It's great to know that, Hikity, thanks!
Take your time to rest and organize your thoughts, I'm sure you have so much to share that won't be easy to know where to start.

BTW... Who said I'm a grumpy git??? *followed by the usual string of
very well known curses*

Sorry, can't avoid to use this at the slightest hint...
I just adore it!!

I know it's late. I am back home and tried to find someone in the chatroom (hubby has been sleeping for a while but I can't....)

Now I go to bed. I don't know how to put all this into words what Dee and I experienced in London. Good grief, Alan is such a normal, decent person, just wonderful, thank God !!!!

It's good to have you back, Alfan!

Vicky have told us about your encounter and HP adventure together too.
Thanks for sharing the rest of the story! The AR's related anecdote is very nice, great you stayed on that hotel and took a look on the shooting place of some scenes of "Galaxy Quest."

I'm glad you have such a wonderful time on your vacations!

Well , I am back. ( did anyone even know i was gone for two weeks, hee hee). Anyways, I loved the new trailer and the new photo's ( well, new to me anyways) and i think the man possitivly hates wearing tight tie's around his neck, love the relaxed pictures. Snowcake is definitly going to be on my "have to see, have to buy DVD" list. I never thought i would see Alan on a trampolene but whaaalaa, there it is.

I had a great holiday and it started off with an Alan connection. Keith and I were driving through Colorado and into Utah and were suppose to stay at a place called Grand Junction but the day went by fast and we went on further to a place called Green River Utah. It was wonderful. so picturesque. It reminded me of the scenery in Galaxy Quest when they said they were filming in Utah. So on we went to a hotel ( one of many) and i saw a postcard that said Goblin Vally. So i said " oh this is Goblin Vally, i heard they filmed Galaxy Quest here" the clerk said " yah, they did and all the cast stayed here in this hotel"  I said " everyone" and she said " yes, Tim Allen, Sigourny Weaver, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell and  all the others. We then went on to the restaraunt next door and weeellll, i just had to ask if she worked while the filming went on and she said " yah, the restaraunt had to open up early so the cast ( including Alan) could have breakfast before the filming started during the hotest part of the day". She said they were all very kind, there was always alote of laughter from thier tables and were big tippers. So that was exciting in itself, the closest I will ever have to a real Alan encounter is staying in the same hotel and eating at the same restaraunt he did.......sad, isnt it.

I want to take this time to send  a special  Thank You to Vicki. She was so sweet to pick me up and drag my "dizzy ass" all over the place. I will never look at Lucius Malfoy the same way, man what a snazzy dresser, hot hot hot. The Harry Potter display at the WB studios was great, hmmm, lets see if i can add to what Vicki said. Besides Hagrid's outfit ( yes he really is that huge)  Malfoy and Weasley's outfits there was also the flying motercylce, Dobby, Hermione's petrified body ( with an actual cut that Emma had on her finger), dementor,  one of Aragog's spiders ( that was huge too), there Quidditch outfits of both Harry and Draco, there was the sorting hat ( I am a Gryffindor), there was the basalisk fang and the Tom Riddle's diary, money from Gringotts, candy from the candy store Honeydukes. There were other things too but i cant remember them all.

When we were done there we went to Whimsical Alley and i bought a t-shirt that says " Muggle"  on it and i bought Bertie Botts every flavored Jelly Beans ( and they mean every flavor, had myself a Rotten Egg one while the 12 year old boy had a vomit and grass together, eww), I also bought Dragons eggs, dementor kisses and a couple of buttons " I love Snape", and   "I studied compassion under Snape" button.  It was a grand time. Again, thanks Vicki.

But now im back to reality and back to what i missed so much, looking at new  pictures and clips of Alan. Whooo.

Good to be back.

Hikity, welcome back!
I read about your glorious deed on Dee's LJ, this part "...he spoke directly to her during his answer" deserves a whole and detailed report. Pleeeaseeeeeee!!!

He looked at you!! How did you managed to keep conscious??

Oh Jan, that was such an ordeal, a truly nightmare... but I did it at last!
My first attempt failed miserably after a long time waiting, don't know what happened but the seventy-something percent it had reached decided to leave on vacations somewhere and had to begin all over again. I saw the trailer near midnight or past it, this connection really sucks!!

Anyway, it was worth while!

Nice Sunday to everybody!

Dear Hikity, have a wonderful time!
Hope one of your questions or Dee's is selected for the Q&A thing.
I suppose that would be the best of chances, during that thingy, to get them (AR, MD, KV) to look directly or give some kind of acknowledgement to the authors of the questions. One can only hope, so I'm crossing my fingers on your behalf, ladies!

Btw, I've been lurking in Dee's journal, that woman is my hero!

Catsplay, if Dee reads her mails (she must have access to the internet then) she will have received the same mail, as it was for all of us who had bought tickets via WOS. Here is the full text and I am a bit sad about Terris last sentences...I am quite sure you are all interested in it:

Hello all

It's almost time for our Whatsonstage.com Outing to My Name Is Rachel Corrie at the West End’s Playhouse Theatre. The Outing is this coming Friday 28 April 2006 (performance starts promptly at 8.00pm).

Full details of your evening's entertainment follow. Please note **asterisked** sections, in particular about the post-show Question and Answer session with Alan Rickman and other members of the Rachel Corrie team. If you want to ask questions, you will need to send these through in advance!

