create a site for my Famous ARt, and I thought it would be a great extra to include a complete collection of AR's personal art as well.

What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Sarah - I wasn't real impressed with CME upon the first viewing. But subsequent viewings have changed my mind. Come back to it after a period of time and you may feel differently....or you may not. I've never been able to get into Dark Harbor though.
CatsPlay - Your Hans wallpaper is now adorning my new laptop. Thanks!
What is your location? Massachusetts Comments: Sarah, don't feel too bad for stating your opinion about the movie. Not everyone can like the same films (we may like looking at him but not like the film-HA HA) I also disliked the film an awfully big adventure or AABA or its referred to in most cases. (it was too dark in nature for this woman) I like his lighter films but also like Die Hard too! I love TMD (Truly Madly deeply) and most recently I purchased The Barchester Chronicles which was a very delightful set of DVD's. So many wonderful actors/actresses were in it including Geraldine McEwan (The witch in the castle in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves) For Christmas this year, I received the CD from Love Actually as the music is just great. The film was excellent but to be viewed without kids around!!! Its rated R for a good reason..Bill Nighy was so funny in this film as Billy Mack and Hugh Grant made the cutest Prime Minister ever...Have you seen this one??? Sorry to ramble on. I have to go check out the links everyone has so kindly provided down below and look at all the photos you guys have provided.. Claudia, what other site do you have besides this one? Is it a Live Journal? I never go to the chat rooms as I find it easier just to type in this format. At any rate, Happy New Year all-have a nice evening Pam
What is your location? GA Comments: I have cut down the Dendy clip to just the Snow Cake part. There have been a few of our friends that has had trouble seeing the video on the Dendy site or the Quicktime file that CatsPlay so kindly uploaded for us last night. Its not quite as good as I wanted it. The sound is out of sync with the video but it isn't as obvious until the very end when Carrie-Anne Moss is talking. Sorry it didn't come out better than this but at least its in .wmv format and the file is much smaller than the original file. Now I think I am going to retire for the night. See yall tomorrow.
What is your location? GA Comments: Dee, the only photo that he took that I can think of is the one he took to raise money for the Alone in London. As for his art, there's quite a bit of that floating around. I'll have to dig around for it.

I love Poliakoff's films and I think the settings and whole feel of the film are wonderful and very much of that time. I never found the incest thing that yucky, maybe because the characters were not supposed to have grown up together or been particularly close. What is your location? GA Comments: Sarah don't worry, everyone has a right to their own opinions of his films.
Personally, I had to watch CME a couple of times before I was able to warm up to it but once I warmed up....I love it. In fact, I love just about all Stephen Poliakoff films now. But it was very difficult at first to get over the incest thing in CME.
AR said in the Gloria Hunniford interview that the part of Sinclair was written for him.
What is your location? UK Comments: Well now I've been an AR "fan" (for want of a better word LOL) for only about 7 or 8 months now and for Xmas I got half a dozen or so films that he was in. Tonight I sat through one of the worst films I have ever seen in my life!! I was told to watch this film and I would love it so I made sure that Father Christmas put it in my stocking on Xmas morning!! The film???? Close My Eyes!!! I am surprised that AR actually agreed to make the film I dont wanna offend anyone with this post and if I have then Ah well, I suppose I cant like EVERYTHING he's in, although the film was made better by the fact that he WAS in it lol if ya know what I mean! Am I in a minority here or do others share the same opinion as me about CME?
Comments: Camerata,
It is not 'my' clip. It was obtained from the film distributor's site at http://www.dendyfilms.com.au/ . The Yousendit is just a copy of their video file.

Welcome to Hermione (Alex). I'm always amazed when someone so young finds a 59 year old man so attractive. Well, you certainly have good taste!
Camerata - no that clip that CatsPlay found does not contain a hot tub scene. I read in an article somewhere (I can't remember where) that there was a scene with Alan and a girl filmed in a hot tub. It was an article that came out earlier in the year when they were still up in Wawa, Canada finishing the film. Maybe one of our sleuths can find it again.

Lex, I don't think the Manchester Utd Ruined my Life film was ever made. I think the plug got pulled after a change in tax laws over here. Jason Isaacs was due to be in it too and he emailed one of his fanpages at the time and said it had been cancelled.
That Acts of Charity piece has been floating around for quite a long time too. Still, maybe they will suddenly start filming it this year and surprise us all.

