Comments: Hello everyone! Hope you will have a very hilarious and happy New Year! Please click on this link http://www.icq.com/specials/newyear_2007/ to see a cute congratulation.
Good luck!
Comments: Methinks Dumpy's argument is with the world's anthropologists and not with the refreshingly ironic and ever helpful sue. (I mean, really. An entire branch of "science" devoted to the study of race, environment, and culture, noting the norms and aberrations? Why, that's a poppycock! )
P.S. Luv, I think Claudia said she was planning a big update to the main Download Haven site as soon as she gets some "down time." I'm guessing those links will disappear then.
What is your location? Paris Comments: bien joué Camerata !! tu nous raconteras
Comments: Dumpy: you throw a fight, insult and expect people to go along with that? I'm a 100% sure you want to cause a fight.
Comments: BTW - Claudia, have you ever considered moving all the wonderful video links at the top of the page to somewhere else? They are so valuable, but there are now so many that it takes forever for the guestbookpage to open for me -- and when it does I have to scroll halfway down the page to reach the posts. Forgive my complaint. Perhaps I'm the only one that this effects (slow computer). You do a wonderful job with this site and I greatly appreciate your efforts.
Comments: Thanky very muchy for the explaination, Sue . Then this was not an insult to AR, but a fond comparison of this manager to various well-known actors? Does anyone know where AR is now? Wonder how he is celebrating the New Year.
Comments: Dumpy, this is the final time time I am ever going to reply to anything you have to say to me but I can assure you that you have no more idea of my levels of "happiness" than I do about yours. I think you will just have to accept that different races and nationalities have different levels of humour and I can only surmise that you perhaps don't appreciate the British habit of "irony" (oh and I can't resist the old Blackadder joke about Americans thinking "Irony is something you use to flatteny the clotheys with!" See! I just can't stop myself!)
I don't recall ever saying anything personal to you (although I'm sure you will have something on file!) other than advising you to stop posting on sites that upset you, (which just seemed common sense to me) and then being rather tired of you bringing your complaints onto Claudia's about stuff that had nothing to do with her board.
I shan't be entering into any further dialogue on this matter and wish you a Happier New Year.
Note from Claudia, GA--Normally I would delete this post because the offending post from "Dumpy" was deleted. However, I am in full agreement with sue and really wish Dumpy would leave her nastiness at the door instead of inflicting it on everyone here.
Dumpy, please, if you don't have anything nice to say...please don't say anything!
Comments: Luv, I think he's know for being a bit of a drama queeen on the touchline. He has a bit more character (and looks) than your average balding, fat football manager.
Comments: Could one of our English posters explain this lead-in paragraph from the Independent? I can't understand why AR is even mentioned here: Quote: Smouldering Mourinho misses cue in Stamford panto - oh yes he does Theatre critic Michael Coveney watches the Premiership's Cary Grant fail to find his motivation as Chelsea's West End promise ends up somewhere North by NorthwestEveryone seemed to be on their best behaviour at Stamford Bridge, none more so than the Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, the sulky Alan Rickman of the Premiership with the good looks of an ageing Brad Pitt. For once, he left the embarrassing pantomime performance moment to his own players. Here is the link: http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/premiership/article2105989.ece

What is your location? Windblown in Folkestone Comments: Gosh Elaine you're making me a little scared now, I was going to walk with my daughter back to the underground station after the Perfume Q&A, but now I am going to get a taxi to Charing X railway station, better safe than sorry, damn the expense! Getting mugged would definitely put a damper on the evening!
Unless as you say dear Alan would care to give us a lift!!! (Flutters eyelids)

Q & A after Perfume, eh? I have the time off, the opportunity - but, alas, not the inclination anymore. Kilburn High Road late at night? Yes, sue, it would definitely be a little dodgy! And no big strong bloke to escort me - unless someone would give me a lift in their "celeb carrier" Merc!
What is your location? So long since I've posted, I've forgotten! Comments: Just winging in with this link: http://www.markadler.com/notes/notes.html
It's the first pic of Noble Son that I've seen. Sorry if it's already been posted.

Comments: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you wonderful ladies.
What is your location? New York Comments: Taking a break from festivities today, I found this interesting little remark at http://hisspit.livejournal.com dated today)
"Mike's mom has worked with Alan Rickman on 2 separate occasions as part of continuing education workshops for lawyers. Actors are hired to work with the lawyers as witnesses in a sort of mock trial simulation. Apparently Alan Rickman likes to play witnesses because he thinks it's more worthwhile and fun than a straight up acting class."
I don't know if there's any truth to it, but I thought it was cute!
What is your location? GA Comments: Hi Hikity! Hope you're well! "Toodles" means toodle-loo, very old saying for "good-bye" or see you later". Well, at least here in South.
Comments: Nicketynick, what does "Toodles" mean, ?

What is your location? Virginia Beach, VA Comments: Merry Christmas to All from Virginia Beach, VA. I'm pretty tired this AM, since I sang in the choir for Midnight Mass last night and didn't get to bed until 2:00AM! I had to get up at 6:00AM this morning to put a turkey the size of a schnauzer in the oven! It was all good however, as three out of four grown children were able to be there! Happy New Year to all! Maryland
Comments: Moin, moin, everybody. We had a beautiful Holy Night. My dear Chris, Father Christmas must have been joking cz asbestos is forbidden in Europe, . He therefore wore a black polo-neck jumper and very tight black trousers (which is his usual outfit UNDER his enormous red coat, btw) when he entered our house. He has known our family for so long that he is no longer afraid of our tradition... It is Rudolph, who has had a really hard time this year. Tanja had a nice chat with him and he confided to her that he feels utterly ridiculous with pulling a sledge with cartwheels instead of vats - poor reindeer, indeed Far and wide NO SNOW in sight Hugs H.
What is your location? is this...wait..am I getting a cld AGAIN?! Comments: Ok, ok, my turn to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I ran into Santa this morning at the diapers section in the supermarket and after about half an hour of complaints regarding fuel price and a really bad arthritis he told me to tell everyone he'll do his best so that everyone will get what they wished for. Oh, he also said you people are such a merry bunch, he'll happily trade his elves for you and take you in his service. Then he went on telling me how every year, when it's time to visit Hikity's place he has to put on an asbestos suit but that's a whole different story... Again, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

to All of you! I am enjoying this site tremendously and I want to say a special thank you to Claudia to keep it going and to Everyone who posts reports, recent news, photos, articles, etc. on AR! It is a nice place to visit!
Here in Switzerland today, December 24th (Christmas Eve) is the day to celebrate: this is the day the family gathers together under the Christmas Tree to sing songs and to open presents - followed by a lovely meal! So soon I am off to my Mom's for the Holidays!
Once again a BIG THANK YOU to all other AR fans to keep this great site going and a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you!
Cheers from Switzerland

What is your location? england Comments: Another nice review of Perfume Also yesterday's Guardian had this article about Ben Whishaw I've been here for almost a year now and I'd like to say a massive Thank You to everyone who posts here and makes this site such a great place to visit. Also to Claudia and Sabine for keeping it going A very Happy Christmas (or whatever) to everyone
Comments: Vicki, dear, of course real candles - this is tradition and not nerv-racking at all, lol. The whole year I light candles in the evening, when learning, reading, watching TV or just talking and discussing "important world stuff" - it calms me (IKEA has these vanilla-ones I love so much). We have a fire place, too.. Now I really have to start with the preparations for tonight, e.g. decorating our X-mas tree - my sweetheart daughter wants a "red one" for a change and I am going to take pics which I then post on my Lj Hugs and wonderful holidays again Hikity

Came out of lurkdom long enough to say Hi, and Happy Holidays and to let the oldies that remember me know that I finally graduated this December--with honors even!! and in Jan. What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Hikity - will you be decorating your tree tonight with real lighted candles? What a wonderful (but nerve-wracking) tradition. I think I would be too nervous to take my eyes off of the tree and would be standing by with a fire extinguisher at the ready just in case. But I'm sure you are very safe in all that you do.
Wishing you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! May your stockings be filled with AR goodies!
A Happy Hanukkah, A Happy Kwanzaa, and a Happy Festivus for the rest of us!

