Hello Ladies! Kristina, you shouldn't worry about your English, whatever you say about Alan we'd understand. It's like in a very popular advertising "We all speak one language-Alan Rickman( in our case), so feel yourself okay.

Ulrika, thanx for such cute stuff!

Claudia, thank you very much for the photos, they are fantastic!

Ladies, I'd like to ask you some questions which I am so interested in. So, is it true, that "

The failure
of
Antony and Cleopatra has steered him away from Shakespeare."? The article is "Alan Rickman: Beguiling monster who made Cherie weak at the knees"

I think here is somebody who was at "Antony and Cleopatra" and was it really a failure?

One more thing, which I have no idea about.:

Rickman again revived his role as the mysterious Professor Snape for the series’ fourth installment, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005), the first to be helmed by a British director (Mike Newell). Then in late 2005, he began shooting “Zodiac,” a psychological thriller about the famed Zodiac killer who terrorized San Francisco from 1966-1978.

Probably I missed something, or I was abcent when you discussed it? Anyway, please tell me what is "Zodiac". Sorry, if I say something wrong  Blushy 4

Thank you

Yulia

Welcome aboard Maryland and Kristina!  Glad you finally felt comfortable enough to join us.

Congrats to your son, Maryland and I'm sending many good wishes for his success. Who knows....maybe one day he will get the chance to work with AR!  Wouldn't that be something to talk about?

Kristina, no apology needed at all about your English.  You do very well with English.

Ellen that diary entry you posted was fun to read.  AR certainly has a great sense of humor.

sue, thanks so much for the RSC archive link and the review of SC.  I hope everyone will get a chance to see SC in the fall.  I still haven't read any word on it opening here in the US.

Liamath, the link you posted with the Hunniford interview and caps is from Suzanne.  I love that interview!

Many thanks for Laura for the 2002 European Film Awards red carpet video!  Gosh, it doesn't seem that long ago that I was sitting in front of my telly waiting for AR to show up on that show!  And as usual,   bunches of thanks to INTJ for capturing the video for us.

Camerata, your site is getting better and better each and every day!  Congrats!

Last night I was surfing eBay for an ice cream freezer to take to my Daddy's in September for his 70th birthday and thought I'd do my usual perusal of AR stuff and found some pics from Tribecca that I don't recall seeing before.  If these are old news, please forgive me.

Jessica, that part in SnowCake where she asks Alex to put his arms around her and squeeze her really hard but dont touch me with your hands is i think suppose to be a signifigant in some way. Its too bad it makes you feel uncomfortable as it should not make you feel uncomfortable it should make you feel good, you know something, i even did that with Keith one day and you know what,,,,,,,,,it made me feel good. Hello everyone,

At first I want to apologize for my English. But I think you will understand what I'm talking about.

I visit this ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, BRILLIANT, PRECIOUS site already several months. It took me days and days to see all clips and most of  messages.

Until today I decide to arouse public notice - that I'm in the same boat.

Alan Rickman gives me reason to live, reason to be who am I ( is it understandable ? :-) ).

Beside next things important for me, he is best actor which I've ever seen. Talking about his voice is funny - is there someone who don't love it?

I'm quite young and hope that one day I'll be talking to him, perhaps working with him...who knows...(I'm working on it)

For your information I want to continue study and live in England-my favourite country in the world :-)

On Friday I'm leaving from Czech Republic (country which I hate) to spend summer holidays in Madison at my uncles house. So my english has a chance!

This is a reason why I decide to write my first message (before my departure) and hope to visit this site every day as I used to do last months.

I have a notebook but I'm not sure about connecting to Internet in USA.

Simply: I want to belong to your big family and not be just a calm watcher.

Uf...exhausting :-)

Now I'm going to watch Robin Hood, I haven't seen it for sooo long time!

And sorry for my tenses-I'm absolutely not sure when, which...you know

A new review of Snowcake on IMDb

heartbreaking - and not just for ASD professionals, 28 June 2006
9/10
Author:
xjl-mummy from United Kingdom

I was able to see this as part of the recent Autism Cymru conference, and can honestly say that this is one of the best films I have seen for years. It somehow maintains a balance between the drama, the need to establish Weaver's character without mawkishness or making her a complete freak, and a rite of passage for Rickman's character. There was no point at which I doubted the authenticity of the character's experiences. It does help to know something about autism (I am a parent of someone with ASD and parts of this were so true it hurt) but not compulsory, and I would heartily recommend it to dispel some myths! I can't really tell you more without giving it all away - go and see it! Snow Cake is both poignant and rib-achingly funny in parts.

We were also fortunate to meet the writer, the director and the autistic woman who "coached" Sigourney Weaver. Absolutely fascinating. I can't wait for this to be released and will be buying the DVD for friends and family.

Linda--" have you ever had an orgasm Al?"

Alex--" it has been known"

Linda--"Vivian once explained it to me and it sounds like an inferior version of what i feel like when i have a mouth full of snow, you should try it."

And Caregivers are all types of nurses from Registered Nurses to Licenced Practical Nurses to Nursing Assistants ( wich do not have any medical background). Caregivers provide support to those who are in need rather it be with ADL --Activities of Daily Living ( bathing, dressing and eating) to those who just are a companion of sorts to watch out over those who need a litte direction or encouragment. Usually they do not work in a hospital but in a private outfit that the family of the loved one hires.

I know this as I am a LPN, and i work in a hospital where we are allowed to give medications, needles and support to the Nurses Aids.

sue
6/28/06 at 11:21 AM

Comments:

Jessika, you are right he say's "It has been known"

The other phrase is "It sounds like and inferior version of what I feel when I have a mouthful of snow"

Caregivers is not a phrase we use much in the UK. We would mormally say "carers" ie somebody who looks after sick/disabled/handicapped people. It can be an employed person or simply a member of the family.

In "Snow Cake" trailer Alan is asked if he had ever had an orgasm, I'd like to know what he responds cause I can't understand, is it "It has been known"?

And then Weaver says to him "it sounds like and inferior version of what I feel when I have ... now". What she says in the "..."???

And another tiny thing... what does "caregivers" mean? At that sentence on McDonald's?

Dear Hikity,

My son's degree is a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Television/Film.

New York University, Tisch School of The Arts, Maurice Kanbar School of Television/Film. What a mouthful!

Nick is his name and he wants to either direct or write films. When he was a little boy, the first film he wanted to own was "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves". Naturally he can quote The Sheriff to this day! In fact, RHPOT was a favorite of my three boys. ( I have a daughter too!)

NYU has graduated some of our most celebrated directors and actors. Nick had the opportunity to meet many of them.

Hope this answers your question.

Hello fellow AR fans!