"But I do wonder given what it did for Hugh Grant's career if it might have inspired journalists to think of AR in another context rather than always hyping the 'villainous' roles he's played
Comments: Thanks, Elaine, I think you are exactly right ("What exactly is it?").
Comments: Thanks for the screencaps CatsPlay and Claudia
Re AR in 4 Weddings: I have heard that story before about the casting and it just seems an odd thing - Hugh Grant was just perfect as Charles. But I do wonder given what it did for his career if it might have inspired journalists to think of him in another context rather than always hyping the 'villainous' roles he's played. Looking at the breadth of AR's work, I would consider the truly 'villainous' roles small in number - but standing out perhaps because of his performance. Even the so-called 'bad guys' are richly layered and have interesting subtexts...
Comments: Tried enlarging a bit, here are the results, also like it in B&W, especially the sharper smaller one.
What is your location? GA Comments: I have to agree with Elaine on AR in 4WaaF. Actually, I think Hugh Grant was perfect for that role. I don't think I would like to see AR in a role where he has to be bumbling and on the verge of being an idiot. LOL
Oh I know....what a chore it was to have to go through ID again and again, Elaine!
Yep, that was pure gold, CatsPlay! It is unfortunate the first part he is in is to pixelated to cap, IMO. :-(
What is your location? France What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickmanparadise.com Comments: "4WAAF" was in 1994. I don't think that Alan was old to play the character played by Hugh Grant. He was only 48 and seemed 40. It was the Mesmer time Mmmmm lol
Comments: Cats Play, sounds to me like he says "What exactly is it?" (thingy tells him it is autism). I SO want to see this movie. Oh, have I said that before? *g*
Comments: Think I'm glad that AR did not take HG's role in 4 weddings. Maybe he would have been a bit old for it (when did 4W come out?). BTW, the other versions of that pic were not all that different! But, I had a lovely hour or so capping ID. SUCH a chore!
Comments: Severina, Laurie, Camerata, Claudia, Christina: Thank you very much for you nice words about my video. I'm glad you liked it ![]() CatsPlay: SO much for sharing that site with Snow Cake video and a link to download it! Can't wait to see that movie in cinema.
What is your location? Pittsburgh Comments: Morning all,
I knew I had stumbled onto pure gold when I found that clip, LOL! Question, can you tell what AR is saying in the part when he speaks? I have only listened with headphones so far but I am having trouble understanding what he says (oh, that voice, though...!). I am going to see if I can grab any other screencaps or pics. Unfortunately that first portion seems pretty pixelated.
What is your location? GA Comments: Woo hoooo, I have been watching the Snow Cake clip again! I feel so silly watching again and again...but what the hay!
Here's another cap from the clip. I know....its almost like the last one but what can you do with 3 seconds on screen? *grin*
Also, Dendy (God bless 'em) is going to be putting out some really interesting films this year...has anyone else noticed that?
What is your location? GA Comments: On a really serious note and I ask that everyone bear with me. Although the creation of the chat room and 2nd guest book has helped this book to begin to return calm to our AR forum, they have not helped in alleviating the nastiness and bickering among members of our group. Yes...it is VERY sad.
I am asking EVERYONE (and they know who they are) here, in the chat room, and on the other board to please stop the petty name calling, harassment, and pure nastiness to each other. If you all feel you must be nasty to each other, please take it to email or make your own "Nasty Board" so that you can post insults to each other all you desire. But please do not use the facilities I am providing to be nasty to one another again. No names, no sarcasm, no nastiness. Be it chat room or the two guest books. I have lost all my patience and I will no longer tolerate the ranting any longer.
Comments: sorry if this will seem like a fangirl request but CatsPlay, didn`t you have that program which enlarged pictures saving as much as possible of their quality? Can someone enlarge that picture just a bit? *big puppy eyes* Oh and I searched all the good movie sites I know and there`s not a trace of Snow Cake anywhere, at least not now. We should kep a look out for it these following days though. We might just have ourselves a late Christmas present after all.
Comments: Claudia - you never cease to amaze me...
Well done with getting that shot!
What is your location? rushing out the door What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://home.earthlink.net/~sa.pe/APLhome.html Comments: Wow! Big thanks for that clip, CatsPlay! And big thanks to everyone for the Role Not Taken info about 4WaaF--special thanks to INTJ for providing a cite.
I spent the holiday weekend unexpectedly encountering AR cognates (or tentacles, as some call them). Finally got around to seeing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (I'm slow, I know...) and was pleased to see Adam Godley (Victor in PL) and Missi Pyle (Laliari in GQ).
Then I did my annual holiday viewing of Bernard and the Genie and was gob-smacked with the realization that one of the films the genie is watching is actually RHPOT! While in the theatre, he shouts encouragement to Robin, then much later in the film he expresses his admiration for "great big Kevin Costner". Geesh--how many times did it take me to watch that film before I realized this?
My third tentacle moment concerns Clive Woodall's novel One for Sorrow, Two for Joy which I finally finished yesterday. Someone recommended it to me because of the character Traska, an evil magpie who would very appropriately be voiced by AR in the upcoming Disney animated feature (no date has been set, so far as I know, nor has AR been approached to do the voice, so far as I know). All that being said, AR could definitely do Traska in a walk. As a matter of fact, I think Mr. Woodall has probably seen RHPOT one too many times! Good book, however--if you liked Watership Down you will probably enjoy this also.
A good week to all!

Comments: Did several versions of this. Decided on this one.
Comments: Kathy - Sent you an email but it got bounced back to me. You are "over quota", whatever that means. *g*
Comments: Well spotted Cats Play. I'm getting more excited for that film every day.
David Tennant's Dr Who: I thought he was great but I was never that keen on Christopher Ecclestone. DT has launched himself into the character and I thnk will be really good. He's funnier than CE and I think brings some of the old "spirit" of Dr Who back wheras I thought CE was a bit too "human". The Christmas ep was really like the old eps where you had funny monsters and "cliff hangers" although being just an hour long, the plot was a bit weak, but there were some funny lines from Dr Who such as references to H2G2 that were worth hearing. The new series starts "proper" in the spring (they say) and looks good.
RickiNikki, love your huge "smiley".

Hi guys! Delurking for a second to confirm that AR was indeed the original choice to play the lead in Four Weddings and a Funeral. Here's a snippet from an interview with Hugh Grant (Chicago Sun-Times, November 14, 2003):
Q. You and Richard have been working together for so long. Can you talk about your collaboration and what makes it work?
A. Well, first of all, I should tell you that Richard wanted Alan Rickman to play the part in "Four Weddings and a Funeral." And I fought very hard for that.
The interview can be found here: http://www.suntimes.com/output/movies/wkp-news-grant14west.html
A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!

Comments: Im pretty sure this one is the rip off a day calendar that contains the Snape pics
Comments: Claudia & All,
re: the link that claudia posted to the calendar, just a word of caution -- I think there are 2 different desk calendars. I think the one Claudia posted to is one that I physically saw in a bookstore here -- it is more of a book size/journal, maybe 5x7 size -- AND -- the Snape deleted scene (snow scene) is NOT in that calendar. I think there were only 1 or 2 Snape pics in that one.
I think the one that Emily posted pics from is more of the square desk calendar where you rip off each day (Emily, correct me if I'm wrong). And that is the one that contains the Snape snow scene pic.
Again, the only reason I know is because I was excited to find the one that claudia linked to in a store, but of course I had to look through it all before buying and good thing, because the Snape pic was not in it.

