What is your location? Arkansas Comments: Dee--Love your commentary, he sounds luscious. What questions were asked and what was his response? I'd like to know what the gen'l conversation was about the play. By the way what did you think of the play???
What is your location? Italy Comments: Hi girls!

What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://deeindiana.livejournal.com/ Comments: Thanks Sue - I think it's the same news. Not sure why the link doesn't work. It's at http://www.whatsonstage.com under "news". Glad I'm not the only one who could n't quite figure it out. A play about a play, indeed...? I put the next installment of meeting Alan for those who are interested.
Comments: "Practicum Theatre invites you to join them for an evening of diverse short plays inspired by 'My name is Rachel Corrie' and the banning of it. "
Um, I made the mistake of thinking this was more than it was - plays about plays. Seems odd.
Comments: Dee, looks like some sort of theatre workshop thing. See HERE
Comments: Sorry Dee, the link's not working.
Comments: I just found this "breaking news" about MNiRC on whatsonstage.com. Can someone explain it please? http://www.whatsonstage.com/dl/page.php?page=details&id=L1515745669
Comments: Oh I just managed to get on the Perfume pic page with the link on Suzannes. I am really looking forward to seeing this film. Anyone else reminded of Robert Hardy in S&S in that Dustin Hoffman pic?

What is your location? Recovering from multiple AR-induced heart attacks! Comments: QwertyFlo - there is no such thing as a picture of Alan Rickman that is too large! That's worse than saying "Sorry - I gave you too much chocolate." Those are the best yet from Perfume, I think. Thank you.
Dee - Fabulous pictures! He looks so happy. Waiting with baited breath for your word pictures.
Sue - Happy Birthday!
Wow! What a couple of days! That trailer still makes me cry whenever I watch it.
Comments: Is charming really enough, dear Dee?? He was in a great mood and I told him so and he laughed. Alan is a very nice, outgoing man, who looks even better in reality. We were only a few fans outside and that perhaps made the whole difference. Susan, her lovely daughter, Dee and I were very lucky, that is for sure. And he is wonderful to young people so attentive. have to go ladies, invited to English dinner... Tell you more on Monday!!
Comments: Qwertyflo, big is great, thank you so much!!!
Comments:
Sorry it is too big I know. But I do not know how make it smaller. I hope It is new one, at least.

What is your location? England Comments: *Still on a high after watching TEH trailer*
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUE!
Thank you Dee for the wonderful photos from last night. Looking forward to reading all about it. I really like your writing style so I know your analysis will be a good one.
Can I just remark, doesn't Alan look really happy of late, with last night and the earlier Haymarket event? Now I'm not saying that he usually looks unhappy just that there seems to be that extra relaxed and content aura about him. He looks wonderful.
We have an AR drought for so long, then it's like waiting for a bus; three come along together. WONDERFUL!!!
As to the wondering when Snow Cake will be released I think I am right in saying that Marc Evans said seeing as it has a snow theme that he wanted it released later in the year - autumn I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong.
What is your location? England Comments: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE
Lovely pictures Dee. Can't wait to hear all about it. Glad you had a good time
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://deeindiana.livejournal.com/ Comments: I posted the photos from last night Q&A on my lj. I haven't written up my "report" yet -- it was simply too much to absorb and spew out right now. I'm a bit overwhelmed. A bit...? *snort* I'm absolutely dazed. I PROMISE I'll tell all about it - and I'm sure Hikity will too when she gets home. I just need a little time. But go look at the photos. Alan was absolutely charming.
What is your location? Germany Comments: INTJ, Thank you so much for the downloadable trailer.

Comments: Yulia, weren`t you living in Russia? Have you movde to Mexico? What do you mean you can`t watch it? The movie?
SUE! Yeah, i wonder what Dee`s doing. Wait a second! When was she supposed to go to Q&A? Today? Or was it yesterday? Oh and when she does post, can you drop us a hint over the OT page, please? Thank you.
What is your location? Mexico Comments: Great things are happenning!!!!!!! But i feel sorry that I can not watch it in my country... Yulia
What is your location? drumming fingers waiting for Dee to post in her lj! Comments: Do you mean this one Chris???
What is your location? London Comments: Happy Birthday ELISA , SUE & Amber_Dragon
Comments: Alma - Hmm, come to think about it...OH PLEASE! *slap* That would be SO wrong! I`m sure it has NOTHING to do with it. (I can`t believe someone actually tought about that! ROFL) I loved the way the trailer was edited. I`m pretty sure it`s about giving himself another chance (although not in that *cough cough* particular field). I loved that sequence where he says "I`m starting to enjoy this..being with you, being with Linda...being with myself...again" and then there`s that image with him in his car changing his glasses. (It reminded me of RedTango`s Agent Rickman gallery ) Oh, and I`m not even gonna mention the final pose! UPS! Seems like I`ve mentioned it already! OH and whoever said that image of him right before he hugs Linda is totally thud worthy - my thoughts EXACTLY!
On a different nore, who purchased the rights for the film again?
What is your location? Italy Comments: INTJ - Thank you sooo much! I can't wait to see it, stupid hamster-speed connection... Sue - Happy Birthday!
Comments: Happy Birthday Sue
Comments: Thanks INTJ for the hi-res trailer Thanks for all the birthday wishes too.
What is your location? Arkansas Comments: Oh wow, oh wow--I finally was able to download the trailer--I can't wait --it looks fabulous.
Thank you everyone for the links you're great!
Comments: Oh wow, that came out all wrong. I meant that lots of guys have that problem, especially old guys. So I've heard. I don't have experience with old guys. Not that old guys are bad! Ah, I need to go to bed. Or take a cold shower. It was an odd quote to end the trailer with though, right? I'm gonna assume that its supposed to mean something else beyond the obvious. *switches off brain for the night*
Comments: ALMA!!!!
*snort*
Comments: Happy Birthday Sue!!!
PS: CatsPlay, you ARe an angel! Thanks again for the email.
Comments: Oh man, trailery goodness. So, little question. Do y'all think that when Trinity says "I think you're ready to try again" at the end of the trailer she's referring to something errr else or just your old male troubles? I mean, I guess Rickman is supposed to be an older character in the movie, hehe. Ahhh, what am I saying, it happens to lots of men, hurrr.
What is your location? UK Comments: I'm sorry fro asking again and I know its probably been told a few times but whe nis Snow Cake coming to the cinema in UK? I was under the impression it was March or April but nothing yet lol Dont ask me where I got that from, I probably dreamt it lol. So please if you do know can you tell me. Thanx Oh and btw, thanx for the trailer!! Sarah!
Comments: Thank you for the downloadable versions INTJ and Linda. And Happy Birthday sue!!! The woman who first told us abut the trailer. Got to go now, have to squee... *lol*
What is your location? Boston Comments: Michele- I *might.* I kinda want to see the one on Thursday since that's the one he'd probably show up at, if he showed up at all. But don't quote me on that Sunday would definitley be better for me, since I have class on Thursday. The only way I could go to the showing on Thursday would be if I went to class then took the bus for 5 hours, arriving, watching movie, maybe buying some shoes- hehe, then going back on the night bus then going to class. Erm, sorry for thinking out loud. Before I didn't think it was worth it but the new trailers + AR being in NYC.... Agggh, decisions decisions. THANK YOU FOR THE TRAILER!!! I love that pic of AR's ear and Carrie Anne Moss's lips. Her lips are very recognizable. I am looking forward to some Snape x Trinity lovin'
Comments: INTJ: THANKS A LOT!!!!- Sorry can't write anymore: I have to see it again right now.....
Comments: Thank you INTJ, for the hi-res trailer. It is simply amazing! The look on his face after Linda asks him to hug her is priceless! If anything was ever thud-worthy, that's it. Is it fall yet?
Comments: ...............................................................................
(Me, speechless after watching the trailer - eventually!)
Thank you, INTJ, for uploading that clip so quickly as it has enabled me to watch it NOW! If I'd waited until I got home, sleep would be a long time coming. Oh this film HAS to be released - SOON!
Comments: INTJ, you're awesome! Your smaller version works best on my old computer. Thanks also to Linda, and to Sue (happy birthday) for the heads-up via Suz.

What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Best Birthday Wishes, Sue! Hope you have an enjoyable day!
Thanks so much for the link to that trailer! After having a thoroughly crappy day, it was nice to come home to a surprise like this!
Some of my favorite lines: "Be careful, Mr. Shifty", "...actually, she's my wife" and "it's alright, I know all about autism, I've seen that film." There's a few of us on the GB here who can related to that comment!
Has anyone heard from Dee or Hikity? I've been thinking about them all day!
What is your location? GA Comments: Happy Birthday, sue!!!!! Hope you'll have a wonderful day!
What is your location? England Comments: OH MY WORD!! Thank you so very much for the Snow Cake trailer. I'm sorry please forgive me but I feel a string of SQUEEEEES coming on. That is so fantastic. Alan looks wonderful. Oh but when he cried and the taster of those @!#%#@ scenes.

Comments: Kathy, *waves*! Will email you soon! Can't believe you are nearly at the end of your course!
Sue, great find. I shall have to wait with bated breath to watch it though as I'm at work and the PC's here don't like media player files. (blimin' things!) Caps look gorgeous though! I really hope the film gets a disribution date here soon. All these film festival showings are great but I hope it doesn't mean that no one will take it on, a la TSfJG!

What is your location? unpeeling my eyes from the monitor What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://home.earthlink.net/~sa.pe/APLhome.html Comments: Oh, so THAT'S what the title means! Thank you so much for nabbing this, Sue! (how long does it take a blown kiss to fly across the Atlantic?)