I've been lurking here for over two years but after Dee's revelation that she was a Dental Assistant, I had to say "Hello".

I've been a Dental Assistant for over twenty years, the last fifteen at a cosmetic dental practice.  Naturally, I was very happy when AR had his teeth " fixed ". I am hoping to go to NYC to see MNIRC in the fall. I have a 23 year old son who just got his BFA degree in Film from NYU (which coincidentally is the Alma mater of directors Ang Lee and Chris Columbus).  He just moved to an apartment on the east side of Greenwich Village, across town from the Minetta Lane Theatre. How amazingly convenient if I want to come up for the play!

In 1987 I was not an AR fan and could have seen him in LLD on Broadway, and also missed him in Private Lives. I am determined not to miss this chance to see his play and hopefully meet him as well. I have managed to obtain most of AR's films either on VHS or DVD, even "Judas Kiss" and "Rasputin". My husband of almost 35 years is very understanding, as he is the direct beneficiary of my "state of mind" after watching an AR film! ( You ladies must know how that works!) Please pardon my first post for rambling on and on! Please  post when fans are going to MNIRC! I don't have tickets yet!

Regards,

Maryland

I'm coming into this late but...
"The Coat": I vote fabulous! Alan seems to chose fabrics that are lush and soft. I'd bet the coat looks unbelieveably elegant and touchable in person.

"The Teeth": I was a dental assistant for 14 years, but doubts that anyone wants to get into an indepth discussion of the man's dental treatments and oral hygiene habits (if you DO, let me know. I can talk "teeth" for hours! Makes me lots of fun at parties! *snort*)  If this helps the satisfy teeth curiousity: this is a photo I took of Alan on April 28th that includes a big, hearty laugh. Sigh...don't you just know he would be a fascinating dinner companion.

Man, good catch on the teeth! I don't know that I would have noticed any time soon. *sigh* I kinda miss the snaggle tooth look. It's rather charming. And I do so adore his minor imperfections.  LOL!!! Anyone remember the episode of The Simpsons where Lisa goes to the dentist and she doesn't want braces but he "threatens" her with the "Book of British Smiles"? LOL!!! God, that is still so funny.... anyway...

That JKR is cagey about her stories! And I'm torn between REALLY wanting to know about book 7 and not wanting it to ever appear...cause then it will be OVER! And of course she didn't and won't say anything that gives you any real clues about what will happen.

But I have my theories....I like to think that Snape later goes on to open a reform school for wayward girls.....

Wow, I hadn't noticed the price on the Winter Guest Screenplay.  I got mine on ebay for $14 and it is autographed by Emma and Phyllida!  I don't think there is additional useful information in there, other than those and a few other previously seen photos, maybe a one page introduction.  I'd  have to pull it out and look, but it's a very thin paperback book.

Thank you Catsplay, to be honest I was just going through the photobucket and therefore it was obviously not known where the pics were taken from. BTW, is the screenplay book useful as in add. info than just the screenbook text? As I see on the link you gave me it is above 100$ for just 167 pages, so...

From a diary entry posted on the web in 2002, the night that the author had seen PL and afterwards met with AR for dinner:

"I was introduced to Alan's brother and his partner, Rima. There followed a wonderful dinner with wine flowing copiously and conversation covering a wide variety of subjects. I sat in between Alan and Rima. I found him very easy and natural. *He has just had his teeth done,* which Sandy, one of the NY ladies, commented on to him with the biggest stage whisper. Alan repeated the whisper to the whole room to great amusement and Sandy's embarrassment."

Since there is no report of AR's missing a performance and he was obviously able to talk that evening, the only likely process (according to my dentist) is veneering, perhaps combined with pulling the oddly placed tooth on the bottom.

Frieda, Alan had some work done on his mouth between the ending of Private lives and the start of Love Actually in NYC. I wondered if he had in-plants put in. If you listen carefully to his speech it is a bit different, and that little tooth that used to stick out has gone.

I remember reading somewhere that he has had some work done on his lower teeth. We all know teeth are no big deal in the UK, but do seem to be a topic of interest across the pond. I saw a recent pic where his lower teeth looked beautifully (might one say un-naturally?) even and I wondered - but haven't had time yet to seek out old pic of lower teeth. Perhaps someone knows.....

Yeah, I vote "awful" on the coat. Made out of something other than fake fur (the kind my mother has sofa pillows made of), it might be quite nice. I was just thinking he needs a pink fedora with a long feather in it and he could play "Huggy Bear".

But when has this man every been NOT yummy?? Never. Put him a clown suit and it'd be okay.

At the book sale at our local library yesterday I managed to pick up the tie-in paperback novel of RHPOT for 20p!

A short feature in yesterday's Telegraph mag about relatives acting together in films mentioned TWG "Emma Thompson and Phyllida Law star as a nagging mother and her recently widowed daughter in TWG (1998) - 'so very different from our real relationship' Thompson said"

JK Rowling is appearing on Richard and Judy 5pm Channel 4 on Monday. The blurb in the TV listings mag says: "Those eagerly anticipating revelations here about the 7th and final book's title - even its publication date - may be overestimating the forensic nature of Richard's interviewing skills just a bit. But Rowling is the mistress of the long-range tease, so you never know what clues will be available to the attuned and attentive". Since I don't have a TV, will anyone else be taking notes?!

annette: I've just watched the Making of Mesmer clips on the TV download page here. I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for, but I found it totally fascinating. I never thought there were any parallels between my work (I'm a software designer) and film-making, but watching AR work, the process of arriving at a result acceptable to all parties seems to me very similar - you start from different positions and work it out together in the minutest detail.

But I can see how AR gets a reputation for being difficult to work with. I know people like that. They just won't let go. If they feel uncomfortable with something they keep at it until it's sorted. Sometimes it's a pain in the backside, but in many cases I find you have to finally admit that they were right all along.
I want to see Mesmer now. Does anyone know what's happening with it in the UK? I get the feeling it is permanently mired in legal problems.

Hikity/Susan-didn't we pay 25 pounds (about $50) to see it in London (and that included the Q&A!)?  Do NYC tickets generally cost that much more than London, or has the earlier controversary driven up the price? Would there be any chance that they will schedule a Q&A like they did at the Playhouse Theater?

You know...it suddenly occured to me. Megan was wonderful as Rachel, but I remember thinking that she almost looked a little too mature for the role. NOT badly -- she's thin, graceful, perky and youthful! (no insult intended) I just wouldn't think she'd be able to play this role much longer.

Previews are for before the critics get to see a play. They are a bit of a practice run for the Opening/Press night when the critics come and do their worst. Sometimes Preview tickets are cheaper over here but not always. Reviews aren't published during the preview run although sometimes the buzz gets out if a play is going to be spectacularly good (or bad!).