************************************************** *************

YOUR HOSTS, WHEN & WHERE TO MEET

The evening will be hosted by the Whatsonstage.com team, including Caroline Ansdell, Josephine Peart, Graham Savage and myself (Terri). From 7.15pm, we’ll have a special area set up in the foyer of the Playhouse Theatre, Northumberland Avenue, London WC2N 5DN  (closest Tube: Embankment / Charing Cross).

You'll recognise us by our lovely Whatsonstage.com t-shirts and our WOS signs. If you have any problems on the day, you can call the office on 020 7907 7043 before 6.00pm. After that, you can try us on our mobiles – mine is 07754 687067, Caroline’s is 07748 603 841.

We kindly request that you collect your tickets - as well as your WOS stickers (see below) - by at least FIFTEEN MINUTES BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE BEGINS. Please don't be late. If for some unavoidable reason you are, check with the theatre staff at the box office where your tickets will be left for you in your name; however, ** LATECOMERS MAY NOT BE ADMITTED. **

On all of our Outings, your WOS sticker gains you entry into our exclusive post-show activities, in this case our Q&A session. However, if you want to wear it proudly all night, please do! Better yet, why not say hello to others wearing their stickers? One of the main benefits of our events is the opportunity to meet other like-minded theatregoers, so don’t be shy!

************************************************** *************

OUR SEATS & RUNNING TIME

Our allocation is for top-price seats in the Stalls and Dress Circle. Seats are assigned according to order of booking, bearing in mind specific (by need) requests and individual party sizes (ie, if you’ve booked more than one seat, we’ve ensured wherever possible that all your seats are together).

The estimated running time for My Name Is Rachel Corrie is 90 minutes, without an interval. It lets out at approximately 9.30pm.

************************************************** *************

OUR EXCLUSIVE POST-SHOW Q&A

We are pleased to have the following members of the My Name Is Rachel Corrie team confirmed to attend on Friday night: Alan Rickman (adaptor and director), Katharine Viner (co-adaptor), Megan Dodds (actor) and, as a bonus, Elyse Dodgson, associate director and head of international at the Royal Court, where the play premiered last year. (***As with all live events, attendance of specific individuals cannot be 100% guaranteed.)

** For this Q&A, we will not be able to take questions directly from the floor. However, you can give any questions you’d like asked to us. Please email these to me by Friday morning – terri@whatsonstage.com , marking the subject line “Rachel Corrie Q&A” – or write them down and hand them to Whatsonstage.com staff on arrival at the theatre. IF YOUR QUESTION IS READ OUT, YOU’LL WIN A FREE COPY OF THE RACHEL CORRIE PLAYTEXT!! **

After the curtain call, please remain in your seats for a moment while the rest of the house clears, then move forward to the front of the Stalls. You will need to display your WOS sticker for attendance at the post-show Q&A.

PLEASE NOTE: The use of cameras and/or recording equipment will not be permitted either during the performance or the post-show Q&A. And, on this occasion, members of the Rachel Corrie team will not be available to sign autographs.

We look forward to seeing you all on Friday. Many thanks again for your interest and for using Whatsonstage.com!

Kind regards,

Nahima, what a chore!!!! I vividly remember my three years living in Khartoum, Sudan. There was this lovely "Habub" season, the "sandstorm time" and you cannot imagine how the house looked like afterwards... (windows are not fixed to European standards, haha). My white Berber carpet dissappeared under a red-brown cover, the sand was just EVERYWHERE and didn't stop at us - in my ears, nose, mouth, hair...BUT it never rained these three years, too - it was always warm, sometimes quite hot, but no humidity, and I loved this country and its people to pieces.

Count down, ladies, tomorrow evening I am flying over to Good Old England

Oh yes Chris, every year we have to go through this tricky season.
Even though we've been absolutely lucky during the last years, the wisest choice is to be ready and on guard.

Thanks for the glue! Which dvds? In the worst scenario I'll use it on my own butt!

Emma Thompson is left-handed? That's cool!
I am too. No wonder I would have preferred AR to be... *sob*

Beth! Hope you look this, I want to ask you who Eduardo Flores is?
An actor, producer or what? Btw, thanks again for the links!

Wicked Chris, it's nice to "see" you again!
I got what you said about "vacation days", here is aproaching the hurricane season and I have to spend my summertime taking the yearly measures and cleaning the house and the sorroundings, just in case. Awful.

Rattlesnakes, Jan? You did choose the best option... Run!
I mean, that advice they gave Sam sounds too risky, what if one heard the snake too late to avoid its bite? It is not like a great advantage after all.

Hey, Beth put more links to the "new" piccies. I think she unwatermarked them!
Thanks again, Beth!

Btw, I don't know why but I used to think that AR was left-handed.
I was wrong, isn't it?

CatsPlay - Here I am, ready to serve!  I was away these past few days, we celebrated Easter last night (erm, well, we`re STILL celebrating it) and I was a bit caught up with things. You know, this vacation thing is actually WORSE than my working days! I get so disoriented and waste my time in such a royal fashion! For example, I went for a shopping spree for THREE days at a roll (When did I become Paris Hilton?!) and finished buying abssolutely NOTHING! nada. Niente. ZERO. This is most shameful of me *sobbs*. Money can` just SIT there doing nothing! they must pe spent! that`s my theory!   All I ended up with were numb feet! Indeed, what an outcome! *pathetic sigh*  I think I`m gonna dive *cough cough that word brings up memories* into a bucket of ice-cream to cheer me up!

