Oh, I was just having a chat in the chatroom with Emilia and Sevvy a couple of days ago and I was whining about how much I wanted to buy this fancy shmancy fur coat (for all you animal lovers out there -it's not REAL fur! *snort*) that, unfortunately, was about half my salary. Anyway, what the heck, Christmas is coming! So I bought it. Of course, if I don't get a Christmas bonus and FAST they'll probably cut my phone line for not paying my taxes in due time.

Not as evil as you might have hoped for, Nicky

Thanks, Nicky, I'll keep that recipe near . I usually don't like to mix drinks (it has been known to have a weird effect on me) but what the heck. One should always try new things.

A quick message for Sevvy and Emilia - guess what I bought todaaaaay.....And no, it does NOT use batteries.

PS: the other day- I meant Tuesday, not Thursday, geesh! *slap* I guess I was hoping for the weekend to arrive sooner. *sigh* it never does...

Hey Chris-

Claudia's recipe below has

all constituents, but being a

former bartender, I had to

kick it up a notch!

Here goes:

1 shot Kaluah

1 shot Bailey's

1 shot Crown Royal

Shake it up and drink!

What the hell, just drink right

out of the shaker.

It's a tiny bit more than what

Claudia stated, but I'm voracious.

I've got a bad case of the "Can't-help-its".

Hello my beloved droogs-

I've tried the "Duck Fart"

drink as described.

FANTASTIC!!!!!!

To be honest, I made mine a double,

and it's wonderful! Yes, very smooth.

Not for the weak at heart.

But very much worth it! Yum yum!

Can I get anyone a drink?

Pam, Dumpy?

This round is on me!

Here's to good times! Let's have many more!

Alfan!  Whoa girl on the drinkies!!!  LOL  I had a very special person tell me of a drink recipe over the weekend but I haven't tried it yet.  Its called a "Duck Fart".  The name is discusting but it sounds like a smooth drink.

Anyway, you fill a shot glass a quarter full of Kahlua then two quarters full of Bailey's and then finish off with a little less of a quarter of Crown Royal.  I've been warned that it is very smooth and you have to watch out!  LOL

Thanks for extending the hand of friendship, Pam.  That is very sweet of you.

Hey Yall!  I hope everyone that celebrates had a brilliant AND SAFE Thanksgiving!  I went to be with my Daddy in West Virginia.  The travelling was murder.  Our normal 8 hour trip up there took us 10.5 hours.  It was awful!

Anyway, although I hate Mondays, I'm glad to be back.

I read some harsh talk between two or our members below.  I truly hope you two will take it somewhere else and save our group for the fun posts.  Seriously....what difference does it make that one posts right after the other?  The paranoia really is silly.  Its not like someone can reach out and grab you through the computer.

Pam, I hope your son will have a quick and successful surgery.  I remember back when my son was 3....we had a really bad Thanksgiving that year because of illness.  Good luck.

I'm thinking of getting my grandchildren a Wii for Christmas.  They have never been able to get a new system as soon as it comes out. They usually have to wait a couple years.  But this year, I think we can swing it.  Wish me luck in finding one!

Yall, I'm going to be working on the smilie bank today.  Take out all the Thanksgiving fellows and put in some Christmas.

Hugs to all of you!

Ok, this has totally nothing to do with anything but i tell you guys, download the song i mention in this littel blurp and then picture the dream i had.

during the nap i had this afternoon (due to waaaay to many jello shooters last night,, dont want to even see jello for the next year). But anyways, during my nap i had a wicked Snape dream. First of all there he was at the end of the battle ( and like my other dream) he was sweaty, bloody  and walking through a bit of fog and smoke. But in the background is the song " Mad World" by Gears of War. He is looking at the distruction of Hogwarts, the death that surrounds him and he see's  the tomb stone of Dumbledore, stops, and as he has this look of utter devestation, he lets one single tear fall and is in his own world, but then hears the jubilant crowd around the triuphant trio and then he slips away back into the haze.

It was so sureal, it was awesome, and he looked hot........i swear if you download this song, you will think of him, if not i will give you your money back, no wait, i will exchange it without question. Ok, still a little warped i guess.

oh and by the way, this is the second dream i have had about a desolate, sweaty, bloody Snape at the end of the war.The first one, there was him alone sitting on a rock, totally exhausted with his head down and all of a sudden there was a arm on his shoulder and it was Hermione and all she said was

"thank  you" and he said " thats all i ever wanted" Then my alarm went off.

