What is your location? Massachusetts Comments: Over at thr discussion site, Dee mentioned about the movie book made for RHPOT. She is quite right as it does have quite a few errors in it, but if you can, get a copy as the photos are quite gorgeous. I found mine at our Friends of the Library book sale. Keep Smiling-it makes the world a better place-Peace and love Anyway, have a nice evening everyone...
What is your location? Massachusetts Comments: Have been enjoying everyones pics, information. Good job to one and all.
Comments: Rachel - For future reference - I did a search (on Yahoo!) on 'time zones' and came up with a couple (at least) of websites which translate times for you. You could have put in the times given in the post and ask it to translate into Eastern time and it would give it in the form you're accustomed to seeing. I can't remember the websites, though.
It seems to work well.
Comments: Yay for Perfume! What about Nobel Son? We never seem to talk much about this.
Comments: PERFUME!!!!!! Perfume is rumoured to be released in Germany on 14th September according to comments on the IMDB!!! September is soooooooooooo far away!! Leanne -x-
Comments: Rachel the times given for the press conference are 2.45pm (Central European Time) which is 1.45pm British time(GMT) and if you are Eastern America that equates to five hours earlier than Britain which by my reckoning is 8.45am. Likewise the Red Carpet will be approx 7.00pm (Europe),6pm Britain and 1pm Eastern America.
Comments: Crap didn't say I want to know what time time it will premiere live in eastern time.
What is your location? Virginia Comments: That is great that there going to have the premiere live but I don't know the time. I read umm.. can't remember her name. Anyhoo and it said the time but i didn't understand it, look like military time and I don't read military time.
Bye ~Rachy~
What is your location? Canada Comments: Hang on to your hats ladies and cross your fingers. (from mugglenet)
"the rest of the cast signings, including major parts, are to be released within the next 24 hrs."
you know, i dindt realise that not only Snape but many others too MgGonnagal, Hagrid, Sirius, and Dumbledore.
What is your location? GA Comments: Thanks Em. When I couldn't find it on Wikipedia again, that was what I was afraid of.
I think when someone here first found it a few months ago that we all kind of thought it was a hoax.
What is your location? GA Comments: Oh sue, it was really fantastic to watch. I saw in the opening that they've done Jane Horrocks and Sheila Hancock as well.
Luckily, I did see one of the touching moments for Stephen Fry and I shed a tear myself so if there were any moments like that with the Lamm children, well....I just don't know if I could take it.
Sorry yall...I know this OT.
Comments: "Ultimate Team" was removed from the Wikipedia listing after it was found to be a hoax. The information about UT was challenged by some readers and flagged for investigation (you can challenge statements in Wikipedia and then the site maintainers are forced to investigate).
If "Ultimate Team" shows up on any other websites under AR's work, consider the source and assume that site took the bad info from Wikipedia.
What is your location? GA Comments: The only place I've seen The Ultimate Team referenced as a film AR would star in is at Wikipedia and then it was very skeptical. I just popped over there and tried to find it again with no luck. Bluebeatbabe, where did you find it?
Comments: Can you point us in the direction of the sites where this "Ultimate Team" is mentioned, BBB?? I haven't seen it on any of the usual places.
Comments: Claudia, hope you get to see all that Stephen Fry programme that was braodcast here last week. Naturally there were no "happy endings" for that side of the family but the whole thing was very moving. I had tears running down my face as well as Stephens. The whole series so far has been fascinating. The first programme featured Jeremy Paxman, one of our hardest nosed political interviewers. He was reduced to tears with his family history as well. As both he and Stephen Fry commented "We don't know we're born" when contemplating the lives of our recent ancestors.
What is your location? Sheffiels-UK Comments: Claudia, Elaine, anyone...? Dou have any info on 'The Ultimate Team'(2006) which I have seen listed on more than one website under Alan's films...perhaps one in the pipeline or 'Not Confirmed'...I am curious. AND Congratulations Alan...I am dead chuffed...hope you are too!!!!(MNIRC) ![]() ![]() ANYONE LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT WEEK ?
Comments: Hello everyone!
Because I absolutely love this site and I very frequently download files from here, I thought I should let you in on several news that have been out since yesterday on Mr. Rickman. Maybe some of you already know.
Alan won Best Director for My Name is Rachel Corrie, in the Theatregoer Award’s 2005. The awards were voted for by the public through the WhatsOnStage website. My Name is Rachel Corrie also won Best New Play and Megan Dodds, who portrayed Rachel Corrie in the one woman play, won Best Solo Performance. The awards were announced yesterday at the Critics Circle Theatre Awards.
Also, Alan is to attend the premiere of Snow Cake on February 9th 2006 in Berlin at the city’s film festival.
Have a nice day,
Anca
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Chalebh,
Thanks for the details on the video events. Note: I have a broadband connection and a week or so I went into the archive and watched a video and I was quite impressed with its quality. In addition, I was pleased to see the length -- if I recall, the press conference video that I watched was an hour or more long. YAY!
Comments: Chris (and others who are interested) The press conference for Snow Cake will take place at February, 9th at 14.45 CET (which is GMT +1 hour). That will probably be the time when the live streaming for this press conference begins. The Red Carpet for Snow Cake will be the same day at 19.00 CET or a little bit later. The screening is scheduled for 19.45 CET (unfortunately now live streaming But if you miss the live streaming these two events will certainly be in the video archive.
AFAIK you don't have to register on the site, but you need to have a really fast connection. I tried to view one of the videos in the archive, even with the lowest resolution, no chance.

CatsPlay, no there is no interview on that promo Hitchhiker's DVD.
Susan, thank you so much for sharing that video link. For those of you that might be wondering. Its the show "Who Do You Think You Are" featuring Stephen Fry's genealogy search. Its fascinating! Susan, can you tell me if the video clip actually ends right in the middle of SF's results in finding the Lamm children or did my 'puter cause the download to stop short??? I want to know about those children! *grin*
Comments: Jan, you can have one of my DVDs of DIe Hard ,if you want, I bought 3 of them looking for that interview...sigh! Feel free to email me about it
Comments: What is wrong with me? And don`t answer that! Thank you Sue, always to the rescue! Should I add a hunga-bunga to this post? Do I have to register first? And do you know the exact hour? I am waaaay behind with this!

Ummmm........ looks like it!!
HERE are the videostreaming details.
Comments: Susan, I get "the file you requested is not available" on the link you posted.Maybe it expired? Orikono -I`m looking forward to those appearences too! And wait a second, this just hit me? Am I really stupid or braindead or something? Will the show (Berlin) be broadcasted live on the internet?! Have I been living in a cave until now?! Marta - Estoy segura que hablo por todas aqui cuando digo que me alegra much el echo que decidiste a acompanarnos! Y no te preocupas por el ingles, hay muchas aqui que no lo hablan como primer lengua. So you`ve met the man, eh? Lucky! Lucky!
What is your location? London Comments: So many exciting new pictures and news! Thank you everyone!
Berlinale is coming up next week - won't be able to go to Berlin but will definitely watch the live show via the internet. Luckily, I don' have class that day!
Catsplay: If my memory is correct, I don't think there was any interview with Alan Rickman on it. And, thank you for the link to David Letterman's site for Emma Thompson's interview. That was awesome!!
*************************************************
Claudia: Thanks for lettming me know the link that Catsplay had posted. In your last post, you said:
"Jan is working with me on getting me her appearances on Ellen and Conan too. She really looks fabulous and as usual...she is funny as heck!"
Does this mean I could get to see her soon? Then, thank you and thank you to Jan!!! I know I shouldn't really be talking about Emma Thompson here but...forgive me...
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Does anyone know if AR is interviewed at all on this promo disc for Hitchhikers?
Comments: Speaking of Rima, I thought that was her sitting next to Jarvis Cocker at the South Bank Awards? But maybe not...
Comments: ¡Bienvenida Marta! ![]()
What is your location? Spain (Madrid) Comments: Hi!!
Well, the first, sorry for my English is very very bad, but I want write in this web, in this place, Alan Rickman is my favorite actor, and I had the honor of saw to Mr.Rickman in April, He was in the Royal Cout Theatre with the play "My Name is Rachel Corrie" My moment, my favorite actor in front of my. Waauu Only want say that thanks for Claudia and her work in this web, it´s great! Kisses!! +Marta+ PD- Happy Birthay Ms. Rima Horton!
Comments: so nice to see all the latest alan chat He certainly is looking well. Very glad he won.
here is something nice......not alan but nice all the same

Comments: Claudia, I mailed the SouthBank Show dvd to you today so hopefully it should arrive next week. No sign of your package yet though.
What is your location? PA USA Comments: Camerata: I can't find the Die Hard interview on Download Haven in either Television or Film sections but I did find something in a search a week or so ago, but it's just Alan speaking a short bit and no interviewer or questions, I don't think. I have it and will have to check it out to be sure.
Ali-Pat: That is interesting about the different views - I saw a mention of it on the Amazon listing but wasn't sure what it was. And, though I missed it below - many happy years ahead to you!
Laura: It does seem like there are different things on different Regions. The one on Amazon (Region 1) lists an interview with Alan Rickman, as well as others, under the Subtitled commentaries as Ali-Pat described.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your input. I'm getting the idea it's not worth buying this one unless I can find a used one very cheap. Don't the people who put out these DVD's realize what's really important - ALAN, ALAN, and more ALAN?!!!
I also hope Rima has a happy birthday and many happy returns. I think it would be difficult to be in a relationship with an actor, especially one who travels a lot (for me, anyway), and they have been together for a long time so it must be really working for them!

