Dear Hikity and Peek,

A note of thanks for the wonderful [and exciting!!!} recap of your attending AR's performance in Manchester last night.  I just can't imagine how you managed to sit still in your seats, while he was doing "his thing" on stage.  I would've been falling over the back of my chair, passing out in sheer ecstacy in squee-motion, -- and I am NOT one to squee!!!!

I'm so happy you had such a fantastic time in Manchester, and again, thank you for sharing it all with us!

Sincerely,
tea and crumpets / USA

Dear Sue,

A heartfelt THANK YOU for the magnificent photos and for taking us along with you to Manchester, as you experienced such an unforgettable AR experience.

It must've been a dream come true, and thanks to you, we can all relish the excitement of the evening.

I also want to say congrats to Alan, for a successful performance. I'm sure he's relieved it's over, and that everything went smoothly!

A world of thanks,

Thank you INTJ for the lovely pictures. I really like them very much. Especially the first one. A very concentrated Alan (and very serious, too) and a HARP in the background. I play harp (or at least I try to, I have only played for six and a half year) myself, so I was thrilled to see this. And of course, Alan in front.
So thanks again.

Those pix aren't from last night's performance, they must be rehearsal pix.
Well I'm afraid I can't match Hikity's and Peek's experience but I have just had my own OMG!WTF! moment!!
I got off the train from Manchester at Euston Station about 3.20 pm and headed off to find the taxi rank so I could get to Waterloo as I didn't fancy travelling by Tube with the previous day's events fresh in my mind.

The taxi rank is downstairs in the Underground car park. As I got to the top of the stairs I noticed a small lady and tall man descending in front of me carrying their luggage.  Yep! Guess who!?! I heard the sonorous tones and knew it was him.

At the bottom of the stairs you take a right and come out at the taxis. There was absolutely nobody else about and two taxis coming in as we walked along the taxi rank queuing rail. They turned in front of me back along the other side of the rail so he walked straight past me. Year's of practice of avoiding people meant he made no eye contact so I took a deep breath and called out "Thank you for a wonderful concert last night Mr.Rickman!" I was behind him by then so he turned around and gave me one of those piercing looks and said "Sorry?" So I repeated some babble about "I was at last night's concert and it was wonderful etc etc." He finally cottoned on and his face relaxed and he smiled and said "Thank you" and seemed to intimate that he agreed that it had been wonderful!

They then got into their taxi and drove off and I was left with a silly big grin on my face which I had to explain to my taxi driver who had pulled alongside me and was waiting to hear where I wanted to go. I got in and explained it and he said "Well I hope they aren't going to Waterloo or they'll think they are being followed!" Turned out the cabby came from my old home town in the suburbs so we had a lovely chat all the way back to Waterloo!

Hiya, this was definitely the BEST evening we have had with Alan so far. It was just incredible. He was at his best, narrator and actor, the performance was great, afterwards he came out for pics and autographs, he was smiling all the time, then Peek and I went into the Pavillon where he was, too by the way (mmore than 2 hours) and we discussed world politics with S Rushdie (I mean Peek and me) while the OooA was patiently waiting next to us, smiling, in order to congratulate him for his knighthood. Afterwards Peek and I went with a lovely couple to a nightclub and danced until 3 :30 in the morning. We have wonderful photos which we are going to post when Peek is back home. Huge hug to Claudia!!!
Ohhhh, btw, he looked gorgeous, we had seats 2 metres from him (90 minutes....lol)
That's it for todaz / life from Manchester! We are invited tonight for the preview of The Pianist / looking forward to it. We have met incredible people here  and I don't mind the weather at all / anyway Manchester is famous for its rain, you know....

I was not able for more, because when I heard yesterday that he was in the first interview I was too shocked and sat with an open mouth at my computer, before I realised "You have a recorder, go on"

But I´m also happy, if there is anytime the full interview. But for now... enjoy this little one. And please be nice, it´s not the best quality.

