dee, your apology is very big of you, most people get angry if criticized just by the slightest thing!

Pam we're having a big meal tonight - I don't want to know how you lost 20 lbs.

Susan - that part where you saw her turn her head could have been the old "DON'T! -- my make-up!"

What is this?? I leave for a few days, come back and everyone is all foaming at the mouth about the "keeping a respectful distance" with Alan topics??? I HATE that issue!! That's it...I am now officially opening the topic of "what color underwear does Alan wear on Thursdays!" I vote blue briefs. Discuss!!!

Hi Pam!  Oh, yeah!  I saw a listing of the high-priced auction of Star Trek memorabilia.  Several of my fellow Starfleet: The International Star Trek Fan Association pals are in attendance, or will be.  (I forgot when it's happening.)   One of them is bringing $20,000 "just in case" he's able to get a bid in. How nice to have that kind of money to devote to our passions.  Thanks for mentioning it.

Wouldn't it be amazing if an auction of Alan Rickman costumes were held?  But actually, I like the idea of putting them in a museum (as with the "Sense & Sensibility" costumes) so more people could enjoy seeing them.

Just been trying to catch up with the postings here and on the other board.  YIKES!!!  Lots of info... and I'm not even halfway through.

I hope everyone's having a super weekend.

Back to work for me....

There is a hilarious clip of Daniel Radcliffe's appearance on Extras.  I have posted a link over on the HP spoilers board.  It's a radical departure from his "nice boy" image and I must say he's got quite a talent for comedy!

Sorry folks! I honestly didn't mean to bring the argument into the discussion board. I shouldn't even have mentioned it. My sincere apologies.

Just to be clear -- my comment was meant to be a bit cheeky. Just a gentle poke at something that happens on the guestbook at regular intervals. The first time I personally went thru it, I was thrown for quite a loop. Now, after all this time, it sort of makes me smile to see that human nature never changes.

I was glad to see Dorthea's view of the evening. It's interesting how different an event looks from different perspectives.

Pam - You've lost 20 pounds?! Well...I know where it is. It seems to have attached itself to my bum! Would you please come and claim it? *snort* Good for you!

Chris, very observative comments! I agree with what you said! However, just a point to consider....while it is true that discussions such as the current one on the GB would not be picked up by the "NY Times"....:-)....don't believe that it couldn't sprout legs and get a life of its own outside Claudia's, and not a "good" life either, for all parties concerned (particularly for the person being discussed). It has happened in the past, unfortunately. Sometimes the consequences have been positive and sometimes, negative. IMHO, I just think it's something we should keep in the back of our minds when posting.

Highly interesting discussion about discussing how to discuss going on here and in the main GB.

Well, it shows we really are concerned about a man we do not know - which is probably very nice of us but maybe we should put our caritative energies into the unhappy people next door whom we might really be able to help. And in whose case we might be able to find out for sure whether they are unhappy or just in a bad mood. Aaaah, we are hilarious. I do not exclude myself, because Susan's report made me ponder AR's emotions, too. (Though my worry was rather whether AR was getting tired of making movies.) I should get a life, right? Maybe I should found a group: Obsessive AR Fans Anonymous (OAFA). Tagline: Why worry about your own life when you can worry about a stranger? I need a therapy for sure. But do I want one? Hmmmm

Naaaah, I think I am still respectful enough. Did not speculate openly and am very well aware that nothing is my business.

So, out of sheer respect I am not discussing AR and his state of mind in the main GB or here, but rather joined the discussion about discussing how to discuss a topic one should not.

Wow! Sorry for the musings. For sure this was less interesting than more tidbits from our favourite stranger's life. You may throw tomatoes at me now. I will be hiding behind my latest book: How to deal with AR's mood of the day. 365 tricks for every day of the year...

Chris, as ever, you are the voice of wisdom and diplomacy.  You're absolutely right, of course:  There's not going to be any understanding reached; there never is.    Discussions like these are best suited for LJ Land.   I do know better, but I blame the insomnia! LOL

You're right, too, that there is a lot more talk behind the scenes than on the boards.  The past personal attacks and name-calling have made people nervous, and that's completely understandable, IMO.

It's back to lurkdom for me!