.. My Name Is Rachel Corrie, Alan Rickman and Katharine Viner’s monologue based on the writings of the late American aid worker, is the biggest straight play winner, triumphing in three categories: Best New Play, Best Solo Performance (Megan Dodds) and Best Director for Rickman. ...
Comments: Thanks Claudia, for fixing my last post! ![]() You are right Miriam. In AR's words she is a candidate for sainthood. ![]() (Something like this, I can't remember the exact phrase.) I don't know any of them personally but let's say they are both lucky to have each other. Seems to me like a good guess. ![]()
What is your location? US of A Comments: Elaine: I absolutely agree with you! I was just telling Elisa that this morning. It should come out in the UK first - it only makes sense (even though I can't wait to get it myself).
And why, oh why is it coming out in China first??? Nothing against China - it just doesn't make sense to me to be first. . . . I'm not even sure why it has such varied release dates all over the world. Why not coordinate it so it comes out pretty much everywhere at once? Oh, well, that's for the executive types to decide, I guess, and they don't care what we think.
What is your location? Almelo, the Netherlands Comments: Hello,
Rima is a year younger than Alan, so she turned 59 today. I wish her a very happy birthday and a happy life. I hear very often that she is lucky to have Alan (and I am sure she is), but I would also like to say that he is lucky with her. I don't know her personally - has anyone of you ever met her? - but I think she is a very friendly and warmhearted person and she is Alan's support. I really wanted to write this tribute to her. Behind a good man stands a great woman.
Comments: ![]() ![]()
Comments: I think she's arriving to her 59th birthday. (Otherwise, consider this my second blooper in a row.) Of course she will have a very Happy day! Lucky lady! Or maybe not, life is really odd sometimes... Anyway... Best wishes to you Ms Horton!
So, it is not probable another AR overdose? *sob*

Laura--the Die Hard DVD I am talking about is the Five Star double DVD in the silver box. As far as I know it is the only 2 disc DVD of Die Hard in Region 1. Anybody know of another? BTW, you can see it here (if the link isn't too long, that is). [View Entry]
What is your location? Munich Comments: Maybe everybody knows - but how old is Rima?I need it for a horoscope. I hope Alan and Rima will have a romantic dinner in the evening.

Well, i'll keep my fingers crossed for everything then
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS HORTON!

Comments: Im pretty sure that is the result Claudia. Like I said, it appears that the critics make a choice, and the theatergoers. AR appears to have won the THEATERGOERS choice for Best Director and Best Play so far. Megan as best solo actress is still to be announced.
What is your location? UK Comments:
I'm 95% certain you wont see any photos of AR at the Critics Circle Awards. I'm not there myself today as I had a job booking near home and the general concensus of opinion amongst the London snappers was "its a waste of time".
Waste of time celeb wise that is. To be honest, the people that are winning the Critics Choice Awards (except Michael Grandage) I have never heard of!. The Whatsonstage Awards are just an 'add on', an opportunity to announce them at a function, because they do not hold a function themselves.
If you look on GETTY IMAGES, Gareth is in the Press Room taking photos and has only shot the few odd presenters (Haydn Gwynne, Tim Healy etc) and the CC Award winners that are present. NONE of the WOS Award winners are there - at least not being led into in the Press room for photos
If you look at WIRE IMAGE, Shami has got the even shorter straw, with a handful of people to shoot as they arrived. He's long since left and gone back to the office. Kevin Spacey is a big name, but we all shot him last Thursday at the GREAT BRITON AWARDS (yes, I know he's american).
I might be wrong , but dont get your hopes up for any kind of sighting of AR at the CC Awards today
What is your location? GA Comments: Oops...CatsPlay is right...not sure if that is result or not. We'll have to wait.
Sue, there's some nice Getty pics of Kevin Spacey at the Critics Circle awards!
Comments: Just an update, it appears that the 'critics' award a selection in each category and there is a second selection for the 'theatergoers'. Best Director has now appeared on the page and I *think* it indicates that AR has won. I'll stop posting on this now and wait for the written results. Some pics of arrivals on WireImage but no AR so far.
What is your location? GA Comments: He's been named best director for the Whatsonstage awards!!!!

Happy birthday to Rima Horton!!! We all know her AR dreams are going to come true!
I have been looking over sue's screen caps again!!
Elaine, I'm sure everyone will use the HP Spoilers board and the Discussion Party boards to post any HP-GoF DVD spoiler comments, caps, or art at least for a little while.
Comments: They are beginning to publish the winners at the Critics Choice Theatergoers awards... so far nothing yet on the categories AR and MD are in....

Comments: Is this a different edition, Ali-Pat? maybe it's different because region 1 or 2?
What is your location? can I get back to you on that? What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://home.earthlink.net/~sa.pe.APLhome.html Comments: Jan, two more DVD extras on the DH special edition. There is an interactive feature where you see the scene just before Hans shoots Takagi from several different camera angles. You get more or less of Hans, depending on which you choose, and it includes footage not seen in the film (just a few frames). Second thing is written commentary that rolls along the bottom of the screen. Several actors contributed to this, including our Alan.
Comments: Sue, thanks again for the screen caps! And RedTango your stories are soooo funny! ![]()
Comments: Jan, I have the 2 disks edition of DIe Hard, region 2, bought here in Italy. It is the same 100% interview that you get in the dvd out for rent, grrrrrrr. There is a whole dvd of extras but AR is only in this short interview. If anyone has a different interview, longer or anything, can please give details of what/where(WHY???LOL)?
What is your location? France What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickmanparadise.com Comments: Jan : in the Die hard Collector edition, you can see in the bonus (with Alan) : 2 sort of bloopers and an short interview of Alan which is on Claudia's website I believe or you can see some photos of it at the end of this page : http://rickmanparadise.free.fr/diehard.htm
Comments: Okay, stupid stupid (insert very bad word here) Warner Brothers are not releasing the GoF DVD here until 20th March - 3 weeks after the release in the US! British cast, British writer, filmed wholly in Britain and we have to wait! I am fuming. So I am also pleading to those here who will get it before us - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT post any caps, vids, spoilers, from it until we have had a chance to get our sweaty little hands on it! PLEASE ..PRETTY PLEASE!
And that includes wallpapers, icons, manips and everything!
Glad to see AR was at the South Bank Show. I recorded it too so am off to peruse it, maybe get a vid....
Comments: Claudia: I think you should delete the post of this "Doctor".
And about Ian McKellen. He'll receive the honourary bear at the 11th of February.
Snow Cake: I've heard that the local TV station RBB will broadcast the press conferences from the Berlinale the same day at night, so I'm trying to set up a satellite dish to receive the program. If this works I'll be able to videotape it.
Thanks for the new pictures.
Chalebh
What is your location? PA USA Comments: To anyone who has seen the 2-disc Die Hard DVD: Do any of the outtakes include scenes with Alan??? And is the interview with him mentioned on the Amazon.com description very long???
Thanks for any help anyone can give me. It sounds kind of petty, but the only thing I like about this movie is AR but I'm considering buying this copy just to get the extra stuff - otherwise I wouldn't!
What a great Alan day this was, eh?
Comments: Oh my... What a blooper... ![]() *running away from the crime scene* ![]() ![]() Thanks for the explanation Catsplay! ![]() Bad Google alert... how could you trick me that ugly... ![]()
Comments: Nahima
The 'attendance' is in reference to the party in November that was held to announce the awards. These were the photos of AR in the black leather jacket and black bag.
The announcement of the winners is held tomorrow, 1/31. It says something about a ceremony for the winners only, I think. Of which we assume AR and Megan are. So maybe more sightings tomorrow?
Comments: I received this alert right now! Critics' Circle & WOS Reveal Award Winners Today "Amongst some of the guests in attendance were: Alan Rickman, Jane Krakowski, Jenna Russell, Suranne..." This is another event, isn't it? ![]()

What is your location? Canada Comments: I think that he was probably asked if he likes filming in LA ( we all know how he feels about the American film indurstry) and by the look of his first word "but"he decided to elaborate more about how he feels about LA. This is the quote.
" But I enjoy being in LA. I drive a car there and dont at home. Its disgusting and wonderful, like going to Dunkin Donuts every day."
Uh, you drive in LA but dont in London. I have to agree with him, i drove in LA and i didnt find it to hard considering i come from a little place up in Canada where 2 lane roads are a rarity. But maybe since he took his license test in LA, he isnt use to the backward driving in London even though its not because he is from there and American driving should be confusing,,,,,,oh hell, im confusing myself. Headache--must go rest.

Comments: OK that's your lot! Just got to the end of the dvd! I recorded it on HQ setting so I missed the last 5 minutes but saw that on the Sky+ box and there was just a fleeting glance of the back of AR's head
Comments: OK now we get in even closer!! This is from when he was watching Helen Mirren introduce an award for Wallace & Grommit:
There was a nice bit whilst Sir Ian McKellan was feting Dickie Attenborough with Alan having a good laugh but Jarvis got his bloody head in the way again
What is your location? New Zealand Comments: Sue, thanks for those photos. You are a master technowizard and have really brightened the day.
What is your location? GA Comments: Dee, you raise a very interesting question.
Although I could not be more thrilled that SC is premiering at Berlinale in February, I have to admit that I really was surprised that the premiere wasn't at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
Comments: Sue - Thank you so much for the screen caps. It's hard to hold back my squees until I'm in the Discussion Room! I noticed the hair too. Many of the recent sightings have specifically mentioned how grey his hair looked. Wonder if he did something special for the awards or if it has something to do with an upcoming project?
With all the excitment about Snowcake at the Berlin festival, do we still think there will be "something" in Wawa or Toronto?

What is your location? Canada Comments: Apparently he likes buy his pants a wee bit to tight! If you check out Kevin Smith's diary from dogma it tells a story of when Alan went jogging ( huh,m didnt know he did that either) one day in Pittsburg ( where they filmed Dogma ) and decided to stop in one of the more exclusive shops and according to the clerk he was a "a wee bit stinky and sweaty" and bought a pair of "way to tight pants". And i think we have been treated to a few of those pants over the years and those pictures are no exception, but he does look mighty fine ( a wee bit bored in those pictures but sweeeet looking).

Bluebeatbabe, I've always gotten a giggle out of that line "If you cursey, I'll kill you!" because the only picture from that event that I know of is the one with AR, KW and GW right in front of Prince Charles so I've always pictured AR trying to say that line under his breath at KW. LOL
Comments: OK, these are from during Daniel Radcliffe's speech. Don't why I capped them all as all similar but I think I got hypnotised by Jarvis Cocker's glass movements!
Haven't watched it all yet so will check back later if there are any more. Sorry for the "overkill" but I know you want them really!!
What is your location? Sheffield. Comments: Watched Southbank Show last night...and there were some lingering shots of Alan on at least 4 or 5 occasions...he looked really relaxed, like he was enjoying himself...Eric Sykes was hilarious...I did n't see Rima in the crowd or sat near Alan but Juliet Stevenson was there and I think Emma Freud and the 'usual suspects' Hope someone managed to record this, ...erm..for posterity, no, for all the lovely ladies on the GB ! Helen Mirren was there , too, I was kinda hoping Alan might present an award but , no, the camerapersons (have to try to be PC ) were good to us lingering on his beautiful face on several occasions. I think Mary Stuart won in his category for which MNIRC was nominated. Thanks everyone for all the pics and Ali-Pat , I did try to wish you a Happy Birthday on your special day but for some reason the GB was not processing my posts, I think it was my computer bliping !.so I hope you had a lovely day!. Spoiler for anyone who has not seen the film ! which is probably few on this GB! Managed to see Quigley and at the end of the film there was a paragraph stating 'No animals were hurt or killed during the making of this film' and I thought...'But ya killed Elliot! Managed to see some of the tv videos over the weekend from the GB and was tickled by the story of Alan at the Sense and Sensibilty Premiere stood next to Kate Winslet waiting in line to meet the Queen and he said and I quote ; 'If you curtsey, I will KILL you ' ..just in the way he said it at Chelsea... ! Good Working class boy Alan ... who has n't forgot his roots !