Playbill.com lists MNIRC & all the surrounding controversey as one of its Top Ten Theatre news stories of 2006.
Comments: I found a track from Nobel Son OST. It's REKELECTRIK - 1-2-3-4 RUSH IT and can be heard on Mick Park's MySpace blog HERE Click on Slider No.8 on the Mick Park Media Player to listen.
From the blog: Quote: As well working on the album Mick has now taken his first steps into film with Rekelectrik; producing one of the pivitol tracks in the score to the forthcoming film Nobel Son. The score has been overseen by Paul Oakenfold, himself a big fan of Rekelectrik. "Rekelectrik can do no wrong," says Oakenfold, "now they're working on material for films the skies the limit!". Other contributers to the score include Underworld, Groove armada, Moby and Basement Jaxx. Nobel Son is due out next year starring Danny de Vito and Alan Rickman, Ted Danson.

What is your location? New York Comments: For those of us living in the US, tonight on the "Jay Leno Show", Dustin Hoffman will be a guest, speaking about "Perfume". If anyone can't watch it and wants to, a video clip will be online tomorrow at nbc.com
What is your location? New York Comments: For anyone living in the LA area, on Dec. 27 also, Perfume will be showing at the Arclight Cinema in Los Angeles on Sunset Blvd. Tix are not on sale yet, tho.
What is your location? New York Comments: I don't think so. He was in London on Dec.5 for the showing of Perfume there (the pix w/Tim Burton & Jane Horrocks). The latest pix that were on the board here were from the charity showing of SC in Toronto on Nov.28.
BTW (& I posted this at your board also):
"Perfume" will be premiering at the Angelika Film Center, 18 W. Houston St. NY 212-995-2570 on Dec.27. They don't have any info in their computers yet. The info will be updated either Sunday or Monday.
Also, for any Rickmaniacs living in Houston, Dallas or Plano: "Perfume" will be showing in those cities on Jan.5,2007 at the Angelika Film Centers in each city.
Comments:
I just meant that he could have gone during previews. He was definitely in London -- last week -- wasn't it - the last set of pics from a party or something?
What is your location? New York Comments: Yep, I know. It was in previews for what seemed like an endless amount of time. It actually opened on Dec.10
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.Rickmanalysis.com Comments: Carolyn,
According to Playbill, Spring Awakening started previews on November 17.
Comments: Thanks for the link, Carolyn. Looks a bit as if history were repeating itself. I'm curious whether we will get some more detailed information in the next days.
What is your location? New York Comments: In the HERE WE GO AGAIN DEPARTMENT:
Dated December 22, 2006:
From http://www.thestar.com and reported again at http://www.torontoist.com/archives/2006/12
According to Martin Bragg, the artistic producer of Canstage, MNIRC WILL NOT be coming to Toronto under his tutelage. Officially, he states the reason as being when he finally saw the play in NYC (after reading Rachel's diary and being so moved by it), he thought it "sucked". Unofficially, the same criteria that almost prevented it from being shown in NY is supposed to have played a major part in Bragg's cancellation.
What is your location? New York Comments: At: http://ottawasun.com/Showbiz/Movies Excellent SC review

What is your location? New York Comments: Cats...LOL...At the time I was hunting (in the wee small hours of the morning, btw) I noticed the person worked on "Spring Awakenings", but didn't have the energy to look any further or to discover male or female! :-) What surprised me, was the "...again" comment: inferring that he had seen the play once before. IIRC, it only opened on or about Dec.13. Sooo.....question of the day to ponder: Has he been in NY for almost a week? You mentioned "Snow Cake". It could also be "Perfume", since that's opening here on Dec.27 Damn, it was so much easier when we knew which continent he was on!
Comments: Excellent sleuthing, Carolyn and CatsPlay!
Comments: Lot's of Perfume reviews about today: The Guardian gives it two stars (and doesn't miss a chance to take another pop.) London Evening Standard gives it three stars. Inthenews.co.uk seem to like it. The Glasgow Daily record give it three stars. The Times gives four stars. The Independent give it two stars and think Rickman is "quite miscast" The Mirror gives it three stars.

Great find, Carolyn!
The correct link is jewellwelles.livejournal.com (livejournal addresses do not use www).
That post she made about him 'being back' was kind of obscure. Diggiing around her LJ, it appears that she works in theater, in some capacity, on the show Spring Awakening. So, I assume her post to mean that Alan went to see the show 'again' last night. When she says the 'kids' only have reference to him as Snape, I wonder what kids she is referring to? Perhaps she is an older person and she's referring to the actors in the play as 'kids'?
In any case, the case is building that the man is back in NYC. Wonder why?? *prays profusely for play negotiations*
Perhaps for upcoming Snow Cake publicity??

Comments: AssociatedContent is a site where anyone can upload reviews or articles about various subjects. It's not necessarily "professional journalism." Unlike sites that tabulate visitors' votes (i.e. Starpages), the link posted is basically one fan's review of the AR sites she likes and is the equivalent of what someone would post on their LJ/blog.

And that guy is drinking a drink in the second picture. Hmmm, to be a fly on that wall? All i know is now that i have seen whats in Alan's right hand, i must be getting me a nice vodka and OJ.
And the guy in the picture with Alan, all i can say is DOES ANYONE HAVE A PAIR OF TWEEZERS OR A FRICKEN PAIR OF HAIR CUTTING SCISSORS!!!!!!!
What is your location? Quebec Comments: I just knew there had to be pics. of that Autism benefit at Roots somewhere. Thanks a bunch for these, that first one , the full length unobscured view, is especially gooood.

Comments: bronte, Vera, first answer from one prof: very far-fetched, ridiculous and I agree
Unfortunately, the British customs don't allow backpacks to be taken into planes for the time being, lol
Comments: The idea to liken Grenouille to Hitler is not new. We already talked about it when we discussed the book in school 15 years ago. There's this nice little sentence on p. 58 of the German edition, which says that Grenouille wanted to become the "größte Parfumeur aller Zeiten".

Comments: New Jan, here is a somehow funny article about echinacea: http://blythdale.tripod.com/coventryequestriancenter/id43.html but be careful with such pieces of advice in general cz all medicaments have side effects and not everyone can just take echinacea! There are serious contraindications, too... Ciao bellas and no, Claudia, I haven't yet finished my X-mas preparations - Fortunately, I don't have to cook this year as we are "on the road" paying visits to our parents. But I still have NO SINGLE pressi for hubby - it's terrible, I am devastated,lol...at least I found a really beautiful tree yesterday. Bye bye
Comments: bronte, thanks for this NY Sun article! Very interesting, indeed. You know the problem with professors (university) nowadays is that often they believe they need to express new ideas for analysis and interpretation of old stuff and come up with the most astonishing suggestions. However, Prof. Tiger unfortunately neglects politeness towards his colleagues - he doesn't use hedges but throw his bits to our feet like facts...and he is not a prof of literature btw but of anthropology - wow
Well, nevertheless, his article is interesting enough to forward it to other professors (of literature in my case) which I have already done and I am quite eager to get an answer, hihi.
Süskind was born in 1949 - he has never ever experienced anything what happened before his time , but Tiger states: there is a real-lief version of this character, who had to have infected Süskind - wow, that's a proposition you shouldn't do within a discourse community (you rather use said hedges).
Maybe we should ask Süskind himself - he is no longer so reclusive he used to be - After all he has given his permission to Eichinger to make the film. Of course, Tiger could argue that authors often do not register the real implications of what they wrote themselves....lol thanks again for finding this article!

Ladies, this is OT but with the flu and cold season upon us, can I recommend/remind you about Echinacea? It's a herbal remedy you take as soon as you feel the bug coming on.
Last Thursday I went to bed early feeling very poorly, but had a heavy weekend to get through. I took Echinacea (the syrup works best for me) and the next morning felt fine. Had a mammoth shopping spree, a party on Saturday and hosted a family lunch on Sunday. It really works.