It was a woman at the sink preparing vegatbales (I think) and a man slowly walkin up to her and gettin really close and nearly kissin her neck. This last about 3 or 4 minutes and youre all wondering whats this. Then she turns and screams. That was all the trailer and apparently it was PERFUME - Story Of A Murderer!!! And all it said was Coming Soon!!!

Also I asked yesterday if anyone knew of a distributor for the US for Snow Cake. Please let me know because I cant find it in the posts!

Thanx

$150????? For a one woman play?????? Highway robbery!!

Previews just mean that the play is just starting. I'm not exactly sure what it means, but its mentioned alot in reviews of shows. I think its for when the critics (and audiences, of course) can come to review the play and the owners of the theator can see if it is a successful show or not. Then if something is flopping (like that stupid Anne Rice musical) they can boot it before previews end and everyone can sit back and laugh. Er, I guess.

It does seem odd that the "premium" seats are in the middle. Usually, there is an issue with partial view seats in theaters, meaning that if you sit in the partial view seats you won't be able to see some part of the stage. But usually they don't tell you that and you have to figure it out on your own. Try googling the theater to find where the good seats are.

Cats, I think maybe the seats closer to the stage are a bit too close? Nevertheless, I think my tix are in the second row, Row B (I didn't go for the premium seats).

I'm trying to figure out why the 'premium' $150 seats are midway back in the theater.

Also, it doesn't appear you can buy tickets to the opening night 10/15.  It must be VIP only.

Argh. I've impulsively bought tickets for Thursday, 10/5. What does "preview" mean, anyone? Ticketmaster didn't distinguish between "previews" and other shows after 10/15.

Just announced -- MNIRC will play in NYC this year. AR will direct. From NY Times story:

Pam Pariseau and Dena Hammerstein, partners in James Hammerstein Productions, are bringing the play, critically acclaimed in London, to the Minetta Lane Theater in Greenwich Village. Previews are to begin on Oct. 5, with an opening scheduled for Oct. 15. The play is to run for 48 performances, closing on Nov. 19.

Looks like tickets are already on sale.

Hikity: You could use the Convert-function in MS Excel or this web-site http://www.convertworld.com/de/

or if you really want to know which units of measurement exist use this site http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/ (but there you have to calculate on your own).

Thanks to Catsplay for bringing those gorgeous black and whites to our attention AND to person for cleaning them up for us.  The one with the dog is just to cute!    Everyone here is so generous, talented, giving, and darn fun to cyber-hang around with!

First runner up??????  Except for Rasputin, that man never gets what he deserves in the line of awards!

Jessika, feel free to ask any questions about anything AR....we're a really helpful group as you can tell from the AR/tartan conversation.  Thanks to everyone that helped out on the Albert Memorial/tartan picture.

Finally, I got my copy of Anna Massey's book (Telling Some Tales) yesterday as well.  Didn't have any time to read it (I wonder why???    However, I did search out the AR pertinent stuff and thought I'd post it.  Now that things might calm down some, I can't wait to have a proper read.  Anna Massey is quite a fascinating lady.

Ali-Pat, are you ready to make another update to your fabulous site?.........

AR references:

On the back cover, AR is quoted:" 'Telling Some Tales' is moving, totally unselfconscious and very funny."

In AM's first play, The Reluctant Debutante, she says of her co-star Celia Johnson:  "It was extraordinary to be on stage with her, because her concentration took you right into the world of the play, and enabled you to focus with great precision. I have only met two other actors in my career that had this enviable gift, Anthony Quayle and Alan Rickman. There is great reassurance in the air when you act with such players. They prevent stage fright."

The Seagull:  "Alan Rickman was to be Aston, and here I met not only a new friend, but also a performer with profound concentration and insight. I knew from the start that the journey would be intense. The run ended, and we all went our separate ways, but this time I knew that Alan and Harriet [Walter] and I would be in constant touch, and indeed to this day we have been".

The Importance of Being Earnest:  "Margaret Rutherford had played Miss Prism so uniquely in Anthony Asquith's film of the play that I felt daunted by the prospect of tackling the part. I asked Alan Rickman if he would talk about the character with me. He agreed, and one afternoon we walked around Holland Park, and he gave me some brilliant ideas. First of all he said that anyone who could mislay a baby and deposit a manuscript in the pram in its stead was supremely absent-minded, and probably just not on this particular occasion, but frequently. We decided that this forgetful trait could be shown in the way that I dressed, frayed skirts, buttons mislaid, and safety pins to the rescue. The hair should also be distracted, unable to stay in its proper place, with strands poking out in different directions. Gradually a truthful portrait emerged, not just for effect, but grounded in reality. I was so grateful to Alan, for he headed me in a safe direction and I relished the rehearsals and the run".

On holiday in 1983:  "After a few days Alan Rickman and his partner, Rima Horton, joined us. This was a delightful surprise. They stayed in a nearby pension. The three of them went off most days on trips by bus. I was very unadventurous, and apart from swimming, I just lay under a parasol on the beach and
read countless books. The temperature reached 110 degrees some days, and the beaches, where Richard and Alan and Rima went, were too hot to walk on. Alan is very clever at finding out-of-the-way places of interest, and we stopped at several small churches off the beaten track, and wandered around picturesque villages buying the odd memento, breathing in the pine-scented air, and laughing the while. The holiday was a great success, and everyone remained good friends".

On holiday in Palermo:  "On the third day Alan Rickman arrived, and cheered us up no end. He was staying in extremely noisy lodgings, so he came and spent his days with us, finding the noise of our port quieter than the incessant Palermo traffic. He often stayed to dinner, for the food in the hotel was superb. I cannot say that we all returned refreshed, as we had done after our Cretan trip, but we had laughed a lot and shared the hazards of travel with good humour. I had not been strong enough to do any sightseeing, but Richard and Alan were as intrepid as ever, and each evening told me of their expeditions to
churches and museums and neighbouring villages".

That's all for now.  If I run across any other references, I'll post.  I'm hoping there will be a reference to Pity in History some where in the book.  *crossing fingers*

Dee - I'm pretty sure that Another Kiwi is right. The tartan was worn, and the photo was taken as part of the publicity for TWG, aka The Winter Guest. ARdent Jan - thank you very much indeed, but that wasn't the problem.

Frieda - thank you, you've got my problem

I'll download RealPlayer, I was trying to use WMP.

Hey, would I be bothering someone, I needed some help with snowcake trailer, there are some lines I can't understand what is said, if I describe the scene, could you give a hand?