I've seen Dead Ringers on BBC-A too and have never been impressed with their AR impression either. But some of their other stuff hits right on the mark. LOL
I'm interested in everyone's take on David Tennant's Dr. Who too!
Camerata, I read some where that AR was first in line for 4WaaF too but I've never been able to find anything of substanance to back it up. But you're right...its is frustrating some of the things he turned down.
Oh and here's the listing for the Goblet of Fire Desk Calendar at Amazon, Camerata. I searched Amazon France the best I could but since I used Babel Fish to translate what I wanted, I'm not sure if it was a good search or not. But I'm sure Amazon US would ship to France.
Daydreamer, thanks for the video! Very nice timing to the song.
I really like the pose on the March 16 scan that Emily posted. With his hair kind of hugging the left side of his face. Vicki, the Ides of March crossed my mind to but I was to lazy to look it up. Thanks for correcting me. LOL

Daydreamer, awesome video!
Comments: Elaine, BBC America was playing "Dead Ringers" last year, but hasn't in a while. I saw one with some guy doing a terrible AR impersonation as Snape, Sheriff and Hans.

What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Whoa!....I thought I was on to something there for a second. I was thinking, "how significant is it that Snape's picture appears on the ides of March!" But when I double checked the exact date, the ides of March is on March 15th, not the 16th where our dear potions Masters face appears. Dang...there goes another crackpot theory.
What is your location? GA Comments: Thanks for the pics, Em! After your first post, I was thinking that you must have had something AR under your tree. LOL

From the GOF 2006 desk calendar. There are 5 or 6 pictures of Snape in it.
What is your location? GA Comments: I want a Hans! Googleplunking is random, what librarians would call "blind," searching on Google. Just enter a term and click. It's like spelunking; you occasionally find gems.
Comments: Oh and I forgot Hans as well! What were those ones that Catsplay (I think) found the other day too?
Comments: Yes Lucy, they turn up every so often on Ebay. So he has been made into two models now what with Snape as well. I suppose you could say three if you count Marvin too. BTW what's googleplunking???
What is your location? GA Comments: Found this out Googleplunking: 1) I never knew there was a Sheriff of Nottingham Action Figure. 2) They could have bothered to make it look a little more like the real thing. Do love the packaging, though.
Comments: Although that article is dated recently, a little more digging shows apparently RADA has/had a program with Cunard (QM2), since 2004. I guess that means the program is ongoing into 2006. Sorry for posting old news.

A great find! I wonder what happened to derail that film as it sounded like a dead certainty with Kevin Kline and Mira Sorvino. Kevin Kline and AR in the same film would have been amazing - I love Kevin Kline - he's prob my second fav actor of all time thanks to Sophie's Choice and Dave (which also starred Sigourney Weaver!)

I dont know of this has ever been proposed before: I think a lovely Xmas pressie to Claudia would be a ARDH contributions page set up on PayPal or something similar. She works so hard and gives us so much - and we all have benefitted enormously from her generosity... every little bit helps - just a small way to say Thanks so much for all that you have done over the years... Metairie, LA Comments: Hey all...it's been about a week since my first post, and I wanted to thank you all for the kind hellos and the wonderful links you pointed me in the direction of. I'm loving them. My Alan obsession...errr...thing...has really only existed since about the summer, and has been in full force since November. I haven't been able to do much searching and hunting for everything Alan because I'm still putting my house back together from stupid Katrina. This computer took on water and it took me a little over three months to get it properly cleaned and working again...so I've been on a full Alan hunt for only a few weeks. I love the websites and the pics and the voice clips...oh mama mia! Thank ya'll so much for pointing me in their direction! I have this nasty habit of being a lurker, but I am here. Lisa I think mentioned that she would like to find Alan under her tree this morning...I hear you there!! A friend of mine in MI asked me what I really wanted for Christmas this year...and I told her Alan Rickman. hehe Unfortunately, she thinks he'd cost too much to ship...and she doesn't seem to think he'd like being stuffed into a box to be shipped in the first place. *sigh* I tried. Albeit, not hard enough. I hope everyone has a very Happy Christmas, and may all your dreams come true! Peace and Love, Laura