Thank you SUE! sorry, couldn't help it!
Comments: Ooh! Ooh! A mega Snow Cake trailer on Fortissimfilms. Thanks to Suzanne for the link. WARNING-MASSIVE SPOILERS!!!!
Comments: Daydreamer, I think you emailed me once while we were in chatroom. I lost your email but I would like to tell you something, can you please contact me? Thank you- Sorry everyone for the OT. Lex, thank you for the info about AR and smoke, I asked once without getting an answer, thank you
yulia, have some chocolate and it will help you for sure!!! Live Journal: many AR fans put the link near to their name when they post here....just check who of them add this url
What is your location? London Comments: Yulia, I'm with Elaine. Quit smoking and listen to someone who enjoys cancer-sticks! Also I'm a social smoker I know it's better to not smoke and pester others with the stink. Btw. Alan Rickman himself said he DID smoke in the past ( I believe more puffing away the fags!) His partner Rima is a smoker although you'll hardly see her in public with a cigarette in her hands. Yulia, get back to senses, will you? 15 is quite young to smoke and risk your health.
What is your location? Mexico Comments: Elaine, Yes, I am a bit young to smoke however I do it because of some grounds. Maximum I smoke 3 cigarettes a day and it does help me. Who is on Live Journal? I heard there were good societies devoted to Alan. Can anybody hint me or tell their "location"? Thank you. Best wishes Yulia
Comments: Yulia, aren't you a little young to smoke? You do realise the damage smoking does, not only to your body, but to eveyone around you that has to breathe in the residue of your cigarettes? I would urge you to give up or you aren't going to see old bones.
Juliet, wonderful news, keep on rocking!
Claudia, I was most upset that AR could not be at the Curzon in person, as I'm only 30 minutes up the road from there. We used to have a caravan about 5 minutes away, too!
What is your location? Mexico Comments: Hello Ladies! Reedpipe, thanks fro the info you gave. Dee! I merely melt while hearing all the words about Great Britain! Claudia thanks for that information, but do europeans smoke a lot or not? I am just interested. I smoke and I like it very much indeed, because I buy only expensive cigarettes but even such ones are not useful I suppose... I like those pics and you? I have made them by "Print Screen SysRq" while watching a clip.
And to all of you !!!!!!!!!!! Best wishes Yulia
What is your location? GA Comments: Dee for checking in with us! I'm with Ali-Pat on the "slightly contained impatience" for your report! I can not believe you have a sunburn!
Yulia, as far as anyone knows, AR does not smoke. The most credible report I've read came from a friend who saw a performance of Private Lives in New York. After the performance, she went for dinner at a restaurant and was seated at a table next to party of some of the cast and crew from PL. Unfortunately, AR was not among the party but Adam Godley was. A conversation was struck up between my friend and AG and the topic of smoking came up because there was quite a bit of smoking in the play. Adam Godley told her that the cigarettes in the play were herbal and that none of the cast smoked.
Happy happy Friday everyone!!!!
Can't wait to hear from you lucky ones that will be at the play tonight!

Dee, you intrepid traveler, I await your next report with only slightly contained impatience.
On a side note, I finally got to the Snape chapter of Mapping the World of Harry Potter and I enjoyed it completely and noisily. Really, the other folks at the bus stop must have wondered what was so danged funny. It looks like the rest of the book will be just as entertaining.

London is FABULOUS! But I'm probably the only person on the planet who could come to Great Britain and get a sunburn! I spoke on the phone with Hikity last night and she sounds delightful. We're getting together at 6pm - pick up tickets at 7:15 - play at 8:00 - Q&A at 9:30. Must admit that I'm disappointed about the tone they are setting for the Q&A: no questions from the floor, no photos, no autographs... But, we'll just have to see how it plays out. Fingers crossed! I also sent up a emteee beagle howl when I saw Keiths photos! I was going to see Hay Fever that same night, but was too tired! SOB!! I did see Kathleen Turner in Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe - it was wonderful! Sorry to be OT. If anyone wants to read about my awfully big adventure here in London, you are quite welcome to my daily updates. But PLEASE: most of you know my writing style. If you don't like the way I talk, get confused by my flippancy or odd cbservations, please don't leave impolite comments.

Comments: Thanks Reedpipe for the news, it's interesting the way he said "Severus" instead of just "Snape"... It is a weak hint to guess anything about our favorite Potions-Master-on-the-run but at least is a good thing they're in first-name terms. I spent some time looking at those hats on Ebay, Sue, thanks for the link! Bet AR would send a cap of some sort, maybe a sport cap... What kind of raquet was he seen bouncing? Have to check the archives! Congratulations Juliet!

News over here!!!RICKMAN FIGHTS FOR CONTROVERSIAL PLAY Movie & Entertainment News © WENN.com All Rights Reserved 2006-04-27 15:19:28 - Print article Refer to a friend LATEST: British acting veteran ALAN RICKMAN is making a last attempt to get his controversial play MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE on a New York City stage, after a theatre pulled out because of the current "political climate". The DIE HARD actor directs the show, which charts the true story of an American peace activist who was killed by an Israeli army bulldozer, and was appalled when the New York Theatre Workshop cancelled the production last month (MAR06), slamming the move as "censorship". While the production is moving to London's West End, Rickman remains determined to see the politically-sensitive production on the New York stage, and will next week (begs01MAY06) fly to the US to fight it out with theatre bosses. He says, "I'm going to New York next week to talk about the play being put on again. It's a very complex issue and I don't want to go on about it too much. "I'm hoping we can sort something out and put the play on, whether it be at the New York Theatre Workshop or another theatre. "The play has to be shown in America and that's why I'm flying out to New York to change things." (JB/WNBIN/SH) Entertainment News by: http://www.pr-inside.com Contact information: e-mail
Comments: Beth, most of the pictures wer new to me so thank you for sharing them, as well as the unwatermarked ones! You are an angel! Sue, wooohoooey, those are fabulous! And a big thank you goes to Keith for his detailed report of the evening!
What is your location? GA Comments: Sorry yall...Tribeca started Tuesday!
See how far behind I am!!!!!
Comments: Thanks for your post, Keith. I completely understand his atitude, but he does shoot himself in the foot, sometimes. Knowing there would be photographers hanging around, you would have thought he would at least straighten his tie, otherwise the accusations are sure to fly!
And I know he tries to limit the profit these ebayers get from autographs etc (but then if buyers are daft enough to pay the price.....) but the "no autographs, no pictures" thing seems to be the norm these days for him, and eventually, he is going to lose a lot of loyal fans if he doesn't at least make some explanation why - even through Melanie Parker if needs be. He should not equate the thoughtless stalkers and ruthless ebayers with fans who just want a snap for their photo album, or a scribbled autograph to be their prized and prescious memory of an event that was special to them. After all, he is a well respected actor, and with that comes fans and admirers. If he did not want all that, then he should have stayed a graphic artist.
I love him really! His recent attitude is just getting to me, a bit.
What is your location? Mexico Comments: Hello Ladies! Marlina, 60 is not the age! It's not so much! Some men look brilliant even at 80 so we have got at least 20 years....!!! Keith, I am glad for you very much! When I grow up I will also go to see Alan! But why doesn't Alan sign HP stuff? Just only to prevent selling the autographs...?Sad occasion. Sue, I have also noticed that people brought pics from "RH..." and "LA" and others. It is very good that people appreciate his new and old works. Beth the photos are mainly not new but very funny and I like it very much indeed! Best wishes Yulia

I know there are others that will disagree with me but I really like the look he had Tuesday night. That's not to say that I don't like it when he's "dressed to kill" because I swoon and drool like the rest of you. But the look he had Tuesday night was fabulous in a relaxed sort of way.
Alma, I'm sorry I don't have any other information for you about Tribeca rumor. Maybe something will pop up and I'll make sure you get the message.
Speaking of Tribeca!!! It starts today so everyone needs to keep their eyes peeled on channels like E!, IFC, and Sundance!
What is your location? GA Comments: Thanks for the information from the Hayfever event, Keith. And you included info on the fabulous David Tennant too!
Its great to know that he was just being particular with his signing instead of refusing completely. The Man certainly is a pro at spotting the imposter fans. Maybe AR can give David Tennant some advice.
Also, I never meant to imply that AR was "sloshed" beyond the point of having his wits or walking drunkenly. I will be the first one to say there is not a thing wrong with a drink or two....or three *grin*. I only commented on it because it was really very nice to see him looking so relaxed and having a very good time after the last several sightings where he looked tense and stern.
Thanks again Keith for your commentary. It was great to read to start off my day.
Comments: I'm not aware he's ever spoken out against LV, Marlina, but the final picture on Beth's post sure looks like he doesn't want to lay eyes on the LV coat in front of him. *very big grin*

Dee & Hikity - wishing you the best on your excursion to London. Now, don't get overly excited when the OooA takes the stage for the Q & A and do something silly like throw your panties at him.

I can't wait for your next update, Red Tango, LOL! You're right Jan, Sue had no mercy with us. Anyway, it's okay, I managed to survive, after all it's better to take the risk than to miss a single picture.
What is your location? ENG-ER-LAND Comments:
Just to clarify about last night with Alan and the 'no autographs'.
Alan was OK about signing autographs, but as you know He does NOT Sign Harry Potter pics/items. There were about 8 regular autograph collectors/dealers at the stage door and as ever they had their supply of various pictures for the actors to sign. They did very well because David Tennant must have signed about 30 items - and there were only 8 guys there....so they would have been counting their money.
With Alan he was trying to make sure he did not give these guys a Christmas present by signing too much but he did point blank refuse to sign HP pics. Even one guy said "No, honest I'm not going to sell it. You speak to me in 30 years I'll still have it. Go on, pleeeeeeeeeease". Alan's response was polite and to the point "you may still have it in 30 years but it wont have my autograph, sorry - I do not sign Harry Potter stuff"
And lets face it, the man is not an idiot, he knew these guys were not fans, but dealers, professional autograph getters. Anyway this one guy chased him right down the bottom of the road pleading. Alan walked along with Belinda Lang and one of her friends and eventually the guy gave up at the end of the road to come back and pester someone else!
And Alan, I would guess had had a drink or two. He looked like he'd enjoyed his night at the theatre, but he was far from drunk. He had his wits about him, did not walk in a drunken way, nor was his speech slurred. He was just....'chilled'. And quite amazingly did not get annoyed with the autograph guys, just quite cheerfully set his own limits "I'll sign this, but not that".
One of these annoying guys wanted David Tennany to sign a Doctor Who photo and write "David Tennant Doctor Who" for some reason, David asked why - cant you write it on yourself, you've got my signature, what more???"
Anyway, photos wise, the pics you've tracked down are probably all you'll find. The guy who shot for Capital (Can Nguyen) also supplies LFI, the Rex pics were by James Curley (and his mate Steve) and a new guy Nat Travers was there for Getty.....and of course yours truly who popped along after the Mission Impossible 3 Premiere.
Comments: Sue: You should be flogged for posting those HUGE pictures twice! My heart can't take it!
Comments: Aww, these pics are so great! He just looks so bouncy and happy! <--- Not quite as bouncy as this, though. I'm so tempted to go to Tribecca now. Oh gosh. Claudia, how credible do you think the rumors are? Also, do you think he would go to the showing on Thursday at the Tribecca Performing Arts Center or the one on Saturday somewhere else? I promise to take lots of pictures if I go XD

Claudia, things are a bit different than expected. We cannot ask questions from the floor but have to mail or hand them in beforehand. I did my very best today (instead of packing and now I am a bit nervous, ladies, as my flight goes quite soon) to produce decent and intelligent questions (taking into consideration those of Sue, Laura, Nahima and Meeressternchen, too) . I would love to add yours, AdaVeen, although I already mailed to Whatsonstage. On verra! (quote Louis XIV; we will see)