Weird dreams eh!!!!!

Chris and anyone else interested in my Ginger Snape (Snap) cookies. Here it is as published in our special library cookbook froma few summers ago
we had to pick a book so my recipe read as follows:
My recipe is based on the Harry Potter book, Order of the Phoenix and is based on the character Professor Severus Snape, the Potions Master.
               Ginger Snape (Snap) cookies:
Use either light or dark molasses. The light molasses will result in a much spicier cookie much like our dear Professor!

1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
granulated sugar

Mix brown sugar, shortening, molasses and egg. Stir in flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt.
Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease cookie sheet lightly. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonsfuls into balls. Dip tops into granulated sugar. (If you have a Snape cookie cutter, or fascimile that's even better-you can place the shapes on the cookie sheet after dipping with the sugar) Place balls or shapes sugared sides up, about 3 inches apart on cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 minutes or until set
makes approx. 4 dozen  (Thats a lot of Snapes!!!!)
After the cookies are done and you have a cookie cut out, now is the fun part to decorate your favorite Professor!

Have fun and ENJOY!!!!!
Pam
P.S. Sorry to bore anyone that isnt interested in cooking, but wanted to post for those that requested the recipe.

Gee-I'll have to bake next weekend..Wonder where my "Snapey" cookie cutter is???

This is so funny I just had to share wuth you guys.
While shopping today, I was walking down the Christmas aisle with their usual Christmas decorations such as lights, stockings, trimmings etc. When I looked up and to my shock (and my friends) there was a photo of the "sheriff" that someone had drawn a red Santa hat on and written underneath-Christmas hasn't been cancelled!!!
Apparently there is an Ar fan that works in the store..with a great sense of humor...
off to read some more of those Cat Who mysteries which I found at a second hand book store today.
Have a good evening

For some weeks this place has sucked now. I had no idea this was a forum to make already existing fights worse and worse by informing as many people as possible about them. But maybe that is what provides all the fun and I am missing something.

Maybe we need another guestbook for fighting? But no, that one is already next door, is it not? Come to think of it, the discussions next door are not as sophisticated as they should be according to "the rules" - but no one cares for any rules anyway, right? But beware, you might be the one singled out and blamed for all the illegal squeeing next time.

So, here is your mantra, everyone: "I am not the centre of the world, neither is AR. I am not..."

Pity, this was a good place once. But I guess I better get back to work instead of reading all the nonsense here that is none of my business anyway. You may hate me now. But guess what, I will not mind. Go ahead, focus your anger on me and then forget it all and get back to topics that might be interesting for the remaining members of this group.

I think someone out there really believes this is gonna make an impression on us.
I'm sorry.
It doesn't.
Either think of a different method or stop trying. *whispers* I'd choose the latter if I were you.

1. Problems like this should be handled in private and certainly not on a public board. People here are talking about holidays, daily events, common interests, etcetera. Every once in a while someone goes off to whine about people harassing her. Yes, I have always said problems like this should be discussed and solved by it's obvious this cannot happen in this case. (and yes, there is ONE case because there is ONE person.) So please, try to solve your issues with some of the people here in private.
Imagine - if me and Peek (for example) were to start fighting and calling each other names, I'm sure everybody else would feel a little embarrassed to assist. A little common sense wouldn't hurt every once in a while.

2. Honestly, people who accuse hiding under names like "disgusted" , "fortune teller" and so on will never be taken seriously by anyone. At least have the courage to post under a single and identifiable identity.

3. There is no 3. I've given this subject enough attention. It doesn't even deserve it.

Now, where did we left off? What were you saying, Alfan, that Lupin and Tonks are not shown in the trailer? Or are they? I'm sorry, I haven't had my coffee yet. I'm still waiting for something to prove me wrong about Tonks, I was a little surprised (and not in a good way) when I saw the first set pictures in which she appeared. Hmm...erm..well...not that good.

Have a relaxing Sunday everyone!

PS: Peek, I mentioned you solely because of the unlikeliness of us 'battling' each other like that.