Comments: Ali-Pat:
Chris: I really had planed to go to the premiere of Snow Cake (and see the film), but that was before they made it the opening film. I don't complain because it is a really big honour. Unfortunately for the opening film you won't be able to get tickets because of all these wannabe VIPs. I fear you won't see much of Alan along the Red Carpet because of all the photographers etc. And sadly enough a Thursday isn't a day to take a day off from work to travel to Berlin and return in the night. And more so to make a second trip just to see the film. Even with my job I can't afford that. So I cancelled all plans I made between the years about the Berlinale. I cross my fingers that the film will have good critics and make the step to the cinemas.
Hikity: Did I miss something about the Closet Land script?
Btw: Thanks for the pictures.
Have a nice week Chalebh

What is your location? UK Comments: He's at the South Bank Awards. The camera just paused for several seconds on him.
Comments: Keith, are you still here? Just curious. Did you (or your photog friends) feel like AR was "avoiding" the press, or did he just happened to go in a different way? If you feel he was trying to avoid the photographers, do you have an opinion "why" he would do that?
What is your location? London Comments: I have to agree it's really a well-written book! When I was at school we had to read Perfume and I was thrilled. I think it was the first book that blew me away! But also I can understand if there are people who don't like the book. It is a strange book but when I was at school I had to read between the lines and analyse the characters. In that way I learned to love the book. I think it's like Marmite, either you love it or you hate it. But still if you try more and more you will love it in the end, just my 2 cents. ![]() I just can't wait to see that movie because I fell in love with the book 6 years ago! And as there is such a great cast, especially Tom Tykwer and AR... I'm really glad that Tom Tykwer was chosen to direct this movie. In my oppinion he definitely IS the one who can adopt this special piece of writing and making a wonderful film out of it! And having read only good things about Ben Whishaw I also think he fits perfectly as Grenouille! September seems to be such a long time though *sigh*
Comments: I agree with you Miriam, that wig is annoying. Antoine is not supposed to look old, in the book he is planning to get marry again in a near future to have a son. IMHO a brown wig would have been a better option. (Or a Loreal light golden brown, he worth it!) ![]() I don't get the chinese thing, anyway: Happy everything to everyone!

What is your location? Almelo, the Netherlands Comments: Hello there,
If I am well informed, Rima's birthday is on January 31st (this coming Tuesday). Her birthday is exactly 3 weeks before Alan's (and mine is exactly 3 weeks AFTER his.. ha ha ha). She will be 59 already. If I see pictures of her she doesn't look that "old" yet. Neither does Alan. I can hardly believe he will be 60 already. However, I have to say (I hope you are not angry with me when I write this) that that wig in Perfume does make look him old. As Snape he looks much younger. And I also like the pictures I have seen so far of Snow Cake and I do look forward to seeing it. I hope we will be able to see it here in Holland.
What is your location? GA Comments: AFNH - in case you somehow find a computer to check the GB: hope you'll feel better soon! We miss ya!
Comments: Ha ha ha Catsplay! I imagine your face when reading you-know-what. Well, I do recommend the book. I have it in spanish and confess that in the first reading I found it dark and a little bit disturbing. I liked it much better during the re reading, after knowing the plot I found it easier to analyze the characters. I think it is more than a paternal gesture or maybe it is but with some kind of mixed feelings behind it. Just the way he loved his daugther. Anyway, you have to read the book in order to do your own interpretations. I can't wait to see it on the big screen!
Comments: Thanks for all the new pictures, video´s, icons and info. And of course a BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ali-Pat! ![]() Isn´t it Rima´s birthday one of these days?

CatsPlay, although the book is very well written, I had a hard time getting into it. Once I rented the available Tom Tywker films available in NetFlix and found what a fantastic director he is, I went back to the book and was able to finish it.
And I agree with sue....the kiss is very paternal!
sue, I bet you will be surprised with the South Bank Awards. I remember last year SuzyQ recorded the Empire awards (just in case) and was surprised off her chair to see our fella there. So you just can never tell!

Comments: There is a tiny, icon-sized picture of AR on page 21 of the Feb 3 Entertainment Weekly. It's part of a silly grid about "Die Hard" rip-offs, having to do with the new Harrison Ford movie. The picture is from the London POA premiere. It might be this one, or one very similar.

Thanks!!!
Comments: We are indeed to be pitied, all of us - apart from Chris of course. Yeah Hikity, I read an article in the Bild Zeitung (yellow press) that Chris will have dinner and afterwards a stroll along the Ku'Damm with our man. But this is getting OT, so Chris, defend yourself in the OT guestbook
Comments: Chris, rumour has it that he invited you for dinner at the Adlon's... Peekabooh, isn't it a shame, but I can't skip my Friday lessons. They are the very last courses of my exam professor. He leaves our uni to work at the Freiburg University (or better PH) and I have to talk to him about the exam in autumn and get his signature etc
Comments: I`m sorry, invited ME for dinner? ROFL
Comments: Keith, thank you for the Southbank résumé. Thanks everyone for the new pictures! Chris, I´m still thinking of going (I´m still waiting for someone to supply me with the Premiere-tickets... *grin*) to Berlin. I haven´t heard of someone here who is about to attend.
Comments: No, Chris. I won't be able to go, as it is a Thursday and I cannot take a day off from work I comfort myself thinking that we would only get a glimpse of AR anyway, a pained smile at the best. Don't tell me he has invited you for dinner...
Comments: One more thing that I`d like to add! I really DID misstyped TEH info, it was not intentionally.
Comments: Thank you for the teh info, Keith and everyone else for providing the pics. Yes, I too read about the HP script reading but I think we need to cool down a bit, I still believe we would have found out until now if anyone else has been offered the part. Not likely.
Is anyone here going to the Berlin Festival? Hikity, Chalebh, RickiNicki, Puddingdale, Mrs. Slope? Have I missed anyone?
What is your location? UK Comments:
FYI - As you all know and have discussed, AR was at the Savoy yesterday for the South Bank Awards. The 2 small photos of him by Ken McKay of Rex will most likely be the only ones that you will see/find.
He must have gone in to the hotel through either the main entrance or another entrance as the other celebrities mainly entered as planned thru the Riverside entrance where the Press pens were set up. He most certainly does not appear on any Agency site in the 'Arrivals' sets of images.
He also did not make an appearance in the Press Room afterwards - only Awards recipients and presenters were brought in to be photographed and interviewed by TV, Print Media etc.
Even the main UK Celeb snappers like Dave Bennet (Getty) and Richard Young (Rex - RY was not actually there but his initials are by pics taken by his assistant) did not get shots of Alan, despite being set up in the Savoy lobby just outside the Press Room and adjacent to the rather sumptuous Hotel toilets. How many toilets have sofas in - these ones had 2 !!).
So I'm guessing that he arrived with Megan (I assume that is her in the pics), posed with Melvin Bragg and his wife and then went into the the Dining room where the Lunch/Awards were held. Probably also departed via the same way he arrived to avoid the hoardes (about 10) fans who were waiting outside the expected entrance/exit area.
It might be when the show airs on TV, he will appear for a moment on screen. I cant tell because although they had a live feed to the Press room, we only had time to watch while we were waiting for Award recipients to enter, but obviously had no chance while we were shooting.
His last 2 London appearances have also been fleeting - if you recall a couple of images on Rex from the Theatregoers Choice nominations where I think (I was not there) he arrived late. And another RY pic from another.
Whether he turns up for the Whatsonstage Awards - despite winning 2 of them is debateable. There is no actual awards show. They are just being announced lunchtime online. In conjunction with the Critics Choice Awards, which I know little about.
So Berlinale might be the next AR sighting....
What is your location? Canada Comments: If Alan is suppose to be accepting two awards ( oh , and he will) for MNIRC and Best Director on the 31st then i say he is probably in London now. As for cast readings, does anyone know if they do all the cast together or scene by scene as then Alan if he did indeed agree to play Snape wouldnt be needed until his scenes would come up...dunno. I have a feeling that Snape is not going to get alote of screen time this film, there should be as there is alote of him in the book ( specially occulmency, at least we know there will be one major occulmency lesson with Snape as they have hired young Snape, Remus, James and Sirius actors to play out the Snapes Worst Memory scene0) I can honestly tell you that even if Alan does not do Snape any further, no matter who they replace him with will not do justice and i will never stop seeing the Snape that i know(specially when i read book 7). And i will definitly see out the rest of the movies as i am also a HP nut, just not a AR nut. Now, my gut feeling is Alan will continue as i cant see him abandoning a major British film phenom as HP. But will they ask him is the question, maybe they are going for a younger looking Snape around the same age as Remus and Sirius. ( 40ish). Lets hope. I dont think i have heard anything in the future for Alan except MNIRC- and he wasnt at all the shows in London when it was there so lets hope he signed on.

WhatsonStage have stopped showing the votes for thei awards for the last week or so to make it more exciting, so they say. Just have to hope that MNiRC is still in the lead.
Comments: Claudia,
This is a different awards show than the one we voted for. The one with AR for Director, Megan for solo actress and MNiRC is the WhatsonStage awards, which is being held on 1/31 I think.