They were taken last night at the Gala Charity Performance of Hay Fever at the Haymarket. Alan looks like he's had a good night...Tie skew Whiff (AGAIN)! Actually,I think it's rather fetching...uhm,...well, Alan has that certain style. Alanfan, I have emailed The Crucible, Sheffield and they have not stated dates as yet...I'm awaiting a reply,...as soon as I hear, you'll be the first to know.
What is your location? GA Comments: Awwwww I'm sorry to worry you Elaine and Ali-Pat. Its been one thing after another the last couple of months. I've been popping in as much as I can and I'm really behind on email but I keep plugging away at getting caught up.
Elaine! Thanks for the Whatsonstage update! I'm very surprised that there are still tickets left. Maybe the disclaimer that there is no 100% guarantee that specific individuals will be there might have scared some people off. That's a shame too, isn't it? I think if you want to see the play, it doesn't matter who is there for the Q&A. Surely, someone(s) from the inner circle would be there.....Katherine Viner and/or Megan Dodds and I am positive they have just as much fascinating contributions as AR.
I love sue's question! Hikity, I hope you will be able to ask it. Also, Laura's question would be wonderful to ask and the answer could benefit many of us all around the world. Meeressternchen's question is very professional too and I think very appropriate.
I'm wishing Dee and Hikity a lot of fun! Hikity, I'm with Nahima....give Dee a big hug from all of us and tell her to behave!!!
I second everyone that thinks Ali-Pat is fantastic. Her site is full of wonderful information and the humor she instills makes reading it even more fun to read. And my gawwwd, that woman has a memory to die for!
Here's a newish (?) pic of AR thanks to Eliza over at TARF for posting it. I'm torn about it being new though. It looks like this might have been taken while he was letting his hair grow out before shooting Snow Cake but then again...it could be the light in the store that's causing his hair to be so light. Anyway...enjoy!
Maybe some good news on the Tribeca front. There are rumors flying around that he might make an appearance at Tribeca this year for Snow Cake. There is nothing firm to base this on so if anyone was planning on going to the festival, keep your eyes peeled and come back and tell us all about it, please!!! So emteee, your basing the little blurb the other day about AR heading to Manhatten to scout theatres might not be to far off base!
Thanks to CatsPlay for the info on what AR did for the Beckett celebration. It looks like most of the artists that appeared did two pieces. Can you imagine having precious little time to rehearse and then getting up in front of an audience to perform???? I'm getting shivers thinking about it!
Pauline, thanks so much for the link to the MNiRC piece. I've downloaded it and will listen to it in just a bit.
I followed the Harry/Karen conversation as much as I could. I loved reading everyone's opinion. I've always been of the thought that Harry did do the deed with Mia because of the crumpled bed.

Comments: Wonderful, Hikity!
Comments: Ardent Jan, I am going to mail Laura's question, sure
Comments: Thanks for the Spanish help, Nahima, Carolina, & Yulia. It has been 43 years since I took Spanish in school so I wasn't 100 percent sure. I forgot to say "female", though - not used to thinking in terms of male/female words anymore!
Well, Nahima won't be reading this soon, 'cause she's going to be watching someone Search for someone! After she's through doing that she'll be no doubt.
That would be fantastic, Laura, if they would film MNiRC to release after it's through in the theaters! If only LLD and PL had been done! Maybe a polite letter-writing campaign or something? To let them know there's interest.
Comments: Ooopss.. now my "pedagogical" post looks truly weird after Meeressternchen messages. Forgot to say I was adding a little to Carolina & Jan's comments about the name of the secretary from "Love Actually". Hi Meeressternchen!
Comments: Meeressternchen, leg los!!! I've send you a mail via web, however, I don't know whether this is still a valuable one. How often have you seen the play?
Comments: Yes, "Mía" in spanish means "mine" but it is used only when referring to a female or something related with the feminine genre. For example, if you want to say "Alan is mine" you can't use "mia". It has to be "Alan es miO"... see? with an "o" instead of "a" at the end. I use "Alan" just for pedagogical purposes, a male's name was needed and I just remember that one... pure coincidence.
Comments: me again, I have a couple more now that I think...if you wanna know the rest, please mail me.
Comments: Hikity, mein Schatz, if you have the courage: "Does the actress warm up properly every time before the performance and for how long, especially for her song?" *a very stupid Q on the first glance, however, many glances later perhaps not so - for I went several times and sometimes it was superb and sometimes you'd think oh my god - where did the warm-up go? I admit, a theatre-detailed Q*
Comments: Hi people! I'm just dropping by (or dropping in?) to scream something: Jan, I got it! Thanks a lot!!! Sue, that's a very good question! Could he take it as a challenge? (Btw, hope next Friday he would be in the best of moods.) Laura, maybe AR would prefer to make a film about it. Just as he did with "The Winter Guest". Lovely discussion regarding "Love Actually"! Pity I'm on my way to enjoy some gifts... But can't go without add a tiny bit and that is that I think Harry and ForgotEmma's character name did have fallen into a routine in their marriage, jobs and kids before their own love relationship, and that did some harm too. Hikity, have a nice trip and give Dee a huge hug from us! (Tell her to do the same with you!) I've not manage to "construct" an intelligent question after all this time... *shame on me* ...but I believe it will be interesting to inquiry about AR's POV of Rachel Corrie as a person, aside the political factor. AR has always said that his works's principal target is to make people think, it would be interesting to know more about his own thoughts when first "met" or heard about Rachel. Could it be inappropiate to ask about his next works? Yes, I think so. Forget this, I didn't say it. Have a nice Tuesday, everyone! (This can't be taken in the british sense since I mentioned the specific day... or am I wrong?)
Comments: Sue, do you want me to send this question to Terri??? Then I'll do it
Comments: silly question: has anyone ever considered about filming and selling the play? For all the people (me first) who can't afford the trip and the stay outside the country, for who can't go in person anyway...for many reasons
Comments: Ummmmmmmmm......."Mr.Rickman, you stated in an interview once (BBCHardTalk) that you would never act in a one-man show as you felt you had to re-act to another person. Is directing a one-woman show a different matter?"
That sounds a bit stroppy, doesn't it!!?
Comments: The problem is we have to send in QUESTIONS in advance...what a....that's the first time I read it. This is clearly a safety method, but questions pop up in my mind while listening...bäääääääh
Now you have your chance ladies: come up with a question!!!! And let me know very very soon
Comments: Just got a big reminder in my mail from Whatsonstage about MNiRC and their Q & A session. THey still have tickets! So if anyone is keen to go, mosey on over to their site and get a couple. All that stuff about it being exclusive to Club members is absolute rot! Hope no one paid to join!

You´re sort of right...¨mia¨ is Spanish, the equivalent is not ¨my¨ though...a closer equivalent would be ¨mine¨
Ella es mia= she is mine.
Comments: Yes, Reepipe and Yulia, this wonderful pic was taken in Berlin on the premiere evening ball! Here you are, Yulia:
Comments: Ardent Jan, you are right, "mia" means "my" when it concernes female gender. For example "my mother" and you should merely translate it in Spanish! I learn Spanish now. Interesting language I should say and similar with English! Best wishes Yulia
What is your location? CT Comments: Yulia, that pic looks like it was taken on the red carpet at the Berlinale in February. Cheers.
Comments: An interesting little LA factoid Elisa brought up: "Mia" in Italian (and, I think, in Spanish?) means "my" or "mine".

Chris, I do understand it of course, but I am a bit small for such businesses, I suppose. However I like the way you discuss about Harry and Mia. Thank you Pauline for sharing it and Thanks Chalebh for the article. By the way where was this this large photo made?
Thank you all! Best wishes Yulia
Comments: Brittany: They say that we are attracted to people not so much for who they are as how we feel about ourselves when we're with them. If you want someone to like you, make them feel good about themselves. Harry and Karen have BOTH fallen into a routine, as most of us do. If Karen was still making Harry feel sexy, handsome, and desireable there's NOTHING Mia could have done to lure him away. Likewise, Harry should have been making Karen feel sexy, beautiful, and desireable. We tend to become complacent in our relationships - and that is a HUGE mistake!
But watched the whole movie again last night and I just love the way so many different relationships are depicted (including the reversed-role thing, Hikity, definitely) and how they intertwine through friendships, family connections, etc.
And seeing AR's choices of roles - I think he wants to depict a wide spectrum of human experience. Harry isn't really bad - he's just vulnerable and he slips.
Comments: Oh, a Happy Liberation Anniversary from me too, then, for all our Italian friends! LurkingFairy, yes, indeed, Tony Kushner is a controversial writer but I admire his work very much. Anges in America was splendid! I`m curious about the play, I`ve only seen the movie and I`m having difficulties imagining how they could have played it on a stage. i mean, so many characters with so many different locations, not to mention the special effects. Yes, Hikity, I agree completely. Enough to say that since I`ve been studying history, ALL my foundations have been shattered. Actually the first lesson is - forget what you`ve learned so far, forget everything you may have heard; this is completely different and you`ll have to start all over again. And then yo learn that a historical figure that you have admired was actually a loathsome person and viceversa. And yes, usually we`re only taught the convenient part of history. It`s called mass manipulation and it has been going on since the begining of mankind and it will STILL happen in the future, however that may be.
Sorry for the OT everyone.
What is your location? Italy Comments: Beth and Claudia, thank you for the "new" piccies! And for all the Italian friends, an happy Liberation Anniversary!
Comments: Ali-Pat, you are fantastic - thanks so much for your advice and the links, wow! I hope I can find some of them in our university library.
Michelle, also a big thankyou to you - a very nice link you posted and I am going to listen to the speaker when I return from England!
Ardent Jan, that's a good point! I've never thought about the long illness of his late wife. O.K. then, I accept his falling in love with a Claudia-Schiffer-kind-of-woman (btw she is really pretty and I once read - I think it was Lagerfeld himself who said it - that her complextion, her skin, her figure etc etc are all truly perfect without any make-up - a very rar thing). Concerning Heike Makatsch - she has blond hair (that was a wig in LA), she is too thin for my taste (no bottom at all, therefore I cannot understand Harry anyway) sorry I am not fond of her but I stop here as it is ad nauseum to take your wording...hihihi. For me she is supposed to play (a very modern) femme fatale, but not very convincingly. Of course she doesn't care about Karen, which becomes obvious in the deleted scene - there is a GOAL to reach - as it is so often with men, isn't it?? They chase a woman like a hunter and when they finally "catch" her and had their "cake" they drop her in search for the next one. So, this might be another side/view/hint/purpose of this film sequence: reverse gender issues
Chris, I couldn't have put it in better words - I refer to LA and MNiRC, Tks plus your interesting hints on historical facts. Isn't that anyway a problem as we haven't lived in a paticular time in the past and those who wrote about it at that particular time are not objective -they pass over their views. Read an article in today's newspapers on a topic you are familiar with (or perhaps involved in due to your job or study) and you might shake your head or even get furious because of the false facts or conclusions the author stated...and then imagine that this will be part of history in 100 years
Chalebh, thanks for that link! and last but not least: Pauline, my hubby is a Bob Dylan fan, so thanks, too, for your link
Comments: Hey again, ARdent Jan. I guess your right about that. If you really like somebody, then of course you would care about how the situation might affect them. So I too think she was just being selfish. Do you think Harry liked Mia more, or just cared for his wife less at the time? I think he liked Mia more. Why does Alan ALWAYS have to play the bad character? haha. Oh right, because hes HOT! Same reason he plays the good characters. haha. And of course because of his brilliant acting.
Comments: There is a news article which mentions "Nobel Son". It's in here: http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/14395082.htm