And one more thing... congrats to all FATHERS! (I'm just a little bit lost, here in Brasil we celebrate this date in August, but it's alright). Nice Sunday everybody!!

Dee, that LLD bear was auctioned as part of the Broadway Bears event, proceeds of which support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.  It is a really cute little bear, but I still think that facial hair is suspect....

If I got the link right, you can see a photo here (scroll down about halfway).

I came across this site called "quotes and poem" which has quotes from all sorts of people including the OooA.

Go to

http://www.quotesandpoem.com/quotes/listquotes/author/Alan_Rickman

for 90 (yes 90!) various quotes. Some I know, some are new to me, 1 or 2 repeats, but pretty up to date as has quotes about MNiRC, so maybe it is updated regularly, I'm not sure.

Anyway, it's fun trying to put them all in context, and really interesting to see so many about his approach to acting in one place.

Any fathers here today? Possibly Keith the photographer? Have a good day.

In the photo of Alan dressed in the kilt standing on the "Asia" group of the Albert Memorial in Kensington Park: Do I remember reading somewhere that the kilt was the tartan of someone he knew? Seems like it was someone he was involved with in a film. Ring any bells?

We all remember that adorable Valmont Bear: Does anyone remember what charity it was sold for or how much it made?
Thanks everyone! I appreciate your time and willingness to share!

It wasn't winzip.

Jéssika: At this site you can download a trial copy of WinZip, which will "unzip" the files so you can watch them:

The unzip ability came with my computer as part of WindowsXP, but I think WinZip will work on any .zip file.

Hello Yulia and everybody.  In RHPOT the beard is Alan's and the hair is a wig.  You can see that the hair is slightly darker than his facial hair, but it still works.

As for the Russian song in Rasputin, I would be grateful if someone would identify that for me (title, composer, origin, whatever) so I can add it to my soundtrack page.  I have no inkling about that one except that it is probably a folk song.  I can tell you a little about the song that plays over and over on the gramophone at the end of the film, however.  It is called "Good-bye-ee" (thanks again, Sue!) and was written in 1915 making it a pop hit of the day.

Off to enjoy a fabulous, sunny weekend!

Camerata, probably I did not understand you, (soory if I did not)but we DID see Alan where he had beard. Do you remember a photo "withjamesearljones". There he had a beard. And I saw some more such kind of photos where Alan is in "simple life" with beard.

As for Rasputin I think the beard is not genuine. I've got a photo after the shootings in "Rasputin" and Alan looks quite "smooth-faced" and it does not seem that he's ever had it really. However in that movie his beard looks genuine although.

The same thing goes with "Robin Hood..." . When Alan had in interview afer the movie he was smooth-faced again (and btw, were his hair and beard real in "Robin Hood.."?) Anyway, I do not think that Alan would have a beard in his usual life. He looks much better without it, no doubts.

Sorry if I did not understand somethig.

With best wishes

Yulia

Comments:

Camerata - it is a false beard along with a wig. There is a photo of AR on set together with the actor who played the zar. And AR is clean shaven and with his usual "fluff" there.

So, you guessed correctly and moreover I presume it is anatomically not possible for AR to grow such a thing *lol* Looks quite artificial to me anyway. Yet, even through the filthy hair and beard, AR shines through, doesn't he? So, quite a good casting for Rasputin with his ability to cast looks with hypnotic and mad eyes.

Welcome here Jessica !

I have a very important question LOL
In Rasputin, do you think he has a false beard or a real ?
For me it's a false because it really doesn't like the one ha has in the movies or in the life like in Die Hard or Antony & Cleopatra. Moreover, we haven't seen photos of him with that beard outhere.
What do you think ?

A bit OT: Frieda, congratulation to your effort!!! T Hardy is a famous English writer - high brow literature - and it is a shame that we read so few novels in school - still the influence of the "Bildungstheorie" of Klafki (from the 1960s) and his highly-valued "Bildungsinhalt", which means the decision for one specific novel/story (in case of literature)  as the exemplary content for the students to experience the general in the particular. Instead of discussing and analysing so thoroughly one piece for half a year I think it would be worth reading more, comparing them with movies, adaptations etc, for example the highly-ironical and witty novels of Jane Austen

I know what you mean.  That Snow Cake trailer just kills.  For some reason it's that scene where Linda asks him to hug her without toucher her with his hands and then they show him hugging her.  Yeah, that really gets me.  Also when Maggie says, "I think you're ready to try again."  Even though I know she's talking sex the way the trailer is done it's more about him as a person trying to come to terms with his life.  Anyway, I'm going nuts waiting for this film to come out.  AGGGG.

Vicky, A Little Like Drowning is a radio play written  by Anthony Minghella in which Alan plays a man whose origins are in the south of Italy. He speaks english with a strong italian accent (so funny because mixed with a light british accent).

In some scenes he speaks italian, he sings italian opera, he swears in a really lovely way.

Yes, it's odd for me to hear him say those lines because he does it without losing the charm he has when he reads a Shakespeare sonnet (this is what I think). By the way I think he does a great job in both italian and french.

You can find ALLD in this site, in the audio page if I'm not wrong.

I'm sure you will enjoy it, it's a really good play.

Gee, Hikity - I've never thought about throwing my video tapes in the loo!  The worst and most common problem I've had is that the takeup motor goes bad and they wad up in the machine. That will ruin them! However, the reason I said it is becoming obsolete is because I see fewer and fewer new movies ever released on VHS. It will be some time that we all have our old tapes, but new ones seem to be getting more scarce around here. I like mine for recording from tv, too.

I hope all is well with Nahima  - she hasn't made an appearance since last week. That darned real life, as Claudia said.

Bronte-- GREAT find there! Quite interesting indeed. He turns his nose up at White Nights? He read for that? Luckily his buddy Helen Mirian didn't. Was he going to try to be Barishnakov?? Greggory Hines? COULD he? Okay, it was an 80s movie with a very 80s feel, but it had some merit to it! And some great actors. Wonder if this is one of those things that NOW AR can go back and look at it and think it wasn't such a great thing to toss out in print to live forever and be dredged up every now and then.

Re: DVD Regions and colours

Jan, no, not true, any colour "problems" have nothing to do with the different regions. You only need a regional-free DVDplayer (and here meanwhile every recorder is reg-free, esp the cheap ones - I have no problems at all). Regarding videos, however, you need a video recorder which is NTSC compatible (all new ones should be here) or the other way round PAL for you (SECAM is the French variation). This has to do with different frequencies. Plus you need a TV which is NTSC/PAL compatible!