I almost had heart failure when I read that too!DOD-11/18-Holy Cow--what a mistake-hope someone lets them know.
Chris, tomorrow I am pulling out the old recipe book for some holiday cooking and will find the Ginger Snape Cookie Recipe and re-post it. I originally posted it over at Suzannes a yuear or two back and the Library in our town published it in their little cookbook of celebraity cooking which we held one summer. The cookie cutter I have is a shape of a person that I call "Snape:" and decorate the cookies accordingly! They are pretty tasty too.
see you all later-have been reading those mystery books by Lillian Braun Jackson entitled The Cat Who mysteries. Its about a man Jim Qwuilleran and his two Siamese Cats that somehow unravel the mystery. (The male cat is Koko and believed to be physic) They live in a renovated Apple Barn in the woods and makes for some pretty good reading!
off to do chores and some reading after I am done-

Well it's been just an ordinary day so far (by extension - exhausting and just plain boring) so I plan to collapse in my comfy armchair, with Teh Dog in my lap, a good book in my hand and a glass of hot chocolate by my side.

That is, if I can get up from my desk first. I seem to be stuck in a middle of HP goodies. Not that I'm complaining or anything, of course.  However someone has to cook dinner and I don't plan to let my dog handle it. Last time that happened it gave me an indigestion to remember.

Good morning everyone! I was wondering how all our American friends are cekebrating their Thanksgiving holidays this year. I thought it make an interesting topic.
Thanksgiving Day is this coming Thursday. Usually, I get up early, make a delicious stuffing for the Turkey and let him cook all morning. We then sit around in our PJ's and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. By the time its over and we Santa Clause at the end of the parade, the Turkey is done-yum.
We then sit down and have all the works. Turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, veggies, hot rolls from the oven etc.
In the late afternoon, we are going to visist my husbands family and have dessert-his mother bakes all kinds of pies, randing from Apple to pumpkin-
This is making me hungry just thunking about it.
Antine else want to share???
Have a nice day everyone-off to work shortly

for whatever reason, the parking brake wasn't

on, it went sliding downhill right over me, I didn't

even hear it coming from behind. Scared the hell out of me.

But like I said, bumps and bruises, nothing broken.

Hey, could've been worse, right?

As for the conflicts here, let's just all let it go and

I always thougth that Peter O Toole would of been a great choice and i had my evidence when in Troy he went to Achillies to ask for the body of Hector back. The eyes and the soft compassionate voice reminded me of the way Richard Harris portrayed DD. I remember reading somewhere that the fellow who played Percy, oh crap, brain fart, whats his name. Anyways, he said that RH was a real 'pr--k" on set and that he is the one person who he wouldnt want to work with again.( obviously when he was still alive ) I know Alan though got along well with him. oh oh oh, Chris Rankin, i remembered before i signed off, wheew!!! Thought my HP knowledge was slipping.

Face it people, the best Dumbledore is Gandalf!

Seriously now, I really miss R.Harris but I'm not dismissing Gambon just yet. Sure, his take on Dumbledore was a bit of a shocker at first but at least that kind of attitude's suited for the fifth film, me thinks.

My main problem right now is...what the heck happened to Harry's foofy hair??? YES, it's a walking mystery and NO, I won't be able to sleep at night without knowing.

I adore David Thewlis as Lupin. I don't know that I had anyone pictured before I saw him, but I really find Lupin appealing, probably because of him. Oldman was a surprise, but he works well! And I actually Like Michael Gambon MORE than Richard Harris. Maybe it's just because I've seen him do Dumbledor more now. I've forgotten how Harris made the role different and when I do see him in it, it's a shock.

I guess I did have a very specific picture of Umbridge in my head and I SWEAR I've seen women, actresses even, who seemed so much the part. I think my 5th grade teacher would have made a good Umbridge!!!

I also didn't read the first book until I had seen the first movie. So I had many of the actors in my head before I even cracked a book.

I, for one, am not getting my hopes done for the 5th film. I'm not a great fan of HP movies in general but they're always fun to see because of the actors. I think Imelda Staunton will do (actually - did ) a good job though.

Vicki-I am sure I will be pleased with her performance as Professor Umbridge. When the third movie came out under a different director I was skeptical but it proved to be, in my opinion, one of the best for mood, scenery etc.
Wasn't Richard Harris the best? Now and then I just have to watch his old film Camelot from the 1960's. He was an excellent actor and the only true Dumbledore even though we try to see him in Michael Gambeon. (he is a good actor but I know what you mean)
Off to bed soon-I am looking all around to see when I can pre-order that new Nintendo Wii system for christmas for my son in case they dont have any at midnight tomorrow night at best buy. Amazon took my email but I still check!!!