Here's what I can remember of the NA interview; She starts off by introducing him,of course and begins talking about tGBHF where AR says that he is very happy to be involved in it, and that it is very different from anything else.NA asks him if he finds it easier in that he does not have to memorize any lines, but just read the narrative, he replies yes in that sense it is easier but there is still the chance that he will screw it up.
She goes on to say that he seems to have to do other things besides just acting and he says that there is lots he'd like to do but he  has to try and fit it all in his schedule and he mentions directing tWG and recently finishing a big project,MNiRC.He says that he was pleased that it was able to be done in the U.S.
He goes on to talk a bit about his next project, Napa, to be filmed in California, and explains that it is about a competetion between French and Californian wines. To the horror of the French, the Californian wines come out on top....
Then they ask the HP stuff, I already mentioned and the reaction AR had to being included on the top 100 lists.....
Now there are a lot of details I can't remember so at least I won't completely spoil it for everyone..

I posted this over there, will let you know what comes of it:

Hello Again,

I have been appointed the head 'beggar' from a large group of Alan Rickman fans.  Not only are we in great need of being able to re-listen to the Phil Woods show with the Alan Rickman interview, but we also understand that there was a separate, longer Alan Rickman interview contained in Natalie Anglesey's - The Show Show, 8-10 from 28 June, 2007.

We would be forever grateful and are lining up a large queue of our firstborn children that we will gladly give you if you could be so kind as to make these recordings available for us to listen to.
Awaiting and hoping for your positive response!

Seriously, we have to pressurize them somehow into archieving "the show show" with Natalie Anglesey... It's probably best to tell them we want the whole thing on there, or they'll cut off beginnings and ends, and besides, they'll probably won't cut up the show but if we tell them we want it all... CATS?? feel tempted to handle it?? hehehehe (You always manage such things so well.... ;O) )

name... I remember hearing them say that earlier, I think that when they said Alan was holding the microphone was when the sound went very bad, so I thought he must not be holding the microphone in the right place.
Also in the first interview I heard, Natalie asked him if he found the HP films fun to do, he replied that they were great fun, just like going back to school....so can we assume that he enjoyed his school years..??

Yes, it's highly embarrassing to admit, - I too own a copy of THAT book.  Well, at least we can now better understand just why he does not endorse it, and how wonderful that he finally set the record straight about his supposed speech impediment.  Imagine, all those articles that have commented on the same, and all these years that he has never addressed the subject until this short and impromptu interview. Amazing!!!!

Thanks to everyone here for letting us know to tune in to Phil Woods show. I'm a NY'er and I had literally just seen the post in time to make a mad dash for my little cassette recorder and try to tape it for everyone.   Thank you Claudia for offering to upload the recording you captured in time. It was nice to hear this spot, as short as it was.

Well, it looks as though Mr. Rickman's "speech impediment", is fiction, thanks to "THAT book", which as we all know, he does not endorse.

It was nice to hear him speak with such passion regarding the importance of theater students taking the time to really study their craft, before they go anywhere near a sound-stage or theater.

I was able to tape the spot on my little cassette recorder, but am not sure how to make it up-loadable. If anyone can guide me on the same, I will be happy to share the interview.

Sincerely,

Hey yall!  Long time no see but I see sue and Ali-Pat are taking really good care of you.  A huge "ta" to both of you from Sabine and myself!

CatsPlay, I will be getting off a little early today so I will try to capture the radio interview.  But as always...if anyone else will be doing it...post as soon as you can.  This isn't a race or competition...just a bunch of thirsty Alan Rickman fans ready to hear his voice!

Hikity and Peek!!!!  Thanks for all the sightings!  I love to read them!  And we can't wait to read you reports from tonight!

I noticed a while back that its been confirmed that AR will be doing an event to benefit leukemia patients.  This one really tugs at my heart strings.  My son (who is a very healthy 25 year old now) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia when he was not quite 3 years old.  We were VERY blessed in that he came through 3 years of chemo just fine and he was declared "cured" in 1988.  So AR doing this benefit is very touching for me.  Gosh darn it....I sure wish I could get over there in October!  Missing this event will be as sad for me as when he did the TMD Q&A with Juliet Stevenson at the National a couple years back.

Welcome to all our newbies!  The more the merrier to our little piece of AR online!

Thanks to everyone for the pics and comments AND to the young lady that posted the images from Georgia!!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!  My goodness when I read the post that he would be in Georgia...I about died but then I found it was the country Georgia instead of my state!  LOL

More about that project:

Kemp's libretto will be performed by Alan Rickman, as the narrator Rai, and by two singers, mezzo Loré Lixenberg and baritone James McOran-Campbell, playing the doomed lovers Vina and Ormus. They will be static, while their filmed alter egos appear on a screen behind the orchestra.