I've seen a couple of Cut Aboves in the UK too. There is something about hairdresser's shops that bring out the worst puns in their owners. Curl Up & Dye is another favourite along with Hair T.oday

BTW there is a new post on IMDb Snowcake page that states:

Quote:
Further to Marc Evan's plans to release Autumn/Winter 2006 I've just spoken with the distribution company who say it will be released in October 2006 in the UK.

There is a Cut Above hairdresser in the U.S., too. I saw a mention of it on tv the other day - unrelated to Blow Dry or Alan R.

Separate from the regional coding on DVD's is the color format (also used for VHS tapes): NTSC for the U.S. and PAL for elsewhere. I've read on the Internet that even if you have a region-free DVD player, the color coding must be the same for you to be able to see it (or see it properly). True??? My friend in Europe has sent me DVDs (that she made) that play on her player and they also work on mine - I don't know what the color coding is on them. Maybe there are DVD players that handle both color formats without adjustment??? Different formats and regions drive me nuts!

Alanfan: Did you also get the short "Words to live by/Mantra" interview that INTJ posted? Interesting answers he gave!

Shampoo with Warren Beatty comes to mind.....I thought that was actually a pretty good film of its' genre.
There's not enough of Alan in Blow Dry and I felt his role was somewhat under developed... Bill Nighy was hilarious in it...now perhaps if Alan had been wearing the hair of the Sherriff of Nottingham, he might have had more to work on !!!

I have a friend who is mad about Phil she loved it. I tried to save it to my computer and when I went to listen to it I found I had saved a music file. I don't know what I did but I sent her that and she's in heaven and thanks who ever it was that posted it and I can't remember now, but thank you.

Frieda: If you have a "normal" DVD player bought in Germany or Europe you're only able to play Regional Code 2 DVDs (Normally the number is in a signet with a globe). More information about the different codes you'll find here http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-Video#Regionalcode

DVDs from the US and Canada are RC 1. So if you don't have a multi-region player you're not able to play them.

You'll have to make your DVD player region free. It is possible to set your player code free with a hack. There are several sites that provide them. Just google with "DVD" and "region/code free" and you'll find a lot of them. e. g. http://www.digitalvd.de/codefree.php4http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

I recall that Claudia once mentioned a site where I found the hack for my DVD player.

Cheap DVD player are sometimes identical to brand players, so look and try.

And now for something complete different this morning

Sorry to take so long to reply from a few days ago. It was Hubbys birthday last Saturday and I had a concert to perform in as well, then we had friends round etc. etc.

Anyway o/t : HIKITY : you asked me about my percussion pupils: I teach children from the age of 8 - 18 to play the drum kit, snare drum, timpani or xylophone or any other percussion instruments and I visit different schools. I have done this job for 24 years ( not all in the same place ! ). Most of the children want to smack the living daylights out of the drum kit!

BLUEBEATBABE: My daughter wasn't able to scan the Alan photo that I bought at the National Portrait Gallery, so we have e-mailed it to Claudia instead to post for us when she has the time.

Regarding TVG, here in the US, many cities have a special organization within the city for promoting filming within their area.  Might the cities in France have such an office that you could contact for information?  For example, here in Pittsburgh, it is the Pittsburgh Film Institute, where, by the way, you can find a little information about Dogma, which was filmed here.

"You've gotta dance till the sun comes up if you ain't got no place to sleep."

and

"I like, uh, the title of a Fassbinder film, which one can live by, which is 'Fear Eats the Soul.'" (Yeah, I had to include the "uh"--too cute!)

(BTW, a clever film!  I watched it as part of a film group in college.  He's an interesting director.)

Go down about a bit more than halfway and click on Take 5 (on the left side of the screen). It's a video of Tribeca participants answering a question about "words to live by." The film is 8:15 long and AR appears at about 5:55 and again at about 6:38. It's Flash so I didn't know how to save it.

I recall a posting last year from someone who said that she knew from an elderly gentleman who knew Rima, or Alan, I don't recall, but who said that she did not live with him. I contacted the poster later and she mentioned to me that Rima had moved in at some point, then had moved out again. I wonder if now that she is no longer a councilor, whether she will move back in? Although, and this is just speculation on my part, the reasons why she moved out might still be there. Of course, I suppose it's not our business...

O/T Warning to all Ebayers!

I received a very convincing email yesterday purporting to be from ebaywith the address support@ebay.reply-message etc etc. here is the first part:
Quote:
Dear (my email address)
When people break our policies, violate consumer trust and the law of the land, eBay and PayPal work with law enforcement throughout the world to apprehend and prosecute fraudsters. Our diligence in this area is evidenced by the arrests that are made and the trust that is built both within the community and with law enforcement. Most importantly, we do this without compromising our commitment to our member's privacy. eBay, Inc., has established a Fraud Investigations Team (FIT) to promote safe use of our platforms, and to collaborate with law enforcement throughout the world to enforce policies, prosecute fraudsters and help keep our Community safe.

Valued eBay Member,

We are contacting you to remind you that on 08 JUN 2006 we identified some unusual activity in your account coming from a foreign IP address :capitol.guatemala-203-pc.in ( IP address located in India ) . We have been notified that a card associated with your account has been reported as lost or stolen and involved in fraudulent transactions, or that there were additional problems with your card.

According to our site policy you will have to confirm that you are the real owner of the eBay account by completing the following form or else your account will be marked as fraudulent , and will remain open for investigation. You will pay for the fees wich will result from the financial transactions between eBay and FIT ( Fraud Investigations Team ) .

The letter then contained a link that I didn't click on. The email had all the ebay logos etc but something didn't feel quite right. There were a couple of grammatical errors in the small print and I certainly hadn't lost or reported a card missing. Also they didn't address the letter to eithr of my two ebay names just my email.

I forwarded the email on to spoof@ebay.com for comment and lo and behold they told me it wasn't from them!!
They said that all emails they sent to people show up in messages on the Myebay section of your personal account and sure enough neither of my accounts had a copy of the letter. apparently these people hope to get your person details from your reply and then doubtless rob you blind so TAKE CARE!!!

Vote for Rickman/Sheriff of Nottingham!

Hi everyone, I need your help. Swedish "Channel 4" wants to know who's the best movie psycho of all-time, and Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham is among the finalists. Unfortunately he's not in the lead which is a real shame, but I thought that you guys could help him out by voting for him.  Just click on the link below (or copy it) and look for "Sheriffen av Nottingham" in the poll.

Go to Amazon.com and read the customer reviews of that dreadful AR book. It's a riot! Everyone is just shaking their heads and saying "I'm REEEAAALLLYYY sorry Alan." I read on one site where people wrote about their encounters that one woman tried to get it signed and he said he would not sign "that dreadful book!" Well she was mortified and was like, "I'll throw it away..I'm so sorry..." But he was very nice and said he'd sign anything else. I'm guessing gave her a wonderful smile and said it was all full of lies.