Comments: Wow, ladies, what an excellent idea about signing photos! For me it's great, but..next time
Here http://www.stuff.co.nz/3905065a1869.html is a nice article
When they line up actors of such gloriously hammy charm as Bill Nighy, Rachel Griffiths, Alan Rickman, Warren Clarke and Natasha Richardson on a Sunday night, and then add improbable amounts of glitter, bouffant hairdos and mad 80s dance tunes, then you just have to go along with it.
What is your location? UK Comments: Lex, I haven't got your email address either.
Here's mine if you want to email me.
Is it just the three of us going from this board?
Comments: I shall not forget to include my email address!!! *sigh*
Comments: Alfan, I'd be delighted. Do you have a fav picture of the man? Please email me with any suggestions of a photograph you might have in case there's one in particular you'd like to have. Otherwise I'd be glad to assist and make it a special wedding gift ) I'm sure he'll sign anything to make a wife-to-be very happy don't you think? I'm sorry for the OT, but scrolling down I couldn't find a link to Alfan's email. Sorry again
Comments: That's a rather unique article. I wonder what the film would be like without Linda.
Comments: Sorry, Carolyn, I've just seen the other article posted by Sue and I assume you meant that one....nice article and nice photo, absolutely.
Comments: Sue, thanks for the article....Carolyn??? I don't agree at all and rated the article "poor". Weaver is great - the movie is wonderful imho Susan, I know, it depends his mood, doesn't it? Nevertheless, I'd love to hear everything!

Sure will do If I get the chance to capture him after! Every meeting is so different, you never know what's going to happen!
The question is...do I do a report on the evening or not????
Comments: Lex, you are a sweetie and I do hope we'll meet next year! Susan, old girl , I wish you a great evening, don't forget to take some lovely pics and please send my kindest regards to (from the crazy German who travels through Europe in order to see Snow Cake, lol)- DON'T FORGET IT !!!
Alfan, thanks for your invitation. Keith will be delighted to meet us all in June
Comments: Alfan, don't worry so much. Our man signed four pics for me the last time I met him and he did it very nicely he was in a good mood taking his funny remarks into account. But he could easily see that these signatures would not find their way to ebay (books: S&S; Winter Guest, Snow Cake and Perfume brochures with other autographs of TT etc on the poster )
Comments: This photo: goes with THIS article.
What is your location? Canada Comments: Lex, are you serious. You would do that for me. Oh, man, that would be sooooooo sweet. I would be honored with an actual autograph. I would be happy if he signed Alan Rickman, i would be elated if he wrote best wishes, Alan Rickman. And i would be totally flippin out if he wrote Carmen, best wishes, Alan Rickman. Do you want me to send a picture over there or do you have one, I would do almost anything for you..........but remember our man does not like to sign more than one autograph from the same person as he believes it to go on e-bay.......gotta love him........
You are awesome to think of me like that. It would be the best wedding present i could ask for.
Comments: NEWJan and I had hoped for Santa to be good to me this year Would you mind emailing me your details? What time will you be there? Shall we meet up before or after the Q&A for a glass of wine or other? Alfan, please email me the details for the autograph request again. Let's see what we can do about it, won't we? A picture or something to be signed? Hikity, Peek and others. I'm very sorry for you,and it'll be a real loss not having you all around. Let's make the next possibility ours. I already said to Laura that I will come and get fetch her, meaning to travel down all the way to Italy, should she even try to avoid travelling and meet us! Seriously, it'll be only half the fun without you! One more thing, sorry for all the OT again! Perhaps should have put my posting into the Discussion Party? Someone asked for a Christmas card contest, right? Uhm well, if you hurry you still have a chance to send your card(s) in. In return there'll be awards to the winners. For more information, please see here. (Scroll down to the entry of 2nd December) Nighty night and sweet dream all
What is your location? New York Comments: Stressfordpoet...Thanks for replying! I think I can safely say that there was no offense taken nor inconvenience caused. It has to do with frustration regarding inaccuracies and half-truths reported on the net. All of us in the AR community are usually pretty diligent regarding accuracy of posts and will try to quell unsubstantiated rumor and innuendo quickly. As Sgt.Joe Friday used to say in "Dragnet","Just the facts..."

Noble but unfortunately probably not reaching the people it should.
What is even more irksome is that the incident that the original blogger described was from April 2005, and the Ohnotheydidnt recap insinuates that the situation occured as a result of/during the FALL 2006 run of MNiRC.
*shakes head*

I saw that posting when it first showed up & tried to respond. However, Stressfordpoet's LJ is friends locked and you have to receive permission to join ONTD in order to post.
While I really don't doubt the original source of the information, it's an unfortunate disadvantage of the internet that anyone can pick up any piece of info and post it anywhere! (and it doesn't even have to be true)

Too bad they didn't bother to check the original source, http://blog.myspace.com/bubbletoesoffortitude, which made NO mention of Alan receiving such threats. Whether he did, who knows - it's entirely possible. The point is the statement has now been stated as fact in a very public forum.
What is your location? New York Comments: Norma & Jessika, this is what the director, Alex Winter's, fansite says: (dated March 24, 2004):
New York-based commercials, music video and movie producer Crossroads Films has optioned rights to the screenplay, "Acts of Charity" by UK screenwriter Chips Hardy & Alex Winter, the London based film-maker who is also attached to direct the film. Alan Rickman is attached to play the role of British ex-pat journalist in the film which follows the trials and tribulations of a young corporate executive sent on a hopeless humanitarian mission deep into the jungles of a struggling African nation. Crossroads, which as a first-look deal with MGM/United Artists, describes the film as in the darkly comic spirit of Catch22, Mash and Three Kings. Crossroads principals, Dan Lindau and Cami Taylor will co-produce the film with Paul Miller (who produced Lone Star, Prozac Nation). Winter, most famous for playing Bill in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and its sequel, first directed Fever, starring Henry Thomas which primiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1999 and is currently writing and directing the Napster story for MTV original Pictures.

Comments: Woooow I'm really interested by the travel to London to see Alan but it's not in a long time, so I'll think about it
Comments: Damn, if only I'd known about the Rickman article. I work in a huge newspaper retailer in Britain and (despite what they tell you) many of the warehouse suppliers don't pick up the weekly newspaper returns from shops (i.e the papers that aren't sold) until Monday morning. That means there'd be some Times newspapers laying around in store rooms of newsagents all over the country - and for definite in my shop :[ I could've taken one as late as yesterday. Sob. Next time I'm in work will be Thursday and they'll definitely have been picked up by then.
What is your location? excited!!!!! Comments: What a fantastic start to the new year!! Just booked two tickets for myself and daughter Angelina to go and see Perfume with the Alan Q&A after on 3rd Jan! Front row, middle!!! Will anyone else will be joining me? Let me know!

What is your location? Canada Comments: Oh if only i could. You guys, i have a wedding to pay for next year so i couldnt even afford the paper for the plane fiight ticket to get over there. I would so love to come there. And Keith and I will come to visit your lovely land one day, I have always loved the royal family and have collected books and stuff on Charles and Di since 1981 and always wanted to come there since then. You guys enjoy yourself and hey, if any of you get a chance to get an autograph, get him to sign it "Carmen, best wishes, and good luck on your wedding" hee hee.
Oh and by the way, if any of you's do decide to visit Canada, then you have a place to stay. I have an extra beddroom. Although this doesnt help if you decide to visit Toronto because i am three days away from there but hey, if you want to visit the praries of Canada, then im your woman. June is nice. And there just happens to be a wedding in June. And a honeymoon in NY in July.