Hey guys, the willy, ups, I meant the Willy thing`s old news by now! We`ve been musing over it, I mean THAT, ahem, in the chatroom for weeks!

Dee, knock`em down! Have a safe journey!

wiener would mean "wiener würstchen"
I didn't know that! The next time someone refers to a wiener that way, I'll have to remember it! Ok - it's not likely to happen, but I'll be prepared if it does.

Nahima: My husband and I were in Arizona one winter and we applied for jobs at a trailer park - he in maintenance and me at the desk. They were showing us around and told me to watch out for scorpions in cupboards and said to hubby: "You'll just have to watch out for the rattlesnakes - but that's no problem - you can hear 'em." Ha! Hubby's mostly deaf! That was the end of that idea. But he has relatives that live there and have rarely seen either a rattlesnake or a scorpion.

Thanks for the concern from all about the spider bite.  All seems fine.  Just a tiny but swollen and it is not hurting any more.  Embarassingly, I figured out that one of the two 'welts' that I described was actually a scar from where I had a mole removed a few years ago.  So, there was really just one welt, with the little puncture in it.

Thanks for all of the advice!  I will still watch it, of course, just in case.

Hope you're allright, CatsPlay!

Even though I've never been bitten by any kind of bug, we have here
plenty of them.
Mostly inofensive, but there are also centipedes, scorpions, spiders (don't know their trademarks, the dangerous ones are angry & haired) and bees/wasps.

The only 2 really bad spiders we have here are the brown recluse (the venom rots the flesh) and the black widow (can be fatal). They'd be unusual but not unheard of where you are CatsPlay but they both like basements. It's probably not either - just be sure you act quickly if it seems to get worse at all.

I didn't know "willi" was used in Germany, Hikity! I just knew it as British. Here it's more likely to be "wiener", "weenie", Peter (known by two of us as "Mr. Pan"), and on and on . . . oh, the names we can think up for things just to avoid calling them what they are, eh?  Funny.

Catsplay, except for these terrible camel spiders in Arabia (they eat the flesh, huhuhu, but I have never encountered one 2 years in the dessert) I have never heard about spider bites... but better take Jan's advice and see a doctor if you are not familiar with it. Hope it's gone by now.

Hikity & Dee

Watch out AR! You are their target!

I wish with all my heart that your mission ends succesfully, dear hens, with kiss included!

Thank you Jan for the "willi" explanation.
I swear have not heard that phrase before, Hikity!

Of course, it would not serve for my laughing purposes. My "macho" cousin is going to be delighted with such name, absolutely proud of it.

Chris, don't worry, I heard nothing and couldn't see you at all... as a matter of fact, I'm not here either. *naked bed scenes?* (This is not me.)

Related with "Dark Harbor" scenes, I think that the diving one is him.
I've just seen screencaptures but have read somewhere the director's commentary about it, it was as CatsPlay said. However, I have my doubts with the other scene, the "butt" one, I don't know but I have this feeling that it is not Teh Butt. It is something with the shoulders, the hair, I feel that it is another man in that one. Of course, it's just a "feeling".

Hey, this is a good question for the Q & A session!
"Mr R, would you please tell us if it was your butt what we saw in "Dark Harbor"? We trust your word but if you can give us a definitive proof, we'll be very much appreciated. Thanks."

Catsplay, careful with that bite! Use an antiseptic oinment or something alike first and pay attention to any other odd sign.
Sometimes those things provoke alergic reactions. Do you have "benadryl"? (I'm not sure it is well written)

You know, I got this other "feeling" that Snow Cake would not follow the Gissing route.
(eeer, my so-called "feelings" are as the weather pronostic, probability = 50%, like no pronostic at all.)

I do want to know more about the naked... I mean, the whole movie!
Dark_zorro, help!

CatsPlay: You had better get that checked out - especially if you have health insurance! A relative of my husband's was bitten by a brown recluse spider when she was young at Sea World and because the hospital in Greenville didn't know what to do, when they finally sent her to Pgh, they had to amputate her arm.

Not to scare you . . . that was several days to a week that they did nothing . . . but why take a chance???? It's probably just a bad bite, but . . .

OMG - I think I just got bitten by a spider or something in my basement.  I was standing there looking through the laundry basket, and as I started to walk back up the steps I felt a sharp pain in my leg, behind my knee, near the crease.

It continued to hurt (still is!) and I see two welts, each aboud 1/4 inch by 1/8 each, parallel to each other, and one of othem has a red puncture mark in the center!

WTF!!???

I saw no spider or other creature (although I have seen a few spiders recently down there).  I can't believe it is still hurting!

Should I be worried??  It doesn't seem to be swelling to gigantic proportions or anything.

Jeesh!

Oh, yes, CatsPlay, I forgot about the directors commentary - I've never watched it yet. Gotta do that! I was pretty sure they were both him and certainly if he's willing to do a full frontal, even from that distance, he would do a rear shot . . . .

I understand what you're saying about knowing about it and knowing you missed it. The reviews didn't seem all that great at Berlin, but not terrible, either.

As per the director's commentary on DH, that was AR who did the dive scene.  The director spoke about AR doing it during the commentary - saying how horribly cold the water was and that they had to wrap him immediately in warm towels each time he came out.  I'd have to go back and listen to see if he comments during the 'butt' scene, but for that reason I've always assumed that was him as well.

Hmm.  I'd definitely like to hear more specific details about this Snow Cake scene.  But then in a way, I almost don't, because if for some reason this film goes the Gissing route I could never bear to know that I'd had to miss it!