Morning!
Jen, I know, I also think discussions like these are a positive thing but as Doris said, it's enough for someone to use ONE strong word and it's all down the drain because people will feel threatened.
In just a few words, this is what I think happened. Susan wrote a report. We had nothing to compare it to because no onle else we know went to the same event thus there was no alternative. This report was a bit (or a lot) different from what people expected so naturally some people were upset/frightened/etc and they started questioning themselves what could be the cause of it. Other people thought they shouldn't do it in a public forum. Some people were more concise, others tried their best to describe the problem in a way so that no one would get hurt by any future coments. NOW. There will be no understanding here, I can tell you this and I am 100% SURE! The discussion will probably stop when Claudia sets her foot in, one way or the other. Or when people get bored by this topic. Clean and simple. Now I'm not saying it's the right way to go. As Jen said, we should be able to talk (not fight over it) it through but the ones who do won't because they fear it. I won't go into details here. It's absurd but it's happening and it's happening on the main board especially.
I personally don't mind these discussions at all; I do mind personal attacks though and this happens quite a lot on the main board. Let's not bring that here, oky doky? Let's keep Dee happy.

Oh just one more thing for everyone who fears reporters will pick this up, let me just tell you that that won't be happening. IF they wanted to pick something on him, they would have attended the event. No serious article can be written based on the assumptions af a few fans who write a few coments on their break from work or school or whatever. That's rubbish, pardon my saying.

(Hello???? all you well-meaning fans, It's not your responsibility!

Don't take on others' problems, including AR's. What fans say is their responsibility. What happens with AR's career is his responsibility.  Let's not get so confused that we feel we are responsible for AR's feelings, other posters' attitudes, etc.

"It's not my responsibiity, it's not my responsibility...." what a joy to say this over and over whenever I use my  time worrying about what is not my responsibility. Try it! you can always go back to worrying about what ain't even your responsibiity.   I don't worry, I'm a cat!

BTW, not even Claudia, GA is responsible for what people post! rejoice! others' characters, habits, personalities, etc. is their own, not yours.

I guess it all depends on your interpretation of "hysteria".  What you may see as hysteria, I see as people just expressing their feelings and musing out loud (well, in written form) with like-minded fans.  Yes, I agree it gets a little monotonous when people essentially say the same things post after post.  But I can forgive that because everyone likes their turn to vent and there hasn't been a whole lot of AR news lately until Susan's post.  So the content of her post became the subject of the day.

I sincerely doubt that there will be any articles hitting the press based on what a few fans have written here.  And I really have no patience for those who hide behind fictitious names to scold people and then run off again.  Everyone has a right to their opinion and both sides have expressed themselves quite plainly today.  Isn't that what these boards are for after all?  So, let's stop throwing rocks at each other and get back to the one thing that we all agree on.  Alan Rickman:

Jen

Comments:

I don't think it's an argument, is it?  Just a difference of opinion, a discussion amongst folks with different perspectives.  I didn't see any name calling, rudeness, or pettyness, as there has sometimes been.  Sometimes I wonder if it's all right to have differing opinions in AR fandom . . . . That's kind of sad, I think.    One of the reasons I want to step back from it for a while.

Personally, I've never had an issue with "intimate" talk about AR's celebrity persona--the crazy observations, the fantasies, the obsessive analyzing of his hair, hands, clothes, manner of speaking, etc., etc., etc. is what fandom is about when you're gaga over someone.  At least, that's how I am.  My sole issue is with talking about the man's personal life and what may or may not be happening there.  I don't really feel it's any of our business.  I'd feel the same way if I saw anyone speculating about my husband, or myself, or any of you on the Internet.  It's just not cool, IMO.

Ellen's right, too, that a little spark of speculation in that area seems to grow into a fullblown hysteria at times.  The unnecessary worrying and fretting doesn't do anyone any good; if there's something to actually worry about, well, that's a bridge to be crossed whenever (IF ever) it presents itself.

Ellen

Dee, I don't think it's 'How intimate can we talk about Alan?' but, rather, "How hysterical are we going to get in public about an uncorroborated report that AR seemed not to be at his best last night?"

And some of the people involved are adults and long-time members of the GB.

This forum is equally public, of course.  Wide open to the press,  Ms. Parker, and  all the members and former members of the GB.

Next weekend the family is going to the pumpkin patch and we are picking out a couple of pumpkins etc. then on to a couple of orchards where you can watch the apples being pressed and the delicious aroma of applie pie in the air and fresh doughnuts. I have lost almost 20 pounds since summer so will just breath in the smells! HA HA-see you guys later

Sorry, ladies, but I need a little moan.