Alanfan - I think that if MNiRC goes to Sheffield it will be after the first two weeks in August because its going to Edinburgh first.
What is your location? England Comments: Hi all Back from my travels I noticed on the Guardian web-site a re-working by Billy Bragg of Bob Dylan's "The lonesome death of Hattie Carroll" with reference to Rachel Corrie. You can read the text or download the MP3 file here http://arts.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,,1741197,00.html Dylan fans will notice that it's more than the tune that has been borrowed from the original.
Comments: bluebeatbabe, whats this about MNiRC coming to Sheffield? I have just been catching up on the days events and just spotted your post. When is it coming to Sheffield?
Comments: Brittany: It depends to on how you define "likes him." Attracted to him - of course! I'm sure she won't "sleep around" with literally anybody. But I really can't understand how a person can say "I like him" and yet not care how he might be hurt by one's actions.
If Mia had seen the pain in his face when Karen confronted him - would she have cared? Would she have felt sorry that she caused the man she supposedly likes to hurt so deeply? Or would she just see it as an opportunity to step in and "comfort" him. That's selfish opportunism. That's a little like telling someone, "I really like you," then hitting them over the head with a frying pan, and saying, "Oh, here - let me kiss it and make it better!" I'd say: "Please don't like me!"
On a lighter note:
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Found this in Google groups this evening:
Samuel Beckett Gala Evening 2nd April 2006. The Concert Hall, Reading.
Unquestionably Beckett was a prolific master of many genres, from novels to dramas to unique one-act plays. Oscar winning director, Anthony Minghella, celebrated the diversity of these works by bringing together a remarkable cast of actors to perform powerful passages from Beckett's work. Furthermore the proceeds from the performance, the drinks reception and the auction all went to Macmillan Cancer Relief. Some of the performers are already associated with Beckett notably Billie Whitelaw, Barry McGovern and Felicity Kendal whilst Jude Law, Rosamund Pike and possibly Alan Rickman are relative novices. It was Minghella stated, an evening of 'busking Beckett', adding that the actors had only that day rehearsed for the performance at seven. The entertainment opened with the relatively 'lighter' and best known of the dramatist's works, Waiting For Godot, once criminally and inaccurately described as "a play in which nothing happens.
Twice." Jude Law as Vladimir was the perfect foil to Lee Evans' Estragon, a character profiting from Lee's faultless comic timing and physical presence. Although Lee has some familiarity with Beckett this was a new experience for Law who later impressed with the final actor's piece of the evening, What is the Word. In contrast 'Beckett's muse' and long-time associate Billie Barry McGovern is another Beckett stalwart with a history of major roles and his contributions, warmed by his resonant presentation, were an incredible aural pleasure. Both the poems and the extract from the novel Unnameable were a wealth of metaphor and vibrant language, a clear debt to James Joyce. This wonderful use of language reached its peak when Rosamund Pike, along with Felicity Kendal and Alan Rickman delivered the difficult, yet lyrical, reading from Play, in which all three characters speak in what Beckett termed a "chorus". The impressive Rosamund Pike returned later for Not I, a piece still intrinsically associated with Whitelaw. However equally impressive was Rickman's reading of Krapps Last Tape where a man listens to a tape recording of his memories as he reflects on 'that stupid bastard...thirty years ago" The difficulty of acting the scene without props was dramatically compensated for by Minghella reading aloud the stage directions. Balanced against such longing and despair Lee's second piece showed Beckett's love of the clown and as before he showed a remarkable aptitude for the material that crackled with verbal dexterity as he railed against 'the wax...the cracks...the prayers'. More wordplay from Kendal as Winnie in Happy Days who 'between the bell for waking and the bell for sleep' kills time with words. Both the language and her performance captured exactly the insecurity of Winnie's situation as she careers between optimism, despair and denial. Finally the performance ended with, as Minghella said, 'his david stockton
Comments: Wow, thanks for all that stuff, ARdent Jan! I really am glad to read that scene to think about it more. VERY nice comments in parenthesis. HAHA. Now what Im wondering is if Mia wants to have an affair with Harry because she is the type of person who would sleep around, with anyone, or if she really does like him. Maybe it is a combination. Also thanks for the information on Teh Man. Very Funny. Haha. He really is TEH MAN! hahahah. That cracks me up. One of my favorites in this case is TEH EYES! I love his stare so much. He is flawless. OOOOOO! TEH Flawless man. HAHA. Gee, sorry everybody, I kinda OD-ed.
Comments: Another neat cut scene: Emma looks at herself in the mirror and says: "Since when did my bottom stop being my bottom and turn into Britain's second largest sea port?" Harry: "Don't be rude. I've invested a lot of time and emotion in that bottom." Too bad you didn't remember that, Harry.
Comments: Camerata: It's the scene where Mia checks out her friend Mark's (the guy in love with Kiera Knightly's character) art gallery for the party. Mia: "I'm thinking of having an affair with my boss. What do you think?" Mark: "Is he married?" Mia: "Yes." Mark: "Bad idea, then. The marriage vow is very sacred. (which he clearly believes since he left his friend's wife alone) Mia: "Or I could have an affair with you, Mark." (an affair is going to happen with someone-if you don't care who, pick a single man) Mark laughs. Mia: "Why not?" Mark: "Let's just not go there." pause "Do you look as gorgeous as this at work?" Mia: "Yes." (clearly she thinks so) Mark: "Then he's doomed. Isn't he?" Mia: "Yes." (and who gives a flying s**t about how it hurts Harry, just let me at him - true love, that) Interestingly, Richard Curtis says that originally Mia was going to be the woman who had broken Colin Firth's heart and then they changed that.
Brittany: I understand it started out as a mistake somewhere (?) on the net and then came to mean "the diffinitive whatever". Teh Nose is the difinitive nose. The nose by which we measure all noses! Teh Man, Teh Lips, and so on ad infinitum (or ad nauseum, depending on how you look at it, I suppose).

That's great for MniRC in Edinburg ! About Harry & Mia, a friend of mine has also noticed that her sheets were upside down and that it meant that they did it but I'm not sure of that. But to play the devil's advocate, if I was Mia, I'd probably did the same because Harry is HOT ! LOL (and so does Carl, the enigmatic chief designer lol)
Comments: Well, concerning Bad Harry, now I am convinced that he did the deed, so to speak. haha. I like our discussion a lot. People were mentioning the end, about when he comes back from the plane. Here is another idea: Maybe Harry actually offered or insisted on leaving for a break, because he felt guilty for what he had done. Also, has anyone watched the deleted scenes for LA? Because there is a scene in there where Mia is talking to one of the guys (I think the one who was in love with Kiera Knightly's character.) They talk and she says something like "Im thinking of dating my boss." Or asking him out or sleeping with him or something. I was just wondering if anybody remembers what was exactly said so could play into her relationship with Harry. Also, I know this may be a stupid question, but why do we say "Teh Man" instead of "The Man."????? I have been confused about this for sometime, and really have no idea why I dont know. P.S- I will be hanging out in the chat room if anybody wants to join me.