What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.Rickmanalysis.com Comments: Apparently there were some articles in The Times (UL) possibly on December 14, containing a new photo and interview with AR.
See this post on my LJ for details.
The photo is actually from an ebay auction and not great. Would anyone from the UK happen to have access to this print article that can scan a higher quality verison of the photo?
The online article is dated December 14, and the ebay auction describes it as a 'newspaper supplement'.
Again, details here.
*crosses fingers!*
Comments: Well, at least he will be in the same city and thus theoretically meetable *lol* I agree, sue, that a night trip home might spoil the fun of it all. And it would make it even less relaxed... Sorry to be "off-topic."
Comments: Don't think I shall be able to get to Kilburn to see Perfume. It's not the easiest of places (or most salubrious) to get to from the South side of London and worrying about getting back to Waterloo to get the last train to the stix on my own would probably take the edge of the event.
Comments: OMG - I have a flight to London on 3rd January - but as it is the day I will be arriving there - and my accomodation is in Hertford, I will probably not manage to be back in London in time Hmmm....
Comments: Chance to meet Hikity,Peekabooh, Lex, Sue and Sheena and see the man in the flesh and hear the mesmerizing voice,,,,,,,,,,,,,PRICELESS. Alfan, now you´re talking! Have you booked yet? I too checked flights but they seem to be very expensive, not to mention our hotel Hikity...(!) Have to think it over, though it´s tempting.
Comments: Hello girls! Wow, I am so glad for you that you will watch Perfume! I assure - you will be charmed by the music, because when one hears its music only, it can't affect, but the scenes and music taken together...splendor!
By the way, we have to admit that today My Name Is Rachel Corrie ends its New York premiere at Off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre.
Comments: Lex, flights and our hotel are expensive beginning of January (no idea why...). I have to pay more for a single room than for the double room in September - funny. I'll check other possibilites
Comments: Alfan, I think the same and Cats is right - we shouldn't create any rumours here - therefore, we are all coming to Canada next year to your new home where we can close doors and fire away Keith will be delighted LEEEEXXXXX!!!! I am checking flights and hotel and Peek, OMG, this craziness will never end
What is your location? Canada Comments: Catsplay, so sorry if i came accross rude. Not my intentions. You know what, i bet although we all have disagrements sometimes if we were all in one room together it would be the warmest most friendliest and comfortable place on the face of the earth. What is your location? Canada Comments: Guys i believe that, Vicki was just making a comment, not starting a rumour ( she didnt say he did, just that maybe he did). I wouldnt doubt it either. I could say the same thing about something else like " i bet since Megan drank Perrier water Alan did too". Its not a big deal. I say we move on. I just hate to see people start bickering on this site when there is no need to.
What is your location? Belgrade, Serbia Comments: Hey guys! It's been a while since I posted here and most (if not all) of you probably don't remember me. I'm sorry to drop in on you like this with an almost completely off topic post, but I'm kinda desperate. I've recently become obsessed with the BBC show Spooks. Adore it completely. Anyway, when I first started watching it wasn't long before I realized that I knew the Boss Spook from somewhere... hmmm... So, Praise to the Glory of Internet and a couple of clicks later and I found out it was Peter Firth.... a.k.a Bunny from An Awfully Big Adventure. Embarrassing really, since I've seen the film more times than could possibly be healthy. Funny and sweet though Bunny is, guess my mind was on other stuff.. And this is where we come to the source of my desperation. I dusted off the VCR, popped in the tape and realized that from the point where P.L. appears till the end my tape is almost completely ruined. ((( The fist half of it isn't that great either. It reminded my why I started hating video cassettes so much in recent years - they're completely unreliable! So, does anyone have any idea where/how I might be able to acquire the film in some sort of digital format (DVD,divx or whatever)? I couldn't find it anywhere online to dload. Also, ordering it from an online store (Amazon or something) is out of the question. It would've been the perfect solution and I wouldn't be bugging you like this, but there was some trouble in my country this summer with tax evading and catalogue shopping. So in their infinite wisdom our government increased the postage and customs rates (on everything!!!!) so much (about five times the Amazon's price of a dvd) that I just can't afford it. Thanks in advance guys. So as not to clutter the board with this could you please email me to israelyatesatgmaildotcom. Any help and idea would be appreciated. Thanks.. -Jelena To Mod/s: I am sorry if this post is inappropriate. Please, feel free to delete it. I don't want to cause any trouble.
Comments: I think it is a sensitive topic and that we should be cautious, if even discussing it at all. First of all, the information originated from a personal blog, not a documentable source. Secondly, there were no mention of threats to AR, yet speculations regarding the possibility have already arisen with a few posts.
I think this *is* how rumors get started, and my thinking is that it's not something we should discuss.
We should be discreet regarding anything that involves the safety of AR or anyone else.
JMHO.
Comments: In this case I'm sure that chances are slim that by discussing this topic we would start a rumour. If people threatened MD who portrayed RC, how difficult is it to imagine that the same people threatened AR (and KV) for creating and directing the play?
Comments: Why even go there?" is an expression meaning, "Why talk about something so terrible or unpleasant?" WHich was my response when I read that remark of Vicki's -- we have no idea if it even happened with AR, so why say "it's a safe bet" (meaning, "it has to be true") ???? This is how rumors get started.
What is your location? Ol' Germany, colder every minute Comments: Elizabeth, what do you mean by "WHY even go there????"? just ask as I don't understand the meaning - arrrgh, just finished my studies in English please have patience with me...
Comments: Well it's a pretty safe bet that if Megan Dodds was receiving death threats, that AR received a few as well.
Since we DON'T know this, WHY even go there????
Comments: OMG I didn't know for Megan and the death threats, that's horrible !!!
What is your location? philippines Comments: hello guyz...you know what, i really envy you all coz you are all able to see those new AR films...dear claudia told me already to buy the DVD...and i have to buy those abroad....hhmmm. any other suggestions my friends???

Bronte, Yulia. emilia and Carolyn, thanks a lot for all the interesting reviews Quote: "it’s hard to see why she would be attracted to such a wet blanket" OMG...no further comments
Hubby had a fantastic surprise for me yesterday: He gave me 3 DVDs as an extra present for my exam: Perfume, Snow Cake and Brokeback Mountain plus 2 CDs by Van Morrison - I was speechless. Yes, you can buy them officially in Baku as I mentioned before and of course I know.... Nevertheless, they have all excellent quality. SNOW CAKE - wow -
Have all a wonderful last weekend before X-mas Hugs

What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: That was interesting to read, Carolyn, thanks.
Well it's a pretty safe bet that if Megan Dodds was receiving death threats, that AR received a few as well. What's wrong with people who do that??? I suppose it makes them feel important. I'm sure the majority of them are just cowardly weirdos but you can't take any chances just in case you stumble across that one sick-o who is willing to follow through on their threats. Is it any wonder that AR is reluctant to talk to the press unless he is promoting a film?
What is your location? New York Comments: There's an excellent review of MNIRC at: http://blog.myspace.com/bubbletoesoffortitude by a 25yr.old young lady who had worked on the play in London and saw it last night. Would you, resp. your "Göttergatte" scan it and post it here, pleeeeease!
Thank you in anticipation!

where is that field? How can I get there?
What is your location? New York Comments: Claudia, it's SBC who'll be doing the "rapping" because he can't sing well. When I said that Alan passed his test, I meant (facetiously) that he was given the OK by Sondheim to sing his own songs. LOL...my powers to elucidate my thoughts have totally gone by the wayside!
What is your location? UK Comments: Firstly: HAPPY BIRTHDAY NAHIMA! Hope the day is filled with good things.
OK - AR dream to report. Can't explain this one:
My teenage son and his friend are standing in a field having an egg-throwing competition. My son lobs an egg far across to the other side of the field just as AR appears. The egg hits AR and splatters his shirt. AR strides across to us and I apologise profusely. AR not amused. I wake.
The strange thing is, the following night I dreamt I met Emma Thompson in a field. What is going on?
What is your location? GA Comments:
Have a super duper day, Nahima!!!!
I am so flattered for the mention in the link sue provided. Thanks so much for posting it, sue! But I reinterate once again that its everyone here that makes the site what it is because without yall, there wouldn't be much to upload at all. I guess we'll really knock the lady's socks off after I make the updates in a few weeks! Pat on everyone's back!!!!
Thanks for the link Yulia! That was an interesting read.
Carolyn, AR rapping??? OMG that is going to be good! I'm getting so excited about ST!!!!