Usually, in his bed scenes, he is covered by a sheet up to his waist, and most likely this will be the same. Maybe darkzorro knows more detail. Certainly it would be no more than an R rating.

In your opinion, in Dark Harbor, was that him or a body double - in either the diving scene or the walking up the steps scene. Someone asked me a question about the scene and I looked up a screen cap of it and realized that in the diving part he's so far away you can't see for sure if it's actually him or just someone who's about the same build, etc. Personally, I think it's all him . . . just a feeling that, having decided to do the scene, he would want it to be honest. But . . . maybe not.

But a bedroom scene is different - a lot more detail to be seen.

Hello, all!  I have just spent an enjoyable day with one of our GB members.  Alfan from Canada is out here visiting and we met for the first time and had a great time talking "Alan" talk all day.  We went on the Warner Brothers tour and saw the Harry Potter exhibit in the museum.  We saw the Ford Anglia, many of the original costumes worn by the cast (sadly, nothing from Snape), various props and production sketches from the films.  We even got sorted by the sorting hat.  She was sorted into Gryffindor and I am a Slytherin (wooo-hooooo!)

Interestingly, they only allow small groups of people into the exhibit and then docents follow closely behind you watching your every move.  They must have had a problem with people trying to touch things or take items when they thought no one was looking.  They also were very strict about NO CAMERAS.  So we don't have any pictures of the HP stuff to share with you.  This was a great exhibit and well worth the time.  I was really impressed with how elaborate the costumes were.  Especially Lucius Malfoy's and Arthur Weasley's.  They also had Hagrid's coat and boots.  Man, Hagrid is huge!

After that, we went to lunch and traveled to Whimsically Alley a Harry Potter store in Santa Monica.  We had lots of silly fun playing with all the wizard things.  You would have thought both of us were 10 years old.

From there we traveled on to the Third Street Promenade to shop and walked to the cliffs that overlook PCH and the beach and watched the fog roll in.

I don't want to steal Alfan's thunder so I'll let her give a more detailed account of our day of fun.  She still has another week of vacation so she won't be back on the GB until next week.  It was great to meet someone from the GB and be able to talk to another person who's as obsessed with Alan as I am and not feel like a weirdo.  You know, I've lived here all my life but would have never gone to these places on my own.  So, thanks, Alfan!!  Hope the rest of the trip is as much fun!

Mrs. Slope -- It sounds like you had a wonderful time! The organic bananas are on my agenda too! *shaking head* We are all soooooooo weird.........!

No, I haven't left for London yet. I'm leaving April 25 and return May 3. I plan to take my laptop to keep a journal and check in occassionally.

Ardent (Jan) thanks for that lovely picture of AR. He is so adorable, isn't he?
Dumpy Doris, you are so right that this place over here is so relaxed. I read on the other GB (suzannes) how you invited everyone over here. That was so nice of you. A few years ago, as you recall there were a bunch of people with very strong views, especially on the Downtime Bar. I am so glad to see that is over.
Have a good one all. Off to watch the Chronicles of Narnia. I love that movie. All it needs to make it better is a role by our Alan!

That was new to me too, Jan, thanks!

The thing that is going on on the other GB is still there, I've just tried to take a look and failed again. It's a popup curse, definitely.

I prefer "Da Code" after all. Once I did break it at first try, well, it happened just once but it was an unforgettable moment.

Comments:

Well, I'm not going to try it again yet! I wonder if websitetoolbox decided it would be nice to have a popup ad and something's wrong with it????

Anyway, I found this and I haven't seen it before. Feast your eyes:

Here's the text that goes with it:

Image #57325443 Title: Cambridge Jones Portraits - Alan Rickman Caption:
LONDON - MARCH 9: Alan Rickman poses during a photo call held on March 9, 2004 at his home in London, England. (Photo by Cambridge Jones/Getty Images) Date Created: 9 Mar 2004 12:00 AM File Size/Pixels/DPI: 2744K/4063x2702/300

Nahima: that code error thing has nothing to do with whether you typed it in right, very often! No doubt about that. I had to do one on the GB this morning 3 times.

And this time I got it right - it was very obvious, but I still got an error.

What a fright, I thought my PC had got a virus.

Could it be the revenge of the spammers?

Probably "Da Code" is fighting for its life right now.

(I've told you before, I'm a chicken.)

Grrr... no matter it could be at war, "Da Code" here is relentless.
Come on, thing, give me a break! It is jq44d, I'm absolutely sure!!!

Wouldn't it be funny if the "Nanner Shrine" has received so much notoriety from the internet that crowds of women regularly enter the store and have their pictures taken with the bananas?  I think that is absolutely hilarious!  This should be a "must see" location for any AR fan traveling to London.  (Has Dee already left on her trip?)

Helloooo all!!

And a belated Happy Easter to all of you. I have just returned from London yesterday and am having so much fun reading over what I missed on the board so far. Mfff ffff MWUAHAHAHAHA!! Sorry.. All in all it was a strange holiday, including a lost suitcase, fainting in a bar - no NOT at the sight of AR (unfortunately, hehe) - and the joy of a little food poisoning towards the end, but in between I had the great pleasure of visiting Planet Organic aka "The Nanner Shrine" (credit to Red Tango for this name, I can never call it anything else since I read it on your page!!) and watching MNiRC. The play was great and Megan Dodds did an amazing job. The talented (and sexy) director had chosen the texts excerpts wisely so that personal and political statements were pretty equal. So it didn't get boring at all. She played it very naturally and really good. The audience was moved and I saw people with tears in their eyes.