Comments: UPS! I meant "ABOUT Michael Collins" down there.
Comments: Oh one thing I forgot! Abiut Michael Collins. I don`t know, there was something in DeValera which made me believe him. Then there was that bit at the end where (it was written on the screen) he said that no doubt, the world will held him responsable. But I actually think the way they edited the movie was for the best. It has an ambiguity about it which in my opinion suites every historical interpretation. One thing I`ve learned, studying history is that nothing is what it seems to be and that nothing ever was. You can believe but you can`t tell for certain, not even after you`ve read thousands or articles. Human actions can be determined about countless factors. Also, there are so many factual errors floating around, so I think the best way to tell a story is to leave room for interpretation.
Comments: Thanks, Ali-Pat, I downloaded the tunes from Haven. Thanks Sue, for the explanation of St George¡¯s Day. I almost mistake it for an English women¡¯s day, hahaha.
Jamie is the sweetest boy/ghost I have ever known! Every time watching TMD, I smile a lot as well as shed lots of tears. Speak of sweet boy, Ed in the January Man is the definition of this term!
Oh, I think I should speak a bit more about SC: Alex was tortured by 2 car accidents in which 3 people died including his son. It¡¯s very hard to get through, he felt so guilty, even wept. And these painful experiences made him a very introvert person. (clear my throat)Concerning the mentioned !@#$%^scenes, it¡¯s said that the scenes are not particularly !@#$%^, just kisses, holding in arms, sweet talks(hope you can understand), and making love twice¡ What is also worth mentioning is that Alan would sing 2 very short songs in the movie. Alex made several good friends there including Linda who was still autistic, but slightly. When he finally left the small town, the old nightmare was overcome. Believe me, I have tried my best. Today, she is still *_*
Comments: Just to throw my two cents in the LA debate, I was never simpathetic towards AR`s character. It takes two to tango; yes, he did it, yes, he is guilty and responsable for his own dark deeds. Yulia, I don`t think you`d feel the same way if your (future) husband would do that to you. On a different note, if you think about Mia, her character represents TEMPTATION. The forbidden fruit that lures everyone at a certain time in their life. Giving in is human. Restraining yourself is admirable. I find it just another REAL life situation, much more real than any other story included in the film. Actually, although yes, I dislike Mia`s character, I can`t judge her either. Let`s be honest here, almost everyone finds herself/himself attracted to someone already commited at a certain point in life.(and we ARE talking about someone played by AR, in the end ) Of course, i`m only talking about thoughts. She, on the other hand, took it to another level. Which WAS wrong, indeed. But I wouldn`t blame her alone, nor would I call her an ugly frog either. I wouldn`t call her a beauty but I don`t think they chose her for nothing. She does have a certain appeal, IMHO. Hmm, yes, I think ET`s acting was superb, then again, I would have expected nothing less from her. For anyone who`s a fan, I HIGHLY recommend Imagining Argentina. It`s one of the most moving films I have ever sen but I must warn you, it`s a bit tough to chew due to certain violence scenes.
And about the MNIRC debate, I haven`t seen it either but just one thing I`d like to say: based on what i`ve read so far, I can`t imagine a rational person giving a political interpretation to the play. Let alone criticize the producers or director because of it. Mind you, I haven`t said politics are not involved. But politics are not the substance of this play. From what i`ve read, it`s another person`s perception of a certain political context. IF AR or KV would have inflicted their OWN beliefs in Rachel Corrie`s monologues, or would have altered the text in order to project their OWN opinions, then yes, it would have been a tricky subject. But producing, directing or writing a play about someone does not necessary imply aproval of their deeds. Take Munich, for example. A brilliant film. It raises many questions. BUT! See it as ART and not necessarily as someone`s opinions or frustration. There is no ultimate truth. There is only human perception.
PS: Oh come on! It WAS WX54B !!! How can I mistake those numbers and letters for anything else???!!! Geesh!
Comments: Thank you for your input, Michelle--I have learned something today.
Now I think I will write 100 times, "Rising, not Uprising".
Comments: Oh, gee - I misspelled your name, too, Michelle. Sorry.
Comments: For as long as I can remember, the Easter Rising has always been commemorated on Easter Sunday. I don't live in Dublin myself - but I live in a Nationalist/Republican area of Belfast and I know that every Easter we wear the Easter Lily to remember the 1916 Rising.
According to this BBC site, the ACTUAL Easter Rising took place on April 23rd, but I think because it's widely known as the *Easter* Rising, it's tradition to celebrate it on Easter, regardless of the date - but this is just an opinion as to why things are so.
Comments: Michele et al: I read somewhere (or maybe saw an interview) that Alan was upset by the fact that they had removed a scene from Michael Collins which made it clear that DeValera had nothing to do with the assasination. Watching the movie, I had thought that he did. It's very misleading the way it is.
What is your location? slinking away now Comments: Forgive me for misspelling your name, Michelle!
What is your location? working, working, working What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://home.earthlink.net/~sa.pe/APLhome.html Comments: Hikity, I have compiled a list of Easter Uprising books here. And it was I who mistakenly said 100th instead of 90th--but I corrected myself in a later post.
I agree with what Michele says about not believing everything Hollywood says, but I must caution you not to believe everything Wikipedia says, either. It is a nice place to start, but you need to back up what it says with other sources.
As for the Easter Uprising always being commemorated on Easter (at whatever point it falls on the calendar) I had not heard that. A radio news story I heard last week seemed to indicate that events were being planned for the date of April 24. Maybe it is one of those eternal conundrums like "did the 21st Century start in 2000 or 2001?"
And on to Private Lives--darkzorro93, I remember there only being two songs that were used in the Rickman/Duncan production of PL, but I could have misremembered that. I think there might have been some random noodling on the piano at some point also. I will look into it further and get back to you.
What is your location? L.A. land Comments: LA: I'm very glad, too, that AR insisted on the confrontation scene. I think it's very important for their emotional development. They both did it so well (what else is new?). Harry's face shows me that he really understands what he's done for the first time. Until then, I think he just thoughtlessly believed he could have it all and nobody would ever have to know. So many times I've heard someone say, "What she/he doesn't know won't hurt her/him." And then it does. During the confrontation, Harry doesn't say anything and, really, Karen doesn't give him a chance. I'm not sure she really wants to hear it at that point. I think Mia looks very much the young man-hunter, out to make a conquest at any cost (to anyone else). And she looks so self-satisfied with her spoils-of-war necklace. I think the actress played it very well. And, in her defense, we're not supposed to like her and they've done everything they can (hair, makeup, clothes) to see that we don't. I agree, Vicki, about the airport scene, but I tend to think it's a combination business trip/separation. Maybe an extended business trip. Karen's "I'm fine" is something we all do, meaning "I'll survive" not "I'm back to normal." I think his face shows he understands that. But her "I'm glad you're home" speaks well for at least a chance that they'll manage to work it out and he will work like crazy to win back her trust. 1st on the agenda: Mia's gone!!! That clue of the two beds, Reedpipe, is a great one! Karen's perfect - nothing happening there - and Mia's all messed up in the early evening. Baaaaaaaaad Harry! Mess your wife's bed up!!!! Yes, that's true, Hikity, about the woman LN truly falls for (a CS lookalike in the story-very clever) I forgot that was played by her, but you have to consider, I think, that his wife was sick, apparently for a long time. That can make a huge difference. I would compare his wife's long death with Jamie's sudden death in TMD, where Nina couldn't move on because she hadn't had time before to digest it - it never became "real" to her.
Comments: Hikity - with reference to the Easter Rising (and other events outlined in the movie Michael Collins) I just wanted to add my two cents. I can't remember who said it was the 100th anniversary today or yesterday but it's not quite true. The Rising took place in 1916; making it 90 years.
The Rising is always commemorated on Easter Sunday (because that's when it took place) but because Easter moves around each year, it's difficult to keep track. I think the general consensus - at least in Ireland - is that it's remembered and celebrated on Easter Sunday and not the actual date itself (23/24 April).
If you're looking for some decent material on the ACTUAL (not the ones in the movie. Never believe what Hollywood tells you! Generally everything in the movie was accurate, but the it was very Pro-Michael Collins. Rickman's character, Éamon de Valera was portrayed as sinister, cunning and even hinted he was involved in the assasination of Michael Collins. There has never been any evidence to back this up. Infact, de Valera went on to be the most influencial person in modern Irish history. He wrote the constitution, was the Taóiseach (Prime Minister) for over 30 years and even went on to become President) events, I'd suggest you take a look at some website. Wikipedia, perhaps. There are also lots of great books out there which have been written about the Easter Rising, I'd just suggest caution when choosing a title - with any country that's been through a civil war, there are always going to be divides in the opinion. If possible, find a good text that'll provide you with BOTH sides of the argument, which in this case were Michael Collins's (Liam Neeson's character in the movie) pro-treaty party and Éamon de Valera's (Rickman) anti-treaty party.
Comments: Yes, Vicky, you are right. At least the story with the hot Latin lover was heartbreaking. Of course, the woman chose her responsibility for her brother. Very brave and unselfish of her. *sad* And I agree with Hikity that Harry is not poor. He gave in to Mia's advances quite willingly and quickly. So, Mia is not worse than Harry here. Of course, her action of trying to seduce Harry is wrong (adultery and all) but Harry does the same.
Comments: Vicki, yes, I agree Yulia, I think not that Mia is a bad woman, and Harry is not poor Have to cook now - it's so warm here, wow, our neighbours even have a barbecue...
What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Continuing with the Love Actually discussion, someone mentioned that Harry and Karen's relationship was the only unhappy (or inconclusive) ending but don't forget Laura Linney's character and the HOT, Latin love interest, Carl. That was a very touching and heartbreaking story as well.
I also would include the guy (can't remember the actor's name) who was in love with Keira Knightly's character as a somewhat sad ending but one that was conclusive. He had decided to finally reveal his true feelings to her, which he probably never would have done had she not seen his videotape of the wedding. But he also decided to end it at the same time. Sad for him, at least but he respected his friend enough to never act on his feelings and decided to move on from there.

LA: I think he comes home after a business trip. Concerning Heike Makasch I remember that ET once talked about her beauty, huhu, I can't find any beauty in her, sorry. Regarding Harry I suggest it was a one-night stand. Ardent Jan, I agree, but in this case LN actually falls in love some weeks after his wife's death (and the lady in question is CS although she adopts another name in the film)
Comments: DarkZorro93, the 23rd of April is St.George's day. St.George is the patron saint of England. The English have never made much of a deal about their national day compared with the Irish, Scots and Welsh. It also happens to be Shakespeare's Birthday. Well I for one always thought Harry had done the dirty LOL Either way, I think the buying of the present was just as much of a betrayal to Karen. People do get over these things though.
Comments: Yes, darkzorro. Unfortunately, I only read your post after posting mine... I think your view on Harry's and Karen's future is realistic. And yeah, I love Emma's expression, too. She is brilliant in that movie. Similar her crying in the bedroom, it is so real - well, in fact those are real tears. She is extraordinary. And when she confronts Harry and then suddenly turns round to hug the kids. There is so much going on in her face. And last but not least, the look on her face when she sees the necklace and thinks it is meant for her Sorry, guys - that was OT, wasn't it? Can't help myself, I love that movie too much. Please forgive...
Comments: Yes, sure, the tumbled bed is quite convincing... Horrible, horrible. Oh, bad, bad Harry... I am not sure whether Harry really returns from some time of separation in the end. Why should he leave the country for that? Looks rather like a business trip to me. Especially since the confrontation scene was not planned. Therefore no moviegoer could have jumped to that conclusion. We have to thank AR for that scene, he felt it was necessary for Harry and Karen's story and I totally agree. Additionally, it is one of the most moving scenes in LA for me. *sigh* Yeah, I think you convinced me. Stupid, innocent me never thought of the bed as evidence. Sad, so sad Will Harry and Karen's relationship heal????
What is your location? In my Closet Land Comments: Ali-Pat The info is very helpful. Your site is interesting! "I enjoy being a girl", ~HOHO~ But, have you noticed that what Elyot was singing before Amanda interrupted him is not from these 2 songs. I am unable to make up the whole part, just can grasp several words, like ¡°illusion is gone¡±, ¡°a rainy day¡±, such and such. An ad-lib??
In LA, Mia looks like a spider (black&red). I¡¯m glad to see Harry finally come home on the last scene in the airport though it¡¯s quite abrupt. Emma¡¯s performance is fabulous! The expression of Karen when coming face to face with her husband again always lingers in my mind. Definitely, she still loves him badly, but has also been hurt terribly by him. She has not yet forgiven him, but would give him another chance (maybe). Therefore, when the movie ended, I just thought ¡°Ok, Harry, now there is still a long way for you to go~~¡± They should shot this story as an independent one! I love alan+emma on screen.
BTW, what is St Georges Day? Is it an English festival for women? If so, wish you all a very happy St Georges Day!!
What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Interesting discussion on Harry. I've always been "on the fence" as to whether he actually did sleep with Mia or not. But after reading the posts here, I'm afraid you've convinced me that he did (say it isn't so! ). Bad, BAD Harry!
Regarding the final scene at the airport, I've always felt that Harry was returning from a trial separation. It seems to go well with Karen's character. She had the courage to confront him (I can't believe they originally were not going to include that) after the school performance so I'm assuming that she also had the courage to boot his butt out for a while until he decided what was really important to him. Being that, upon being exposed, he admitted that he was a fool, I think she was confident that he already realized he had made a big mistake and would eventually return. But she probably needed some separation time herself to try and come to terms with what had happened and maybe demonstrate to him all that he would be losing by throwing their relationship away on a cheap affair.

Comments: Hi, I just wanted to jump in into the "Harry" discussion for what it´s worth. Wasn´t it Alan himself who answered someone´s question about whether he slept with "Mia" or not with the following words; "I think you have to assume he did..." So there it is, a confession of the man himself. *bad Harry bad Harry* Cats, remember we discussed the MNiRC script. I received it today, more than 3 weeks after my orderdate!!!!!!! For anyone who is about to attend the Q & A next Friday, have lots of fun and be sure to supply us with a detailed report. PS: teh Code is giving me the cramps
What is your location? CT Comments: The first time I saw LA, I was convinced that Harry and Mia never actually, ahem, got together. On a second watch, though, one thing struck me: after the scene where Karen cries her heart out and smoothes over her pristine bed, Curtis immediately cuts to Mia's apartment, where her bed is all a-jumble, and she puts on the necklace. (I know someone else, either here or at Suzanne's, noticed this too.) That's what convinced me that Harry and Mia actually did do the deed. Bad Harry.

I don't know if that's inconculsive evidence (I added the emphasis as the end), but he did say 'give in'.
Comments: When not adding his lugubrious presence and bassoon-like tones to the filming of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," Alan Rickman is moonlighting as a location scout. With the next gap in his schedule, he's Manhattan-bound to select one of the theaters jockeying for his Royal Court production of "My Name Is Rachel Corrie."