What is your location? London Comments:
Diaries… Before I leave I thought some of you did not read the following “bits” yet. Enjoy! Marc Evans: Director's Diary 1 SNOW CAKE Hello. I wasn't sure what I would write about in this diary. It's been over six months now since I finished my last film, Trauma, and it screened at the Sundance Film Festival to a rather mixed response. And it will be a few weeks yet before it is released here in the UK (on 27th August - pray for rain!). In the meantime not much has happened. I have been busying myself, more in hope than expectation, trying to set up my next film. A rather mundane process, to be honest, which can feel like wading through treacle while somebody keeps moving the goalposts! Days turn into weeks and weeks go by without much discernible treacle displacement... but then, occasionally, something actually happens to make you believe that the improbable is actually possible. And so it was this week. "ALAN RICKMAN HAS COMMITTED TO PLAY THE LEAD" Which means I am writing this from New York, where I am talking to some people about a wonderful script called Snow Cake. I am hoping this will be my next film, which I will make with Revolution Films in the autumn. Snow Cake (as the title suggests) requires snow, which probably means that it will be shot in Canada. But it is very much a British project, written by a first-time British screenplay writer called Angela Pell. And it is quite the most terrific thing that I have read in a very long time. So terrific, in fact, that Alan Rickman has already committed to play the male lead - a character called Alan, written with him in mind. Through him we have managed to get the script to Sigourney Weaver (they met while making Galaxy Quest), and she has responded favourably. Very favourably, we think… For further reading go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/directorsdiary/marc_evans_1.shtml Kevin Smith’s "Dogma Diary" "...We shot Alan in his wings and codpiece (or lack thereof). It took a few takes (uncomfortable ones for Alan, as he was carrying around fifty-plus pounds on his back) to get the wings operating properly, and the Ricker was a consumate pro and a trooper through it all, God bless him". We had a full cast rehearsal tonight (well, almost full - Carlin's not here yet). It was mind-bendingly good all around, with particular props going to Alan 'the Ricker' Rickman, who really knows how to intone "...wrath of God." "...Alan is schooling bxxx in flat-out performance clinics. It's an old story, but the man could read the phonebook aloud and you'd be riveted". http://www.dogma-movie.com/diary/march18.html Adrian Mullen's Arts Diary - October 10th - 16th By Adrian Mullen Film fans are in for a treat on Saturday, October 18, as Alan Rickman makes a surprise appearance at the Film Laundry, a new element to the Old Laundry’s annual autumn festival. Best known for his appearances in flicks such as like Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves, Die Hard, Sense and Sensibility, Truly, Madly, Deeply and the Harry Potter films, organisers have created an all-day event exploring the full range of the Hollywood star’s talents. Starting at 11am, at The Royalty Cinema, Bowness, he introduces films in which he starred (Galaxy Quest) or directed (Winter Guest, at 2.30pm) and later appears in conversation with radio broadcaster Paul Allen at the Old Laundry Theatre (5.30pm). Finally, the Royalty screens Sense and Sensibility (8.30pm). Lavender BluesCharles's diary on the making of Ladies in Lavender… London. July 10, 2003 Took this evening off for a party at Hilary Heath's (producer, friend, and the ex-wife of Duncan Heath, head of my London agent ICM). As ever, a good crowd of the usual suspects were there, all of whom seemed to know more about the preparations for my film than I did. Alan Rickman sidled up to me at one point and in that languid drawl of his said, 'Charles, I hear you're going to direct a film.' http://www.charlesdance.co.uk/lavender_blues.html
Alan Rickman quotes on acting: just three out of numerous I am hell-bent on defying your expectations, at every turn, and even if you don't like what's being done, I dare you to find it uninteresting. All I want to see from an actor is the intensity and accuracy of their listening. Each character I play has different dimensions. I'm not interested in words that pull them together.
Since the "file" is a bit long, I'll add the other part later on.
Comments: Meeresscten - sorry I posted your sighting from Suzanne's. I should have asked permission beforehand.

(well, just whats in the movie that we have all seen) but there is a nice obviously deleted scene with Hermione and Ron where she is telling him that Harry is his best friend. I for one think there is going to be alote of deleted scenes with this movie, and i hope the Snape/Karkaroff scene is one of them.

If it comes back to you, then it yours forever. If it doesn't, then it was never yours to begin with." and the way you applied it to their characters`s story in Love Actually! I have been bothered with that ambigous endind since I first saw it!

What is your location? GA Comments: Found this just now: from this site. Looks like the Japanese HP premier. Can anyone translate what's on the site?
Comments: It is interesting to see that those of you who use this gb as a general-chit-chat-meet-up-gossip board are posting that you don't want it changed and the rest of us don't say much because we, like Claudia, dread what we might find when we load the page up for the day's reading. As one who was here way back, I find myself leaving for days on end before coming back to have a quick check to see if anything interesting has happened in the AR world. This saddens me because I have met many friends here, (and still keep in touch OFF list!) and have always found something interesting about TOOOA. But I'm never here very long now because I skim over all the chat, find the odd thing that I may not know about, then go. I am amazed that I can run through pages without actually finding something interesting to read. What is more, it's only a few of you that have monopolised the gb and made it their own little "family circle" and those of us who want to post something interesting get ignored. If you don't like chat rooms then open an LJ account or a community of your own.
So this is something of what I feel. There are other things that I could bring up, but I won't. I think Claudia has been very tolerant so far and I know she spends a lot of time on this gb trying to keep it on an even keel. So, please, keep to topic on the whole, and PLEASE don't keep bringing so much se*ual innuendo into EVERYTHING. Just think how you would feel if you were him reading this book, or worse, RH!

What is your location? GA Comments: No offense taken, Meeressternchen. You may find posting a link easier for you but maybe its easier for someone else to copy and paste. I've done both here and at Suzanne's. As long as it properly credited (which Dee absolutely did), I don't see any problem with it at all.
As for questioning you on your sighting, I haven't seen anyone questioning you about your sighting here or at Suzanne's. We are happy that you saw him, we are happy that you shared it and that's that.
Comments: Dear Alan Rickman fans,
Comments: Claudia, no offence! I see nothing wrong with generally forwarding the postings, but I'd find it easier posting the link. However, I was talking about "details" which I will not go into - my comment is a general one and I just wouldn't like to go into a huge discussion of details. That's all. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
What is your location? GA Comments: Meeressternchen, I have often reported news from Suzanne's site just as I report news from here over there. There is nothing wrong with that at all. I think its a bit niave of you to think that something you post in one place will stay there. Might I suggest that if you don't want your personal sightings of The Man to be posted in other places that you choose a more private forum to post them.
Comments: I meant...once somewhere.
Comments: Dee, I am reading both forums and to be honest I'd prefer if my comment stays on the other forum. Anyone who likes to read it will have no trouble coming there and read it, will they? The reason for this is that I do not like to report much too detailed on others private life even AR's. Thus, if it is posted once someone, it is fair enough. I am sorry if anyone's upset because of this. Moro, I agree. There will be more events towards the fall, too, which celebrate the anniversary and may include actors and other people joining.
What is your location? GA Comments: Thanks Moro! That is definitely something we should put on our "eyeing" list.
What is your location? Pittsburgh Comments: Hey, I think I might actually be on topic for once! Found this info on the Royal Court Theatre's website-- there's no news yet as to who's going to appear, but it looks like something to keep an eye on, eh what? Quote:

RickiNicki! I love your reindeer graphic!
What is your location? GA Comments: Thank you SeverinaSnape. Of course I think I might have appreciated it more if you had brought your thoughts to me in email but I can assure you that when I found the current system, I had waded through just about every system imaginable for the easiest and cheapest.
I founded this board on the principle of sharing AR news, pics, sightings, and be a place where fans of Alan Rickman could discuss his talent and his work with an occasional brief factoid out of the realm of Alan Rickman. Unfortunately, it has evolved into a place that I am beginning to dread even loading onto my computer screen in the mornings. And that really does sadden me.
As many of you including myself have pointed out before, there are other boards out there....more private AR boards that encourage intimate friendship discussions on every topic imaginable. They are very successful and I even belong to a few of them.
I realize the chat room has helped a little bit and I will keep it but I also realize that unless you are online at the same time, its of no use. So I will continue on the creation of another open forum designed for just lengthy OT discussions.
I have tried to avoid hurting feelings here and believe me, this is not my intention but I do want this board to return to what it was 6 months or so ago. My license for this board expires in April so I plan to give it until then to see how things go. If we just can't get the old magic back, I am planning on letting it expire.
If any of you have any more thoughts on this, please feel free to email me. I'd love to hear and discuss all your thoughts. But please please please send them to me in email instead of posting them here.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled program......
Dee, the cards you posted are just to cute. I really do plan on using some of those plus others from the contest next year. Of course, I will credit who created it on the back. I think it will be fun!
What is your location? Off to the market to fight the baying crowds Comments: Roxysue: Thanks so much for the kind words. The picture in question I think is from Maureen Paton's Unofficial Autobiography of Alan Rickman (which he hates as he has said it is full of lies). I found it and a PDF of the book along with the other images from the book on a russian fan website ages ago. I will have to hunt around to see if I can locate it again and post the link...that book I think is also responsible for the nativity play photo of AR when he was just a wee thing...
I havent forgotten the posts to my LJ CatsPlay (dA AR & Snape art-I have an account there although my gallery is down - I belong to a number of AR/Snape Communities) and Christina (AR wallpapers and Icons from Radak's LJ) - just need to nip off to the market then I can sort out all those links and get the LJ entries done for you both.

that was something that just happened recently apparently and I just got a google alert for it...and having no recollection posted it...
With no threads to follow as in other forums there is no way to know what has already been referred to.... Severina, no worries. I just wanted to be sure that people get the right idea of your posting. It was not meant as an insult or a rebuff / rebuke. I hope you don't take it on me that I made an aditional correction there.
What is your location? Not in the chatroom Comments: Sev - I can't get the chatroom to work. I think it's because I use Firefox and I don't know how to turn the popup blockers off. I used to be more computer literate than this... sigh. One day I'll be just like my grandmother: huddled in front of the TV wondering what time it is because the VCR's flashing "12:00," and I fear technology too much to do anything about it. I love Garrison Keillor, too. I listen to A Prairie Home Companion on Saturdays (it's The Garrison Keillor Radio Show for all you Radio 4 listeners)-- he's another one of those guys with a pleasantly sonorous voice. Not sexy, necessarily, but rumbly, comforting, like sitting with a really good cup of coffee and looking out the window on a snowy winter evening. At least, that's what I feel like doing when I listen to him. ![]() You'll like getting The Writer's Almanac. It's a nice way to start the morning. Makes me feel like writing! Unfortunately, at that point I visit this board. I need to rethink my routine.
What is your location? Back home after battling in the supermarket Comments: Just want to wish everyone on the GB a VERY HAPPY AND JOYFUL CHRISTMAS AND A WONDERFUL 2006. Thank you so much , Claudia for all your effort running this site. As a complete computer novice, who can only manage e-mails, I applaud all that you do ! Thanks to everyone for all their hard work in posting AR info ( New Years resolution: learn how to post pics onto the site, oh! and lose weight !). Incidentally, Ar was on ITV 1 in Die Hard last night and HP, C of S is on over Christmas. Happy viewing ! Lex: v. sorry to hear of your loss, made particularly difficult at this time of year. You are in my thoughts. Likewise my best wishes go to Catsplay and Severina. By the way, Severina, I LOVED the pic you posted yesterday of a young AR on the beach. Phew !! Where did you get that from? Where and what year was it taken ? I'd not seen that before.
Happy Holidays, see you all in Jan !!

Oh, this rubs me in all the wrong directions:Quote: "It may.. be hypothesised that there is a place for a committee of safety conscious, talented writers who could produce high quality books for the purpose of injury prevention," they wrote in the British Medical Journal...The researchers did note that more interest in reading could prompt an increase in childhood obesity. What?! Whatwhatwhat?! Whaaat?! ![]() A committee of writers? Talented ones? And safety-conscious to boot? To write what? Harry Potter and the Very Sharp Scissors, wherein Our Hero must stop Colin McCreevy, who's been running up and down the halls at Hogwarts with a pair of Professor Snape's special hair-trimming shears, blades pointed outward? "Oh, no! Look out, Hermione!" Come on! My hubby, at this point, would say that this is all very typically British indeed. Someone think of the children! Yes, let's form a committee! But, oh dear, speaking of safety, an increased interest in reading among younger members of the general public could result in a long-term risk to the public health! Quick! Form another committee! And see to it that there's some complicated paperwork involved! ![]() I swore I'd never use the term in a public place, but ROTFL. My apologies to any of my British friends here whom I've unwittingly offended. I do love Britain. But this is one of those aspects of the culture that just drives me bonkers. ![]()
Comments: Just a thought, not meant to start a big discussion, just something for you to think about over the holidays....while I do understand the thoughts of wanting to move to a threaded GB format, I also think there is some 'charm' to the current format of this board, and its simplicity, and the resultant way that the conversations 'flow'. Like I said, I understand the thinking of wanting to go threaded, I'm just pointing out that I would kind of 'miss' this format in a way. In addition, I think it would change some of the spontaneity of this board. Anyway, I see both sides, and please, let's not bog down the board at the holidays with responses to this. We can discuss in the chatroom next time, OK? Just food for thought.