Last night looked like a good night to stay in - Dan Radcliffe on Extras, our team (Newcastle United) playing in the Uefa cup and Dogma on Channel 4. We had a power cut. The third in a week. First one was on Sunday - all day until midnight. Fixed by importing a temporarary generator into the village. That was OK until Monday evening when the s*dding gypsies stole the cables. Cables replaced early Tuesday morning and the thiefs tried again at 7pm yesterday. Power restored sometime overnight.

At least we got to see the second half of the footie at the pub (and they won ) at the expense of stinking of smoke when we came out. You can watch Extras on the net at the BBC. But Dogma is going to have to wait until Stelios sends me it on the DVD rental.

But I was CROSS

Thats better, thank you your patience

Sno, I definitely agree with you about Snape. In the HP Universe, there's the villain (LV) and there's the hero (HP). Severus is such a delicious character (I love using that word to describe him....and I guess Alan as well!), written deliberately ambiguous by Jo. Perhaps that's why there's so much written about him: he's a definite shade of gray!

There are very few writers in HP fandom, IMO, who can write Snape very well and true to character; where you can read their story and not have to suspend your disbelief; where you can actually picture him saying or doing what they wrote. There are alot of good stories, but so many of them are written with Severus being OOC. Whether it's done deliberately or not, I don't know. My own personal preference is for the author to write him as in canon as possible. Otherwise, all you'd be reading is someone else's vision of a character named Snape.

Your house sounds positively lovely, BTW! Hope you have many, many happy times there!

Chris, we actually bought a 106 yr old, 2˝ story, Victorian style home on the bluffs of the Mississippi River in Illinois, just north of St. Louis Missouri. It's a gorgeous historic river town and there are more old, historic homes in this town than you can shake a stick at. We love it. But moving things up three flights of stairs is exhausting. However, my ass should be in better shape soon!!

Do Snape? Well, yes I'd do him. But I don't think that was the question. Sure, JKR invented Snape, but he doesn't get flushed out that much. She leaves lots of holes in the Snape character (on purpose). Snapeforte writes from Snape's POV and does so well at living inside his head. He is exactly what I would think Snape would be if you spent a day with him and hearing his thoughts. "Soulplay" Snape is a little darker than JKR's, also a little snarkier. Killer dry wit and sexy in a very slithery way. He's not AR Snape....it's pretty strict canon, but you can see a bit of a young AR when you put your mind to it. Snapeforte also really put a lot into fleshing out the character of Rita Skeeter and when she writes the interaction between she and Snape, it's really dynamic and titillating.

It's a must read. Really.

And as for the pics of Alan, i really don't like when they take surprise shots of Alan. Alfan-- The BEST SS fan fiction (and just HP fan fiction in general) is "Soulplay" by Snapeforte. I first read this as hungrily and as absorbed as if it were a real JKR book. This woman does Snape better than JKR, frankly. And her writing and understanding of the HP world amazes me. I'm in awe. http://www.the-archive.net/viewstory.php?sid=1515

My fan fiction is currently off line because it's being beta'd, FINALLY.

Hikity: I didn't mean the narrator. Otto Sander has a brilliant voice. What I meant with the "voice over" is this singer in the music score". If you open the film web-site and leave the music turned on you hear this singing. That is what I mean, this "hu-uuh-uuh". It grinds my nerves. It turns up now and then in the film. Why could they have used real lyrics?

Just my two cents.

Chalebh, hmmm, thank YOU! So, you think of the poor kids and forget about me, the poor teacher, grummel, grummel.

I am going to record the 15 minutes for you. I didn't quite understand your mentioning the "female voice-over" for 150 minutes (which 150 minutes?)- the film itself has a very good male voice-over (in both the English and the German version). I haven't yet checked, but the English voice is soooo familiar to me that I think he reads books - I have to find out

Pudd, thanks for your encouragement  Walking Garbage Can  What a pity we do celebrate such a day here in GermanyTeacher Day
let's introduce it!

Pudd, go and see the film - it's a great film and the OooA does not only look good, he acts very well. For me, Grenouille is the "reverse hero" (my own creation and I know I have to explain it - but not now)

And another word about the Perfume film score. What I dislike is this female "voice over". It really gets annoying over the 150 minutes. Because it is used in every suitable and unsuitable situation.

The interior even has little lights that actually work with poinsettias on little tables... Can't wait to set it up..I am now looking for other little accesories to go along with it. I usually only buy one piece per year and also love the pieces from the Mitford series by Jan Karon. I have the Chapel where Father Tim preaches in the stories. I also have a couple of Thomas Kincaide pieces. They all look nice together with the fake snow etc.