Yeah, AR, naked on TV....we wish. No, he was discussing being in a California earthquake on Conan and of course it happened at 4am when he was in bed and he was talking about trying to find his underwear so he could leave the room. Cute interview.

Downloaded the bit of Closet Land. Wow...how wrong is it to be aroused by that? I'd love to get it on DVD, but I haven't seen a copy of it cheap enough yet. I HATE to be cheap, but I just don't want to pay $20+ with added shipping for something off of Ebay. However I did get Dark Harbour and January Man pretty cheap and are awaiting their arrival and I'm watching another DVD to see if it goes for a reasonable price.

Until then, I'm wearing out my downloads.

When will you move to your friend?

Searching a little on Rima led me somehow to a book which I noticed before: Maureen Paton: "Alan Rickman"

Somewhere I read that he once didn't want to sign that book because "it's rubbish" and I was wondering why.

NOW I can ask you  : Why doesn't he like it? Because there are so much lies in it - or so much truth?

Someone mentioned the more mature AR looking better. I must agree. In his younger pictures (and he must be 30s to early 40s in these) he looks a bit gawky and gangly. There are some men who just look better and better as they age. George Clooney is another one. Lucky @#$!! While I'm trying to cover grey hair, pluck stay hairs and cover cellulite.

Good morning everyone and TGIF!!!!

I may be mistaken but I believe the dancing pic   was taken at a party right after the completion of Snow Cake filming.  At least that's what I have the pic tagged as.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

CatsPlay, It seems like a long time since I saw Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson but if I remember correctly, there are two instances of AR's voice between the two discs.  One that made it in the film and the other in the deleted scenes.  I'll have to get my copy out this weekend and check for you.

Chalebh, thank you for posting the magazine article!

BTW, who would kick him out of the bed????

I'm not a football fan so I'm not up on the World Cup but as much as I love you all and the countries you represent, I hope you'll understand that I have to stick by my beloved England.  Please don't be mad at me.

Hikity: I don't know if the magazine is the identical but the German one was published by DeAgostini so it's likely that it might be the same in French. Because some girl in another newsgroup who's French bought a magazine which turned out to be more or less the same.

By now the Römerberg is completely taken over by English football fans.  The Sun and another company have send two double decker buses and you can be photographed with two pretty and well endowed girls (I wouldn't mind two well endowed men but as it is I skipped the photo). They still have 26 hours until to first match, they'll be pissed when the match starts.

To make it Alan related: Does anybody know if he likes football?

"Den würde ich nicht von der Bettkante stossen!".

Lets see, "the something I don't of the something something". Am I close?

I suppose at least we are not ridiculous middle age women who are fawning all over young 20-something stars. Like if WE were stalking around the Justin Timberlake sites....that would be sad. My boyfriend, who is 46, says his "guilty pleasure" fandom is Jennifer Love-Hewitt. He says when he is old enough to be their father he knows it's pathetic.

Since I have a thing for older men anyway, it feels less icky. No less pathetic, but less icky.

Reedpipe & Andi, I thought about this same photo but the 'drink in hand' lost me.  Must be this one, if you notice his left hand looks like 'holding' something. That detail probably gave the wrong impression to the girl from the IMDb forums.

Cyntilla, I KNOW what you mean!!
At first sight, I thought "Am I seeing what I think or it's only my feverish imagination?"

Hikity, where did you find my picture??!!
Hmm.. no, thinking it better, that's not me. I rarely have success with my searches. It will be lovely to meet you all!

Thanks anyway for the hint!

To those who said thanks for the BBC website, you're welcome.

If I remember correctly, the picture of him dancing to Outkast's 'Hey Ya!' was stealthily taken after the New York premier of Prisoner of Azkaban. I don't have it handy, but don't think he's holding a drink, although he does look like the proverbial embarrassing dancing uncle.

Hi everyone ! Sorry to be absent for a while ! I have spent the half term break writing the annual school reports for my percussion pupils. Yippee I've finished !!

Michelle : Thanks very much for the "Blow Dry " link, incidentally one of my favourite AR films. I'd not heard that interview before. I don't how you all find this stuff but I'm very grateful !

Claudia : You have answered a question that I've always been interested in, namely that of why Alan appeared in the Texas " In Demand " video. It seemed such a departure for him and quite out of context. The interview with Sharleen Spitteri   was very interesting. I am ALWAYS so jealous of her when I watch that video ; lucky thing, I wouldn't have minded being a passenger in THAT car !

Bluebeatbabe : I have received your e-mail, thanks very much . I will reply tomorrow ( promise ).

Finally just to say that my eldest daughter ( she's 12 going on 16 ! ) and I had a " girlie " day out in London last Thursday and I dragged her into the National Portrait Gallery to view a certain portrait or is it more of a caractiture ?. Anyway I already knew what to expect, thanks to this wonderful GB, but my daughter was howling with laughter and had to keep revisiting said pic so that she could have another giggle. Huh ! She said the pic was just like him, but I disagree and think he looks rather haggard. What do others think ? Also in the shop I bought a nice b&w photo which my daughter will scan and post tomorrow. She has her uses !! ( Joke btw) . Actually we has a great day out in London, although she was disappointed that the Daniel Radcliffe portrait was not yet on display.

        SORRY FOR OVERLONG POST !

LOL...just thinking...if it had really been me, the director would have had to do about 80 takes because he'd have to stop and say to me "HEY, we are NOT doing PORN here! Don't make me get the hose!" Poor AR, running off to check his contract for a sexual harassment clause. Ha ha....kinda sad, actually....me, that is.

Glad you like my name...I've had it for years. HATE it when I try to join a board or group and someone else *GASP* already has it!

Someone called cue_chik mentioned that she saw a pic of OOoA dancing with a drink in his hand with a caption said it was to The Blackeyed Pea's : Hey Ya!....

Did anyone ever heard or know anything about this?

Welcome to our group SnoKat!  Love your name!  I hope you will stay with us and have a good time!  We are a great group.  Its been a wee bit on the quiet side but there just hasn't been much AR stuff going on lately.  But when he gets on the move....we have a blast!

In Demand was a fairly huge British hit.  Unfortunately, I don't ever remember hearing it here in the US....and what a disgrace too!  As for how AR got involved with the video.  Here's the story:  The Heat Interview:  Sharleen Spiteri

Yeah, but now you get to tango on petrol station forecourts with Alan Rickman in your videos.
He’s such a good dancer.