Next day I went on a pilgrimage to Planet Organic. Gosh, I found it so funny because at the exact moment I did it I knew that it was so absolutely mad. Mwhaha.. I had two friends with me so at least it wasn't too embarrassing to have my picture taken in front of the banana table (yes, the original rack was gone!! Was it stolen? Brought to a museum? Sold on Ebay?). An amused shop assistant came by to ask if everything was allright. Haha..

So these are the news so far. Oh by the way: GBP 1.99 per kilogramme!!

This is a lyric that i change a bit so it sounds a bit like what i think about "teh man" Usually it's Moro or Whogirl17 that do stuff like this but.. well.. I just think about it and.. here it is..

"You're Beautiful" by James Blunt.

My life is brilliant.

My life is brilliant.
My love is pure.
I saw an angel.
Of that I'm sure.
He smiled at me from the telly.
He was with another chicks.
But I won't lose no sleep on that,
'Cause I've got a plan.

You're Beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face from where I sit,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.

Yeah, he caught my heart,
As I watch him on.
Anyone could see from my face that I was,
Flying high,
And I don't think that I'll see him again,
But I have a moment that will last till the end.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face from where I sit,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
You're beautiful, it's true.
There must be an angel with a smile on her face,
When she thought up that I should be with you.
But it's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you.

PS: What da ya think? And... ANyone remember who got that clip which the music is this song? Cause i can't recall it..

And i agree! Da Code is really a pain in the head..

Chris, I hope you are better meanwhile and you can enjoy Easter! Bunny Face

Concerning your question about my exam: the worst is the administration procedure to officially enrol for the exam - it's unbelievable. They are all nuts - every week they tell you sth different they need. Next Wednesday I am going to hand in everything and then I am going to start reading and learning.

It's not only about literature - I am studying Anglistik/Americanistik for teaching in High Schools (Gymnasium). This includes literature, linguistics and didactics in English (plus a second subject which I already finished years ago - sports) plus a scientific educational study (for all students to become teachers) of paedagogik, didactics and psychology. All in all I am facing 3 written and 12 oral exams between end of July and November. Therefore I am very much looking forward to seeing Dee, MNiRC, and enjoying 4 days in my beloved England before I "lock myself away from the world".

Pam, wonderful, congratulations. My hubby and my daughter both think I am absolutely nuts (and I haven't yet written any letters to Him...)

I try to lose some weight before the 28 of April, haha, that's me:

Love to all of you, another crazy

Yeah, after reading CatsPlay's fashion advice for the MNiRC Q&A, I'm rethinking the basic black ensemble I was planning to wear. ROFL! *rolling on floor snorting* If you haven't seen her hysterical lj post, click the link and scroll down to "Fashion Do's for an Effective Rickman Encounter":

http://www.rickman247.com/

Since I'm going to be dressed so well *cough* does anyone have suggestions on what to say to AR if there's opportunity after the session? And DON'T any of you jokesters suggest wrapping myself around his leg and begging him to come back to my hotel....that's already my first question! *snort*wink*

BTW - I've been practicing my British curses for the trip, but they just don't roll off the tongue naturally. Sigh...might have to resort of some old midewest favorites if the need arises

Pam: Your letter and picture sound great! I just have warm visions of him baking your cookies in his kitchen with Rima. Then a nice cup of hot tea and some still-warm ginger snapes with a little conversation: "How is work going, dear?" "Oh, fine, my sweet, although I'm a little stressed after that Occlumancy scene." "Well, I'm here now." "That's all I ever wanted. . . ."

Doris: Oooo!

Also - I could use one of those, too. Everything I say, I have say from 2 to 5 times! Never only once.

Catsplay, thats okay to ask. Yes, Melanie did write it, but also added that Alan saw it and thanked me for sending him in the letter my recipe for "ginger Snape" cookies!!! He said he was going to try some during a break from his filiming!! I couldn't believe it..Who knows if this is the norm or not for a letter like this, but who cares-it is so special to me. I even got a frame for it today and have it on my wall.
As to the Ginger Snape cookies, our local library was putting together a cookbook a few summers ago full of recipes based on our favorite character, so I decided to go with the Ginger Snapes (based on Ginger Snap cookies). It was a huge success and everyone seemed to like them.
I wonder if Rima bakes for him? I wonder if maybe the two of them will try to bake these cookies between their busy schedules at some point.
I was also sent an autographed picture of Alan which I put in another frame on my bureau. My husband thinks I am nuts-who cares, its such fun when you reach over 50!!! Have a nice one all and Happy Easter. Glad I took one more look in here as we are off to the Easter Holidays over the weekend and enjoyed reading all your posts. Have fun guys..

Chris, so sorry you're sick. I've had something causing a stuffy nose, but I don't want to see the doctor and hear "get rid of (!) the cats". I wish they'd say, "find the cats a new home" instead.

The new idea is, do not let a pet outside roaming freely. What that cat did could be a sign of illness, BTW. Cats don't usually leave a "calling card". Also, don't be afraid to call me Dumpy...I walk exactly like that chick on the Easter egg above, flapping my arms and yakking too!

Hey, girls - That picture annette and darkzorro93 put on the guestbook is my absolute favorite.  That expression goes right to the heart, so appealing. He looks like he's asking for something (and he'd probably get it, with that charm!).