Comments: MC is definitely one of my favourite AR movies, for sure. Being from Ireland, myself, I suppose I had special interest in it (besides Alan) when I first saw it. But Alan gives a very impressive take on de Valera; he had his mannerisms down to a tee. But hey, that's just Alan. One finds it rather hard to flaw any of his performances ... apart from the odd dodgy accent here and there.
What is your location? GA Comments: Gosh, when you put the two pictures together, Michelle, the resemblance is uncanny. MC is really a good film and AR shines in it. Yes, there was some genius casting going on in that film...it just seemed to run a little dry though when they cast Kitty Kiernan.
Comments: Hey, again.
Just wanted to draw your attention to a post I made over on LJ, discussing the insanely accurate physical resemblance between Alan and the 'character' he played in Michael Collins, Éamon de Valera.
What d'ya think? Some genius casting, eh?

What is your location? London Comments: delurking here, I've been reading this thread, and i want to ask: What pray tell is so un-usual about a Theatre asking for donations to put on a Play.. You obviously are trying to cast suspicsion on people who are only trying to get the Play seen..Perhaps it is as was stated Someone backed out of donating at the last minute, and they had to make up the funds.
You obviously do not know much about the workings of the theatre, or of fund raising to get a play produced.
And casting aspersions on the genuiness of the letter only hurts Alan Rickman...Someone you CLAIM to admire. I daresay He'd be appauled at the lingering doubts you all have about the backing of his play.

Good point, Juliet. I never doubted that the letter was genuinely from TRC. Its just the "un-usualness" of the donation thing that has all my synapses firing. LOL
Comments: £1k : what does it mean? what is the "k" for?
What is your location? UK Comments: My begging letter for MNiRC came yesterday, IMHO it's genuinely from the Royal Court (I saw the play in April so will be on a mailing list somewhere, I suppose!) I'm wondering if all the finance was in place and someone backed out unexpectedly at the last minute and they are having to replace the money in a hurry for the thing to go ahead, the appeal for sponsors may be one of several lines of enquiry. I'm sure AR could cover it, but I doubt he has £50k just lying around in used £20 notes in his sock drawer. If he's sensible, his money will be tied up in investments which may take some time to liquidate, in the meantime, all they need is 50 people to put up £1k each, and hey presto! No good looking at me then, but that kind of money is peanuts to some of the City theatre-going types, so it's worth a punt on the theatres behalf. Just MHO.
What is your location? GA Comments: Kathy, thanks for your thoughts on the play script for MNiRC. It truly does amaze me at the people that will criticize a play/book/movie without ever seeing/reading it. And this doesn't just happen with MNiRC. It goes on all the time. And example that comes to my mind first is Fahrenheit 9/11. When someone wanted to discuss it with me, my first question was "Have you seen it?" If they hadn't (and there were a few that hadn't), I just told them to see it and then come back for a discussion. I have no patience for stuff like that.
RickiNicki, I've added your cute little emotie. Thanks.
Severina, the letter from TRC definitley looks like a mass mailing to "friends" in their database so its possible yours might still arrive.

I am a Friend (complete with membership card and plenty of correspondence from them) and have upgraded my patronage. Having bought two tickets for the show in the past (as well as Friends memberships last year for two others including the recipient of the letter posted) I am surprised that they wouldnt have sent out all past supporters of the show who are at least Royal Court Friends that letter...

Ladies (and gentlemen if you are there) it is extraordinary. That is one exceptional young lady. It definitely is not political, but describes her experiences. More than half is about her life before Gaza. I hope that those who criticize it read the play or see it first, it is really a gem. The writing is wonderful and the editing really captures the essence of an extraordinary young woman. I got it at the uni from inter-library loan--it is a quick read and well worth it.

RickiNicki, I've never heard of a film opening on and Sunday here but since December 31 is New Years Eve, that might make the exception.
Comments: Now you come to think of it, the donation request is a bit odd. It's also strange that there is nothing on the Royal Court Theatre site about it, either. The other query I have is, if donations are made, who gets any profits from a good run (which it surely would have) being that the general public have made donations. It is known that AR made a £50,000 donation to RADA. If he is as passionate about this as implied, surely he would put up the required funds? (Of course, he may have already). Sending out letters here and there is not going to get them £50,000 either. I can't decide whether this is the Royal Court being very naive, or a big mistake. I'm afraid this is one thing I am not interested in donating to, even though I would love you guys in the US to see it.

Cynics said it was only chosen because its stars Kristin Scott Thomas and Joseph Fiennes promised to come to Berlin. So . . . it seems that Kosslick has learned his lesson by setting "Snow Cake" as the opening film! Ohhhh, I hope the film lives up to everyone's expectations! I'm sure it will but being the opening film seems to carry a lot of pressure, doesn't it?

What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Alma,
The letter indicated the New York Theater Workshop, which is a small 188 seat theater - and I assume - off Broadway. See my earlier post of my email response from the NYTW, who said there were 'in discussions' with the Royal Court but not quite able to confirm anything yet.
What is your location? What is your location? nyc Comments: I'm just chiming in to agree with Thea. I also read the article in the Times about the shortage of space on Broadway. MNIRC couldn't get a theater if it wanted to.Several off-Broadway plays that have been very successful and could be up for awards cannot move to Broadway and are thus not eligible for Tonys. It's very strange that they set such a specific date without mentioning which theater they're going to. Of course, the play might not go on Broadway but then it wouldn't be eligible for Tonys. And then there's the issue of the amount of money they're asking for. 50,000k is chickenfeed in terms of renting space in New York. But then again, if they're asking for checks they would have to be made out to the Royal Court Theater so if they are scammers they wouldn't be able to cash them . And in terms of negative publicity and politics- pfft. New Yorkers can handle it. The only New Yorkers who picket are in the unions, heh. Oh, and we do the occasional anti-war/Bush protest. Or the uh constant crazy socialists in Union Square but they're there for our amusement, really. The only problem might be a lack of interest and or protest from people outside New York who make up a significant part of Broadway profits. But I really do believe the play could be incredibly successful if it finds a way to get here. So yeah, until there's a response from the Theater, I wouldn't donate. And lets knock on wood for MNIRC. ![]()
What is your location? London Comments: I've got tiny little news about Perfume, on Cinemablend it is mentioned that the movie will be released by Dreamworks on 2006/12/31. As it says Dreamworks it might be the date for the US release. Not hundert percent sure though.
Comments: Emily brought up some very important points about the donation request. This would be an invitation to huge scandel. Yes, AR is open about the causes he supports and he doesn't seem shy about voicing his opinion on issues that could raise "conservative" eyebrows (politics, war, etc). But, IMHO, I don't think AR would so innocent as to make a general request for funds.
IF this fund drive is legitimate, surely someone else came up with the idea?
Comments: Did something wrong there, that my picture didn't show up. Well, the link works, anyway. I'll try again:

What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: The South Bank Theater Awards are scheduled for Jan 27 at the Savoy Hotel in London. MNiRC is nominated for the theater category.
The WhatsonStage Theatergoers Choice Awards will be held on January 31 (not sure where this is being held). AR is nominated, as well as Megan Dodds and MNiRC.
I know everyone knows that (although I don't remember much discussion about the South Bank awards), but I just thought I'd point it out that, with these and the film festival, and then Olivier awards on 2/26, it could be a month or so filled with great AR pics & other info! Yay!
I am annoyed that I am going to be on a cruise through 2/11, meaning I will miss the live activites related to the Snow Cake premiere. However, it does seem that the Berlinale site has a wonderful archive of everything, so hopefully I can catch up.
What is your location? NW PA USA Comments: I just got my daily GoF calendar so I made a new un-fuzzy scan of the picture with Snape & Karkarov - the only one I've seen is pretty fuzzy.
http://photobucket.com/albums/b112/ARDLHGB2/?action=view¤t=CalendarLo3.jpg
I made a 600 dpi scan but it's 3.33 mb. The above is 300 dpi and was 786 kb so was resized by Photobucket.
If anyone would like a 600 dpi scan of any or all of the 5 photos of Snape in the calendar (not all new, of course) and you can't get them yourself, let me know and I'll be happy to email them.
It sounds very odd to me that an email asking for donations for a stage production would be legitimate. Also, I agree that this is VERY LATE to be collecting donations for a production in March. Surely you can't get your play into a theater anywhere in just a couple of weeks! Time will tell. . . .
What is your location? London Comments: At first glance at the letter I didn't see the donation thing at all. But now it also sounds suspicious to me. I agree, that you can't have a fixed date when there are still negiotiations about the financing. So let's just wait and see what happens next. I don't doubt the authenticity of this letter, but for me it doesn't makes sense.
What is your location? GA Comments: Just for the record, the discussion is not about whether it is believed the letter was received. The discussion revolves around what the letters says...which simply has nothing to do with the receipient of the letter.
Here's the letter in question in full, ladies and gents.
Thanks for the word from New York Theater Workshop, CatsPlay.

We are having some discussions with the Royal Court Theatre in London, but nothing we can talk about yet. We’ll know soon. Jim Nicola Artistic Director
What is your location? GA Comments: I'm sorry if you find the discussion so negative, Becky. We are having an adult discussion about an issue at hand. Believe me, if I wanted to email The Royal Court, I would have done so early this morning after word got out.