So will this crazily complex, coming-together-at-the-last-minute enterprise work? Kemp is eager to find out. "I love these collaborative things," he says. "I don't know of a piece that tries to tell a dramatic story as this does, using singers, screen and an orchestra." Not to mention a narrator and a trio playing semi-improvised rock music. "I'm looking forward to seeing what it is we've made - it's exciting that we won't see it till the night. We have to trust that we've talked enough along the way."

About the Manchester International Festival:

Quote:
Ground Beneath Her Feet: Adapted from the book, the composer Victoria Borisova-Ollas has turned Salman Rushdie's epic novel of love, celebrity and tragic desire into a full-length concert piece featuring the Hallé orchestra and Alan Rickman as the narrator.

The article also says about it:

Quote:
Other offerings in a festival which promises at times to be as bizarre as it is dazzling include the Hallé Orchestra premiering an oratorio based on a Salman Rushdie novel incorporating a silent film by Mike Figgis.

Hello there,

Does anyone know something about how things will be going with "the Villa Gollitslyn"? I thought they were already filming, but apparently they are not. The film seems to be in preproduction, whatever that means. Wonder if Alan will be in London in the week of 7th till 14th of July. But probably not (pity, that is in the week that we will be visiting London, since we stay in Kent then).  I hope he is now enjoying a very well deserved time of rest until his next project. Man is not a machine, we need our rest so now and then. And Alan works so hard....

On  The Guardians 1000 Films to see before you die list:

Die Hard
(John McTiernan, 1988)
Released when action heroes were almost exclusively pumped-up supermen like Arnold and Sly, Bruce Willis provided a much-needed alternative. His John McLane was worn down and cynical rather than merely blankly sarcastic. He also took several severe beatings. Alan Rickman's consummate turn as the lead terrorist guaranteed RSC actors a fat paycheque as Hollywood villains for decades to come.

Helllloooo my lovely ladies!

Completely OT post today, however I just wanted to make you all a little jealous. I had the most delicious dream with Alan in it last night. He was in what, I assume, was supposed to be my house. There was some lady there..maybe Sigourney Weaver, it had a Snowcake feel to it. And he was slouched down and completely lounging in my oversized armchair. A little later he was laying upside-down in it with his legs hanging over the back of it. Then we were in the kitchen and next thing I knew ( right in front of the other woman) he started kissing me senseless.. *fans herself repeatedly*...I just needed to share. I need to sit down haha.

I forgot to mention that this afternoon I drove to the next city and got two Snape figures and two copies of Entertainment Weekley.  I was only going to get one of each but then I asked myself, "What would Snape do? Would he worry about looking greedy?" I didn't think so either!

To DagmAR,
I forwarded your picture to lots of friends!  It was fun to see you advertise the "Lovely Cakes"!   Anyone with a complaint that AR's Snape coat is a little snug can lay part of the blame at my door!  (Lovely cakes are, after all, somewhat fattening!)
On another topic, I want to write a letter to AR c/o Melanie Parker. Those of you who have written, did you send your letters in a regular or business envelope or did you use FedEx or DHL?  I sent a package FedEx at Christmas and it was signed for, but not by Ms.Parker, and I never heard anything back. I had also enclosed a FedEx mailer and airbill.  Now where I live I can not get "internatonal postage" stamps. Any suggestions? I'd love to get an autographed photo.

It's been mentioned for over three years now so maybe a change of name indicates some movement (or maybe not!). There seems to be no actual positive news on any upcoming Rickman film at the moment, does there? (Apart from the ubiquitous Snape!)

Hey, did anyone see on IMDB that Alan is doing a movie in pre-production called " Were Here to Help". Its "Acts of Charity" with a new name.  I know sometimes this site is not correct but is he doing this movie, anyone know. And i love the new Snape/Harry occulmency scenes. For as little as he is going to be in this movie when he is is going to be fantastic.

That could be the case Sue, but I wonder if it really isn't just something temporarily (-hopefully) wrong with the page, as the other videos on there aren't playing either... Would it be awfully rude if, say in a day's time, the page isn't working yet, if there are contact details or something to the webmaster(?) of the page somewhere, to drop a note saying "ey pip, ur page's not workin'"... hehehe... .... (- went a bit crazy with the icons I know... )