Hazel/green eyes!  Alan, Alan, Alan! boyish charm?!!? he still has it as shown in the photo above, too. He could'nt be that charming in person, too distracting! it's all about that expressive face (dark, brooding voice is an extra).

Remember? "Hey! you have to hide your love away" by the Beatles??

Hikity, no no no!!! *I* have to send back to MDC TVG, I was next in line. So, you don`t mind passing it to me after you read it, please? *battling eyelashes* When are your exams due? You were saying you wanna get a degree in *ha ha haaaaaacheooooo* English literature or something like that, right? Well I hope everything goes well, I know what you must be going through

Sevvy, no, I didn`t get any email. It`s probably my service, gmail has had some server problems recently. However, I *haaaaacheooo* hope I can make it into the chatroom tonight, we`ll discuss it further. I`m still looking for it. Have you tried download.com? I skipped that. They should have it....

Thank you for your concern, I don`t wanna rain on anyone`s parade but I`m actually feeling* acheooooooooo* WORSE! I don`t know if Emteee`s flu was virtually contagious but I think I was the next one in line. And it`s the THIRD time this spring! And I don`t EVER get sick, I`m a real fortress....*acheooooooo*! But this day has all the ingredients for competing in "the worse day of the year" section. I completely forgot about my Spanish essay that was due today (after I already postponed it for about two weeks!), I ate the most disgusting Greek salad ever cooked on the face of this Earth, at KFC, then I had to literally WALK (because I have a knee injury ...DON`T ASK!) through a torrential rain (without an umbrella, obviously! Who else would be so stupid??!!) for about half an hour because..bec...*haaaacheooo* because my car engine broke down in the middle of the road and THEN what`s the first thing I see when (finally!!) I get back home? Cat poo!! Right in front of my door!  God, if I EVER catch my next door neighbor letting that fat Persian BEAST walk freely through the building I swear I`m gonna ()&*%$$^&^**$$  *incoherent typping*  and then *^&^%$##@)& while %^ *haaaa..haaaacheoooo* ##&*(&(^**%%!!!! *snif snif* I need a napkin...

*composing herself a decent face* Why, yes, Doris, that`s why I was laughing, your story was just so cute!

Also, Cats, sorry I couldn`t post any comments on your LJ (I need to apologize for this because you know I check it on a daily basis) but I was so caught up with things I couldn`t read anything these past few days. But I hear you`ve made some new icons! Groovy!! Can`t wait to see them! I`ll stop by later, when hopefully I`ll feel better.  Till then, have a nice day everyone! (and I don`t mean that in the British sense! )

 Storytime!  Alan bought a computer:

 Alan's password:

Alan's first pop-up:   GOOD BYE?!

Alan takes his computer to the repair shop. The repairman says, "Sir, your computer crashed because you drop-kicked it across the floor - a common error".

Alan picks-up his repaired computer the next day (yeah, right!). He takes it home and turns it on and sees a pop-up that reads, "Click here for a listing of anger management classes!" Alan responds by telling the computer what he told the bar room cat. The computer crashes.

He takes it back to the repairshop. The repairman takes a quick look at it and then he drop-kicks it across the floor.

Alan says horrorfied, "How could you do such a think to my computer?!"

The repairman says, "Well, how could you say such a thing to my cat?!"

"How do you know about THAT?!" Alan asked incredulously.

"Another one of my clients was there, she saw the whole thing! ever hear of Ann Robinson?"

Alan mumbles, "Being famous is over-rated!"

"You want me to fix this thing or what?!" the repairman said irritatedly.

"No", Alan said indignantly, "if I wanted something of mine man-handled I would just walk into a Red Hat Shop dressed like *pause* Snape!!"

Alan mutters to himself, "I knew computers would be trouble!"

Jan, thanks! I guessed so....we are a bit unfamiliar with this slang here in good old Germany, Yulia. My family and I are living near the river Rhine between Cologne and Düsseldorf, I am neither 14 nor 15, Hula Girlmultiply it by two and add some years,

FYI:  Last year I visited Baku, some years ago Tiblisi (hubby is there and in Yeriwan on a regular basis) and where are you from?

Jan, I have the same problems with number 6, huhu

Hikity: It's African American slang, basically. Like what's used in Rap music. I'm no expert, though, if anyone else can add more . . . Red Tango? You out there?

Any time I have to type a '6' in the code, it's wrong. Maybe I need to type a '9' only upside down?

Yep! That's what RedTango meant, Chris! Fo' sho'! The bib-tie effect, Hikity, refers to the fact that his tie looks like a bib (worn by a baby or an adult at Red Lobster when eating) because it's so wide, I guess. Here's her site:

That WebSpace thing is funny.  Doesn't it strike those people at all odd that Alan Rickman doesn't have a home-taken photo of himself but has to use a commercial any of us can get???? Maybe he got it right here!

WONDERFUL LADIES here...I finally had time to read through all your comments of the last 3 or 4 days here and on the GB and I was laughing to tears:

about Claudia's new easter smilies - they are fantastic! -, Chris and her allusions - sorry Moro but I thought yes that must be her, -     totallly from my imagination of course -         then about our chicken Sevy, who forgot the endless chats we had in the last two weeks about who we can convince her mom to allow her to come with me to London                                                                                           and about other funny comments

MrsDoylesCat - I would LOVE to have a copy of VG -here is my email: Hikity2001@yahoo.de

My daughter got her two wisdom teeth out (terrible English, sorry, no idea how to say it correcly - pls help) and I have to look after her now...