How did you hook up with him?
I was chatting away to Michael Kamen, the string arranger who did Net Aid with us, and he said: "My friend loves you. And I said, "Ooh, who's your friend? " And he replied, "Alan Rickman. " And I think he’s wicked, fantastic. I love him. Later, when I was talking to [video director] Vaughan about our new single In Demand, we thought, we need to find someone who you'd believe would just throw me into the tango. And I thought: "Alan Rickman. That's it."

He was only too happy to comply?
I called him up and left a message and he phoned me back at about nine in the morning, and Ashley [Heath, style guru and Sharleen’s boyfriend] answered. He comes running into the bedroom going, "Shar! Its Alan Rickman on the phone!" So I pick up the phone, and he goes, "Helloooo. " He talks sooo like that. And I did that thing where you pretend you've been up for hours.

Was it a sexy video to make?
Really sexy. He throws you about and you're like, "Take me." But my mum thought it was strange, seeing me with an older man.

I have really been having a great time with these downloads. I've been an AR fan since at least Sense & Sensibility, but with a lot of time on my hands to watch a lot of movies, my desire has been ignited to a raging bonfire!

One thing about being in America is a lot of his stuff is hard to find or impossible to find. The easy stuff is Die Hard, Quigley Down Under, Sens & Sen., Love Actually, Galaxy Quest, etc. I've finally broken down and ordered January Man and Dark Harbour. So these downloads have been absolute candy for the soul! So far I watched the "In Demand" video. I haven't kept up with current music since about the mid 90s, so I don't know, but was this ever a popular song?? Was it mostly a British hit? How did this person/group get HIM to do a video? And Good Lord, the whole thing spent in the back of a car cuddling, being petted on and loved on by him....That woman HAD to be a major fan to think that up. Also just watched the Conan interview. "Ah-ha...he sleeps in the buff," I pick up on.

Anyway, thanks so much for this site of amazing tid bits, oh ye internet elves of goodness. I'll be back. In fact I'm just going to go camp out in THAT corner over there and stay a while!

Could it be possible that we have to suffer another 'John Gissing'? Aarggh!
I'm happy to have helped you with something! Yeah, it was very odd to hear all that talk about gorillas, I mean, it was interesting but so out of time and without a clear purpose. I supposed at one moment that SW will ask for donations or some kind of help for the area/environment where those animals are living but no, to my best knowledge, she did not do such petition. Another case for the X-files...

Michelle, thanks a lot for the 'rattlebag' link! I love to hear it!
Sorry for the annoyance, but does anybody know how to grab that audio file?
Pretties... please? *

You're welcome Miriam! I'm glad the link worked for you just fine, yes it is easier and nicer to have it already downloaded than to wait forever to watch it online.

Ooh, thanks Hikity for explaining me the right meaning of 'Nur im kino' and about the holiday!
Besides, you're right, it would be very difficult to win a football game if playing it like AR did in AABA but in that case I won't mind a single bit. He did look wonderful there!! I enjoyed everything; pants, the Yay! and funny running included. Who'll care about the game??!!

Belated happy birthday, Natasxxx! Hope you did enjoy your special day fully!

Good luck with your goal, Elaine!

Hi Ali-Pat,

Thanks for the info -- sorry to make you work hard!  One more question -- the photo that for some reason I thought was from a 'making of' book was the one of AR and Sigourney, when she is exposing her black bra and they are laughing.  I swear I saw it somewhere in the context of a making of book.  Maybe I'm crazy.  I will keep looking!

Also, if anyone is interested, I have a post on my LJ today which was actually inspired by some information I found on Ali-Pat's site.  It is a look inside the Ennis House, which is the Frank Llyod Wright house in Los Angeles where Murder Obliquely was filmed.  I had not known this but became aware of it via Ali-Pat's site.   I've dug up a lot of photographs and screencaped Murder Obliquely from the 'architectural' point of view.  I even found a really cool Virtual Reality Quicktime tour of the inside and outside of the house.

Hi CatsPlay--you are really making me work hard for a person just back from vacation!

There is not much about Alan in ther Dogma chapter of An Askew View--just a mention of how difficult it was for him to wear the 60-pound wing rig.  There is a lot of discussion of special effects and the controversy the film caused.  Alan's character, Metatron, is discussed, also.

The novelizations of Galaxy Quest are not graphic novels--they are just paperback treatments of the screenplay in novel form.  One is written at a lower reading level and is considered a "junior novelization" (intended for children or young adults).  I am not aware of a "making of" book about GQ, but it would not surprise me to learn that there is one--the marketing and merchandizing of that film was awesome.  There is a bit about the making of the film on the DVD, and there is that supremely silly (and very entertaining) GQ Anniversary spoof, which you can find on Claudia's film page.

Have a great week, everybody!    I'm off to see to my yard.

Snow Cake review from the Seattle International Film Festival.  At least it got a B.  Here's the paragraph.....

SNOW CAKE (Canada/United Kingdom): An under layer of grief and melancholy is offset by eccentricity and an intrinsic belief in the human need to connect despite the propensity to make mistakes in Welsh director Marc Evans' offbeat movie. A middle-age man, Alex Hughes, gives a lift to a spirited young stranger named Vivienne (channeling Ally Sheedy in "The Breakfast Club"), who is on her way home to see her mother. An accident ensues in the winter ice and it revives issues for Alex and unites him with a small town that is, as one woman states, "a judgmental town this, the emphasis being on mental." Three very intelligent actors -- Alan Rickman, Carrie-Anne Moss and Sigourney Weaver as the girl's autistic, obsessive-compulsive mother -- elevate what could have been mawkishness into something better than the script's idiosyncrasies. (P.N.) Grade: B

Plays today at 9:15 p.m., Neptune

Caution...I feel a temper tantrum coming on!  My patience is running out....I want to see this film!

Have a wonderful day, Natasxxx!  I hope all your birthday wishes come true.

Andi hit a jackpot list!!!  Thank you sooo much!  More AR stuff to hunt down!  LOL

Over the weekend, I worked on capturing the Perfume trailer, the Snow Cake interview, and Babitsky's War but I had problems and ran out of time to work with it.  I'll keep trying and as soon as I complete them, I'll post them above.

Many thanks to RickiNicki for the Perfume trailer.  It is lovely to hear AR's voice.  Did anyone notice how Dustin Hoffman doesn't sound at all like himself????

Miriam, thanks for the CBS interview.  I agree, he did look a bit tired but it was a pleasant surprise to watch.

CatsPlay, thanks for the Babitsky's War link.  I was glued to the TV the first time I watched it.  I remember shortly after I saw the documentary, the heart breaking tragedy in Beslan happened and ever since then, I've been a Russian news junkie.

Nahima, thanks for updating us on The View from yesterday.  I did record it but your update saves me the time of going throught the tape.  I am shocked (and sorely disappointed) that there was no mention of Snow Cake.  And why in the world would they bring up the old gorilla movie????