What is your location? texas Comments: hey folks, if you ll are so worried about this MNIRC donation thing, WHY NOT GO TO THE ROYAL COURT website, and CONTACT THEM.... ONE SIMPLE email would clear up this debate... Egads DON'T trash the information, until you know what your talking about... I for one would love to see the play....But Negative posts could most likely BACKFIRE on you, and then WE'D NEVER get to see it!!! IMHO
What is your location? the computer at the moment Comments: Hi Emily, I Love PBS and watch a lot of fantastic programs there including a lot of the classic English series which are shown on their stations such as Faulty Towers and Father Ted. I just ignore the politics and enjoy the shows I love. Did you see the special with the Celtic Woman?? What an awesome bunch of women that came together and so talented..
What is your location? GA Comments: You bring up some very interesting points, Em! If this is for real, it would certainly be a simmering pot apt to boil over at any time.
Thea, I think I have my hopes pinned on AR doing negotiations there. Maybe there will be something soon.
Comments: Quote: "What watch, darling? Ten watch! What, such much!"
Hikity put me out of my misery and remind me what film that quote comes from? I can hear it being said but am having a senior moment!!
Comments: Right, Claudia, I am very sceptical, too. RickiNicki, it was a bit of a "joke" - I referred to the latest pilgers in Saudi - so many people killed (as every year)...
What is your location? NYC area Comments: Hi all,
Coming out of long-time lurking to "second" the MNiRC skepticism. I've been keeping a close lookout at websites and the newspapers and haven't heard so much as a whisper about the show. (of course, I have no inside info.) I notice the donation appeal says a "spring production." A March opening seems unlikely at this late date. The NY Times Arts section published a story just yesterday about how a sucessful theater season had made it rough for off-Broadway show to move to Broadway and how space was just all-around tight. Off course, AR has been seen here, which could mean he is in negotiations. Hope so! As to an appeal for donations: sounds strange. Guess we'll have to wait-and-see!
My best.
Comments: Thanks Claudia. See, this shows how naive AR is about American politics. You know what a political football PBS has been, right? Because it solicits donations from the public and private sector, some faction or other is always screaming about PBS programming being biased towards one view or another. What if a pro-Palestinian organization puts up a significant donation to bring Rachel Corrie over? Can you imagine the outcry from pro-Israel groups (especially in NY!!!) ? Or what if a group like the ACLU or something puts up some money? Then the conservative politicians will go squawking about the ACLU or whatever sponsoring a "terrorist sympathiser" play. Asking for donations automatically gives detractors a much bigger target to shoot at. And, I know that AR has said it's not a "political" play, but the donation scheme raises the probability that it will be perceived as a political play and made into a political issue, based on who donates money. This is really, really not a wise move.
What is your location? GA Comments: You may be very well right, Emily. What really struck me strange was the statement that the play is coming in March but yet on the other hand, they're asking for financial support. If the financial end hasn't been worked out, how can they say it will come to NY in March?
I found this over at Suzanne's. Sheena posted the official form for donations.
Yet another question...why in the world would the British public care if MNiRC came to the US or not? And to the tune of £50,000????
Now don't get me wrong.....if this thing is on the up and up, I'll be one of the first to donate and proclaim it high and low. But until some official word comes down, call me "Skeptical Sally".
Comments: The "donation" appeal for MNIRC sounds really odd. What it might mean is that no NY producer was interested in bringing the play over. No big surprise, given the political realities and the economic realities.
For all we know, AR has put up some money and the $100,000 the Royal Court mentioned is the rest of the sum needed to rent a theater in NY and pay costs. At any rate, there is no official news of this on Playbill, or any of the other NY theater sites or even on the Royal Court site itself -- strange, because March is not far away.

And now, corrections, corrections, corrections (and I am not talking about the famous Oprah averse best-seller). I gave some incorrect information about The Grass Widow that I need to amend. Must maintain my reputation, you know. AR's character (Dennis) is not romantically involved with Tracey Ullman's character (Carmen). Tracey Ullman played the girlfriend of yet another gangster (Andre). Dennis is involved with a character named Lorraine, who is indeed the wife/widow of the missing/dead drug lord and he is maintaining their estate for them. One of the more interesting changes he has made is to stock the hot tub with pirhannas.
I had forgotten until I reread it what a funny play The Grass Widow is! No need to spend big bucks to get it, either. Public and academic libraries have it for loan, plus you can buy it as part of a compilation of Snoo Wilson's work called Plays 2.

Comments: Rickinicki- I agree about the hair- I love it! Maybe its just because I used to have a crush on a guy with blond hair cut like that. My friend said he looked like a mushroom. I, like most people here probably, think AR gets cuter as he gets older but I do love those pics from the Grass Widow. In some of the other pics of him when he was young he looked a bit awkward but he looks really good in that play. So that's the play that he appeared nude in? He had a nice body back then ![]() *HP spoilers* I also doubt that Dumbledore is still alive. In most novels, the mentor figure has to die so that the young hero can become independent. I was always intrigued by Snape because he was such a slimy guy. I doubt that he's entirely evil, though. He reminds me alot of Gollum. I wonder if he will follow in Gollum's footsteps in the end and unwittingly aid Harry.

Comments: Bluebeatbabe, I caught the last 20 mins of the South Bank Show. I am quite surprised the IM allowed himself to be followed about like that, and I agree, I could not envisage AR doing something remotely similar! I kinda felt that IM did not do himself any favours though. He came over as a really nice guy, yes, but a bit of a "queen" with a strange taste in men! (And I'm not implying anything as I have some very good gay friends) Must see TV though!
What is your location? Tampa, FL Comments: Alfan, I kinda liked Snape from the start. Then again, I saw the first 2 movies and read the books after. The movie version of Snape is a jerk, but I loved to hate him, so I went into the books w/ Alan as Snape. He was a favorite of mine right off. I actually expect Snape to die in book 7. I don't buy the DD is still alive theories. I do think that Snape killed him on orders to do so though... I should probably talk more about this in the other guest book...
Ali-Pat, there is nothing more wonderful then the mental image of young Alan Rickman sunbathing in the nude. I thank you for that glorious thought.

What is your location? shivering over my Cheerios What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://home.earthlink.net/~sa.pe/APLhome.html Comments: Dee, my foggy recollections of The Grass Widow are that AR plays the caretaker or poolboy of some gangster's estate (the "grass" in the title is a double entendre) and gets involved with his wife or ex-wife or widow (played by Tracy Ullman). I also clearly remember that AR's character opens the play by sunbathing in the nude. Want to read it now?
Comments: A really frosty "good morning" from the Siberian outpost Frankfurt. It's around -12°C.
It seems there is a good chance that Alan Rickmann will be at the opening of the Berlinale. Judging from a Berlin newspaper article he, Sigorney Weaver and Marc Evans will be there as a kind of duty.
But sadly I won't be able to go to Berlin. It couldn't have been a more inapt date than that. But there is still the TV coverage.
Still freezing

Sorry you are having trouble with Megaupload. I had quite an ordeal trying to get it uploaded (it took 2 hours). You might want to let it run all night while you sleep or something. Also, the 'medium' sized version is available via YouSendit, that might work better and the quality is still very good.
Or, you can just watch online via the YouTube link, which seems to work pretty well and the quality is good, albiet just a smaller screen, there. Note, if YouTube is 'choppy' - starting and stopping, if you just let it play through to the end and go get a cup of coffee or something else, and then come back -- when it has played through once you can replay it and it should play straight through.
Hope that helps!
What is your location? Canada Comments: I totally agree with the Alan is sooooooo good at playing the bad guy part, kinda what he is famous for. I have said many times to my friends Alan Rickman and alote of them say who? And i say, come on, the guy who plays Snape, Medatron, Alexander Dane, the guy who cheats on his wife in Love Actually ( more recent movies) and they still stare blankly at me. So i say, you know, Hans Gruber from Die Hard, Sherrif of Nottingham. and they suddenly say oooooooooooohhhhhh, that guy- he was funny and bad as the sherrif or he was hot in Die Hard...... I also agree with the fact that JKR could be leading us down a path that is somwhat obscured from the truth. I mean she has thrown us a loop every book so far. Book one-we dont like him in the beginning but like him in the end Book two-dont like him because he is so mean to Harry Book three-kinda feel sorry for him, didnt get what he deserved Book four-kinda dont like him because he is up to somthing Book five-feel sorry for him because of his childhood and upbringing Book six- hate the bugger but still feel like there is hope
JKR will keep us guessing to the end with different emotions for Snape in each book, and weather she makes him to be evil or makes him a redeemed hero of some sort she has always made us guess ( and hope ) and will continue to do so. To me that is a bit of talanted and absolutly brilliant writing.
(But i can see a Misery thing happening if she decides to kill him off, bring out the sledgehammers and re-write the ending JKR) hee hee.

I'm downloading CatsPlay's video through Megaupload and, although I recently got DSL service, it's still downloading at 4 kb/sec. Is this just because Megaupload's server is slow, or is there something I missed that I need to do? It says 5 hours to download!!! Aaaack*

What is your location? Germany Comments: To be sure: ****SPOILER ALERT AGAIN**** Thanks for the information Carol! However, I don't really believe this. I think Rowling is trying to lead everyone on the wrong path. I also heard she said that Harry would die in Book 7 to make sure that there will be no sequels, but I can't really believe that, especially when thinking about the prophecy in OotP. Anyway... I don't think AR's decision about playing Snape in OotP and the other films depends on how his character will turn out to be in Book 7. He has played so many bad bad guys and he's sooooo good in it.
What is your location? Michigan Comments: Spoiler alert...
...and slightly off-topic.
I'm coming out of lurkdom to mention an article that appeared in today's Washington Post (reprinted on delawareonline.com.)
In the article, JK Rowling is quoted as saying that readers that believe that Dumbledore and Snape have a pact "cling to some desperate hope." If she's been quoted accurately, I think it could be a big hint as to good-vs-evil Snape, and the future events in HP book seven. . .
You can read the Delaware Online version by clicking:
http://www.delawareonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060123/LIFE/601230306/1005
I've believed for some time that AR has known the basic direction in which the Snape character would go, because of the reports we've all heard about how JKR personally convinced him to play Snape and told him the general direction of the story and character. So something tells me that none of this would come as a surprise to him, although it's only a guess and I could be 100% wrong. But at this point, I honestly don't think that the notion of Snape being "evil" would deter AR from continuing in the role. . .and I admit this may fully be wishful thinking on my part.
I hope that soon we will hear that he has indeed signed for the next movie (to date, I've heard no such thing and forgive me if the news has already been announced elsewhere.) And I hope even more that the delay in any news of his signing is due to cunning negotiation on the part of Alan's agents---to me, Snape is by far one of the most important characters in the HP universe and Alan deserves to be exceptionally well compensated for his superb interpretation of Snape.
What is your location? GA Comments: Nice video, CatsPlay!
Lucy, I really like your manips. Especially the one of PL and Stella.
INTJ...its huge!!! I know its not crisp but considering how large it is, its very good quality.
As for That Book. I do agree that its written badly but I just have a hard time believing that its so full of lies. Basically its nothing but stuff from his career which is public record. I really think Maureen Paton gets a really bad rap from AR fans but that's just me, I suppose.
What is your location? CT Comments: I have to confess that although I'd never pay money to buy That Book, I took it out of the library and am currently working my way through it. It really is a tough go because of the abysmal writing but I do have to admit that I find it interesting. It's pretty easy to tell when Paton passes off her opinion as fact, and I do take even the "facts" presented with a HUGE grain of salt because AR himself has said that the book is full of lies. But I can't help it. I'd probably read anything with the man's name in it. ![]()
What is your location? Cow Land, MD Comments: I feel the same way, INTJ, re: That Book. It took me about three months to slog my way through it when I borrowed it from a pal, and that was back when I was a relatively new AR fan and so a bit desperate for info about him. I completely understand people wanting to check out all things AR (I did and still do!) and would never tell anyone not to do so. Yet I think you get the most accurate and detailed picture of AR The Man--well, as accurate and detailed as he's comfortable showing, at least--from reading the different interview archives and fan encounters, and just watching the man at work.
IMO, Paton should try her hand at fiction writing, since she seems to enjoy making things up.
Comments:
Claudia, however did you guess I don't care for that horrible book at all...
Seriously, I loathe that book. It is filled with nothing but baseless assumptions, things Paton made up, took out of context and twisted to suit those assumptions. She presents her opinions as facts, twists what info she has while leaving out those facts that would contradict her and using only those bits that support those weird assumptions of hers. *retches some more* I absolutely detest that book.