What is your location? Love Actually Land Comments: Thank you for the interesting discussion on Bad Harry. Actually, I always believed Harry bought the necklace but decided not to go any further just in time (note that that was before I was an Alan fan). Still feeling guilty, he bought the CD for his wife instead of the usual scarf. Of course, the ridiculously expensive necklace as compared to the CD would still be an insult in a way. Maybe I only trusted in Harry because I cannot understand how someone could fall for Heike Makatsch , especially when that someone has such a caring wife. Makatsch does not come across convincingly as a man-eating Vamp imho. Anyway, your ramblings really made me doubt Harry... *boohooo* Of course, he might have "done it." And how horrible indeed - on the same day when he gave his wife the CD. That would be hypocritical and dirty and unforgivable. His smile under the Christmas Tree would be fake and so would the kiss and the dressing of the children to help his wife. I always thought he wanted to make up for the dirty thoughts he had had, not for any actual betrayal. Of course, there was always the nagging doubt and for sure, during the confrontation with his wife, he does not deny that it might have been more than a necklace... That would be peculiar if he was innocent. But maybe he realized that moment that it did not matter if he betrayed his wife with a necklace or with sex - he had already destroyed something precious forever. On the DVD they say that Alan insisted on the confrontation scene - it was not in the original script. And I am glad there was a confrontation between the couple, that Karen did not just carry on without giving Harry a piece of her mind. But of course, nothing is revealed then. And that is very clever, for not knowing what happened puts us into the same position as the wife. We will forever doubt Harry and suffer with Karen. Pity for Harry? Only if he did not betray his wife hours before he gave her the present. For that would have been too planned and mean and dirty. Another question: Do you think Karen has forgiven him? And when she says she is fine (at the airport), is she? She seems to be anything but fine, rather carrying on for the kids' sake or something like that. Harry on the other hand seems to believe her and not to realize she is hurting. Could that mean he thinks she believes it was only a necklace? Raaaaaaaaah, I WANT to know And why, Makatsch, why? Anyway, Harry's and Karen's story is the only one in the film without a happy ending. In a way, that makes the whole movie more real at least. But why, oh why?

At his wife's funeral he says they had talked about details of her funeral and he says that:"Some of her requests, for instance, that I should bring Claudia Schiffer as my date to the funeral, I was confident she expected me to ignore."
In other words: He was "in love" with Claudia Schiffer like we're "in love" with Alan Rickman! Not really . . . just pretend. Or, rather, in love with Teh Look, Teh Talent, etc. and not the person (who we don't even know).

Of course it means the dirty little bugger went there just before going home and giving Karen her present. That's worth a boot in that lovely butt! But at least he realizes what a fool he's been when Karen confronts him and realizes that he has permanently damaged something important to him just so Mia could put another notch on her bedpost. There, I had to feel a bit sorry for him, too.
That's definitely not H&K's bed Mia gets out of because they're switching the scene between the two on the same night (Mia's still in the camisole when Hugh Grant comes to her door). There's something else I was never sure about and never even sort of decided: When Harry comes home on the plane, is it from a business trip, has Karen booted him out temporarily (as she talked about cutting and running), or is it both????

Thank you Elaine for the explanation of "time lapse" photography. So there is a distinction between it and "panoramic time lapse". I learn so much from our group.
LurkingFairy, I fixed your link. There was one too many "http://"s in the link because when you use the link icon above, it already has the start of the url inserted. To me this is stupid because most people including myself like to copy from the browser (which already includes the "http://) and paste in. I've asked Website Toolbox to address this issue. Maybe if I ask again, they will respond this time.
dorthkam, thank you so much for sharing your MNiRC experience with us!
MNiRC is obviously a project near and dear to AR so I just can not or will not ban any discussion here. I do want to read reports from people that have and/or are seeing the play as well as any other project that AR's working on. I believe that past MNiRC experiences have been related very well without getting to political and I believe we will continue to do so.
My original request pertaining to MNiRC spawned from the fact that every extreme site from both sides of the conflict were publishing articles about the play. The extremists sites were indeed hurtful to our dear friends here on both sides so I did ask that when posting from such sites to please only post a link and possibly paste in the AR bits. I've been quite proud of how careful everyone has been since my request and I really don't think anyone has stepped over the line.
What it boils down to is this. Our group is made up of many very wonderful, rational, and sensitive people who would rather poke out their own eye than to hurt someone else. There are a lot of people here that really don't fully understand the conflict and I will be the first one to admit to that. Sometimes, that lack of understanding causes me to not be able to distinguish what might be hurtful to one side or the other. But I can tell you this....I hurt and pray for both sides and would never want to hurt one or the other.

What is your location? England Comments: That Voltaire quote is near enough to make its very important point. I really do not want to jump on Susan who obviously finds this subject very difficult to handle, but the rest of us have rights too. AR is the director and co-editor of this play so of course we are going to discuss it. Many of us have seen or read MNIRC and want to hear other people's views or experoences. If this is too painful for some people then don't read those posts. It really is that simple. I hope you can come to terms with this Susan because there should be a lot of reports over the next week.
Comments: Well, if he really was "Bad Harry" then I tottaly don't understand why I wasn't picked for the role of his seceratary. Or his wife. Heck, I wouldn't have minded being his daughter (closer role to my own age) just as long as I could be with him. HAHA. How much does everyone love that movie? I really wish that he would have been in it more. Oh well. I was actually talking to my friend about the setting, and she said that the Whats Her Name (secretary) gets out of the bed that is Harry's and his wife's. I looked at it, and its not the same bed. But there ARE some clues...Maybe when I write Alan I should ask him.

Susan - Its like this to paraphrase Voltaire.
I may dislike what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
Dont flame me I know the phrase isn't exactly correct.
Comments: Sorry, Elaine, a belated Happy St George's Day
What is your location? sunny day Comments: Two sentences on MNiRC: Banning discussions about MNiRC (which of course involve or have to involve politics) would be the same as banning the play...and I refuse to keep my mouth shut.
I am reading the play at the moment for very good reasons as you all know and I can only say: it's highly political in its own sense , and why not, remember what Orwell once stated:There is no keeping out of politcs. All issues are political issues.
However, if you think that freedom of speech is not allowed here on the GB I won't comment on my experiences of the play and the Q &A afterwards, of course. I have thought we are great people here who are open enough to discuss different views on issues in a decent and friendly way
Regarding LA, Ardent Jan, as lovely as you are thinking only the best of best of our Harry, they definitely have an affair - there are many obvious signs (as mentioned here and esp. the bed in the background. Give it a closer look). BTW, I couldn't comprehend the far too quick falling in love with "Claudia Schiffer" in LA after the death of his beloved wife
Ladies, cross the fingers that Dee experiences a wonderful first time outside of Indiana, that we, teh Redhead and teh Blond, will have sunny weather and above all that our Man is actually going to be there.
On Wednesday
Comments: Happy Day After St George's Day!
(As the OOOA lives in the heart of England, shame St Patrick's Day had more coverage.)
Susan, by making comments about MNiRC, then surely you are making the discussion a political one. I have attended both Q & A sessions so far and there have been representatives of both "sides" there, all agreeing that it is not a political play but it represents one girl's life. You can't really comment until you have seen it, can you? What do you base your assumptions on?
Yuliana, can't really see the smile in that pic. Don't recall him smiling in GoF at all. Incidentally, that's my cap from the audience at the Empire awards. It goes with one showing their place in the audience. (You really need to start crediting where you get your pics from. Hope you do it on your web-site)
And the time lapse method I described is the normal bog-standard photographer's method. The guy is clever, then.
(And I know the verification code is required to stop the spammers, but I have real trouble seeing the letter - here goes for the third time!)
Comments: Nahima: "From my POV, I took that as a proof that the exchange has been made already. " -I totally agree with you!!! The scene in her bedroom is -for me- a proof that they really "did it". Why would we see Mia in sexy underwear putting on the necklace if nothing happened???
Well, this is really an interesting question, isn't it???
Comments: I loved your post, Jan! Honestly, when I first saw the movie I took the infidelity for granted. I know it is not showed, we don't see any bed scene between Harry and the woman, but there are some hints that put my dirty mind in action! For example, during the phone call Harry did ask her what he was going to receive in return (or if he was going to receive something, sorry I can't remember the exact line). Anyway, that let us know he has left the confusion somewhat behind and is willing to make an exchange! Also, there is another scene, very short, when we can see the secretary wearing the necklace in her bedroom...hmm. That's highly suspicious! From my POV, I took that as a proof that the exchange has been made already. I don't know Jan, for me he is guilty. Bad Harry, bad! The worst part is that I wasn't neither the wife nor the secretary. Not even the necklace! I won't mind to be in his pocket for awhile. Susan, I understand your concern but I don't feel the same. I do love to read MNiRC reports and think it is unlikely anything weird may happen here only because someone tell us about its experience with the play. It's just a matter of taking the details and avoid any kind of political issues. After all, no one can make you fight or have an argument if you don't want to. Yes darkzorro93, I agree with that too! Reading other people's accounts is the next best thing to seeing the play by ourselves. (Sorry, I can't help you with your question about PL.)
What is your location? Sun is rising Comments: Dorothkam, thank you for the review. Despite the complexity of political conflicts I think it¡¯s good for Alan and Viner to put Rachel¡¯s voice onto the stage and made it be heard, maybe not just be heard. At least, it serves as a reminder to people like me who otherwise would never pay attention to the sorrow and suffering of the lives people lead in those areas. Less attention, more injustice and abuse. We should not be indifferent to that, shall we? Anyway, I agree with Jan that reading posts like yours is the next best thing to seeing the play with our own eyes.
Now, I shall ask for help. Help! I¡¯ve been listening to the songs AR sang in Private Lives for a while, but cannot tell what exactly he was singing at the beginning. I mean, can anyone tell me what he was singing before Amanda (Duncan) said ¡®a big romantic stuff¡¯??? Thank u, thank u, thank u!!!!!
Comments: The opinion from which I probably won't be swayed is regret at seeing friendly fan sites turn into political arguments, as two did last week alone, and on each discussion of the content of MNIRC was banned.
What is your location? Having a heart attack from Da Code! I thought I lost my post! Comments: Those are interesting links, CatsPlay, on the panorama pictures. The videos are fascinating. Thank you, too, dorothkam, for your post about MNiRC. It's nice to read the account of a non-professional (critic). The play will come to the U.S. and I hope that it will play somewhere near me, but until then, I hope we'll be able to read the posts of others who see it in London - it's the next best thing to seeing it.
Nahima & Brittany: I disagree!!! Since the movie leaves the degree of his transgression to our imaginations - even Karen doesn't know - I choose to believe that all he did was think about it. When he leaves the office to go shopping with Karen and the secretary asks if he'll buy something for her, he is surprised and confused. Therefore, nothing has happened up to that point. In my world, Harry never really went further than that. But just that would be enough to put doubt in Karen's mind forever - I think that's the point of not telling us what happened. It really doesn't matter. So I guess it's still "Bad Harry" after all! At my age, one relates to Karen far more than the secretary! I want to keep him to myself!!!
What is your location? england Comments: Susan, Claudia asked us not to post purely political articles with reference to MNiRC that were not so much about the actual play but more political opinions. I believe she did this at your behest. Dorothkam saw the play and posted her own thoughts and review on the play which I am sure most of us would like to hear. I understand from your posts that you hold strong political views that you may not (and why should you?) be swayed from. However, I know that you have not seen this play and I would think it would be foolhardy to judge any book, play without having some first hand knowlege of it. You state "the play is offensive to many people" however I have yet to read a report from somebody who has actually seen the play who has said that they found it offensive.
Comments: Thanks Beth, for the links!
Comments: As I cannot afford to travel and see the play by myself I really appreciate your sharing of impressions, dorothkam. Thank you very much!
Comments: Dorothkam, I have to disagree. The play is offensive to many people, and it has caused considerable conflict and unpleasantness on a number of AR sites since it presents only one side of a deeply entrenched and complicated political situation. The play has not been banned in the United States. Claudia asked us not to post articles about MNIRC on the GB; I would guess she'd prefer we not discuss the play's content, either, since arguments about Middle Eastern politics tend to be both passionate and counter-productive.
What is your location? Poland Comments: Hi, I went to London this week (probably My Last as I will have to leave the corporate world) and watched the MNiRC play on Wednesday. So my thoughts & impressions below if anyone's interested. The beginning was a bit awkward for me - Rachel is a child talking about her parents & her school. I didn't catch on immediately. But it was getting better every moment. The lines are really witty & funny (even for me - not being a native speaker I did not catch all the jokes) as well as touching. There are fragments not only of her own writings but also of her parents emails - this btw shows how brilliant her parents were. When she gets to Palestine she merely writes about what she saw with her own eyes - she stayed with people who had no arms, were opposed to violence and terror and whose homes and water supplies were destroyed. She talks about wells a couple of times as it seems she and her companions - "the internationals" - were trying to protect those wells by their sheer presence. She also puts it into a legal perspective - according to international law it's illegal to destroy civilian water supplies. The play is really touching - it is an eyewitness stand and Rickman & Vines did a wonderful thing to let her voice be heard. Even if she was indeed used and a victim of cynical politicians - she believed strongly she was protecting inncocent people from violence. I do have my own views on this conflict and I don't see it as she did but then I was not there - I only see what the media shows me and this means palestininan crowds rejoicing on 9/11, world without women, cult of suicide bombers and that is sth I just cannot accept and understand. Besides if Palestinians are - as she mentioned - so opposed to terror who asked them to vote for Hamas ? But these are my opinions and I may be wrong. She had her own based on her dearly paid for experience and it's good the world could hear them. The play in no way offensive to anybody nor is it naive or unrealistic. That the play was not allowed in US it's indeed stupid and cowardly - Alan was right. It's pathetic.