Laura, I'm sooooo sorry about your dog and Miem, I hope your cat is doing better.  I don't know what I would do without my cat and dog.

Elaine is just Ł10 short of her Race For Life goal!!!  Way to go, Elaine!

"Nur im Kino" means "only in cinemas" but please don't ask me WHY they always mention that, cz those films are "only in cinemas" first anyway...

I've just noticed your  "copy and paste story" on the discussion board - thanks again

Well, Sigourney Weaver was charming in "The View" but unfortunately she only talked about 'Gorillas in the mist' and a visit she made after almost 20 years to their country (Rwuanda?). Nothing at all about 'Snow Cake' or our favorite british homo-sapiens.

Regarding the english version of 'Perfume' movie trailer, I couldn't see it.
Using IE I got what Claudia described, the languages option, etc. but in spite I chose the small one, the video takes forever to be seen. It's like Jan said, you can see only a split of a second and then have to wait too much to get another split. I couldn't stand such a torture.

So, I join my voice with Marlina's... if anybody was able to capture the trailer... please, would you share it with these pour souls? raying:

Camerata, that's what many persons have told me (about the Mozilla Firefox browser). However, I fear that the main trouble is my stupid-turtle-dial-up connection. Thanks anyway for the hint!

Oh I see Hikity! 'Nur Im Kino' is something like 'Coming Soon' or 'To be seen on', thanks for the german lesson! I'm going to 'copy & paste' the smilies codes in the other board, so you can use them if while your pc mistery problem is solved.
Btw,what is a Whitsuntide?

I'm sorry for the loss of your pet, Laura. I've been through that situation myself and know how sad it is. Cherish the good memories, time will heal your sorrow.

Miem, how is your kitty? Hope everything is fine.

Wishing a nice Monday for everyone, see you!

Sorry to hear about Laura's dog and hope Miem's kitty is well soon.  It's so hard to lose pets.  I have a friend who lost a standard poodle recently due to gastric torsion.  I have a standard poodle too, so it really scares me to think of it.  My daughter has a hamster and of course they only live a year or so, so I know we'll be dealing with devastation a lot faster than we'd like.  I used to keep pet rats but when my babies were born I didn't feel I could give them the attention they needed.  Now that my kids are older, though, we decided it would be okay to get a hamster for my daughter.  I still would prefer a rat.  They're more social.  Rats supposedly can live up to 3 years but I've never had one live that long.  Ron Weasley's rat Scabbers was OBVIOUSLY something DIFFERENT since it was much older than that.  Anyway...I digress.  Pets are like family members and so losing one can be very traumatic.

I'm not sure if anyone here has seen this. I scrolled down and looked to see if it was already posted. Anyway, it's a cute little interview clips with AR and some other Snow Cake folks talking about Snow Cake. AR looks tired, hair has had his fingers run through it a few too many times, rumpled jacket. He needs someone to take him by the hand and say, "come on, sweetie, time to go to sleep". Oh and is that a stifled burp? Maybe it's a hiccup. Reminds me of what he said about enjoying LA because he can just be the klutz he is and nobody minds. We love him just as he is. LOL.

Nahima: I managed to see the Perfume trailer (sort of) but with my non-DSL, it took an hour of 1-second bits between 2-3 minute downloads to get most of it and then it just quit trying anymore. That music is haunting! And scary. Thanks for the link, RickiNicki, it's nice to hear AR's own voice in it.

What the heck is going on with Dustin Hoffman's VOICE, Sue? It hardly even sounds like him to me. Maybe because of the accent.

Nahima, once the page completely loads, it should give you a choice in languages right in the middle of the screen in the midst of all that red hair.  After you click on the desired language, the screen will start filling up with the name of the film, the actors names at the top and then to the right, you can click to see the trailer.  Its a Flash site so you may need to go to Macromedia and update your player

This is OT but its a worthy cause and I know how we Rickmaniacs love a good worthy cause.  Our friend Elaine has agreed to "Race for Life" to raise money for cancer research.  I asked her if I could post this and she was afraid that people might feel pressure so.....Please do not feel at all pressured to sponser her.  I just wanted to post this just in case there were some of us out there that can contribute.

Hey, I found this! Come on pal, I can understand your mild interest in HP but you can't deny you're a Snape fan 'undercover'. Here is the evidence!

(Hope you don't mind, I'm still joking!!!)

Ellen, I followed your hint about the Google search and found it too.
I was a little confused with the term but now I agree with you, Diana's death and the world's reaction after was something that not even her fellow country people would have expected.  again!

Camerata, what a nice surprise! I'm happy for you!

Hikity, as Jan said, try using the "copy & paste" thing or type the code.
It appears in he first column 'What to type' before the meaning and the actual smiley.
Sometimes I have the same trouble, only God knows why.

That is Teh Question,
Chalebh. I've found that most of the time it is necessary to know the whole context of what it is said to get its true meaning.  Thanks for the link!
This one is funny (or at least, I think so.):
"

and have a nice weekend, AR friends!

Greetings to all, friends in AR!

Laura, I had that same question. It's odd they put a date of start filming without confirming first the whole cast. Probably they would begin to do more production things than actually filming on that date but still it's odd.

Happy Birthday, sonoma!

Ellen, thanks for the AR's quote* you share with us, I haven't heard that one before.
Would it be too much bother if I ask you where did yo
u hear, read or get it?
Quote:
*"The embrace of the world for this woman, who will now remain eternally youthful, is something that I think was not expected from most of us. Obviously, people from around the world have lived their lives through her. But I don't think a film personage should really comment on an event such as this. It is beyond our domain.''

When it says "a film personage" it is referred to AR or to someone else?
Is AR talking about himself in such "description" or in g
eneral or what?
Thanks in advance!

Happiest of all birthdays, sonoma!!!  I hope your day is wonderful in every way!  Ali-Pat is on the road at the moment but she asked me last night to wish you a happy birthday from her as well.

Ali-Pat and her special fellow has been on a Georgia road trip this week and they made a special visit here so Ali-Pat and I could meet.  We've had a great time eating, drinking, and talking about all our friends here and AR.  Last night we talked a lot about Villa Golitsyn and Perfume (and Snape) over Barbeque and "made from scratch" bannana pudding for desert!  Have a safe trip home, Ali-Pat!

I do hope VG with AR and KST does come to fruition.  I wonder if KST had committed to the project yet.  Hmmm, I'll need to do a search of some of her sites to see if there's any news.

Great video, Dany!  Thanks for sharing.

Email is very difficult for me at the moment.  Please be patient with me.  Sabine and AFNH, expect a call this Saturday.