Did anyone see The South Bank Show last night a year in the life of Ian Mc Kellan...very interesting... he emptied a goodie bag from the Golden Globes/or the Oscars and asked the question.. what shall I do with all this...I don't need it! Interesting discussion about his role as Twankey and the influence of Northern comics Les Dawson and Norman Evans cast in the role of strong northern women. He has quite a sense of humour our Ian, very tongue in cheek and sometimes risque. It even showed his apartment in Docklands and gave an insight into his life. I can't imagine Alan ever agreeing to do something like this...fascinating, but it would be far too intrusive for Alan to even contemplate.... although I would love him to do the Actor's Studio. ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the info on John Noakes, Elaine. He sounds a bit like a blast from our past called Captain Kangaroo. But he's been off the air for many years now.
Dee, the siting in New York was on the 18th and Sundance started on the 19th and goes through the 29th. Nothing saying he didn't hop a plane and head over to Utah but its my belief that he probably isn't over here for the festival. I really think it has to do with MNiRC. I have nothing concrete so its just my speculation. Also, anyone that's interested in Sundance, can pop over to Sundance Film Festival 2006 for news and video from the festival. I've also been scouring over the festival pics at each of the image services and have found none of interest so far.

BTW, re: birthday, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if AR chose to be away for the big day, working or not, as I get the feeling from stuff I've read over the years, that he's a bit sensitive about his age and wouldn't want to be anywhere where there will be a fuss, looking back, stocktaking or any of the other stuff that often happens when a body turns 60. If he's any sense he'll go somewhere for a nice quiet romantic getaway with Rima, and if she can't make it, I'm free! LOL! Comments: Overview previous | next Jan 18, 2006: The Berlinale Competition Programme Is Nearing Completion: Debut Films and Master Directors The selection for the Competition programme of the 56th Berlin International Film Festival is nearing completion: 23 of the 26 films have been confirmed. Aside from the nine films already announced (see press release from 20 Dec. 2005) another 14 entries have been invited, including 11 world premieres. The Berlinale will open on February 9 with Marc Evans’ drama Snow Cake, starring Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver in the leading roles. Alongside Oskar Roehler’s Elementarteilchen (The Elementary Particles) and Hans-Christian Schmid’s Requiem, the Competition will present two more world premieres of German films: in Der freie Wille (The Free Will), director Matthias Glasner (Die Mediocren) follows a man who has been released from prison after serving twelve years for multiple rape. Jürgen Vogel plays this man who is so driven by inner forces; Sabine Timoteo, a young woman who wants to free him from his restraints. Valeska Grisebach (Be My Star) recounts the story of a love triangle set in the German eastern provinces in Sehnsucht. The film, with its cast of amateurs, reflects on dreams and departures, as well as on the search for happiness and related sufferings and hopes. The Berlinale Competition is screening the world premiere of A Prairie Home Companion (USA), an ensemble comedy by master director Robert Altman. The story is about a legendary radio show which is taken off the air after thirty years. Altman, the winner of several Berlinale prizes, has assembled an unparalleled cast of stars, including Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin, Woody Harrelson, Kevin Kline and John C. Reilly. Screening out of competition, Bennett Miller’s biopic Capote portrays the extravagant and dazzling writer Truman Capote, and the origins of his non-fiction novel "In Cold Blood". The title role of this writer so torn by inner conflicts is played by Philip Seymour Hoffman (Golden Globe 2006). Also running out of competition will be the world premiere of V for Vendetta (USA/Germany) by James McTeigue, a screen adaptation of the graphic novel. Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving star in the film which was made at the film studios in Babelsberg. V for Vendetta is set in a futuristic landscape in Britain that is governed by a fascist regime, and depicts the loss of freedom and personal identity in a totalitarian world. The screenplay was written by the Wachowsky brothers (Matrix). Claude Chabrol’s world premiere L'ivresse du pouvoir (Comedy of Power) is a French-German co-production. In this political thriller Isabelle Huppert plays an uncompromising examining magistrate who is investigating against the managing director of a large group of companies. As things progress, she is confronted with the full extent of her own power. Director Michel Gondry has two films at the Berlinale: in addition to his documentary Dave Chappelle's Block Party in the Panorama, the Oscar-winner (for Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind) is presenting The Science of Sleep. The French production is screening out of competition. A young man withdraws completely into his dreams, neglecting real life until he begins to confuse his dream world with reality. The leads are performed by Gaël Garcia Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg, two of the most distinguished actors of their generation. With Romanzo Criminale (Crime Novel), Italian director and actor Michele Placido (The Octopus) has staged a gangster drama about corruption against a historical backdrop. The film is based on a novel by judge Giancarlo De Cataldo and focuses on a dark chapter in Italian history involving the Mafia, terrorism, corruption and politics. In the film a group of gangsters aspires to dominate all of Rome with their criminal organization. The protagonists are played by Kim Rossi Stuart, Anna Mouglalis and Stefano Accorsi, among others. Following In this World, for which Michael Winterbottom received the Golden Bear in 2003, the British director has once again taken up an explosive political issue in The Road to Guantanamo. The film traces three Muslims from Great Britain who were held without being charged at Guantanamo Bay prison camp for two years. Winterbottom’s world premiere combines elements of fiction, authentic reports and interviews. The world premiere En Soap is a Danish-Swedish co-production. In her directorial debut, Pernille Fischer Christensen portrays the tragicomic relationship between the owner of a beauty clinic and a transsexual. Trine Dyrholm and David Dencik play the leads. After such highly regarded documentaries as Megacities or Workingman's Death, Austrian director Michael Glawogger will present Slumming, his second feature film, as a world premiere. The Austrian-Swiss co-production is a black comedy about two yuppies who play nasty tricks on others. One of these practical jokes turns out to have fatal consequences for everyone involved. The movie features August Diehl as one of the yuppies and Paulus Manker as the city tramp. The Argentine-French-German co-production El Custodio is a psychological study about the body guard of a top politician who so dedicated that he is in danger of losing his own identity. Rodrigo Moreno was a member of the directing trio of El Descanso (Sweet Repose), which received several festival awards. El Custodio is the first film he has directed on his own and is screening in the Competition as a world premiere. It was realized with the support of the World Cinema Fund. The film stars Julio Chávez, Osvaldo Djeredjian and Adrián Andrada. Zemestan (It’s Winter), a world premiere by Persian director Rafi Pitts, has been invited from Iran. The film is a neo-realistic study on living and working conditions in the outskirts of Teheran. Ali Nicksaulat, Mitra Hadjar, Hashem Abdi and Said Orkani play the leading roles. In Isabella (Hong Kong, China) by Pang Ho-cheung, a police officer in Macao is suddenly confronted with the fact that he is a young girl’s father. Whereas he would like to continue his life as a bachelor, his daughter insists on moving into his apartment. This world premiere features Chapman To and Isabella Leong. Pang Ho-cheung’s comedy Men Suddenly in Black won him the best new director award at the Hong Kong Film Festival. The following, previously announced Competition films will also be screening: - Candy by Neil Armfield, Australia (World Premiere) - Elementarteilchen (The Elementary Particles) by Oskar Roehler, Germany (World Premiere) - Grbavica by Jasmila Zbanic, Austria/Bosnia-Herzegovina/Germany/Croatia (World Premiere) - Invisible Waves by Pen-ek Ratanaruang, Netherlands/Thailand/Republic of Korea (World Premiere) - The New World by Terrence Malick, USA (Out of Competition) - Requiem by Hans-Christian Schmid, Germany (World Premiere) - Snow Cake by Marc Evans, Great Britain/Canada (World Premiere) - Syriana by Steve Gaghan, USA (Out of Competition) - Wuji / The Promise by Chen Kaige, Hong Kong, China/USA (Out of Competition) Press Office January 18, 2006

Comments: John Noakes was a presenter on "Blue Peter" which must be the longest running kid's programme ever! Still going today, and the model for all kid's "current affairs" programmes. We all watched it when we were younger and the object of every kid from my era was to get a Blue Peter badge! (I never made it). Noakes used to do all sort of "dangerous" things and had a dog called Shep. It's a very Brit thing, I'm afraid and difficult to explain to someone who has never seen it but it has evolved and given we brits a lot of "famous" quotes, eg "Here's one I made earlier", "Sticky back plastic" and "Get down Shep"!!!
What is your location? GA Comments: Oh and who is John Noakes?
What is your location? GA Comments:
Hi Katie and welcome to our group! I hope you will stay with us. Thanks so much for the AR news! Great find!
Elaine, the new wallpaper is adorable! Its amazing how you just completely erased Carrie-Anne Moss and wine glass! LOL
Comments: I love that dog!! (And John Noakes IS old!!LOL)
Comments: And, GREAT poster, Sue!
Comments: Even more silliness.
And yes, RickiNicki, it's an old one. Just keeping in the theme! Red Tango, I love your AR cartoons. The best I've seen.
Sue, You are dating us! Hae you seen how old John Noakes looks now?