What is your location? New York Comments: IMO, this has to be one of the funniest stories to hit the internet today:
Reportedly, Sascha Baron Cohen has been told he will not be allowed to sing his songs in Sweeney Todd due to the fact that supposedly his voice is too low for the songs; or perhaps? he can't sing! (The songs his character has are pretty difficult, even for trained singers). Tim Burton has told him to "RAP" his songs, ala Jim Broadbent in "Moulin Rouge".
LOL...I guess Alan passed his test!
Comments: Nahima!
May much chocolate and many Alan-goodies come your way! (Here's one!)

What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/Admirersfrom13-30ofALANRICKMANgroup/ Comments: Hi guys! Thank you all for the stuff. I've just found this article http://jam.canoe.ca/Movies/Artists/R/Rickman_Alan/2006/12/14/2787934.html 'Snowcake' blessing for Alan Rickman
(just some parts) What a surprise! For Alan Rickman, the crusty, urbane and sublimely talented English actor, getting sent to Wawa, Ontario, was a pleasure, not a curse. "I just thought, 'Whoa, what an adventure!' " the 60-year-old Rickman enthuses in a recent Toronto visit. "You have to go somewhere and I like working in small communities, (although) I feel guilty, a bit, because films tend to colonize where they are." "In this case, I think it was a very happy coming-together," says Rickman. "And you're not making some crazy action movie in a town; you're actually making a film about a small-town community. I like the middle of nowhere. It's very focusing and everybody's energies get concentrated. You're really thinking about the work and it's good to get away." "You leap at it. It's like water on a desert, in the refreshing sense that her imagination is so open and that she writes something that is so uncircumscribed. It was hard to get it done for all sorts of practical and, obviously, financial reasons. So there is a very real sense of achievement that, at a certain point in one's working life, if you really roll up your sleeves, you walk into the unknown, and you get on with it. "We got on with it. We did it and it's there and I think everybody involved with it is proud of it." Rickman has a surprising answer to the "Why this story?" question: "Because the world's come off its hinges. And, unless we can fight hard to tell stories that, on some level, are saying: 'This is who we were, this is who we've become, this is who we could be, this is what we shouldn't be!' ... " Rickman does not complete the "unless" part of his sentence. Instead, he re-frames his answer: "We tell stories about each other to each other. That's all I am. I'm part of a storytelling chain. I'm an element in that, as an actor and sometimes as a director. "Otherwise, I don't have a function. Otherwise, it's just showing off or selling clothes and magazines. And that's fiddling while Rome burns -- and Rome is burning!" He always says about his being a storyteller;-)

He also gave me the address of the press attaché for the movie, so I've mailed her. I hope she'll tell me if Alan will be there but I doubt of that. What is your location? New York Comments: Just another bit of minutiae:
From www.nymag.com:
An interview w/Jason Raines, a waiter/actor at "Stanton Social Restaurant" on the Lower East Side in Manhattan which opened in April 2005:
paraphrasing: Interviewer: Who comes into the restaurant? Jason: "Alan Rickman was in here enjoying wine, talking about real estate."
Comments: I think Snow Cake isn't comparable with Rain Man, because Dustin played a Man with autism and Sigourney played a Woman with asperger autism that is a reduced kind of autism. That is a difference. I have an adult nephew with autism and his behaviour is like Dustin played it.

I've been going through my Inbox and I had an email from "eVoice.com" with the following message. I don't recognize the name but since my mind has been mush the last year, I'm not convinced this is just a solicitation for business. I've disabled the links so they can't be clicked on from here and take the chance of getting any of you messed up with these people.
I know this is silly because its probably just a silly business solicitation but I'm a worry wart! LOL
What is your location? GA Comments: Thank you, Carolyn! Its sadly amazing how much press this film is getting every where but here in the US. I just want to scream!!!!
I really like this comment from the article.
"I think the other thing is that there is such a desire on their part of have something out there besides Rain Man, as great as it was."
This is very true. I know I didn't know that much about autism other than the little bit I've read and the film Rain Man. Snow Cake shows there is much more to the subject than what Dustin Hoffman's stunning performance communicates.

Hi katherine and welcome to our great group. We all are a very caring and sharing bunch of AR fans and we also have a great time here. I hope you will stay with us for a long time. Unfortunately, I think your best bet in getting some of AR's films is to buy the DVDs or if you have a library system that carries videos--you might be able to get them for free. They are widely available online. If you need help in finding them, don't hesitate to email me. Of course, I have not been real good with email lately but if I don't answer right away, don't give up on me because I will answer eventually.
Good morning everyone else!!! After a night of insomnia (been up since 3), I was able to use my sleeplessness to the good! The AR good that is! I got some new videos uploaded to my server and I've posted them above. I hope everyone will enjoy them as much as I have. And once again special thanks go to:

Yes, by 'higher resolution', I meant that (thanks to the fabulous EMILIA!) this version is copied from VHS tape so it is 720x480 pixels. The video that was available online, that most everyone has seen, was 240x180 pixels.
I believe the new version, if saved to a DVD, would be watchable on an television, with the quality of a VHS tape recording.
Hope that helps.
What is your location? Germany Comments: Hello to all AR fans in Germany I have just noticed that Santa Clause is really nice to us this year (we must have all been soooooo good this year) there will be THREE Allan Rickman movies on tv at Christmas (on Dec 24 Quigley Down Under on Kabel1 at 16:10 and Die Hard on Sat1 at 22:00. Love Actually will be shown on RTL both on Dec 25 and 26.) Just to let you know your presents a bit early. I know I will enjoy Xmas enormously, hope you will too. Love, Rosi
What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Catsplay - does the higher resolution version mean it's the same interview but larger and clearer? (Which is the best way to enjoy Alan anyway).
But speaking of Alan being LARGER and CLEARER....I've just returned from the screening of Snowcake at UCLA. (Many, many thanks to Nahima for alerting me to this.) All the stars seemed to be in alignment for me on this one. Incredibly there was no traffic, so I made it there in record time. My niece, who is a student there, called me on my mobile and offered to lend me her parking pass, so I didn't have to pay for parking. I walked into the lobby of the theater and they were serving sandwiches, cookies, and water or coffee. (In my haste to leave early to beat the traffic, I hadn't eaten anything.) So, let's add this all up: 1. Stress free travel. 2. Free parking. 3. A free meal. 4. And ALAN in full size, technicolor loveliness!! Could you ask for a better evening?
I have to say that I enjoyed Snowcake immensely. After reading mixed reviews I was preparing myself for a possible disappointment. I was very pleasantly surprised. So many of the critical reviews lambasted Sigourney's performance. But I felt there were many behaviors that she hit perfectly (I have a 17 year old son with autism). Most especially the self-stim behavior (be it jumping on the trampoline, eating snow, dancing, looking at lights) that escalate into uncontrollable giggling fits. She NAILED it. Since autistic behaviors can be as different as each individual it's very difficult to portray...and I'm not saying that the portrayal was perfect, but she obviously did her homework and for that she has my utmost respect.
As for Alan he was, as usual, DELICIOUS....and very funny. This was a refreshingly different type of role for him. I'm so glad I got to see this film. If you get the chance, don't miss it.

What is your location? New York Comments: IMHO, "Saving Private Ryan" was definitely more worthy of a best pic award. I'm not saying that "SIL" wasn't a good film, but overall, I don't think it deserved to win (and, again, IMO, wouldn't have won if H.W. hadn't pulled out all the stops towards the end). I know: "All's fair in movies & politics", but I think it degrades the whole process. I worked in the entertainment business long enough that nothing anyone says or does surprises me. However, let's just say that there are many people in that business (and obviously it's not a surprise) who have questionable methods of attaining goals.
Comments: What debacle about Shakespeare in Love? You would rather Saving Private Ryan or Elizabeth had won Best Picture?
What is your location? New York Comments: Oh, I know exactly what you mean, Ellen! However, (silly me!) I thought that Harvey just might be his usual obnoxious self and throw the weight of the studio for the film (ala the debacle of "Shakespeare in Love"!). As far as things stand now, "Perfume" is supposed to be a limited release 12/27 and a general release Jan.5 or 7'07 (in the US). "Snow Cake" is still supposed to be released this month as well.
IMHO, I just think it's absurd that Leo was nominated against himself in the best actor category!
Comments: Carolyn, to have a chance at a nomination for a major award your production company has to decide to launch a major campaign for you. (I had thought the Weinsteins were going to do this for Weaver, but apparently not.) A campaign for a nomination for one of the main Oscars is said to cost about 20 million dollars. Mirren's campaign began months and months ago and was kicked off by a five-page interview in The New Yorker with a full-page glam shot. It also helps if ticket sales and critical reviews are both good. Then the precursor awards are made, and everyone seems to follow them like lemmings. Meanwhile, there is some question that Snow Cake will ever be released in the USA at all (playing at least a week during 2006 in, I think, New York and LA is required), and for Perfume (also not released here yet) it would be a Best Supporting Actor nom., and that is always the most crowded and competitive category--this year, you could fill it with actors from The Departed alone. A typical feature film has one hero, one girl (sometimes, as with Munich, not even one), and three to six supporting male actors. I don't like any of this, but that seems to be the way it is. A shame, too--AR's work is Snow Cake is really fine.

What is your location? New York Comments: In another case of "Alan gets screwed again" (LOL...I don't mean that literally!), the Critics Choice nominations were announced today, and of course neither movie is on the list! However, TPTB have deemed Leonardo DiCaprio's performances (note "plural" as in "more than one") in "Blood Diamond" and "The Departed" both worthy of nominations! Now, I do realize that he is an extremely good actor, and his performance in "The Departed" (which was an incredible movie) is really, really good, but please, two best actor noms? And to ignore Alan in "Snow Cake"? I am most definitely aware that he really didn't have a shot at any awards noms, but,

Comments: Claudia : I forgot to thank you for the caps Oh, AR is so pessimitic and modest ! lol
What is your location? UK Comments:
Just watched the video again, and as to that 'I thought those days were over' comment, it's sweetly naive of him to think that, isn't it? Just makes us want to hug him more.
I was surprised how much gesturing he did with his left hand. I'm assuming his professionalism kicked in and he realised his right hand would be in the way of the camera, but still it's quite difficult to gesture so much with the left hand if you're a right handed person.
What is your location? GA Comments: Hey Yall!!!
I watched that interview at least 5 times last night and I still can't get over his thinking "those days were over"! My gawd, doesn't he know how sexy and in his prime he is???
As for the gd word. It is a common expression here in the states too. In fact, I have to chastize my two grown kids and son-in-law for saying it quite often. I have a potty mouth myself at times but I just can't help but cringe when I hear that ONE expression. I feel I'm far from being a prude and although I am religious, I've never felt I've taken it to extremes. Its not as if I've never heard AR say it before because he has used it in past roles. But I don't ever recall hearing him say it on his own.
Nevertheless, I do not think any less of Our Man and don't think I ever will.
Although I love knowing he's in my time zone when he's in NY....I am quite tickled that he's back in jolly ole England at the moment. Goodness knows....I would love to be in jolly old England myself right now!
Happy Monday YUKS to everyone!
What is your location? LONDON Comments: I think its a british thing with the way it comes out sometimes, the way we say things, does not always mean how it sounds, alot of the time its a compliment,I know that sounds stupid, but thats how we talk....and I get the feeling that Alan likes to let rip now and again...Bit like all of us really.....although I know that you can have a conversation without using naughty language, but it does slip now and again....And yeah,I want him to be here for plays,,,,come on Alan, get a move on and get back on the stage....Us brits miss you and that talent....

ME - Can I second that? Shall we start a campaign? Otherwise I've got to start a secret emergency fund in case I have to hop on a plane to NY next year.
What is your location? Canada Comments: Forgive me you all but Camarata asked. So i will tell her. Camarata, Alan said god-damn in the interview. To some its a curse word to others like myself i try but do say it occasionally usually when im pissed right off. But to me it sounded more like an expression, im sure he never meant it as a curse. He called Richard Curtis a "bastard" in the interview he did for Love Actually. When asked about the director of Love Actually , Alan said something along the lines " its his first movie, the bastard".Im sure there was no disrespect then and not now either. I too am a potty mouth but i also know when not to let it slip.
What is your location? France What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.rickmanparadise.com Comments: Hi girls ! Emerys : très joli ! Comments: New Jan, from Dark Harbour Regarding swear words I am with Claudia - and to be honest I don't like them in general.
What is your location? London Comments: Hey there, Ok,regardingt the word, dont find that offensive at all,its quite common over here to use the word...I would rather that than some of the other words that are out there, but when Alan says it,my word,he does it rather good Im glad that he is back home,Im hoping that he is going tobe doing some work here now,and I would so love him to do theatre here in the west end...that would make my 2007...Plus some other fans of the man.... Have Fun Out There....
What is your location? UK Comments:
Sue's right. The Gd word doesn't turn a head over here, and having just heard Dame Judi Dench say s**t on stage, I don't think we need pick our Alan up on his language. (Can any word sound bad when uttered by that voice?)
Thanks for the video link. I had no trouble downloading it and enjoyed it very much. Can't wait for SC to come out on DVD - it's the only way I'm going to get to see it.
Brilliant Christmas cards. Especially the candlelit one. Is the pic from Snowcake? Or Dark Harbour? I don't know it.
Comments: So do I Sue, Alan does sometimes have a mouth on him and not only when he's acting.
Comments: It's funny, just another example of the differences across the pond. Unless they were very religious I doubt if many Brits would consider G*****n a swear word over here anyway. The way f*** is bandied about over here these days it only leaves the "c" word to shock. And I speak as being of the generation who still finds f*** offensive.
What is your location? Canada Comments: Claudia--yes Mr. Pottymouth did curse in the interview. Not the only time he has been known to do so........remember when he talked about it being Richard Curtis's first movie, he swore in that one too.........me thinks he wouldnt have a problem answering the " whats your favorite swear word" question they ask on The Actors Studio if he were on it.
Vicki-you tease, you bad girl. You know if i was anywhere near there ( including Phoenix ) i would be with you in minute, no wait, make that a second. But i hope you find yourself someone to go with but if you dont, you should go anyways, and carry a whole guest book on your shoulders.
What is your location? Los Angeles Comments: Let me just add my thanks to AA and INTJ for their generosity. Just to let you know AA, I had no trouble viewing the original clip that you linked and I was able to download the video INTJ captured in 4 minutes. Guess I was lucky.
Loved the Christmas cards! We've got so many talented people here!
I just want to ask one more time....will anybody in the area be attending the Snowcake screening on Tuesday at UCLA? I have been able to arrange my schedule so that I can go. Just wondered if there would be anyone else from the GB going (I know there's some local lurkers out there....I can SEE you hiding.)

AA and INTJ, you rock! Thank you!
I'm the chief, or moderator (don't know how you callit) of a Brazilian Rickman fan page, it's got 1,069 members and I'm glad to say that THIS FORUM is my very best source of Alan's information. I just can't miss one day here, you rock girls! Thank you VERY MUCH! (and I say that in name of all Brazilian alanholics).
I'd like to ask, I could get alright the whole interview, I just couldn't understand the "Shirt" thing, on the contract, what did he say?? And another thing, someone knows the day of the interview?

Emerys! Your cards are fantastic!!!! I'm sorry I let it get to late for a Christmas contest. We'll have the birthday contest in Feb and then we'll do another Christmas one next year for sure.
Thank you AA for pointing out the new video!!!
And as always....INTJ...you're the best for snagging the new video for everyone!
Here's some screen caps from the video...and what wonderful expressions he had in this interview!!! The one of him pointing was a tough one to get! I tried it over a dozen times.
How dare he say he thought "those days were over"!!! No way in hell will they ever be over, Alan!!! Bite your tongue!!!
BTW, did he actually say the gd word in this interview???? Nooooo, I'm not a prude whatsoever. I'll say any curse word under the sun but I HATE the gd word!!!! LOL

sue, I think I will be able to screencap this.
Thank you again!
ps. Emilia said that he was wearing a tweed jacket and black t-shirt so perhaps what she saw on TV was extracted from this?

sue, Cats - Here's the interview.
41MB, wmv file: http://download.yousendit.com/4CB91C1D6277121E
Comments: I don't think so Cats, it's a typical sit-next-to-the-filmposter for six minute type promo interview. I tried to take a screen cap but it's one of those weird ones that when you copy the page you get a black hole left!!!
Comments: I can see nothing on that page, so INTJ will be a lifesaver! Is this the same interview that was on TV this weekend that Emilia is describing?
Comments: Thanks INTJ, I just heard a snippet about a clause in the contract to cover him up!!So I need the full story!!Oh hang on I am getting all the sound now and no picture!!!
Comments: AA, great find, thank you! I've just downloaded the interview and am uploading it to yousendit. Will post the download link ASAP.

What is your location? Quebec Comments: I've just got home from work and of course I went straight to see if the vcr had recorded the AR "interview"on the Movie Network. And it did!!!!It showed a few clips from SC and a few clips of AR and SW talking about the film. Not nearly as long ,or as concentrated on AR as last weeks interview, but AR did ,as usual, manage to say something enlightening; "I was completely charmed by the quality of the writing and the strangeness of the subject matter and all of that, but umm,no,it's very exciting to realize that there is going to be big challenges in almost every scene, and, that it's funny." As there were only head shots of AR, the only clothing I could see was a tweed type jacket with a black T-shirt underneath.

What is your location? Rickmania Comments: There's a nice little piece on SWEENEY TODD over at playbill.com confirming Alan's casting as the judge.
http://www.playbill.com/news/article/104107.html
Alan Rickman Joins Sweeney Todd Film By Zachary Pincus-Roth Alan Rickman will play Judge Turpin in the cast of the film adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical Sweeney Todd, the actor’s representation has confirmed. Tim Burton will direct the film, which stars Johnny Depp as Sweeney and Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Lovett. Sacha Baron Cohen plays the supporting role of Signor Adolfo Pirelli. Rickman directed the current Off-Broadway play Rachel Corrie and co-edited the work from the writings of the title character, a 23-year-old American protester who was killed by an Israeli bulldozer. He has received Tony nominations for each of his two Broadway roles — Private Lives in 2002 and Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 1987. His many UK credits include Antony and Cleopatra, Private Lives, Tango at the End of Winter and Hamlet . Rickman is perhaps best known for his film roles, such as Severus Snape in the “Harry Potter” film series, and the villain Hans Gruber in “Die Hard.” Other well-known film roles are “Galaxy Quest,” “Love Actually,” “Dogma,” “Sense and Sensibility,” “Michael Collins,” “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” and “Truly Madly Deeply.” He won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for appearing in the miniseries “Rasputin” and was nominated for an Emmy for the television movie “Something the Lord Made.” John Logan ("The Aviator," "Gladiator") penned the screenplay for the "Sweeney Todd" film. Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will partner with Richard Zanuck and John Logan to produce the co-production with Warner Bros. Paramount will distribute for DreamWorks domestically and Warner Bros. internationally. * Burton returns to his familiar casting pool for Depp — the duo have previously teamed on "Edward Scissorhands," "Ed Wood," "Sleepy Hollow," "Corpse Bride" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" — and Carter — seen in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Big Fish," "Planet of the Apes" and in voice on " Corpse Bride." “Sweeney Todd” is slated to begin filming in Februray of 2007 at London's Pinewood Studios. Also attached to the project are costume designer Colleen Atwood ("Memoirs of a Geisha") and cinematographer Dante Spinotti ("L.A. Confidential"). The musical Sweeney Todd follows the story of a wrongfully imprisoned barber in Victorian England who sets out to seek revenge on the judge who imprisoned him. The stage work features a score by Sondheim and a book by Hugh Wheeler based on the play by Christopher Bond. Sweeney Todd originally opened on Broadway in 1979 starring Len Cariou (as Sweeney) and Angela Lansbury (as Mrs. Lovett) — both earned Tony Awards for their performances. Harold Prince directed the production, which took home the 1979 Tony for Best Musical. Subsequent revivals have starred Beth Fowler and Bob Gunton (1989 on Broadway), George Hearn and Patti LuPone (2001 concert), Brian Stokes Mitchell and Christine Baranski (2002 - Kennedy Center) and the recent revival with Michael Cerveris and LuPone. The score includes such tunes as "The Worst Pies in London," "Johanna," "Pretty Women," "A Little Priest," "By the Sea" and "Not While I'm Around."

Claudia - that pic you liked of AR sitting with his head bowed is quite an old one - you probably know that - but I just wanted to mention that I read a HP fanfic where the author acknowledged that pic as inspiration for a scene in her story. She had Snape sitting in a similar pose. Yummy.
JD and AR in the same film? There IS a god.

I forgot to mention the card contest yesterday. Since its so late, how about if we have an AR birthday card contest instead? I was thinking of an AR DVD of choice for the winner(s). Let me know what you think and I'll start getting things ready since Feb isn't to far away.
Pam, your idea of an AR calendar for the winner of the Christmas card contest was great! I will keep that in mind for next year. That will give me some time to work on the calendar(s) so it will be worth the effort when someone enters their hard work.
Claudia, Germany! Thanks for the scans of the GQ magazine. Their soooooo big and kissable! I just love the one of him sitting in the chair with his head down.
luv, thank you for the post about Depp's preparation for Sweeney Todd. I couldn't help but giggle about it. I suppose he is pretty hard to live with when he's preparing for a part. Imagine when he was preparing for Pirates of the Caribbean! *snort*

Depp starts rehearsals for the film adaptation of STEPHEN SONDHEIM's musical in London next month (JAN07), but he's preparing for the part already by slitting imaginary throats to the soundtrack of DIES IRAE (DAY OF WRATH) - the 13th century Latin Hymn traditionally used in the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "Johnny is always very conscientious in his roles. Now he says he has to get into the mind set of a serial killer. He wants to feel adept with the razor blades, to feel as if they were an extension of his arm. "But he's terrifying everyone by walking around his home booming out the song - making an arc with his arm when he slits a person's throat. "Sweeney calls his razors his 'friends' and in this song the Demon Barber pours out his love to his blades."

Comments: I didn't doubt that it works, because the important bit is ICM, not the name of the person, but since Melanie Parker is the one who answers all of AR's fan mail, it seems reasonable to me to write to her - even more so now that I know who Duncan Heath is.

Comments: ICM?
Comments: Thanks for the info. I suppose this confirms that he's not the right man to send fan letters for Alan Rickman to then.
Comments: FYI, Duncan Heath is the extremely powerful head of ICM in London.
Comments: Ignore the name Duncan Heath and write Melanie Parker instead. Whoever DH was, MP is his personal assistant now. The old address is still floating around all over the net, though.
What is your location? TX Comments: How can I find out which theater is going to play snow cake when it comes out here. I'm going NUTS waiting. The only place I think it MIGHT play isn't telling if they're going to run it. I might have to fly somewhere where it is playing to see it. Either that or wait for the DVD. Fortunately, my hubby just bought us a big flat screen tv so at least I'll get to enjoy it on a screen bigger than my little computer screen.

Comments: Just now appeared in news: http://comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=17877 Fascinating!
What is your location? Munich - sunny and warm! Comments: I like actual Alan's shape very, very much. First of all he's playing in my weight class. Secondly he looks pretty relaxed at the after-show party and if he was a bit squiffy - why not! And thirdly - he looks like a bon vivant, saying he enjoys good meals and cakes. As I cook passionately and do it very well - well, what a buddy for me???? JD is one of my most favourite actors, he looks so good, has an intelligent and exciting character, is my age, but he has one failing: Too small, too delicate, too fragile! So, when all is said and done: Alan remains my one and only admirable subject of obsession!
Comments: Camerata, what does the " c/o Duncan Heath" mean? I've never seen that before? Isn't Ms Parker still handling his mail?