It's true if you read the rest of the "news".  Actually,  it means AR was seen at the ARDH by Dumpy, but AR was "seen" only in photos!!!

This is what drives me crazy about journalisam, sometimes, Vera. It causes people to jump to conclusions and can exploit their lack of education. It also makes some people cynical about what they read. Sure it's a great attention-getter, but the real story is often a disappointment. It's not your fault, that's how things are often done all over reading material, the media, etc. But, darn it! (no malice intended, we need news! thanks!)

Puddingdale, thank you for your opinion, it's been very kind of you to muse like that. And thank you for the condolences.

I must say I have changed and grew since the time of my mad messages. Yes, I remeber the time when I craved to contact Rima by any way, I was opiated probably.  But whatever, I must confess I look at some my previous messages on the Internet sites and I merely say myself:" Was it me???" You see, time alters a person, and it influente me as well. All I can say is that I was too green and verdant: without any experience and comprehension what life is actually, how I shoul act and what demeanor I can have under no circumstances, that is it.

Those ladies could explain everything like you did, it would be much more appropriate and polite. I felt odd to know that they knew me while I did not know them at all, even their names.

So, okay, we should cease discussing it ASAP, so let's drop it entirely.

BTW, I was not enamoured with the wig either, Alan looked a bit humble, not so passionate. Amyway, black hair suit hin much more and this wig made him look a bit preposterious, I do not know exactly, but it seemed not only to me. But his acting is miraculous, no doubts!!! I wish I watched this movie once more, so I've got such an opportunity, I can arrange it. Hope to watch it again!

Good luck!!!

Make that "jetlag".

Yulia, I read the comments about you at that Flickr site. I guess people got all worked up about that "hip" comment of yours. You are right, they have formed their opinion and are not likely to change it just because you try to defend yourself. I guess the best way to deal with it, is to ignore it. This guestbook here (the OT one) should be a safe haven for you - I hope. Because it is what it was created for. Any discussions allowed, no matter how weird. And hopefully insults kept to a minimum.

To be  honest though, some of your comments have caused similar reactions in me as in those (admittedly rude) ladies over at Flickr. Please, I do not want to insult you in any way, but you often come across as a hardcore fan - or even more than that. You speak of fantasies that might offend many and that might indeed be labelled "stalking" in a wider sense of the word. Like trying to call Rima or writing to Ms Parker all the time - or claiming to be in love with Rima and Alan etc. Much of that is an invasion of their privacy. You must understand that people will draw their conclusions and that some will be offended by your comments as much as you were by those who criticised you. Of course, I do not approve of the rude vocabulary they used during the "discussion" - they never gave you a chance to defend yourself. But please, think about why people might react so aggressively.

I hope I have not caused any offense now. It surely is not my intention to insult you or anyone here. You often post interesting pictures and articles and have kept squeeing to a minimum for a while

I feel sorry for your loss. I lost both my grandparents two years ago and I know how it can hurt. So, if this site and the postings give you some comfort, take it all in.

Haven't seen Perfume yet. Somehow I shy away from it because of Grenouille's nasty habits... And because I am not sure whether I will be disappointed. I read the book as a student and am not sure whether it can be transformed into film.

Lola and others, I had to be in the centre of the discussion about this picture but right there. I must say I am completely offended that those two ladies were so rude and arrogant with me and they ignored my anwers. I've been visiting Flickr for a long and always made comments, so Arabella was not exceptional person, whose page I used to visit as well. I did not say anything her about Alan or Rima, just posted a comment, and these women...I do not wish to hear about them, they are absolutely intrusive. They decided I was going to ingratiate with Arabella to contact Alan, what a rubbish!  ROTFL They do not know for a fact what they say. I am not a stalker, I love visiting a lot of Alan's sites, but nothing more, how dare they be so mean and affirm such conclusions at once? They took a look at the sites I visit and made it clear for themselves that I was a stalker. What a foolish acting!  Comedian  It's laughable already.

So, tell what you think now, but please do not criticise me so crully if you are like these impolite women, I have just arrived from my grand father's funeral, it's enough sufferings for me today.

Good luck to all!!!

Hello ladies,

I'm back in good old Germany.

I just checked the news about the Perfume premiere. It took me about 2 hours.