I don't think that's Alan in the picture with the guy in the mustard suit because it looks like Alan's shirt in the other pictures is white and in that picture the guy's shirt has a pattern in it. I'm not positive, though, as I haven't studied the others yet.

pat, thanks for the heads up about Becket on Film in Australia. Its really worth the watch espeically since the purchase of the box set DVD is so expensive.
Thank you for the explanation of "time lapse" photography, CatsPlay. It was very interesting.
Congrats to Vicki and Alfan for meeting. Sounds like yall had a great time. I hope yall toasted the group with a delicious beverage!
Yulia, I believe the general consensus was that the lady next to AR at the Evening Standard awards was Megan Dodds. It was never confirmed though. Also, Rima Horton did attend that event with the dear one.
Alanfan, I really don't think the man on the left in that picture is AR. My opinion is that the man in the picture is to stocky and the jowl is to full to be AR. But again, that's only my opinion.

Do you have any other problems! I think it should not interest you! And it doesn`t matter who she is! "I think so!" Be happy about the picture and don`t think!! Greetings from Sabine S.
What is your location? Frane What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickmanparadise.com Comments: Yulia : it's a photo from the South bank awards this year. Alan is surrounded by a singer, on the right and another woman on the left but it's not Rima (in my opinion)
Comments: Claudia, I think Alan is the one thats cut off next to the guy in the mustard coloured suit.
Comments: Sorry, But I should be focused on Rima again. Claudia,of course you know that I like the photo with her you've posted ,thank you!(actually I had it already). But the most important is on this site http://www.rbkc.gov.uk/YourCouncil/LocalDemocracy/le_st_charles.asp I am very anxious....She must be elected and to stay in Saint Charles Ward she must "score" enough votes. Best wishes Yulia
Comments: Hey,Ladies, thanks for the photos and I absolutely like them all,but where are they from? Those which were posted by Nahima and ARdent Jan.Sorry,I must be missed something. I have found a photo which intrigues me.Who is the woman sitting near? She is similar with...But I am not sure. With regards, Yulia
What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Brittany - I'm pretty sure that Snape photo was taken during the filming of Chamber of Secrets. But, if I'm wrong, someone here will correct me. It is a good photo. I wonder if they've filmed any Snape scenes for OotP yet.
sue & AFNH - thanks for your info on the film Let Him Have It. Now, why were we talking about this film in the first place??? Did the director have something to do with AR's next project?
I didn't get a chance to get on this board the other day but I did mention something on the Discussion Group board, so this will be a repeat for those who also read that board. On Thursday, I had the pleasure of meeting Alfan who is on vacation here from Canada. We had a great time talking about AR all day. We took the Warner Brothers tour, saw the Harry Potter exhibit and went to Whimsic Alley, a Harry Potter store in Santa Monica. It was great fun to meet someone from the GB. Even though I've lived here all my life, I probably would have never gone to those places on my own. So, many thanks to Alfan and hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation. BTW.....she says to everyone!
Comments: Great link, CatsPlay - there were several I haven't seen. A great one of Teh Lips on Page 4 - as Mesmer. The time lapse with Alan watching Alan is great, too.
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: There are some new photos of Megan Dodds, posted 4/20/06, in MNiRC, at TopFoto, here. Note, immediately following the Megan pics there is a Tango at the End of Winter pic that is a far, far stage shot with AR apparently standing in the middle that I've never seen (page 2)
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Here is the one which in which AR appears twice, over 'time'
What is your location? Under the trees Comments: Wow, CatsPlay - that's very interesting! I'll have to look for the double AR - you can never get too many of him, even in the same photo. I wondered why there were several extremely wide ones which looked sort of stitched together, but I had to get them with a screen capture and haven't yet looked at them closely.
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: Jan
As per some other photos in that group and on his site, that photographer specializes in 'time lapsed' panorama shots. I believe that shot that you reference is probably some sort of time lapse photo, thus causing the transparency.
Although I am a semi-serious photographer, I'm not entirely up to speed on the process and equipment used to accomplish this. But I believe it involves a camera that 'moves' over a period of time, perhaps in this case paired with flash to capture it.
In fact, there is at least one of those wide shots in the AR group in which AR actually appears TWICE in the photo, which I believe is a two points in time of the photo taking process.
Then again I could just be blowing hot air, but I think I'm on the right track.
What is your location? With the owls Comments: The thing about that picture (and all of the really wide ones, I think) is that it's a composite. And the division (or one of them?) is between AR and the woman. Here's a lightened version which shows it better, though you might have to zoom in a bit: His left shoulder actually disappears right behind her right shoulder. It sure gives a funny impression, though.

Thanks for sharing that Snape photo. FYI, it is a few years old, and is not from current filming, unfortunately. Perhaps someone here will remember what past film it is from.

I went to google, and found this picture: I am not quite sure, but this MIGHT be from OOTP. I couldnt read the site because it was in German (?). Even if I knew German, you need a membership to access the site, but just for crediting it is : http://www.jouwpagina.nl/aanmelden/stap2.php?dochter=harrypottersites Well, just wishing it is a new picture from filming, and Im really sorry if it isnt.
Comments: That was it, Jan, thanks for telling CatsPlay! It is obvious that lady did something, she had that kind of expression on her face that intends to pass as inocent but it's screaming GUILTY out loud. I can't blame her! This other, from Beth's link, is quite suspicious too. Here it appears more like a hard step. Btw, thanks Claudia! Yesterday I managed to grab only two.
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickman247.com Comments: I think that pic of him, sitting knock-kneed, with the old, sleeping guy next to him, with the blue background -- reminds me of a farcical-type painting or something -- it's just so ridiculous!!

What woman who apparently grabbed his back? Details, please!

Comments: Kate, count me in #1, #3, #4 and #9... well, probably #10 too but it was like that before AR. Thanks for the piccie Jan! It reminds me of the Empire event last year, when he presented Kevin Smith's prize (prize or acknowledgement?). Anyway, do you remember the woman who apparently grabbed his back? This new photo seems to have an alike experience to me. Camerata, I forgot to say before, better late than never, I love your wallpapers & icons!

I've narrowed it down to 10 defining points; 1.I have AR wallpaper on my computer 2.When I get home from work I run to the computer and do a search for anything new AR related 3.My DVD collection is getting bigger and bigger 4.I have folders and subfolders in my documents devoted to him 5.I search magazines in Smiths for any mention of him 6.When in conversation with friends and family no matter what we are talking about I manage to bring him into the conversation with 'Did you know that Alan Rickman...' 7.I search e-bay for any related items 8.I read books and pays with any connection to him 9.I visit this site for my AR fix and last 10.My family think i'm insanePlease tell me i'm not!!!

Rupert, James & Oliver talk 'Order of the Phoenix' on Radio 1 Quote: Jo: So of all the films you've done so far, which is your favourite? It is possible to say? Rupert: The first one was good fun because it was all new. I'd never done anything like it before. Jo: And what age were you, Rupert, at that point? Rupert: I was 11 when I first started. So that was a long time ago. Jo: And working with big name actors, that must have been... Rupert: Scary? Yeah. You know, like Alan Rickman, he's quite scary. Jo: Oh no, come on, do tell. I love Alan Rickman. What's he really like? Rupert: He's wicked, he is. Really nice guy. Just his voice and he's like huge. He was a bit scary at first but he's a really nice guy. Wicked, scary and nice... just the kind of guy I liked the most!