BTW, RedTango used so many 'dialect' (or better words of oral communication) words in her up-dates that I got in some trouble understanding all of it . I would like to post some of her -for me-strange vocabulary, if you don't mind - for further enlightenment from our native speakers. E.G. what is a semi bib-tie effect or a mo-fo??

Luv you all

That prologue really was gruesome, wasn't it, MrsDoylesCat? It made me sick and it bothered me for days. I knew a man who, in WWII, had done just that to "the enemy", though at least they were dead. . .  And those details didn't really have anything to do with the story. Anyone who hasn't read the book and doesn't like gruesome stuff could skip that prologue and not miss a thing. The gist is that someone was a traitor and they're not sure if it was Willy or another guy.

Anyway - I finally have my website finished - the Home Page and the Guest Book, anyway, and one picture on the Favorite Photos page. But it's a start. The only problem I saw was that when I posted to the Guest Book myself a double return didn't result in a space between paragraphs. In fact, there are no paragraphs at all - it's all run together. Tomorrow I'll have to try to find out what's happening there. Right now I'm going to go do some serious snoring!

I hope anyone who's read Villa will drop by to my site and leave their comments - I can't wait to find out what you all think!

Yeah!  Finally had time to sit down and write that parody song for all of you!  I couldn't decide what song to use, since I wanted to make sure that as many people were familiar with the song as possible.  Then, I figured it out!  I'll do a song that's Alan related!  Then everyone will know it!  So, I present for your amusment,

"Snape ain't gonna Live Anymore,"

my ode to my fears about Book Seven, to be sung to "Sun Ain't gonna Shine Anymore" from Truely, Madly, Deeply.  Enjoy!

Bitterness is the robe you wear
A deep shade of black is in your hair

Albus ain't gonna live anymore
A skull is gonna rise in the sky
Your rage is always clouding your ey-eyes
Because you're without love...Sna-a-a-a-pey

Treacherousness is the class you're in
Voldy will loose, so you’ll never win

The spy ain't gonna hide anymore
You might have kissed redemption good-bye
When you looked in Dumbledore’s ey-eyes
Poor Snape’s without love

Lonely, I know you are, Snapey
JK might kill you
And I’m gonna cry-y-y-y-y

Severus ain’t gonna teach anymore

I’m frightened that you’re gonna have to die
The Order is thinking that you lied

The sun will never shine anymore
When I’m without my love…Sna-a-a-a-pey

Claudia, I think it`s up to you to decide what to do about the code box, after all. I, for one, would definetly vote for its removal but it`s you who have to deal with spam, more than us.

Thank you for the movie recommendation, I`ll look into it. And while we`re at it, I jus saw Marylin Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing and Charm School. It`s a wonderful film starring Robert Carlyle, Marisa Tomei, John Goodman and many others and it`s directed by Randall Miller, who also directed and co-written Nobel Son (which reminds me, it didn`t get a lot of publicity, did it?). So If any of you get the chance, watch it! Robert Carlyle and Mary Steenburgen are particulary good in this one.

Its been rather hectic for me lately so I haven't been over here in a while.  I have a lot to catch up on.

Linda, I wished you happy birthday yesterday on the main board so now I with you a happy belated birthday!  I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday!

Jan, I agree with Chris on forums as well.  I guess you can tell what my advice would be....a guest book.  LOL  The reason I opted for a guest book instead of a forum or LJ was because I wanted the place to be easily accessible with no membership requirement.  The down side to that is that is takes a lot of work especially when spammers or undesirables start to reek havoc.  Like Chris said, if you need assistance don't hesitate to ask. That's what I like so much about our group.....everyone is so open to helping everyone else.

There has been some complaints about the ease of reading the image in the new spam feature that Website Toolbox added recently.  I mailed them and asked if there was any way they could make the image any clearer.  Here's their reply.

Unfortunately, we cannot make the image clearer because doing so would make it easier for the spammers. There is image recognition software out there than can use algorithms and logic to guess the answer to the image verification. Although most spammers do not have the money to buy or create such software, it is available and could possibly be used. The image is somewhat hard to read so that the image recognition software gets confused and guesses the wrong answer. Humans on the other hand are smart enough to make out the letters much better each time.

So there you have it.  The only other alternative is to turn the feature off.  Since we're all in this together, I'll take an unofficial vote as to what the majority wants.  Email me and let me know.

I like to share, what I feel are good non AR movies over here.  A couple of weeks ago, I caught an Irish film called Rory O'Shea Was Here.  I absolutely loved this film.  It had special significance for me because I have a close friend whose son has MD.  In the US, HBO Zone has been running it lately.  If you can catch it, I recommend it.  It also goes by the name Inside I'm Dancing.  Steven Robertson and James McAvoy were absolutely fantastic as the two striken young men.  They are forces to be reckoned with in the talent arena!

Jan, that sounds fabulous!

In my opinion, forums can give you quite a headache. Visitors have to log in everytime they want to post and trying to follow th threads can be awful, for me at least. I think you should go with LiveJournal. This way other LJ usrs can keep up with your latest entries by adding you to their friends page.

A guestbook sounds nic too. I personally love this place because it`s easier to acces.

Give us a shout if you need asistance in anything, we`ll be happy to help!

Help, ladies! I need some advice. With my DSL service I get some webspace and I've decided it might be nice to make a place to discuss specifically Villa Golitsyn and also any other AR films, plays, etc. But I'm new to all of this and I need some advice: Which would make a better forum for that, a guest book or an lj? I'm thinking that an lj might be good because I could have a thread devoted to each project separately but lj's confuse me sometimes - sort of information overload. A guest book is great but discussion of multiple projects might be difficult - to find comments on the ones you're interested in. Or should I start out with a guest book for Villa and worry about others later?????

I'd appreciate any input y'all would offer!

Happy Birthday, Sevvy & Linda!

Ooooh, have fun, Nahima, learning all of the secrets!  I'm sure you will!

I'm having fun with my chocolate. Yum, yum. Makes great hot chocolate! One night I used the Puerto Rican coffee with the chocolate/cinnamon in it. Very interesting, but I have to remember not to do that in the evening again . . . it tends to *hem, hem* revisit you! And the Maria cookies with cream cheese on them, topped with Nutella . . . Ooooooo! Delish!

Thanks for a great exchange!

Yeeeeeeeeah guys, it was great chatting with you yesterday. That will be a comfort now that clicking madness is over and Mr. Bean is smirking self-satisfiedly down from his throne. What a shame...

Well, we were great though... And I am afraid the madness will start again as soon as Hello decides to put Alan into another weekly poll this year. And they will.

Hey everybody!  Yes, Chris, I am still here, and am so touched that you remembered me!  I have indeed been super busy lately, but I always find time to check the GB, even if I'm not posting.  I was going to write another parody song for all of you last week, but got caught up in stuff.  Speaking of stuff, check the web site for the play I'm in!  It's going to be a riot!  http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=67780757

I am at the moment suffering from a nasty case of food poisoning, but ever since I saw those pics on the main GB of Jude Law and Alan, my stomach is feeling decidedly better!  I cannot thank you enough, Claudia and who ever else has posted them!  Jude is my absolute favorite actor next to Alan, and it is making my heart explode in my chest to see them together.  And too think that they are reading Samuel Beckett, one of the favorite playwrights, it gives me the vapors!  I can't handle that much deliciousness (but if anyone has any more pics of them togther, please send them my way.  My tummy will thank you!)  For those of you who have been reading my excerpts, you might be interested to know that Jude is also one of the inspirations for another one of the characters in my novel, so to see him and Alan side by side is like seeing my book playing itself out in real life!  Ok, I need to crawl back into bed now, but it is lovely to know that I am missed.  Hopfully, I'll be able to pop in more often from now on!  Ta ta, all!

P.S. Dee, congrats on getitng that ticket to the UK!  It's always been a dream of mine too to get over there, so seeing that you're making that big step gives me hope that some day I can too!

Long time no see ladies...

Just dropping in to say that I am putting the finishing touches on an article that features a paragraph or two about *cough* you know who. Working on being able to do a proper profile next in the context of the magazine - which is Pan-African...

The magazine should be off for its print-run by the end of the week. No pictures in this one I'm afraid...

Ciao

Ladies,

You can order MNiRC from Nick Hern Books

I was waiting forever for my copy from Amazon to become available that I had preordered, and then discovered that you can order direct from Nick Hern.  I think they are the publisher.  They are very reliable and it came quickly.

No, Hikity, I haven` t ordered it yet. I will. Eventually. Right now I`m on a hunt for TVG. I`ll have to postpone MNiRC for the summer, right now I can barely find time to breath. And speaking of busy persons, WhoGirl? Are you still with us?

You cannot BELIEVE what a sunny weather we`ve been enjoying here!  Suddenly the summer doesn`t seem so far away! Yey!

Has the Hello poll ended yet? I haven`t checked it this morning. Oh well, you did brilliant girls, none the less! Come on, chain-back-patting!

Sorry, ladies, I had no time to post - my family kept my breath

Now, Chris, did you get your MNiRC copy???

My mother tried to send me into April yesterday. She phoned me and said, she read that our Man was imprisoned, haha, unfortunately I am up-to-date concering him...so I only laughed. But she was very successful with my poor father. She slightly opened the door to our terrace in the morning, took the paintings from the walls..my poor dad was running through the whole house looking for other things which might have been stolen. My crazy mother is successful every year - incredible

Great getting rid of "spam"

, but how do you type in a code that is "k 3 d m upside down i h"?!?

Dumpy Doris
4/01/06 at 09:32 PM

Comments:

One more step...only a real, live, human being can copy the code, thus no spam gets in automatically. It can also be used to track people. It also takes a snapshot of you. Most people don't realize that if you put the letters and numbers together it spells "April Fool's Day!", or Dumpy Doris is full of it! question: do you have to use spaces

                                         ?

It's unbelievable! What a nightmare!
Are we trapped in an endless poll?

The rules are clear:
Voting will end on March 31st.

What is not said is the year in which it would ends...

OMG, that's it! This is the most wicked April Fool's day prank of all.
We'll be voting for years!

We and our daughters and the daughters of our daughters and so on 'til the end of time. Or until Hello!'s bankruptcy. Whatever happens first.

(I know...
)

Okay Jan, we'll be patient, promise!

(Anyway, I think Chris is wrong too, so probably she is right.)

Chris,

everytime I try to post it takes me not only to wear glasses but to get closer with face to screen. Yahoo has those **** stripes on the letters and numbers, here it's all blurry.
I understand anti spam but they should consider that we NEED to be able to read those codes! ARGH

Ok ther is no way the cod thingy can succed on the first attempt! Mine said p44f8 FOR SURE and it still gave me an error. Maybe the whole point behind it is that spammers don`t have what we humans call PATIENCE!