Seems my postcards had been quicker than I expected. I was told the mail might took three or more weeks from India. By the way could you imagine it, its cheeper to phone from India to Europe than to write an e-mail. I phoned home and it did cost me about 50 cent for a two minute call.

Yesterday I've seen The Perfume. But I think it wasn't the wisest idea. I suffered from the jet lag and the film is very epic. Just like the book. The only fact which kept me from sleeping in the cinema was Alan.  Lucky he appeared in the second part.

I really liked the film. But the film music is horrible, sorry to say it. Tykwer should stick to directing.

I read somewhere that the reason he is still wearing the wig is that in the original screen play the actors were suppose to be picked up by the aliens at thier homes. But it was cut and we were left with the wig and the fridge scene......... Hi Marlene,
WOW-what a fun organization to belong to!!! I know I have mentioned it here before and don't mean to bore anyone with it, but back in the late 70's or early 80's, my friend from Scotland who was corresponding with Leonard Nimoys mother Dora, came to visit. Leonard was in the Fiddler on the Roof at the North Shore Theater in Beverly, MA so we went to see it! He was walking in (the old days you couldnt get this close anymore) and she practically jumped him--he gave us his autograph with his picture etc. and the photo is one of a kind because of the look of surprise on his face!! LOL-I will try to get my husband to show me how to put a picture on here over the weekend as I am computer brain dead. We also went to Milton, MA where the parents lived and met Max (his father) and Dora (his mother) at their house. We have photos of that too. They were so nice and you can see why Leonard is such a gentleman.
Off to work in a few Marlene-Live long and prosper!!!-Pam

Well, Chris, you asked for it: First, with Microsoft Movie Maker, I made a snapshot of each frame I wanted to use . . . about 50 of them. Then, if the size isn't what you want you need to cut it down. For instance, the Perfume laugh video was far too large so I had to cut it down but keep Alan centered (the camera really moved around in the original). So you have to find a feature that doesn't move, even if he does - I picked the back of his chair. For the top, I picked a feature in the background and for the right side, a design element in the wall behind him. Then I cropped each one using the reference points. Since the camera moved up and down, the arm of his chair went in and out of the picture so I had to paste it into some pics and crop the bottom from others. Then I fined-tuned the size, measuring pixels from the top left corner. Finally, I opened the first pic in Corel Photopaint and converted it to a movie, then added all of the others. Then I chose an earlier frame and added a few backwards so it wouldn't jump too much from end back to start. Voila! An animated gif! And only 2 or 3 nights of meticulous work that only a mildly obsessive/compulsive person could enjoy!  (me, after gif-making) The MoM laugh just needed to be cropped around Alan's head (there were no background anchors 'cause he moved so much) and resampled (the size of the actual picture changed).

Don't worry about me talking about stuff in the "past" All of that is closure for me with a lot learned and no hard feelings. I was just trying to let Doris know it happened to me but we all have to move on from it. I guess it is too painful for her. Oh well, I hope eventually she learns to forget such as I did and move on and stop talking about it. No more said on this from me guys-sorry to bore anyone.
I thought those red star trek outfits in the photo were pretty good along with Alan's picture in the backround. All I could imagine was his face in Galaxy Quest with disdain for his role at the beginning of the movie.(Makes me want to watch it again soon!)
I love the old star trek shows. Not sure why probably because I was only 13 or so when they came on and when I watch them now, they are so corny.
I am also a big star wars fan and when the star wars hit the theater with theie re- release back in the 90's early 2000's my whole family decked out in Star war gear and headed for the theater and had a blast with the rest of the fans.
Have a fun day everyone-it is like summer around here-probably close to 80-by thursday its back in the 60's though. Thats New England for you!! Never the same.

Oh for God's sake! It's just a photograph.Yes, if you ask me, I also thougth there might be some missunderstanding because a more personal photograph would have looked more 'real'. To me. But hey, that's a great artistic picture, so I understand why someone would prefer it. BUT that is NOT the issue here. Alfan thought the picture was a fake. She never heard of this person before or visited her site. I think that's understandable, plus from what I saw, she's not the jealous type. So we're not talking about envy or malice here.Let's not exagerate. And I'm NOT taking sides. If someone else (Lola or timid lurker in this case) knows more, let's all share what we know or what we believe in a civilizied manner. I, for one, apreciate any information. On the other hand, I'm not bothered by someone saying "hey, look, I personally don't believe they're acting like a couple". Everyone's entitled to their opinion and these kind of discussions have never caused any conflict on this GB so far so please let's keep it that way. Personally I think we should avoid talking about his family in the future.
Doris, no I haven't seen Sevvy around lately, I hope I'll catch you both in the chat room sometime.
One more thing, and this goes to Doris & Pam. I know it must have been a nasty experience but talking about it here will definetly pi** someone off eventually. I'm so sorry this has happened to you both and maybe we can talk about sometime in the chat room or by email. Here, some people might feel offended and this vicious circle will never end.
Cheers all!

Let me refresh your memory, Alfan. This is what you wrote.

I dont know, it looks to set up for me. I mean, OK her Uncle is famous but dont you think she would have a more personal picture of Alan her uncle of more than 35 years. I mean one that he didnt send out as puplicity shot photo's that he sends to his fans or signs at autograph sessions. Usually you dont have a 8 x 10 picture of your uncle asyou should have one of your uncle and your aunt. Its just to set up. The pictures behind them look more like the ones that should be displayed, not a huge blow up of her uncle that happens to be facing a camera. I may be wrong but its just my opinion.

That speaks volumes, so dont try to backpedal. Questioning why she has that photo, implying that it's a set-up ... You dont have to come out and say "I think this girl is a fake!" it's all there.

OH, and but the way ... I may be wrong, but it's just my opinion. *snort*

I never usually bite back but i have never been attacked before.

First of all,  did i say that that isnt Rima's neice--NO. Did i say she is fake---NO, at what point did i say anything about her life, at what point did i say anything about her at all. At what point did i say she was flaunting anything,  did i even mention anything about any relationship of Alan and Rima at all,  ( did i subliminaly write something about them not being a real couple because i dont see anything).

I never even ever visited her site ( this was the first i ever heard of him having a niece in USA, i wouldnt even know anyting about her not mentioning anyone on any site --because i never knew it existed----

AND

I am not some creepy fangirl stalker, i am an adult 38 year old woman who enjoys Alan's movies, not once did i ask him or his agency for an autograph, not once did i ever, ever try to contact him. I enjoy talking and meeting( Vicki ) people who share similar interests, its nice to talk to people who share my feelings on movies and whatever else we can talk about. I dont have pictures of Alan all over my house or my computer screen, i dont spend all day searching Alan on the computer.  I  never visited her site, never knew she had one and never plan to visit it, i just clicked on a page that was displayed here.

I dont even know who the hell Arebella is----when did i mention that name,,,,,,,,,for gosh sakes.

You know, you are right about me not knowing about why she has that photo, and to be honest, who the hell cares when it comes down to it. Maybe i did assume something but I NEVER ASSUMED ANYTHING ABOUT HER, ALAN, RIMA OR ANYTHING ABOUT HER PERSONALLY. I MADE A COMMENT ON A PICTURE, THATS IT, A FRICKEN PICTURE. EVERYONE WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS WHAT I AM LIKE HERE AND THAT I HAVE NEVER SAID A BAD WORD ABOUT ANYTHING RELATED TO ALAN OR ANYONE RELATED TO ALAN.

Get off your "the great defender of Alan" horse, it isnt wanted or needed. I will say no more said, dead issue.

Claudia, if i have spoken wrongly, then you may erase my comments but i feel i had to defend myself.

All you have to do is look at the wedding pictures to know that Arabella (the girl in the Star Trek picture) is really, truly Rima's niece -- the family resemblance is very strong between Rima and Rima's sister, who is Arabella's mother.  I don't get the suspicion either!  Envy is more like it, methinks.

Lola
9/18/06 at 06:40 PM

Comments:

Oh, come on!!!!!!!!  Why would she "set up" the photo???  For what purpose??  To what end?  Jeez, the girl has a blog and a Flickr site, she posts lots of stuff on it, lots of pictures and as far as I can see flipping through it, only one reference in 2 years to Rickman, and one picture of Aunt Rima.  This girl is not flaunting her relationship with Alan Rickman. To her credit, she has not bothered to even answer any of the stupid fawning comments made to her about him!

Why does everything connected to AR and anyone who is genuinely connected to him have to be under such suspicion from you people???  Rima is under suspicion because they "dont act like a real couple".  Now this woman is under suspicion because the photo of AR "isn;t the type of photo someone should display of their uncle." SEZ WHO?  Everyone is different, everyone has different ways of doing things -- and there are a million stories that could go with why she has that particular photo. Who are you to make assumptions about her life??  How dare you?