What is your location? NW PA USA Comments: I just looked at that tv-guide-type website of Rike's link through Babel Fish translator (even though it does give odd translations). I guess calling Mesmer a "Viennese Physicist" when he was, of course, a physician, isn't any odder than naming "The January Man" "In the Indication of the Virgin". . . .
darkzorro93: Well, "boil" is usually meant to mean "angry". "Hot" might be a better word???? Even though that's also used for angry as well as . . . what an AR fan might feel hearing about a naked AR scene.
What is your location? My lovely small bed Comments: Hikity !@#$%^ parts = some naked bed scenes
BTW with the help of an online dictionary, i understand why you *grin* about "dear Willy" ~HOHO~
Comments: I've just read that item about the HP books. It puzzles me how people can practice witchcraft after reading them. Now if they read some of the Nora Roberts (American author) I could believe it. HP books are written for children they are modern adventure stories. Witchcraft is hadly mentioned. Some people are unbelievable.
What is your location? in excellent mood Comments: Okeydokey, Sue, here are four then: "Yikes. Is any man on earth less fitted to the name "Willy" than Rickman?" (link from Marlina on the OT) "BAFTA AWARD winner Alan Rickman IS Willy" and "Despite being lulled by wine, sun and his old friend Willy's charm, Simon has an important mission" (your link, tks btw) as well as don't let us forget Jan's Wiener Mesmer
What is your location? GA Comments: Great minds get the same alerts, sue! *grin*
What is your location? GA Comments: sue! In the book, I really liked it when Priss would call him "Will".
Here's another little blurb about Nobel Son. This story holds special significance for me because the Danville/San Ramon area hold very special memories for me.
Danville man makes shift from hi-tech to Tinseltown
"they're hoping for a Toronto Film Festival premiere" When is the Toronto festival again, Em?
This article also mentions Marilyn Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing and Charm School as well. This film was highly recommended on the Discussion Party board a week or so ago. AND it stars that cutie bad boy, Robert Carlysle too.
Comments: Ummm. That would be HERE
Comments: Nobel Son Quote: Still, Klein is hooked. He's teaming again with Savin and Miller for "Nobel Son," about an American Nobel Prize winner whose son is kidnapped. It stars Alan Rickman, Danny DeVito and Bill Pullman; they're hoping for a Toronto Film Festival premiere.
Comments: Jan, wonderful, the Wiener, haha,
and btw MESMER was not a "Physiker", which is a physicist, but a physician...
darkzorro93, what is this: !@#$%^parts ??? Interesting word....
Claudia, thanks for the explanation - regarding the doubleyou, I'm going to ask Deb next week how she would pronounce it,

Thanks for the new German AR site, Rike!
Hikity, yes Dufus Dubya is my little pet name for GWB.
Dufus means an incompetent and stupid, though well-meaning, person; also called doofus. However I have to disagree with the "though well-meaning" part *snort*
And Dubya is the way some people spell the letter "W".
darkzorro93, thanks for the comments on Snow Cake. I am getting very restless about seeing this one.
Congrats on all that recently got Villa Golitsyn. Be sure to let us know what you think. Marlina, I promise to get your copy out to you this coming Monday.....promise cross my heart.
Comments: sonoma I agree with you about the A&C photo. As for the pic I post here earlier, it was kept in my AR pic fold under the name "66_Hostage". I know there must be sth, but the problem is i cannot remember whatever it is...~~~Now it is haunting me~~what you said is also make sense. I suspect it may be Mann Ist Mann, as there is a character in it called Mr. Wang. And, there is an actor standing on the right of the other pic from the same production who looks may be, perhaps, probable,...Besides, the whole scene suits the plot well. Oh i have no clue now.
Jan Thank you so much for the book! You are very nice!! Willy, Willy, I'm coming!~~
My friend who has watched SC at HK is very happy these days...very happy sigh~~~She told me the director and producers were there and a Q&A session was given when the movie ended. Of course Alan didn't appear. She also said the movie was very good, Alex killed someone accidentally and it was because of a car accident which happened to his son. But, Alex is a very good man. There are also some very !@#$%^parts in the movie that will make an AR fan boil. God, am I using the right word? Sorry, no pics

What is your location? sunny AND warm, wow Comments: Claudia, I always wonder how stupid people can be and I wonder too, that it is even possible to have managed to get a hearing over such a ridiculous matter, and I do not understand at all that there are people on the other hand who are afraid of a banning???? Where do we live or do I have to ask where are we floating to?? And now comes most probably a rather stupid question, I apologize beforehand, dear Claudia, but what does "Dufus Dubya" mean? From which words does this derive? Is it a synonym for GWB? Susan and Jan, I agree, there will never be an autobiography and worse, he has become very careful with spontaneous talks, autographs etc (most probably due to these internet sharks, I hate so myself).

Here's a teeny weeny little blurb about Nobel Son. Its classified here as a "dramedy". Cool beans!
Dushku – whose last series “Tru Calling” debuts on Australian PayTV next week actually – will be seen with Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman in the dramedy “Nobel Son”.
What is your location? NW PA USA Comments: darkzorro93: You've got email!
What is your location? NW PA USA Comments: You're right about that, Susan CA, he does barely answer questions. And he has said, too, that if people want to know him "It's all in the work." So . . . it'll probably never happen. It would be nice, though. And, I have to say, overall, I'd rather listen to him say anything (say - read the phone book).
Comments: I try not to hope for an authorized biography or an autobiography. He's said that the more people know about him personally, the more there is in between his work and the audience--and, of course, that's true. Also, he seems more defensive and closed down in recent interviews in the last year or two, wouldn't you say?
What is your location? NW PA USA Comments: Here's the unwatermarked version by Perfect Lurker, posted on the OT book: Laura: I did a search on GettyImages for Alan Rickman and it was on page 4 of 7. Oh - it would be so wonderful if AR would write an autobiography. According to past interviews, he doesn't (or didn't) think his personal details are important, but maybe he is more amenable to the idea of sharing whatever experiences, thoughts, and views that he might be willing to.
Comments: On a serious note, I've had a good look at that website regarding the hats, and it is for a fantastic cause. I saw that programme, and felt so much for Jonny. He was from the North East too, and I see some of the NE slebs are getting behind it too. Let's hope the auction goes well.
What is your location? Italy Comments: emteee and sue, thank you for the wonderful piccies, they're I love that hat! Claudia, thank you for fixing the script writer problem!
Comments: Vicki - Let Him Have It starred Christopher Eccleston, the previous Dr Who, a very good actor, and a very good film. Oh! I can just see That Hat being donated, his wardrobe won't be lost without it - teehee! Can't see him donating the Fish Scarf somehow, he seems fond of that one. Old Dermot a closet Rickman fan, eh? Maybe we should petition him to get Our Man on the Breakfast Show. That is one morning I'd mos def sleep-in for the office!
Comments: That's great news about the hat auction--I'm so curious to see what AR's hat looks like. I remember watching that program about Jonny Kennedy and EB--what a devastating disease.
Regarding the early theater photo posted by Camerata and DarkZorro93, I remember that one, too. I think I've seen at least 2 different photos from the same production. I know this came up last year, and I'm still wondering if it could be from A Man's a Man, which was a musical by Brecht with a military theme. It was at Bristol in 1977 which would seem to make him too old for how he looks, but then when you see him in photos of Antony and Cleopatra with the RSC the next year, he looks about 17! I don't know much about "The Hostage" though. Is it the play by Brendan Behan?
Comments: That would be HERE

Funny you should say that Michelle, I had a similar thought myself. They might also try and get him on the show as well.
quote It's a tiny grasp at something, but if Alan is able to set up meetings between a well known publishing company (as far as I recall, Random House published all of Dan Brown's works...) and his friends, might be be in the process, or be open to persuasion to write his own autobiography
What is your location? GA Comments: Thank you for the little tid-bit, Michelle! Good ear on hearing it and wonderful of you to share. If it weren't for everyone here, we'd surely be behind the AR times.
I really like Anna Massey. I hope she does do a book. And how about AR??? Sounds like just the mere mention of something gets his creative juices flowing!
In getting caught up, I see there was a little blurb about Villa Golitsyn! I just have to let out a little YAY here! Making progress. I'll be happy when the other roles are named.
On the hat front....its going to be interesting to see what AR donates as well as Bill Nighy and Emma Thompson! You gotta know BN's and ET's is going to be a hoot. Graham Norton must have a virtual smorgasbord of funny hats to choose from just from his show.
Comments: thank you, Nahima!
Comments: Vicki, yes that was the film. It was a terrible story wasn't it? The boy who fired the shot was too young to hang so they hanged Derek Bentley instead because they said he shouted out "Let Him have it, Chris" The police said this meant he was telling him to fire but the defence maintained that he was telling him to give over the gun. Either way he should never have hanged and his poor sister campaigned for almost 50 years to get him a pardon which was finally awarded in 1998. She died a year later. Sadly times haven't really changed and there are still gross miscarriages of Justice happening every year which is one very good reason why the Death Penalty should never be introduced.

Comments: My problem was that I couldn't get on this morning. My anti-pop-up thing was obviously jamming it which is a relief. I wonder which hat Alan has donated, maybe that awful thing from his anti-war march? Here's that other Cambridge Jones pic:
Comments: While flicking channels early this morning, I stumbled on BBC1; they had their early morning 'Breakfast Show' on at that time and one of their guests was the delightful Anne Massey. She was on to talk about her new autobiography, the presenters asked her how it came about and she said that she mentioned to a few 'friends' that she'd be interested in penning her life story and in the end, Alan Rickman set up a meeting with Random House, a publishing company.
It was only a brief mention for Alan, but the two presenters (the delightful Dermot Murnaghan, for any UKers out there!) seemed quite pleased and even said "Good for Alan Rickman, then!" quite a few times in response.
It's a tiny grasp at something, but if Alan is able to set up meetings between a well known publishing company (as far as I recall, Random House published all of Dan Brown's works...) and his friends, might be be in the process, or be open to persuasion to write his own autobiography?

Comments: Ooh, I got it Claudia, thanks for the explanation! So it was someone who posted something yesterday and screwed the place. Hey, the popups showed an Intel site, could this be reported to the website toolbox administration? Bad people, that's a nasty way of publicity...
What is your location? GA Comments: Nahima, a script writer is the same as a spammer but a little worse. They write script to force you to visit their website instead of posting links like the regular spammers.
Comments: Laura, it is from Getty Images, I've just checked it and it appears on page 4 of the seven pages of AR photos. It's between all the other Cambridge Jones portraits we've seen before. Hope this works, here is the link.
Comments: Excuse my ignorance Claudia but... What is a script writer?
Comments: thank you for taking care of the GB Claudia! It's nice to have it back Jan, I checked all my bookmarks but I wasn't able to find the same photo you posted on the other GB....how did you find it if I can ask? thank you again for sharing!!!
What is your location? GA Comments: Grrrrrrrr.....script writer on the left.....ARDL-GB group on the right!
Comments: Yeah, everything is fine now Claudia!
What is your location? GA Comments: OK ladies, we should be back in business now. We had a little nasty script writer take over for a bit but its now been taken care of. Sorry for all the problems.
Comments: Hello friends! We're suffering here of a popup curse, I can only post using the invincible Opera browser, Netscape got hysterical with so many windows and have to kill it every time I tried. But still I can just see today posts, the others are not shown. Let's send a full load of good vibrations to Claudia and the Website toolbox thingy so they can fix this! (I can't find the group hug smiley but this one is not so bad. ) Nice Thursday for everybody!
Comments: Camerata, That is interesting...wonder what kind of hat Alan has donated...? Will look into the auction when it begins on 27th April. I saw that documentary on tv and it was very moving. A worthy charity indeed.