What is your location? London Comments: This is a long one so excuse the length.
I swore I wasn’t going to do this but here goes...mainly because I don’t see the point trying to run three separate guestbooks (this one - the all purposes HP one which has gotten beyond a spoilers forum for the 6th book - and an OT one) and a chat room. You can do it all in one space and with a lot less work.
A different forum set-up that uses standard 4th+ web generation architecture rather than 1st -2nd generation (the current setup) - there are 3 options here. One is free, two will cost in terms of web hosting – unless you find free space which can handle the technology.
There are two possibilities for the Top/OffTopic conumdrum:
First Option:
Free: ezBoard - ezBoard is quick and easy to set-up and use and members can help contribute to the forums Community Chest if you want Gold Status (more features basically). An Example of this is the HP/AR - related Magical Menagerie Forum. Have a look at the set-up. You have diff threads that you can subscribe to so that you are always updated. So: for the hardcore Topical enthusiast you can set up News, Picture and Media threads to which they can subscribe and get an email alert for updates. For the folk that want to talk about something else when info is thin or non-existent on the ground (or the official AR specific topic lends itself to something OT but interesting or still fun) you can set up threads according to topic and then sub-threads from there. In the MM there is even an area for members to have their own threads where they chat to other (the Post Office) and a thread that was set up where Members could have a good whine or whinge about anything (no personal issues with other members though - that is sorted out privately by the moderators). ezBoard also has a chat room (though not as fun as this one as its a new version and is in Beta stage). There is a thread for books and then there are the subthreads for each of the HP books. Same for the films. There is a thread for other books and other films – you can handle any topic individually and not all run together so that one thread gets confused or deviates from the subject. You can also see that emoticons are there in abundance and the graphics and look and feel of the forum is ever changing. Its up to who manages it.
http://p102.ezboard.com/bmagicalmenagerie
ezBoard lets you have up to 5 user accounts and they are managed through one control centre (I cant remember if this depends on whether or not you are a subscriber – probably does and I am because its cheap and I like the extra services made available to me – but I did have a free account at one point and it still was great). So I have an account purely for HP/AR things, and my other one is for more serious things like art, design and crafts. Each account has its own private message system so you get an inbox. with each.
The main ezBoard site is here: http://www.ezboard.com/
A serious advantage is being able to track who registers what name and being able to outright ban trolls and flamers and prevent them from posting. I have seen the forums I frequent use this to great effect and it’s all in the hands of whoever sets up and manages the forum. In the case of the MM – several friends set it up and have appointed members now to help moderate the houses and the overall forum threads taking the pressure off of one or only less than a handful of people to manage things.
Second Option:
Setting up your own forum using PhP - the most popular technology in use for such systems right now. The features you have depend on you basically. But again, the ability to track and block trolls/flamers, Private messaging, threads, subscription to threads and even a ShoutBoard – the basics are covered.
Three good and very popular ones are:
A. Phpbb (I see this one used the most for forums) http://www.phpbb.com/
An example of this is found on: http://www.pauldraper.net
The forum is accessible through the Splash Page but here is a direct link (its worth considering that the ARDH could do something similar)
http://forum.pauldraper.net/index.php
B. Simplemachines.org: http://www.simplemachines.org/
An example of this is
The forum is accessible through the Splash Page but here is a direct link (its worth considering that the ARDH could do something similar)
http://www.david-thewlis.com/davidforum_smf/index.php
C. Invision Power Services:
http://www.invisionpower.com/ip.dynamic/products/board/index.html
An example of this is found on: http://www.pauldraper-mansun.co.uk/
The forum is accessible through the Splash Page but here is a direct link (again, its worth considering that the ARDH could do something similar)
http://www.pauldraper-mansun.co.uk/forum/index.php
Now I must warn about ezBoard: it’s a brilliant system and it works – but it was prey to a hacker recently (another teenager with an axe to grind) and many communities were effected including the MM. No site online is immune to this no matter how many precautions are taken (David Thewlis Online suffered and has had to change their systems a couple of times because of members that hacked the site but they were tracked and banned – ISPs will cancel accounts when provided with the documentation as no one wants to support hackers or abusers of their services). As I am suggesting ezBoard then I need to put that out there. But at least with ezBoard you don’t have to manage the technical side of things yourself – a serious advantage unlike the second option (but a help desk is avail for each of the second options).
With all of these you can integrate the current media file system and archive the GB and you could just as easily link the chatroom even with ezBoard in lieu of using theirs.
So to sum up: a system that would work well would incorporate the following: the ability to track and block trolls/flamers, the ability to organise threads and being able to subscribe to threads and integrate current technologies with media and chat used by the GB. Moderators can be appointed for the different overall topics organised - case and point: on other boards they will close down threads that are duplicates and move sub threads that are set up in the wrong main thread etc...
For your consideration….
Comments: Wow, Satai that is great news!!!! I admire the effort you put in all of this! And you have succeded! Congrats!!!! This calls for a glass of wine!
Yeah, it would be great if he could manage to go to Berlin for the festival! I am so sorry, when was that again? when will it take place?
Dee - The Man is always on the run with shopping it seems! We would get along great, him and me! *wink*
Comments: Thanks Christina, Much appreciated. Although I've been sick, today's weigh-in more than made up for it! I lost 6 pounds! This also means that I broke the weight mark I've been stuck at for the past 3 months and have been trying to get past! I got on the scale today and literally screamed (so loud that they heard me back up in the front lobby) and flew off the scale before my nutritionist had a chance to record my weight. This means that I've now lost 47 pounds in 7 months!!!!! Sorry, I just needed to share. You all know how I have been trying to lose weight and what I think of my current self.
Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to the release of Snowcake and Perfume. Mostly Snowcake though. I love Alan, but I also love Sigourney Weaver and I really am anxious to see the two work together! I can't wait until it comes to the States!
What is your location? cleaning my office desk Comments: Good morning, everybody Stay as you are. I don’t mind to read some of topics if the OooA makes himself so scarce. What fund is there in life if you just stick to only one topic (which is a really adorable topic, I admit)
Dee, I love your Christmas cards. Tonight I’m going to watch episodes 3 and 4 from The Barchester Chronicles and I’ll be looking for the stockings. And don’t be upset that you live in Indiana. I believe it’s worse living in Germany (about 500 kilometres from Berlin) and I might not be able to make it for the world premiere of Snow Cake. I hope it will be on a weekend, otherwise
Anyway let’s hope that the film will be a big success at the Berlinale so the chance to see it in a cinema near you (or on DVD) will increase. And if Alan turns up at the festival I think there is a good chance to get some snippets on TV because the coverage of the festival is excellent. At least half an hour every day (even it is in the middle of the night).
I wish you all unhurried Christmas days. And those who are ill get well soon and stay well.
LG Chalebh