What is your location? London Comments: Nice one, Elaine! Have you posted it before? It looks so familiar to me... ![]() RedTango, I love your icon and drawing? Did you do that on the computer or with your hands? Your gifted, girl!
What is your location? London Comments: greeat find, thanks Katie! So, if he's, maybe still, in NY, this could mean he might do rehearsals for MNiRC, perhaps? So maybe the play would be on in February? Just guessing..... but wouldn't it be brilliant??? ![]()
Comments: Sue, how come it never crossed my mind to visit your LJ?! Man, I`m dumb! Just call me cave-(wo)man! How brilliant! Congratulations!!! BTW, The Gissing Icons are splendid! Elaine - that is an awsome icon. Nice find, Katie!!!
Comments: Just spotted this on gawker.com:
"I saw Alan Rickman in the John Barrett salon above Bergdorf’s on January 18th. He was tall, distinguished, with that intense, slightly squinty gaze of his and head full of gray hair (although still surprising not to see him in black-haired Snape mode). I think he was waiting for someone rather than getting his hair done himself…he looked rather bored in the salon, and no one seemed to bother him."
So apparently Mr. Rickman is (still?) in NY...
What is your location? GA Comments: Elaine! That's not silly! Its cute! Who let the dog out????
Oh man, Sue! Wouldn't it be funny if Evans did use it! Its good enough to use as the film poster.
OOps...I had two posts going at once and posted the second first. Yall...don't ask...its getting late and my head is definitely NOT in this office! LOL
What is your location? GA Comments: Chris, check out Itsa Fantasteek LJ for Sue's competing icons. Plus you'll find a real nice array of AR+ artwork.

I suppose it should have a tagline, any ideas?
What is your location? GA Comments: Thank you Sue. Yes, she is a genious all right. We have a lot of great artists in this group as well as throughout AR fandom. I wish she would put her siggie on her drawings like that though.

It`s quite cheap.
What is your location? GA Comments: LOL If that dog is anything like mine, he/she was watching for him to pick up that blue furry leash again! Walk my Tucker and your his friend for life! LOL
Seriously though....since AR IS the one directly in front of the food, I'm sure the dog is probably wondering if it will get its fair share.
What is your location? Canada Comments: You know, i was looking at those Snow Cake pictures again and i absolutly love the way the dog ( Mariliyn ) is looking at Alan, i suppose i cant blame her, if i were that close to Alan too i would be staring---probably panting and drooling also.
What is your location? GA Comments: Thank you, Becky! Phew! At least they haven't been removed completely from the site.
Maybe some one did an update to that page and inadvertantly deleted the Snow Cake entry. I know its far fetched but hey....take it from me...its easy to do.
Comments: Yes, but no longer listed on the page with all the listings of stills, FYI.
What is your location? TEXAS Comments: Go to the site that had the SNOWCAKE pictures, and put SNOWCAKE in the SEARCH box, they will come up in another popup window...I just did and they were there!!

That's an interesting development, CatsPlay. I wonder what's up with that.
Good catch, Sarah. I completely missed that in the letter. I know yall are tired of reading this from me...but maybe his absence has something to do with MNiRC. Oh well, if its work related, I'm sure we will hear or read about it at some point in time.
I'm getting so excited about Berlinale! Will any of our friends here be able to make it to Berlin during this time? I hope there will lots of TV coverage about Snow Cake!
Ali-Pat, I would love to have a BC discussion! I haven't read the books (lazy me) but I would love for you to post the curious details you're finding.
I've had a lot of people asking me about the RADA donation for AR's birthday. I heard from the fabulous hard working Catherine this morning about when we might expect to see a link so we can throw our money into this wonderful organization known as RADA. This is what she had to say.
Catherine wrote: Quote: Hiya Claudia Good to hear from you. I contacted RADA first thing this month, but it's taken them a while to get to this, which is a shame, but understandable due to them needing to get their term up and running. I understand that this week they are hoping to finalise the setup of the Justgiving webpage, so I have just e-mailed them again to see if we can get the ball rolling early next week. I really do hope we can top last year's total, so fingers crossed. Will be in touch again next week, have a great weekend. Very best wishes Catherine

Anybody feel like talking about The Barchester Chronicles? I am reading the books it is based on and am finding out many curious details...
Comments: Some infos about the Berlinale. The time which I use is CET, which is GMT + 1 and the date is the German date.
1. The opening ceremony will be on 09.02.06 around 19.00.
2. The award ceremony will be on the evening of the 18.02.06 also starting around 19.00. The announcement of the winners of the Goldenen and Silbernen Bären will take place about noon the same day (or maybe one day earlier).
LG Chalebh
Comments: You're right Sarah. The Berlinale runs the 19th Feb. and I believe I read the awards are given the last day. He may be in Germany.

The letter says "Rest assured they will forward it derectly to Mr. Rickman on his return to the UK." It has intrigued me as to what he's doing. The letter doesnt actually say he's filmin anything in February. Just to cleare that up

This crush is so hard to explain when you're in college, everyone says "no, Brad Pitt is a hot actor! But the Snape guy from Harry Potter?" No, no, no, that's not the best example! See Sense & Sensibility! Robin Hood! The voice!!!! Brad just doesn't have the intensity or whatever quality it is that that has addicted all of us.
Comments: Sweetie, I am sure HE will attend the opening of Snowcake! Afterward, he might not stay in Berlin but if Snowcake wins a price he will be back... Jan, I had a really blond moment, sorry, but ACTUALLY, I am blond
What is your location? GA Comments: The new HP film is what I immediately assumed but I don't have any concrete evidence of it. I just remember during the London GoF premiere that several of the stars said they had just been informed that shooting for the next film would start in Feb.
GG, I haven't forgotten you. I'm still working on it.
Comments: Thanks Nahima, mmmm I wonder which movie he is about to shoot in February. Does anyone has any info about whether AR will be attending the Premiere from Snow Cake on the Berlinale? Claudia do you think it´s possible to mail MP and ask her?
What is your location? PA USA Comments:
Claudia (& Emily): I LOVE those answers Alan gave in that interview! I'm with CatsPlay - what a shame it's not on video! I also loved Hugh Grant's reference to the 'love between Blair and Bush.'
As to Alan filming in February not in London - HP isn't filmed IN London, is it? There is that audio interview of people at the hotel the adults stayed in while filming, so I got the impression it's located somewhere else in the UK?? Also, there's an article on Mugglenet (I think) about how it's going to cost the production company 2 mil pounds to hold offices, etc. open while Dan Radcliffe & Emma Watson take their exams in June - so they must plan on filming through that time - who knows what month(s) Alan will actually be doing his bits in the OotP? Just a thought. . . .

Comments: Me again... To clarify my prior explanation related with the link. The girls won't be able to meet AR but they will bring the book to the office that works for him. ![]()
Comments: Oh Peekabooh, I'm sorry it didn't work for you. Okey, it is the link to AR message board in IMDB, it's from a specific thread of one of the girls who were preparing a book for AR's birthday, as a birthday gift for him. Apparently, Melanie Parker informed them that AR wouldn't be in London at the time but making a movie somewhere else, so the delivery in person of the gift won't be possible. It's what I understood. Claudia, what a coincidence! Yesterday I saw Blow Dry again and, like you, it was there that I knew about Bill Nighy for first time. Later, in Love Actually, he is excellent.
What is your location? GA Comments: Awww, I'm sure Nicki and Anca are disappointed but it looks like they understand why it has to be. At least MP is making arrangements for them to be able to deliver their gift personally rather than mail it.
Ohhh yes, Blow Dry! When I was ranting the other day about why AR doesn't do more British films, I had forgotten about this little gem. Not only does AR do a fantastic job with his character, Phil, but this is also the first film where I noticed the hilarious Bill Nighy!
Comments: For those in Canada who are interested .... Bravo will air Blow Dry on Sunday February 5th.
What is your location? London Comments: Oh no! How come that I missed this discussion back in May??? I can't be that blind! Probably I am! lol. ![]() Brilliant! I love that! ![]()
Comments: Nahima, unfortunately I´m not able to see the page you linked to. Could you please tell me what it is about? Thanks
Comments: Hi everyone! Found this, apparently AR won't be able to celebrate his 60th birthday in London. (?) "She told the people from ICM (the office that works for many celebreties in the UK, also for Alan) we bring the book next Feb. and they will make sure Alan will receive the book as soon as he is back in London. " He works a lot... ![]()

Our hard searching friend Emily posted it along with a translated version of the interview back in May. We had quite a conversation about AR's response to one of the questions.
I thought our non-French speaking friends might like to see the translated version again.
Quote:
Comments: This is for Claudia. I found this recently and I hope it will cheer her up. It's a transcript from a French site of a Love Actually press conference in Paris. Here's the picture from it - never saw this one before.
And this is the translation courtesy of Deb, Montreal. AR only answers a couple of questions, but his second answer is a winner. :

I know this is only kinda sort on topic but since I bash eBay so many times, I thought I would post a story that, IMO, puts them in a good light. What is your location? Rickmania Comments: You can find out all about the Oliviers at this site: http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/news/display/cm/contentId/87574
Last year they had a reporter/commentator at the awards sending live text feedback to the site from his laptop as the evening progressed. It was quite fun as he updated everyone on who was there and gave backgrounds on some of the nominees. Also listed winners as they were announced. He took emails from the web audience answering questions and excerpting comments from email viewers into his reports. Lots of nice pics on the site the next day, too. Hopefully, they will do it again this year. Here's wishing Mr. Rickman the very best of luck and the heartiest congratulations on the play's nomination!
Comments: As for the 30th annual Oliviers there is no AR or MNiRC in sight, what a pity. http://www.whatsonstage.com/dl/page.php?page=greenroom&story=E8821137510133

What is your location? Pittsburgh Comments: The Olivier Awards are indeed a big deal. They are the most prestigious theatre awards in the UK, so yes, they are the equivalent of the Tony's in America. I did a lot of research on them for my novel (shameless plug) so I've learned quite a bit about them in the past few months. Their official website is at http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/awards where you can look at past winners and nominees. To my knowledge, dear Alan has never won one
Comments: Wohoo! Thanks ladies for the new Snow Cake piccies!!
Dee~ The tag really suit the picture!
Comments: More Berlin Film Festival news on the BBC News Page too.
Comments: CatsPlay, thanks for the Oliviers news. These are the most prestigious awards for theatre in the UK so yes I suppose they equate to Tonys. The award show (or at least most of the highlights) is usually shown on the BBC the day after the event or so.
What is your location? GA Comments: That's an interesting question, CatsPlay. I've just always assumed that an Laurence Olivier Award was a very weighty honor but have never had it confirmed from any where. Does anyone have any information about these awards?
Fabulous news about Snow Cake opening Berlinale! Of course all AR fans new this film would be wonderful after details began to be known but maybe the honor of opening the festival will show the world what a special film it is.