This woman didnt ask for creepy stalker fangirlies to find her site and make ignorant comments about her. Remember that. She's just minding her business living a normal life, and someone somehow found her site. She didn't even tag this picture  "Rickman", so how anyone found it is beyond me.  I'm sorry Alfan, but your comment is totally warped.

Well, the woman in the picture IS his niece (or, at least, Rima's). So why is it wrong or unusual for her to have a picture of her uncle in her home?  I don;t understand.

IMHO, the creepy part of this is that the niece and Rima are being stalked by weirdos who want to use them to get to AR.

Chris,
Thought I would update you on the church. The person broke both doors off their hinges. (both the ministers and the secretary's) and all the wood etc. was all over the place this morning. What a mess. Thank goodness no one was injured. Apparently, they didnt take anything of value such as computers, laptops, they ended up with a grand total of $2.00 for their efforts!! All the women are on a buddy system from now on.
I know what Doris means about being harrassed as I was also and someone claimed I was following them around etc. I wasnt-I was just responding to posts as I saw fit, so I stopped. I also went under a different ID for a while but someone was doing to me what Doris is talking about about revelaing the persons id etc.
I guess thats why I dont come in too often either and when I do, I keep it in general etc, .
For the most part, I try to ignore the taunts etc. (not recently but in the past) and find this little group over here is wonderful.
Have a good one everyone and keep your chin up Doris. Things will work out I am sure. There is always a rainbow after the storm...

Doris, I'm sure there are many people her who would WANT you to post. If you feel uncomfortable about posting in the main GB, then do it here. Also, I think when you notice someone posting under your name, the best thing to do, IMO, is to just come right out and say it, there's no point in leaving. That way people will never know the truth about you.  I didn't quite get what you meant about CatsPlay, can you explain it again? I hope there weren't any problems there, I for one, can't remmeber.

Oh and for anyone who might feel offended by our discussion, it wasn't Doris' fault, I asked her about it and frankly I don't think keeping quiet and not discussing certain problems is the right way to get through life. I thank you for your patience.

Hi guys, havent been in here for a while, but cant sleep and wanted to share something. (by the way-nice to see again you Dumpy Doris-hope you have had a great summer!)
I have a part time job at our church as Sexton (a glorified title for cleaning woman-HA HA) Anyway, after I had been in there today, the minister called and said his office door and the secretary's had been taken off their hinges and someone had broken in. They are not sure if the guy was hiding up there when I was working or not-how creepy is that?? I usually don't think about stuff like that and just do my job, but the place is huge (3 floors) and built in 1832 with all kinds of nooks and crannies and a few friendly ghosts of course!!!.
Everything looked fine when I left today, but now I wonder if maybe someone was hiding there watching-there is an AA group that meets every Saturday plus we have a rehab group next door that also comes. It is our churches policy to give back to the community like this and we let them use the church as our mission program.
It should be interesting tomorrow, as we are having a special meeting to replace a roof etc. Guess we have to also put in the budget for two new doors..thank goodness no one was hurt and nothing stolen. We think they were looking for cash. They didnt take the computers/laptops, so who knows?? I'll make sure my husband goes with me from now on when I check the place out on Saturdays!!
Please keep the AR photos coming as they are taking my mind off it.
Have a good one and hope to get back here again soon.

What's worse is when someone says something nasty about someone and signs my name that's happened, too. I guess I've gotten a little sensitive about it.

Can you imagine seeing a nasty, foul post with your name as the poster and the person written about yells at you and holds a grudge forever and ever and you didn't even write it? Whew! thanks y'all for letting me vent.

Hello     Morning ...I think today the weather will change - what a huge pity we have been enjoying very fine weather for 10 days now (this "quotation" is from Margaret in S&S BTW).Ice Cream Cone

First things first: Catsplay, Dee, forgive me, I haven't yet had time even to look into your hilarious LJs - Dee most probably still waits for some more details , but bronchitis, mother-in-law in hospital, exam preparations and posting pics here are filling my day + from time to time: SweepingMopping  and furthermore, hubby wants to chat with me in the evenings

Chris, the black coat is a jacket and you might have it, too, cz it's from H & M, hihihi, but some (hmmm 2 or 3??) years old I think. Tanja is as slim with 20 as she was with 16, 17 or 18. She has never had problems with her figure (inherited from her father), she never knows how much she weighs (sigh) and she has so beautiful teeth that our dentist jumped from his chair the first time he saw them. And a typical situation when you are together with an obviously beautiful woman: When we sat outside the Italian restaurant near our hotel the first evening in London (a table for two people only) enjoying a lovely dinner we had 4 men sitting around us after an hour or so. They took a chair and just set down..obviously Tanja attracts all sorts of types of men, hihihi. One of them, a very nice Anglo-Irish even didn't ask, he sat down and ordered food as well and then started to talk about theatre, literature, Irish Renaissance, acting (he was an actor but is a writer now). Everybody assured me how beautiful she is...fortunately I am her mother and didn't mind, rofl. This was a great start of our 4-day trip and it just went on like that...