I have a few crancky neighboors here that really need to lighten up especially at Christmas time! Better yet! Imagine what their home is like for New Year`s! Satai - Hope you`re feeling better now! No, sadly, other than the Berlin festival there`s no news on Snow cake . As for Nobel Son, my mail account if filled with Nobel Son news! Just that they don`t include the movie! CatsPlay - thanks for the link to Deviant!!! I only had one of those pictures in a larger size!!!! The little penguin story is aaaww so sad...here`s to penguines everywhere! Funny chaps, deserve a beter faith!
I have encountered this at mugglenet and was so surprised in reading it that I had to share:
Doctors at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford recently conducted a very interesting study where they discovered that on Harry Potter book release weekends, only 36 children needed hospital treatment as a result of dangerous games compared with an average of 67 children on other weekends. The researchers looked at the weekends of Saturday, 21st June, 2003 and Saturday, 16th July this year - the respective release dates of OOTP and HBP.
Hmmm...to read...or not to read..?
Have a lovely day everyone!

Oh my gosh guys, lol. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to confuse anyone. As I've said, I've been sick ALL WEEK! Sue is correct. They are two DIFFERENT issues that I was ranting about in ONE post. Sorry for any confusion, lol.
Incidentally, being from Illinois, I may not be familiar with PennDOT, BUT, I am QUITE familiar with IDOT (or as they are more "affectionately" known as here, IDIOT). Like PennDOT, IDOT is SUPPOSED to maintain the roads, but rarely does (at least, I never SEE them do so), and when they do, like in Pennsylvania, it takes FOREVER!!!!! Hell, here in Chicago, the running joke is, "Chicago has two seasons...... Winter, and Construction!"
Severina, I'm SO SORRY to hear about your niece. That's awful. But I'm glad to hear that you heard from her finally.
Claudia, glad to hear you're feeling better. I think an additional messageboard/guestbook that is for off-topic stuff is a good idea. I for one HATE chat rooms and never go in them, but LOVE message boards. I like being able to post and come back later and see what someone else has to say and then be able to respond to it. Although, I would miss all the general interaction here that doesn't always revolve around Alan.
Oh, is this OT? I think I may be converting someone into a beginning Alan obsession. I FINALLY got my weight trainer to watch S&S (well, part of it) and before watching it, she couldn't fathom what I would see in a 59 year old man when I am only 31. Well, after seeing him in a couple of scenes, she now understands why I admire him so much.
Oh, Golf Wizard, that link to that video was HILARIOUS! Thank you!
Just wondering.... Does anyone have any new news on Perfume or Snowcake? I really want to see these movies!
OH, and last week I was watching In-Demand again and I just kept sitting with my face in my hand and sighing and staring dreamy-eyed at the screen while watching Alan and couldn't take my eyes off him. I seem to be overly obsessed with his mouth lately. No matter what I watch him in, I can't stop watching his lips move.......... Hell, just THINKING about his lips.............

What is your location? London Comments: Thank you all for your kind words after the death of my sister-in-law, which reached me when I needed a little break and read the postings on the GB today. It is difficult to find any comfort at times like this, but it helps to know that the thought of friends are with one. I hope that when we’ve got over things a little bit I’ll be able to talk about happier matters. I selected two quotes of Alan Rickman, which could be, in a way used to think a bit of Claudia's statement on off-topic postings here. Admitedly it is great to know that there's a place where you can "speak your mind" and share a common interest all at the same time. Although I do understand Claudia's wish to stay true to the GB's interest (AR and related things) She is doing such a marvellous job here and we can be glad to have her. Sad that people left just because of off-topic postings here. It is truly an excellent place to make new friends and have lots of fun even when it is not always about AR. The aim is never to generalize. That's your job. It's about seeing in three dimensions as much as possible. Maybe you'd get hurt by criticism, I don't know. Perhaps everybody does; I don't think anybody reaches a point where you're inured to it. Welcome to our group emilia, Dame Lurker Loo, and Lady Lurkee! We're a great group and I hope you will stay with us.
I don't see any negativity in Dame Lurker Loo's or Lady Lurkee's posts at all. They only made a statement about what this guest book was founded on....news and discussion and pics (many many many pics old and new) about AR. So I really don't understand why there are so many upset feelings.
I agree with Moro, Christina, Thea and the long list of others. We are a nice friendly funny group that cares about one another and loves to have a good time. We are also an intelligent group that loves to learn new things and discuss any thing at great length.
Of course all the well wishes to CatsPlay, Lex, and SeverinaSnape are welcome. That has been going on here since the beginning of this forum. The same goes for when someone is going to be a way for a long period of time. We've always wished them well on their trips, etc.
I know the next paragraph is going to upset people. This is not my intention. If I do upset you, please email me so I can explaining myself a better.
Yes, we go off topic when AR news is next to nothing and that is OK but I think its when we go days and days and pages and pages and posts and posts full of discussion about topics totally away from AR and personal things that makes for the unhappiness and I have to admit, I've been a little unhappy as well. We have lost a lot of original members because they don't want to wade through all the pages to see if there is news or new pics of The Man. It has been mentioned here on many occasions when someone comes back from an extended absence that there is to much to read. I actually experienced that while I was sick and came back to three new pages and I just didn't feel like wading through everything. I don't know about yall..but I don't want to lose one single member--old or new!
I have to agree with Sabine about the chat room. It was created for way off topic chat a little of which was going on in this morning's posts. I realize it is difficult to catch someone in the chat room some times and when no one's in there, its impossible to chat. So I am thinking (and looking around) for another forum to add (not replace) to our chat room tool. Until I can come up with something, may I suggest using email to schedule some "chat parties"? I'm feeling much better now and am looking forward to getting back into the chat room over the next few days--I'm shooting for this evening. Any one interested in setting up a "chat party", email me and I'll see if we can get something set up. I think it will be fun.