What is your location? UK Comments: Leanne - thanx its not just me then lol I thought that would be the case. I was just wondering if someone had managed to get their hands on a copy of that scene. Oh well, March 7th, we await you!
What is your location? UK Comments: Sorry to confuse you, Hikity, but I posted in a hurry last night!
Comments: Sarah-I get the exact same reaction when my text messeges come through, I have Snape saying 'Expeliarmus' on my mobile!! Unless anyone has been able to get a hold of that scene, then I think we will just have to wait for it to come out on dvd! Not to worry though, it comes out on 7th of March!! YAY!!

What is your location? Vermont Comments: WOW thank you CatsPlay, Andi & Claudia!
Comments: Hikity--Longs Drugs is like Boots in England, aren't they called chemist shops in England? It is a big chain of stores in Western US. We call them pharmacies or drug stores here in the US.
What is your location? UK Comments: Sorry if this is far too OT and if it is then feel free to delete it but...... Most people think I "have a screw loose" when they hear my text message ring tone on my mobile phone. Its Snape saying "Turn to page 394" (and it carries on for a bit too LOL). However, for my incoming call ringtone I want the store cupboard scene out of Goblet of Fire. Can anyone do a sample of this yet or do you have to wait for the dvd to come out? OK I know I'm probably crazy lol but thats me
What is your location? what do you do on a rainy day? No V & A here Comments: Good grief, Claudia, you are amazing. Thank you soooo much - isn't he wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Can't wait to see the film. (btw: I've send you another mail.) Jan, don't worry, I am convinced the film will be released in Canada and the US and in other countries for that matter

Wow! Great stills!
It's great to finally see something substantial from this film. I figure that even if it's not released in theaters in the US, if it comes out on DVD for Canada, it should be in Region 1 format so
Comments: Thanks Sabine, for translating. Yes, I have a black thumb, too - my garden looks like wilderness...
Juliet, I needed some time to figure out what you have posted,
Catsplay, good morning, dear...yes, the link has been posted several times for the last few weeks.

What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Just a note, not sure if this site has been mentioned, but there is an extremely extensive website available for the Berlinale Film Festival. They will be streaming video of all press events, and maintain an archive of all of these videos, photographs, and more. Looks like a good place to bookmark, and if AR goes, maybe we will see some good coverage. There is also media access to film stills from the participating movies. Do we have anyone with a valid reason to request access?
What is your location? GA Comments: Translation of Hikity's German phrase: AR is a plant that we need lavish care and attention on. Hmmm... I'm not sure if I agree with that. I have a black thumb... LOL

What is your location? UK Comments: SECOND! What a swiz! Mind you these mags are useless, I was standing in Longs Drugs one day last week in somewhere unpronouncable on O'ahu (like you do) when I noticed People mag running a 20 years of gorgeous men feature, all the oldies but goodies (Sean Canary, etc) plus latest lovelies, was our Man there, well, what do you think?! I think the basic problem is: no gossip about him, too talented and a nice guy (ok that's 3, but you get the idea)! Happy belated birthdays to all the ones I missed.

Elaine - that is very interesting about the Winter Guest scene - I'll have to check it out! That film (the music alone, actually) makes me cry every time!
Laura - What DVD software do you use? I agree about different content on different Region versions - that doesn't make sense to me. Just can't see the advantage to them. It only encourages people to buy region-less DVD players and get around their regions completely.
Comments: Thanks for that link CatsPlay. I shall get googling the questions later!!
Comments: Laura, unfortunately I have no idea how to make a clip and I haven't got a DVD-player on my computer. I just checked my DVDs - the interview with AR is on the 2nd DVD of HPand the Chamber of Secrets. He talks about other things (the stone/wooden stairs on the left behind him for example) mixed with film caps, however, it is the same place, same picture at the wall behind him and he wears the same clothes. Therefore, I assume, the video clip posted here some days ago is another part of this interview. I have no idea whether this is somewhere "hidden" on my various DVDs, but I'll find out. Sorry I couldn't be of more help for the time being.

What is your location? Claudia, atleastsevenofthemwerebrandnew!!!!!!Anybod yneedanewfryer???? Comments: CatsPlay, the Oliviers are the most prestigious British acting awards so it will be interesting to see who gets nominated.
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Besides the WhatsonStage awards, wasn't there another awards that someone posted here -- Time Out Awards -- for which we should also vote? I'm not familiar with the Olivier awards but that would be great if they are nominated! We should summarize these awards and when they are being announced and given out, so we can be sure and not miss any AR appearances (like that's going to happen, LOL!)
Comments: The Laurence Olivier Awards are to be announced on Wednesday.
Quote: Up for grabs are awards covering everything from Best Director, Best Actress and Best Actor, through to Best New Play and Outstanding Achievement awards.
What are the chances of Alan or Megan receiving a nomination?
What is your location? GA Comments: Bless you, Elaine!!!
I agree with you, Elaine. Why oh why doesn't AR do some of these kinds of projects. I was just questioning this over the weekend with my discovery of yet another sweet beautiful and wonderful Brit film called Women Talking Dirty. Two weeks ago I caught a sweet little film called Last Orders. I fell in love with both films....as I usually do with British films. Then there's the likes of Peter's Friends and the list goes on and on. But I just don't understand why AR doesn't choose to do some of these.
I can't help but wonder if it might have something to do with what he perceives as the unfair business practices of the British film industry. He talked about it a little bit with Tim Sabastian in the Hard Talk interview.
Laura, I am total agreement with you about the differences in regions. Its one of my pet peeves! I do understand their need to do region encoding but there is absolutely no excuse for giving one region more extras than another. Its a simple case of them abusing their power. Thankfully though, the onslaught of multi-regional players, hacks, and international buying power finally give the little guy/gal a chance to fight back a little.
Comments: There is a Poliakov season on BBC4 as "back-up" for his 2 new plays. I missed most of the documentary on him so don't know if there was any snippets.... Anyway, an alert to Claudia, Bill Nighy is in the next SP drama showing in Feb. Don't worry, I'll set the Sky+ for you! (Why doesn't AR do these things??)
Comments: Jan I found how to get rid of these boring upsetting games. My software to make a backup copy of the dvd allows to copy the whole dvd or to "re-author" ( it says so,I don't know the meaning thou) and ONLY burn what I want from the dvd. So it shows all the inside-the-dvd and I was able to get only the deleted scene of potion class, for example...without that InterActual software devasting my computer again! I'm sure I watched all the extras available in my dvd and this interview was not there I'm trying to understand what version I have to buy to be able to get this interview. Not to tell that I'm mad about these different extras from one region to another. We all pay money to buy DVDs and it's not fair that someone get more extras than others. sorry for the rants, I hope it's not OT since it is about an AR movie/interview
What is your location? Sheffield-UK Comments: Well, I suppose Hello at least gave Alan a mention... 'ever periennial'... Who writes /edits this mag? WHAT A LAUGH... they also need a STATISTICIAN... they can't add up either...their vote totals 102 %. Close-run, indeed, ah well, it must have been GB'S Turn, he finished only third last year...they could n't possibly have the 'ever periennial' Mr. Rickman first! What is he../ A Plant ! Came upon a snippet of information on BBC4 CLOSE MY EYES is due for broadcast on Sunday, 26th February, at 10.45 pm -12.25am GMT TBC To Be Confirmed. So set dvd/video's anyone who has n't had the pleasure. Was searching Polikoff's 'Friends and Crocodiles' when I came upon this.
What is your location? GA Comments: Thank you for the factoid, Elaine!!!!!
I wonder if he appears anywhere else in the film that hasn't been noticed yet. Oh well...I guess I will take on the "chore" of watching it yet again!
Apparently MiL does A LOT of frying, sue
GB's image caption says "It was Gerard Butler's first time at the top of the poll for Most Attractive Man. The swoony Glaswegian actor came third last year". Yeah right....that little fellow should have been in third place this year too!
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Hello Elaine,
Thank you for sharing the info about the Winter Guest. I will have to go watch that scene to see the boy!

Happy Birthday Severina, too! (And anyone else I missed below.)
Laura - From what I've read on the Internet, those endless games are the way you gain access to the extras - EVERY TIME you want to view them. It seems to be a major complaint of adult (or anyone not very young, I would think) fans of Harry Potter.
I would also like to know which version that interview is on. It could be on all but hidden behind all of the games? I can't play anything but Region 1, anyway, though.
What is your location? Vermont Comments: Thanks for the info Elaine and Sue.
Sue ROFL, love your location!
What is your location? ClearingMILskitchenwhywouldonepersonhave17fryingpa ns? Comments: More stuff from the Great Hello Vote on their site HERE>.
Quote: Our race for Most Attractive Man was a far more close-run affair, with Phantom Of The Opera hunk Gerard Butler battling it out with perennial favourite Alan Rickman. The rising Glaswegian talent racked up 28 per cent of the vote, narrowly forcing Harry Potter actor Alan into second place with his 27 per cent share.
Comments: thank you for the info, Elaine.
Hikity, if you could make a clip of the whole interview it would be great. Can you also tell me what dvd it is? title, region, version? I ( and a few friends of mine)am looking for this dvd, my italian dvd of HP has nothing but useless games
What is your location? Vermont Comments: Elaine, I'm so glad you're here still!
Comments: De-lurking to pass on some info I thought might interest you. One of my son's friends at college has just told him he was an extra in "The Winter Guest". He was the lad in the tea room who gazes wistfully at the tray of cakes and the 2 ladies. (Got paid £50 for 4 seconds of screen time!) But, he also said that AR sat in as an extra in the same scene. Unfortunately, he must have cut it, because I've been through it frame by frame, and he is nowhere to be seen. Shame, but nice to know that he did have another little cameo in it apart from the man who tips his hat! Back to lurkdom.
Comments: Hey All!
Happy Belated Birthday Severina and RedTango!
Sorry, stupid PC is broken AGAIN! oh my god! That's the second time this month! So i'm using my brother's laptop AGAIN
Comments: Hello (in the truest meaning)
Give me a mathematical problem to solve and I’m in top form.
I took the percentage for each celeb they state on their page (btw: If you ad them up you get 102% Based on the fact that Hello did only remove votes (and didn’t add) I calculated the most likely amount of votes they removed.
It turned out that person with the least number of primed votes is Hugh Jackman.
And with about 95.000 primed votes Orlando Bloom is the undefeated leader here. The runner-ups are Sean Bean with about 63.000 votes and Alan Rickman with ca. removed 36.000 votes.
Even from Gerard Butler they must have primed about 18.500 votes.
And to every one who add a nother year to their age:
