Comments: Ho-hum. This is getting tiring.
Here is Sheila -
Here is not Sheila --
Note Sheila's small almond shaped eyes. Note the other woman's large doe eyes. Note Sheila's Rickman-like nose. Note the other woman's petite nose. Note Sheila's height. Note other woman's lack of height.
The woman in the bottom picture is not Sheila. She was his date for the 2002 Emmys. She has never been identified, but she shows up in at least one other picture with him over the years (I don't have it). She is one of AR's many mystery lady friends.
What is your location? Madison Comments: Thanks for some tips, I think I've already made a decision. But it was sooo hard! But the most important thing for me was When Love Speaks (also as for future student of English literature and drama)
To Alan and Sheila-I'm almost sure it IS Sheila-just my opinion

Thanks a lot Susan, Sue and Emily for answering my questions about that rare pic of Alan and those little girls around him.. At the beginning, I really believed that the rare pic was a manip, as well Emily said IT IS A MANIPULATION. Lex told me too. Thanks, dear Lex! Nowadays, Alan's nieces should be older than the girls in the photo. It made me unsure for moments! Lex posted a pic from Ebay saying that the woman who appears beside Alan is Sheila... but Emily said that the woman isn't Sheila...who is she then?

What is your location? Arkansas Comments: I have a Winter Guest video some may have for free if they want it.
Comments: Kristina: Since you ask . . . 1) Mesmer = Title role - all Alan, all the time - and gorgeous! 2) Something the Lord Made = lots of a more recent version of Alan. Also, Mos Def is great and it's an interesting theme. 3) Judas Kiss = I LOVE him in it, and Emma always, but their parts are smallish. Rasputin = great acting, lots of Alan, but not adorable (for my money) Dark Harbor = very good, distant naked Alan, but a bit depressing. The last scene is fun. Closet Land = Delicious, no doubt, but it's a disturbing theme. January Man = Adorable, but a small role.
Comments: Kristina--
My personal opinion here...
Something the Lord made--It's a good movie, very good. Alan plays a good man. But it isn't one of his more yummy roles.
Closet Land--Alan is stunning. But many have said it was a disturbing movie to watch. It isn't one that I tend to go back to either, even though he is beautiful in it. Also, I had problems finding that the only copies I could get had mostly Spanish menus.
Dark Harbor--Yes, get it! He gets naked and the last scene is worth it all.
Mesmer--Have not seen it, but what little I have seen, I think it would be worth it.
Rasputin--It's very interesting and I think would be worthwhile to see. It is one of his less physically attractive roles. But as always he has charisma.
Judas Kiss--Haven't seen it but am on the look out for it myself. I think it would be good. It has Emma in it too!
The January Man--He's in it so little and has so few lines, I wouldn't bother buying it. Watch it sometime if you can rent it or borrow it or have just loads of money someday.
What is your location? Madison Comments: By the way I have a problem and I need a help. I'm still in USA and until I will go back home to Europe a can get almost all of Alan's movies which I didn't have. ¨ BUT: money money money..so, please, advise me which I should buy, please...
Something the Lord made Closet Land Dark Harbor Mesmer Rasputin Judas Kiss The January Man

What is your location? Madison Comments: I also found some obscurities in the article and the part about the jasmin etc.is really strange for him- at once so perspicuous? I don't mean that it's so much personal but still not his own style.
"The Big Theater Return" will make us wondering a lot, won't it? But certainly it will be good chosen play. And if Juliet or Lindsay could play with him...no no no...it's so much happiness at once.
What is your location? NZ Comments: Sue and Emily, I agree about the padding out of The Scotsman article. Maybe her editor asked her to make it longer than her original interview so we had the speech defect, LLD stuff which is a bit tired. I was puzzled he was not asked to be part of the year long Shakespeare festival at Stratford actually. Look forward to hearing news of any upcoming theatre announcement and hope Sue, you will keep us posted.
What is your location? Munich Comments: I've been reading the GB for a long time and now just have to add my little comment about the Scotsman Interview. As sue and emiliy have already mentioned, some sentences and phrases are literally taken out of Patons book. Also I wondered very much about the last sentences talking about the jasmine bushes growing in the doorway. Do the houses in London, where he lives, have courtyards at all? And didn't "Private lives" run out in 2002 and not in 2001? Just a few points I thought about and now I go in background again. Please excuse my short English!
Comments: sue, I am glad that you also picked up on how much of the Scotsman piece was padded out by stuff lifted directly from the Paton book. There are phrases that if memory serves are pretty much word for word from the book - mostly the biographical stuff about him and Rima. She's no longer lecturing at Kingston , is she? I'm pretty sure she retired.
The writer came off as a fluffhead, IMHO. And that title ... well, there's the reason right there that he rarely does interviews.
Comments: Thank you soooooo much Miriam and Yulia! Next time I see my family-friend who met him, I shall try and let you know what happened. Have a great day everybody!
What is your location? France What is the URL of your HomePage? ROFL *spreading the water off my mouth on the computer screen* OMG I loved so much the article in the Scotsman ! ![]() It could be great if he comes back on stage !!! I must save money right now ! lol Woow The photo of the magazine is woooow ! LOL Thank you Sue ! ![]()
Comments: Oh, now the price is £54.00!!!! Unbelievable! Brittany, it is absolutely clear that Alan and Rima have no children, they both are involved in helping some children and it's the most kind of them. Just look at The National Autistic Society, which Alan and Rima are members of. Great! By the way I have got today a letter of Mrs Melanie Parker, this time it took less then 2 months. Good luck! Yulia
Comments: Hikity, I have given up trying to fathom out the mentality of ebay purchasers!!
Comments: Sue, then, why on earth, did the price on ebay rise so much - ridiculous, isn't it (some 56 GBP or so...)
Comments: Hikity, the interview on the web is from Scotland on Sunday and the magazine cover is listed on ebay as from Scotland on Sunday's Spectrum magazine so I am assuming they are the same thing!
Comments: sue, is this one and the same interview? I thought that's different from the one on the internet we got from Emily..
Comments: It's no wonder he doesn't do many interviews when they go stick something like that on the cover. I don't suppose it's the journalist's doing but some sub-editor laying out the cover and trying to catch the eye but it really is irrelevant to the article isn't it? Also quite a bit of the interview looked padded out by old stuff, you know the usual: speech impediment, "sex with Alan Rickman" etc etc. Still I suppose we have to be grateful for small crumbs. Interesting to note that it appears to be a conscious decision not to do any interviews on My Name is Rachel Corrie. I have always been surprised that none of the Arts programmes covered it over here. So shall we start surmising on what he could return to stage with?? Hopefully something modern.
What is your location? Almelo, the Netherlands Comments: Hi Brittany,
No, Alan and Rima do not have children. I am not surprised, though, that he participated in a program for children, for I have a feeling he is wonderful with children. I hope that this anwers your question properly.
Miriam
Comments: Miriam, Jéssika et al, please scorll down and find the new article provided by Emily and Ellen. However, there is no article about the "Sexy Beast" - this is just from a cover and you can buy the agazine on ebay if you want...
Comments: Okay, so where's a link for the sexy beast article! AGGG, I'm going nutty. Miriam
What is your location? tx Comments: In Michael Collins AR plays DeValera. That's the one with the glasses. Here's a link to a picture http://michaelcollins.warnerbros.com/cmp/gfx/b19.jpg. AR is on the left and Liam Neeson is on the right. Miriam
What is your location? Madison Comments: Sorry I'm so late, but: OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!! The article!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's just a minute I read it!!!! And I still can't breath.A little bit of information-not speculations!
And his return to theater? Nothing can be better!!! I know that he's the type-when is he playing, he puts in the character everything and it's very nerve-racking -but we all know that he loves that too!!!
ALan, how is it possible, that I love you more and more? I'm still wheezing!
What is your location? Wellington. NZ Comments: Yes, it is great to think Alan will be treading the boards again.(Is that a bit of an old-fashioned phrase?). I just sneaked out of work to see Wah-Wah at our Film Festival. Great film. Our man would have been good as Richard E Grant's dad.
Comments: So, I have two questions. One: Do Alan Rickman and/ Rima Horton have kids? I have been meaning to ask for a while, because A family friend of mine had a sort of schooling program for kids and says Alan Rickman was there...HE TALKED TO HIM AND DIDN'T TELL ME!!!!!!!!! URGGGG! And the second question is I just bought Micheal Collins on VHS for a dollar (OMG) and I am confused on what Alan's role is. I have only watched the first thirty minutes or so, but before I get farther and more confused, I would like to know whats going on and what his role is, so if anyone can help me out I would be really happy!!!!
What is your location? Brasil Comments: Sorry girls, i got crazy with sexy beast pic and didn't see the link. i've just read it. he's really lovely, and man, i wish i could watch MNIRC.
What is your location? Brasil Comments: Girls!!!!!
Please someone could post the link to the interview?? the sexy beast one????
PLEASE!!
Comments: From today's Sunday Times Culture Magazine: Quote:
Comments: Dee, Sexy Beast is the name of a very violent Brit gangster movie starring Sir(and don't you forget it!) Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone, maybe you were thinking of that??
What is your location? New York Comments: The seller on EBay also has other photos of Alan, most of them I think we've seen before (all with LD), but there's one (I think around the time LLD was playing) I hadn't seen before. LD looks so young!
Comments: Thanks for posting the cover, Sue. The EBay bidding frenzy is outta control! Hopefully it'll show up on one of the newsstands that stock foreign papers here in a couple of days.
Comments: That woman in the pic is not Sheila.
What is your location? London Comments: Laura, the pic can be found in our Forum ![]()
Comments: What a fabulous article! The author didn't just regurgatate the stories we're heard a million times -- there was so much new stuff here! His views on growing older, his relationship with Rima, MNiRC, etc. Thank you Ellen! But ya know...I'm pretty sure that article title "Sexy Beast" has been used before... Does anyone remember?
Comments: I can't open that page, Lex. Is it a new pic? Did you save it and can send it to me, please? Thank you all for sharing your finds!

Comments: Thanks to Emily for the interview link. I rushed through it this morning before work but obviously missed the going back on stage bit!!! Fingers crossed for that. If it happens I have a feeling there will be a lot of travellers to London!
What is your location? New York Comments: Oh, Wow! Thanks so much Emily, Barbara and Ellen for the absolutely fantastic article! His interviews are so few and far between that to have one as in depth as this one is just amazing! The best part? back on stage!!! I have to start saving my pennies now!

Comments: Thanks so much for the link to the article Barbara & Ellen. Do you know what made me jump out of sheer exitement???
"They changed all our lives," Rickman says, adding that he is planning a return to the stage soon. "It's still under discussion," he says, adding that it will be the first piece of theatre he has done since Private Lives, in the West End in 2001"
Comments: Emily, I know Rachel only as I know any character, the way I know Alex Hughes, say, the man I play in Snowcake, who is probably more like me than anyone I've ever played. He's very close to me, because I enjoy playing somebody who is just doing his best - that's me." This is what I felt when I saw the film - and - maybe therefore - for me it's his best film so far.
What is your location? London Comments: Emily and Sue are absolutely right. The two young girls are far too young for Alan's nieces and besides that it is a photo manip by a Russian we better go no further investigating in the matter to not upset someone.
What is your location? Indonesia What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://alan_rickman_freak.blogs.friendster.com/rickmesmerized/ Comments: Wow, that article ROCKS! Thank you for the link and thank you for the pictures!
I think the Alan and the kids photo was taken in front of a stage door, no? A fan's daughters? I don't believe it was his nieces...
Comments: Emily, thanx for the photos and the link. Dee, thanx fro the story's link. As for the pic, it is rather Phot Shop manip, of course. Even the image is quite unclear and mystery. Good luck!

Comments: I'm in a bit of a rush, so if this isn't new please forgive me. It's dated July 22, 2006:
"Just saw Alan Rickman at Blue Fin in Times Square. He and two lady friends were seated at the table behind me. They all sat down, the waiter came to take my order and when I looked back at the table, they were gone. Maybe he didn't like sitting in the back." Here's the link to the story:
Comments: Here's the link to the long Scotsman interview with AR. Lots of stuff here.
What is your location? New Zealand Comments: Good article/interview in today's (Sunday) The Scotsman,. Someone who gets Google alerts and is more technically literate will be able to do a link. Seems a promise of a return to the boards.
What is your location? New York Comments: Emily, thanks so much for the new pictures of Alan! They're really great! The other gentleman in the photo is Simon Hammerstein, Dena's son, who's a producer, director, and entrepreneur. IIRC, "The Box" is going to be a dinner theatre/supper club located in The Village in NYC, not too far from where MNIRC will be playing. It was supposed to have it's big opening this fall.
Comments: Thanks for the new pics Emily, great find! I love to see that he wears pink
Comments: Right, sue. And isn't AR quoted somewhere saying that his sister didn't dress her daughters in pink?
My thought is, this is a Photo Shop manip that someone made of their (very, very cute) kids ...
Correction to the new photos -- they were taken on Thursday night, not last night.
Comments: I wasn't going to comment on that photo as I wasn't comfortable with kids being discussed but I must admit my first thought was the same as Emily's, the kids would be much older compared with him.
Comments: Forgot to add -- the "rare" photo looks Photoshopped.
Anyway, here are some REAL photos of AR. Taken in NYC last night at a theater event. Woman with him is the NY producer of MNIRC, Dena Hammerstein.
Comments: Sorry to rain on the speculation parade, but I doubt those are his nieces. The nieces were probably 3 and 6 or 4 and 7 or so when CME was made in 1990. Look at Alan in this picture! He has the Private Lives haircut, which means this picture was taken in 2001 or so -- TEN years after CME was made! Surely his nieces have not been frozen in time since then.
What is your location? England Comments: Also....look at the resemblance to Alan with the girl on the left!
A proper Rickman if ever I saw one.
What is your location? Hot and sticky office at home Comments: I do believe they are Alan's nieces Amy and Claire. They are the same two girls that were in Close my eyes and those were his nieces. If you look at the little girl goes over and speaks to at the garden party near the end that's her on the right.

What is your location? UK Comments: Edinburgh is a bit far for me too but I would love to go see it! Oh well I suppose I'll have to wait til September when it comes out in the cinema!
Comments: I can't remember if this has been mentioned before but Snow Cake is to be shown at the Edinburgh film festival on the 15th and 17th August 19.00 and 17.10 respectively. Tickets are £7.50 cons £5.20 I would love to go but Edinburgh is a bit too far.
What is your location? TX Comments: Rickmanic, I LOVE the photos. Before I read what you wrote below the pic of AR and "Bethany" (why can't I remember her name?) I though, Gee, it looks like she's grabbing him and wow, look at the look on his face. Then I read what you wrote. LOL. So, I guess you're not the only one who interpreted it that way. What is your location? Germany Comments: I came across the news that there will be a German book about 'Perfume' and the places it was shot and supposed to take place, i.e. Barcelona, Grasse etc. It seems to be some kind of travel guide, but the article said that there also will be an 18-page-long chapter about the actual film shooting. I don't know whether it will include any interesting information, but it might be worth checking out when it will be released - probably in August. The book's called Auf den Spuren von Patrick Süskinds "Das Parfüm". Eine Reise zu Romanschauplä

First of all: This site is one of my favorites about AR - really great work!!! Well I'm visiting this guestbook constantly - because the pics and news you share here are great!!
Now the reason why I'm "out of underground"
When I saw this picure some days ago here
and read the comment: What AR might be thinking
I remembered a funny picture from the same event which I found some month ago with a funny comment another AR-fan wrote:

Well I thought I should share
Now I'm back on my way to underground
Best wishes Rickmanic

sue, thanks for the review of The Seagull. For some reason (because I haven't seen a thing he's in yet), I get the distinct feeling that Ben Whishaw is an AR in the making. Thanks for posting the new Perfume pics! With Perfume and Snow Cake on the horizon, its just seems like fall will never get here!
I know Villa Golitsyn is a long shot....a really looooong shot but I still have hope that it will make it to the screen one day with AR and KST.
AFNH sent me an article a few days ago from a magazine for the Edinburgh Festival. Forgive my tardiness in posting. Thanks so much AFNH!!!
Speaking of Snow Cake, what did you think of it, Chalebh? And lucky Lurking Fairy! We want to hear what you lucky ladies thind about the film.
The fabulous INTJ has worked very hard on capturing Babitsky's War for us. I now have it and I'll upload it to my server this evening and post a link above tonight. Thank you so much INTJ for all your hard work and willingness to share so much with us.
CatsPlay found a couple of LJ postings with New York AR sightings. Take a peek at her LJ for details. Rickmanalysis.com Thanks CatsPlay!
Dee, I've always liked that pic from the Dogma photoshoot. Not only do we have a beautiful shot of The Man's profile but Ben Affleck's pose is a hoot.
Going backwards a bit. I'm finally getting to read the Anna Massey book. I'm such a slow reader because I only have time to read for pleasure at bedtime and I usually fall asleep. But I'm enjoying the book. Its been a delightful read so far. There is one other little AR bit that I missed when I originally posted about the book. In the Acknowledgements, AR is the very first person she thanks. "Alan Rickman who was responsible for getting the whole project started". I haven't forgotten the questions that were asked back when I posted the first AR bits and as soon as I get to the answers, I'll post them.
As much as I'm enjoying reading about Anna Massey's life AND I'm twisting an old phrase around a bit....
Alan Rickman! What's good for the gander is good for the goose! When will we be getting your autobiography????
Kristina, I'm so glad that your Internet connection is fixed. We missed ya!
As for the news alert about AR attending Bill Gates birthday party (thanks for posting Marlina), I was quite surprised to see his name in the list of attendees. I would have never expected that from him.
I've admired Paul Allen for years. Right after making his fortune with Microsoft, he left MS (but he still consults from time to time) and used his fortune to help others.
*grin* As for gold digging Allen...can I join the party sue and Hikity?

Comments: Lordy...could you imagine the excitement here if Alan DID get the much deserved Oscar nomination?? And the explosion of happiness if he GOT it?? AAANNnnnnd the screams of anguish if he didn't win??
Comments: Yes, Sam, I agree but still for me the interaction and dialogues between Alan and SW were absolutely outstanding and in fact the highlight of the fílm
What is your location? London Comments: Hello, Well I for one cant wait to see Snowcake,I know that it has had a very good response abroad and one of my fellow collegues has seen this film and totally raved about it. They had nothing but praise for the script and the film in general, but the performances were what caught my collegues eye, they said that Miss Weaver was amazing in her part, but the scenes that really stood out were between Mr Rickman and Miss Moss, said that they had some electricity going on there...Also that Mr Rickman(I must start calling him Alan oh here)was just outstanding and should be in contention for an Acadamy nod... So,with all that,I cant wait for it to turn up here in the UK.. Sam..
What is your location? Gettingthedidacticsoutinthesun... Comments: sue, no, I think it's too hot in the sun to dig for gold right now. We should wait for the sunset,
Comments: sue, soon, don't worry...in November is the official release. I know it's still a long way. Chalebh said that it won't be shown in English - which is a PITY - These dialogues are sooooo British, so dry , I luv that film.

Comments: Just remembered, I think that photo was taken at memorial service for Hugo Young, columnist on The Guardian
Comments: Quote: It was being chartered by the world's third richest man, Paul Allen, who is in the habit of inviting several hundred close personal friends along on his adventures.
Who is this gentleman and where can I meet him!!
Comments: Yulia, that B&W photo was taken at a funeral/memorial sevice for somebody. I think it was a journalist but might be wrong (I know it wasn't John Diamond anyway)

Of course, the biggest splash of celebrity sightings happened one slow Sunday morning in October 1998, when the cruise ship Crystal Harmony tied up at the dock. It was being chartered by the world's third richest man, Paul Allen, who is in the habit of inviting several hundred close personal friends along on his adventures. Among the guests was the richest man in the world, Bill Gates, - whose birthday was the reason behind the trip - and dozens of Hollywood and music world A, B, and C.listers. Wandering Ketchikan streets were the likes of Robin Williams, Candice Bergen, Rob Reiner, Dennis Hopper, Tom Hanks, Penny Marshall, Alan Rickman, Lou Reed, Debbie Reynolds, Rita Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, Jerry Hall, Carrie Fisher, Billy Crystal, "Titanic" director James Cameron, Dan Ackroyd, Henry Kissinger and Houston Rockets star Clyde Drexler.
Did Alan have any relation with Bill Gates???

What is your location? england Comments: Yes, I think The Villa Golitsyn is going to join the list of The Ones That Got Away! It obviously isn't being filmed at the time it was listed to ie June 5th-July 28th!
O/T( but with more than a couple of degrees to AR) - This afternoon I went to The National Theatre and saw Chekhov's The Seagull a new version by Martin Crimp. This received a few horrendous reviews as well as a couple of very good ones. Juliet Stevenson played Madam Arkadina and Ben Wishaw her son Konstantin. It appeared to be set in Russia but in about the 30s. The sets were all huge and crumbling and would appear to be post-revolution and yet strangely there were about 8 servants who scurried around rather distractingly throughout the play. Juliet Stevenson was brilliant and I think Ben Whisaw is destined fro great things. He is quite small and as thin as a rake and full of angst (plus he had a cute butt whilst leaning over the grand piano! I loved the sets which sometimes were three rooms deep ie you could see things going on two rooms behind through |