Although she may not look exactly as described by JK Rowling, I am pleased with their casting of Imelda Staunton as Delores Umbridge.  I've seen her in other things and I know she will do DU justice.  She plays that type of character well.

I was real skeptical when I first saw pictures of David Thewlis and heard they had cast Gary Oldman because they just didn't fit my mental picture of Lupin and Sirius.  But both actors did a tremendous job and now, when re-reading the books....I picture both of them in the role instead of my original mental picture.  The only one I have trouble with is Michael Gambon.  He does his best but Richard Harris will always be the true Dumbledore for me.

Just when you think things couldnt get any worse! Yikes-that photo of Umbridge isnt at all like I pictured her as either. I pictured her as a short, dumpy woman, with toad features such as puffy cheeks etc. Should be interesting.
Thanks for all the fun stuff guys, I took my son to the surgeon yesterday and we are facing surgery again during the christmas vacation as the cyst is not healing well and the doctor has to clean it out and stitch it back up. (the original surgery was done in May)
Someone over at ARASk is saying rhey are being stalked by Pam??? I beg to differ.
I have a feeling the person that wrote it comes on here and wont mention any names. I thought we were friends and the past was the past??? I have never stalked anyone!!!

Now, granted some of his "competition" is a bit...."eh" and even "ewh!" But they did a FABULOUS write up of him and managed to say in just a few paragraphs exactly the reasons I love him. Such as....

Frankly, a spectral Alan Rickman still beats out a vast percentage of mere mortals most days of the week.

Happy Birthday, NicketyNick!!    A fellow scorpion, eh?  (I just celebrated my b-day on monday).  Here's wishing you a great day covered in delicious, chocolate-y, Alan-y goodness!

A little OT:  I just watched for the first time, last night The Girl in the Cafe with Bill Nighy (a b-day present).  Wow!  What a different role for him!  Most of the things I've seen him in he plays a really outgoing, flamboyant character.  He was so subdued and mild-mannered in this role I hardly recognized him.  But he did it so well....he really is such a good actor.  Good film!

Now tell me, what do you think? Classy, eh? (Ok, I have NO earthly idea what I just gave you. my mind is a complete blur at this hour but I'm suuure that whatever it is, you'll be enjoying it, right? )

Oh and look, I brought a band too! They told me they go by the name of The Weird Sisters. (minus ten points if she's not a HP fan)

There's Snape in the OoTP trailer, there's Snape in the OoTP trailer,,,,,,,,,

SPOILER

Snape during Occulmency lessons accuses Harry of being weak minded,,,,,Harry says " im not weak". Then Snape says back in a voice that only he can do

" THEN PROVE IT". ( how many think he is going to say "prove it" with that little emphasis he does so often as Snape like when he says "turn to page 394". or "dont lie to me".

Totally off topic here, but i was on a page where i saw an avatar that made me laugh, it showed a picture of Snape and it said " Snape didnt kill Dumbledore" then switches to DD in POA/GOF and it then says " Gambon did"..... made me giggle.

And if you dont mind me saying, i have a love/hate relationship with Jason Issac. I love him to death in all the roles he has played but i hate the fact that he looks better in a green sequence dress than i do.

Snowcakie movie website? It has taken me

forever to get that damn thing to come up, and

it finally did the other day. Slightly different from

the movies trailers I've seen so far. There's a scene

in which I believe Alan is laughing with a high-pitched

giggle. It appeared to possibly be a"bedroom" scene

with Carrie Ann Moss. Am I correct? Or was that her laughing?

The Picture wasn't the greatest. Regaredless, I thought

it adorable! Can't wait,can't wait!

Years ago, before the Rickmania took hold, I saw on the TV menu, "Close My Eyes", "Dark Harbor", "Closet Land", etc., etc., ----ing etc. But did I watch?? NO. Mistake! Now that I want to see them, they've become extinct! (rarely listed). Darn-knit!

But at least we have the HK now, thanks Claudia, (GA)! BTW, I don't want to risk getting emails that say things like, "Show us your t--s!", or "Alan would rather crawl naked over broken glass than meet that viperous bitch, (me)!",  like it happened on  other places!

Luckily, Boyfriend is REAL understanding of my "side relationship" with Alan. And there is a deal in place that if I ever get my chance with Alan (you know, that nigh to of unbridled passion we all pray about!) I can take it -- He just wants all the details afterward!! Or if Alan shows up at the house asking me to run away with him, I'm GOING! However, all the same rules apply for Boyfriend if Minnie Driver shows up. Lucky for me, Boyfriend thinks Alan is a great actor and humanitarian and respects him, so it's okay that I find him sexy. If I was totally into some vapid, young, pretty boy, shallow celebrity, then he might mind.

CME was another movie that didn't have enough Alan in it for me to be as hooked in by it. I'll admit Awfully Big Adv. has grown on me after seeing it several times and I rank P.L. almost up there with Jamie (my favorite Alan character, neck in neck with Snape).

I think Mesmer is my next movie from Netflix! I'll report how I like it...cause I know you all and Alan care what I think!

I've found that Close My Eyes really grows on you.  I wasn't overly impressed after the first viewing.  I'd even venture to say I was a little creeped out by the brother/sister thing the first time and I wanted to kick Sinclair during the first part of the story.  But this film really, really grew on me with repeated viewings.  It's now one of my more favorites in my collection and Sinclair is one of my favorite characters.

Me again....  Just got another Netflix film, "Close My Eyes." It was okay. Normally Clive Owen skeeves me out. I just find him creepy. But he was pretty good in this film. And we did get a glimpse of his "assets." Ahhh beautiful Alan though. Funny, Boyfriend said he was such an "upper-class twit" in this film, and he really was! But he was cute. And I expected his "sex scene" which I had read him talk about, to be longer, but it was very brief and showed nothing but a couple people moaning and moving about under the covers for a few seconds. Damn. We get to see Clive's dilly-wapper but Alan only shirtless.

I'm actually glad I didn't spend the money to buy it. Netflix has been educational!

sue, Chris, Barbara NZ, Pam, Thanks, but I tried all those things before. It did not work. But, tonight it did. Most curious!

Nicketynick, thanks for the pep-talk. You're lucky it never happened to you! I knew before ever being on the internet that kind of hatred is the other person's problem.    I too only wanted to have fun, but boy, did that tee some people off!!

What is your location? NZ

Comments:

Yes, the password to Suzanne's is AR's surname. She says capitalise but you only have to use the capital for the first letter. It's how you would normally write a name.

Dumpy-

I love your toilet-smiley! LOL

Very cute!

And I truly feel that this is a good

group of folks to kick-back and have

fun with. Why anyone would call you a "loser"

etc. is beyond me. That's ridiculous and mean.

I can't say I've ever been on sites that treated

me that way, although a couple have gotten

snotty next door. And people like that are miserable,

obsessed, haven't been on a date in a while, and

and could use a drink. LOL

I don't accept that from anyone. Nor should you.

It's all about fun. Nobody wants to mess with this

Scorpio baby!

Sue, it depends on the browser but with Firefox and Internet Explorer you have to look in the Tools/Options menu. You should be able to enable or disable Pop-up blocker without harming your PC. I don't have pop up blocker enabled for quite some time and I don't have any problems. Sure, IMDb or yousendit might occasionally open a pop-up window but I'm not really bothered by that. Also, I'm pretty sure Firefox can have pop-up blocker enabled AND allow popup windows on the sites you choose.

Dumpy the pass word is RICKMAN I believe, however, I can't post there either and haven't been able to for months. I believe you have to turn off your anti pop up thingies etc and I don't know how to do that and don't want to open the pc up to risk anyway.

What is your email address?

Do you have to email Suzanne and get a special password to post on her AR Guestbook?

I followed the prompt, exactly. Always get "access denied". My-my, what people will do to "make" me give out my email!

sue   , and Chris   ,  I don't know what y'all are talking about on the ARDH Guestbook either!  - Dumpy

Hey, I know - let's see if any of you guys and anyone else here,  can get on Suzanne's AR Guestbook

Nicketynick you're overwhelming me with all your friendly comments!! I'm used to seeing "LOSER", "MORON", "GET A LIFE"...and much, much more

I've met some real professional "verbally abusive" folks on the internet! Whew! shame, shame!