What is your location? buried in chocolate Comments: Thanks all - sincerely *HUGGLES*
CatsPlay - great news! Thanks for letting us know and I hope he gets back on his feet soon!
Re deviantART: First there are many AR and Snape artists there and several communities where artists share their work. Ellaiine (sp.?) is one of the best out there.
Two - you cannot post anything that is from a screen cap or is a photo that you have not gotten persmission to use. There are release forms that dA will ask for... and they do ban and without any warning when TOS is breeched
Third - dA's Terms of Service seriously infinges on artists rights. I have pulled my gallery as have many others and the full details are in my journal. They have given themselves plenty of loopholes to use artists work, for profit and without your consent. Many members have had Lawyers have review the situation - the fact that many galleries have gone (esp by well known artists) says a lot.
Dee I am on the lookout for a proper site with a reasonable TOS myself (for those that dont know I am a digital artist and graphic designer by trade and I also write). As soon as I have something I will let you know. But to be honest the easiest thing to do for now is to put them in Photobucket and do posts to your LJ account like I did. Its not ideal but its a start.
Comments: To quote Sabine from a little while ago:
What is your location? GA Comments: Just a reminder that Claudia created the chat room specifically for OT stuff, as a compromise for all of us.
What is your location? Pittsburgh Comments: WhoGirl - Ha! Thanks for posting that. Speaking of which, I seem to have joined the HBP discussion over on the spoilers board way too late-- no one's talkin'! Waaah, someone come play with me. Waah. (Oh, wait-- kathy has. Never mind. )Severina - I take it that your niece pulled through, then. Good. Hello Kitty hugs for her, too! I love the caption on that third picture, by the way. I did eventually notice the caption. *sigh* ![]() ![]() Oh, and Christinalanrickman - do not alanestimate the rickman power of the dARk side. Alan Rickman.
Comments: http://davekopel.org/Misc/Mags/Severus-Snape-The-Unlikely-Hero-of-Harry-Potter-book-7.htm I don't know if this will work as a link--it is a very interesting take on Snape I would be pleased to discuss on Spoilers page for those of you not smitten with HP--also thanks for the link to the Chrisitan take on HP very interesting---know just the person at my church I am going to forward to... ![]() Severina--glad you heard from family ![]()

Dee, might this be a good place for your ARtworks?
Comments: First! Moro, you are pushing you luck! If you get me started as well...You`re turning me to the Dark side! I was suppose to be Vader here! Severina - May God always watch over your family! WhoGirl- I can`t believe I forgot to mention that I read it this morning! Thanks for that!
What is your location? UK Comments: Severina - My thoughts are with you, your sister and especially your niece. I do hope you hear from them soon. Keep us posted when you have the chance to tell us how she is please!
And as for the OT and the "lurkers" out there who dont appreciate it, I think its what makes a board all the more interesting when theres no new news around. It helps us get to know each other. I wont go on cos others had made my point in their posts but if you want why dont you tell us some new news about AR to keep us all off OT's! (hhmm I'm sure now I've said that that someone else already has LOL Ok now I'll shut up)
Comments: Thea & emilia - wOw...lurkers who actually like us! You're both peaches for posting that! Thank you!
This may be old news: Did we know that costumes from S&S are on display at the The Society of the Four Arts' galleries (Palm Beach, Florida) through Jan. 6? Here's what it says about AR's costume on exhibit: "The military uniform Alan Rickman wore in the wedding scene from Sense and Sensibility persuades viewers, as well as Col. Brandon's bride Marianne, that he's far from the "old man in a flannel waistcoat" she originally supposed him to be." http://www.palmbeachdailynews.com/arts/content/arts/costume1219.html
Christina - My curse removal actually worked? wOw! Wonder if it was the "swish and flick" or my naked voodoo dance while swinging a dead chicken...
Severina - I believe it is very powerful when many people share prayers. I'm adding my own for your niece!
What is your location? buried in chocolate and potato chips Comments: Well I have finally heard from my mother about my niece - so posting OT here for prayers definately worked!
But as the subject is OT I will refrain from saying anything further and you can fill in the blanks...
OH - AR -
What is your location? Pittsburgh Comments: Hey guys! For those of you who don't frequent MuggleNet, you might have missed this, so I thought I'd post it here. This is a quote from one of their editorial columns called "the Underground Lake" and I thought it was rather amusing
The teachers were up to their usual standards. I have to say that though I love the Alan Rickman "Snape" (notice I said "Snape", because there is a vast difference between the Alan Rickman rendition of "Snape" and the literary character TFPWWNBN - the Alan Rickman "Snape" is not yet complicit in the murder of Dumbledore therefore he is not at fault... YET), they are severely falling behind in the scope of his evil. Though the "smacking the trio" scene was hilarious, it was not nearly the level of supreme meanness that is TFPWWNBN. By this point in the novels, TFPWWNBN was livid at Harry's escape from expulsion in Book Three, thus compounding his hatred and open hostility toward Harry. If they intend to do away with most of the Marauder storyline (which I feel they will and will get to a little later), then basically we have a kinder gentler "Snape." But I just realized something! If they pursue this course with "Snape" in the films, then when we get to movie six, those who have seen the movies and not read the books will receive the shock of all time. "Snape", the delectably evil, yet subtly charming Potions master, is in fact Dumbledore's murderer!! It'll be so shocking in that respect. Therefore, forget almost everything I just said. Go Alan Rickman! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