Ladies, for the coming weeks I won't post that much here anymore since I really have to read and learn a lot now. I hope you enjoyed the pics of our Man - I cross my fingers that you all get the opportunity to see Snow Cake and Perfume very soon! And may be the man himself in the near future

The "plotline" of Extras for the 1st series is Ricky Gervais plays a would be actor, Andy, who has a useless agent who only ever gets him work as a movie extra. As we know being an extra isn't being an actor and Andy spend all his time trying to ingratiate himself with the star to get a speaking part. His best friend is Maggie another extra. Maggie spends her time trying to get off with any of the "proper" actors who will have her. They really are a sad pair but so funny.

In the first series he had Kate Winslet who was playing a nun in a war movie. In between takes she offered Maggie hilarious sex advice and she was really foulmouthed!

The great thing is he gets these top actors and writes a really funny srotyline for them he had Patrick Stewart as this hammy luvvie who was obsessed with nudity.

At the end of the last series Andy actually got one of his scripts accepted and I think the new series is a follow on to that.

Tomorrow night's first episode stars Orlando Bloom and apparently he spends his time badmouthing Johnny Depp and being a general drip.

They've got Daniel coming up as well as David Bowie.

Sno, "Extras" is a regular show in England handled by Ricky Gervais (the one who originated "The Office" series in England & who engineered its success here as well as a weekly sitcom). He has celebrities making guest appearances also.

I hope someone capture that segment on the 28th (if the clip is any indication, it should be a riot!)

I thought things were a little quiet at your end lately! Hope the move is going well (at least some important things are done: "the internet"! :-)

That "Extras" bit was a SCREAM!!! I knew Dan had a lot more in him than just Harry. So is this a regular show or what??? Funny, in America "Extra" is one of those entertainment news shows so I guess I was expecting an interview.

BTW, been gone for a while...don't know if anyone missed me.... But I will be in and out for the next bit because we are moving. Luckily, being the internet junkies that my fella and I are, internet connection is one of the first things taken care of in the new house! So I'll be around.

A little off topic, but has anyone seen the clip of Dan Radcliffe on "Extras"? I saw it on www.hpana.com and it really is hysterical. The show is supposed to beshown on Sept.28 I think. LOL...His "pr" machine is really at work, trying to break him out of the HP personna!

I should change my identity as well, hmmm...No, don't worry.

Now, the fever is more or less gone with the antibiotics (I haven't yet tried chicken soup but it sounds very interesting - thanks you for all your pieces of advice and good wishes) and Tanja and I thought yesterday evening of going to Cologne tonight (+ we got 2 tickets) only to change our minds today again - reasons for this I posted on the GB.

ArdentJan, my long vid clip from Alan on the stage has 113 MB  - yousendit allows 100 MB only. I thought I record it on CD and send it to someone as Daydreamer who then would do some magic with all the vid clips, only if she agrees of course...Susan made a short one of me and Alan, too, sweet girl.

Dee, yes, we talked - first about S&S and he signed: Best wishes, Alan Rickman above his photo, but mostly about Tom Tykwer, he wanted to know why I already had all those autographs from TT, JS and the "dirt manager" and Alan's stay in Germany. To be honest I enjoyed the long chat with Marc Evans far more (shame on me, ). I like him

Chris! about IDs. Just go to above link and click on guestbook. You'll see for yourself just one example of a place where it's OK to post as someone else and even pick on one particular individual; of course, the abuser ususally insists their victim be silent.

HEY Chris, yes I saw that SC was going to be shown in Halifax..bummer because I was there a few weeks ago

However, before I knew this I had already made plans to go to Toronto. So the hotel is booked, the train tickets have been purchased(it was way too expensive to fly),and now I am waiting with great anticipation. However there is no official mention on theTIFF website saying if the man will be in attendence or not. I am thinking that there is a much better chance he will show up in Toronto than Halifax though....