What is your location? Virginia Beach, VA Comments: Dear Hikity, Thanks for your reply, but can you please write the address for me? I can't remember where I saw it last. Thanks, Maryland
Comments: Hello! Hikity, you said you liked watching Love Actually while wrapping presents? Whoa, I've got the same so-called infatuation, ecpecially on Christmas. This is rather close though. Alfan, what a great idea to send an invitation, just keep on thinking of it, propel it. Hope you'd manage to surprise him like this. So, I am tangled: whether Alan looks tipsy or tired, or both, of niether. Okay, it's not so significant, just hilarious. But I think, he looks as he should look: gorgeous despite all the problems imaginable. Luv it!
Comments: Maryland, Melanie Parker IS the right address and you should hurry up if you want everything to arrive in time! And yes, I would enclose a stamped letter. Alfan, hihi, Keith and hubby would understand eachother perfectly. Do send Alan a wedding card - why not? And I wasn't critizising your comments on his tiredness - just thought: the poor man, . JD in HP? Do you have a character in mind? One of the ghosts, perhaps?
Comments: I don't think Alan looks especially tired or tipsy. Just a bit serious. It's nice that he's home again, but New York is a sadder place without him. I hope he has a wonderful Christmas.
What is your location? Canada Comments: Im sitting here with Keith and we are doing our wedding invitation list, and i have a friend name Al ( he works with me ) and i put him down as Alan on our list and Keith looks at me, exhales and says " dont tell me your going to send Alan Rickman a wedding invitation". After i got off the floor from laughing i told him it was our friend Al ( the one he met numerous times). Keith blushed and siad, uh,. oh. Then he made it up to me by saying i could ask Alan Rickman to come and he wouldnt care. So, girls should i send him an invitation, hee hee, haa haa.........kidding.
What is your location? Virginia Beach, VA Comments: Hello Everyone, Would one of you ladies kindly post the most up-to-date address for sending mail to AR? Since he probably won't be in NYC due to the closing of MNiRC, I still have a very funny "Broadway" Christmas card I'd like to send to him. My original plan was to send it, along with a "Christmas Care Package" to the theatre, the same way I did at Thanksgiving and which I was told was happily received by all. I don't know if I will attempt to do that from Virginia to London! Also, can anyone tell me now long it takes for mail to get from the U.S east coast to London? I have no idea and would like to send the card in time for Christmas. Thanks to all who help with my questions. Maryland PS: If I wanted to ask for an autographed photo, do I send a self-addressed stamped photo mailer or does Melanie Parker (?) send the photos as a courtesy? Thanks!
Comments: AR's weight, what he eats, and his apparent lack of exercise relate to a much more important issue than whether or not we find him at his most attractive. If he's overweight, eats the wrong foods, and doesn't get regular exercise he is at risk of illness or death from heart attack, stroke, diabetes II, and some cancers. Even ten extra pounds can make a significant difference in how long he lives and how healthy he is. I'd like to see him alive and able to work for as long as possible and so I'd like to see him lose about 25 pounds and go back to the gym on a regular basis. AR forever!
Comments:
Just a few days away and a heap of Alan news and pics is waiting to be viewed.
Many thanks to all !!
What is your location? Canada Comments: Ok, first of all I AM NO WAY INPLYING THAT ANYONE SAID ANYTHING!!!!
Second of all I AM ONLY STATING MY OPINION AND THAT IS NEITHER WRONG OR RIGHT, JUST MY OPINION!!!!
And third of all " iM NOT GOING ON " OH GREAT DEFENDER OF ALAN " or anything.
( I guess thats my disclaimer, hee hee)
I think ( and im sure you do to) Alan is one of the sexiest people for his age ( blows away people like Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise). I mean for his age the fact that he still has a beautiful full set of hair and his own teeth is kinda rare. To me, he looks better with age almost every time i see him ( even though he looks tired this time around) and i can honestly say i love him with or without pudge. I sit here at home on my computer eating god knows what ( ok, he does and he is ok with that) and i tell you if i spent as much time on the road as he does i would not be the " fine fit specimen of pure health i am today, ahem!..so Alan, go home, have yourself a nice home cooked meal ( as you share those duties with Rima i read), get some rest, have a Egg Nogg and Rum, decorate the tree, do a nasty or two and relax bun! We love yah.
Oh, and i have to agree, Could you imagine what Tim Burton would do with a HP movie. He already has his wife in the cast so we would have to find a role for Johnny,,,,,,that would not be to hard in the HP world.
Comments: Yep, those are exactly my thoughts, SnoKat. He looked somewhat tired but still handsome and lovely as always. (...an odd blend of adjectives that only makes sense regarding AR.) Is there a date set for the Christmas contest? I have made five cards already and need to stop badly, please help me! Thanks for the larger pics, Lex!
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.snapekat.livejournal.com Comments: I vote for Alan looking a bit tired too. This isn't a critisizm, he still looks better tired then most men I know well rested! It's just normal and human and an understandable result of all the work he's done.
What is your location? London Comments: Ok,I have to say that Im over the moon that our man is back *home*sorry...but its where the man lives right. He needs to be home for christmas and if you ask me,he looks like he could do with some serious sleep, and he looks like he should have a very nice chilling time doing nothing till the new year....doctors orders... I noticed as well that he is getting a bit more of tire there around his tummy, and before you beat me,I actually really like that on my man,I like a bit of meat and not your skinny feel the bones kinda fella, and he just looks so normal,if that makes any sense at all,not at all showbizzy....I love that about him, like hes thinking, sod erm,if I want an extra cake, then so be it....they either love me or they dont, well girls,we so do love him dont we... He looks wonderfull in those pics and I think that he and tim burton are talking HP,I think that Tim would so love to get his hands on one of the Potter films, you can just see what he would do with Snape!!!!!!

Comments: When we were discussing the likelihood of Pinter's OldTimes playing London a while back it was said that Peter Hall was going to direct a version too. I got my local theatre events programme today for Dec06-Apr07 and they are presenting Peter Hall's direction of Old Times from 12-17 March (prior to London). It stars the lovely Neil Pearson, Janie Dee & Susannah Harker. I shall def go to see it but it seems unlikely that there would be two productions of it knocking around London at the same time.
The theatre have also got Anthony Sher as Keane prior to the West End so I shall see that too.

I guess his latest interview for Toronto television (is it this weekend?) was taped when he was there.

What is your location? New York Comments: Yep! I've been on the site at least four times today and there was nothing about a talkback tonight!
Comments: I saw this notice about at a 12/5 MNiRC talkback and then realized that's tonight! Wonder why they wait until the same day to issue an announcement -- must be pulled together at the last minute.
Darn -- I wish we knew of someone going tonight so that we could find out of Alan is back in NYC.
What is your location? NYC Comments: I know my reaction is a little delayed, but I would still like to put in my two cents about the Sweeney Todd news. I say the broadway play with Micheal Cerveris and Patti LuPone TWICE! I also read the play, and saw the movie of the version with Angela Lansbury. I am so excited for Mr. Rickman to play the Judge. What an evil role. Then again, so perfect for him. I do hope that when it comes out I will actually get to see it because it may be rated R because it is movie form rather than musical, so they might make it more gory. But then again, by then Im going to be 17. YAY! Can Alan actually sing? Ive only heard him in TMD I think.

I never mentioned a publisher. The question was asked if he had a publicist and I thought it amusing to think of him having one as he is so shy of publicity. There was absolutely nothing "rude" inferred.

What is your location? New York Comments: Yep, exactly! IIRC, there was also another short made as well, but I don't remember for which play the RSC was performing.
Comments: Carolyn,
I'm actually speculating that the short film was created in conjunction with the play. The same lead actors are in both the play and the film, and the film was produced as a part of RSC's Video Production company. So, perhaps the film was some sort of 'promo' for the play? I will let you know if I find anything more.
What is your location? New York Comments: LOL...I'll leave it you ladies to figure out the "six degrees of separation from Alan Rickman" with the following info:
"Tamar's Revenge" - play written by Spanish dramatist, Tirso de Molinais in 17th century.
The play was part of the RSC Festival at the Swan Theatre in Stratford June-Oct'04
It was directed by Simon Usher (one of the producer's on the short flic on Youtube)
Cast included: Oliver Williams & John Wark (who directed the short flic on Youtube)
Simon Usher directed a play at the Royal Court Theatre in Nov.2005 and had been in rehearsals when Alan was directing MNIRC in Oct.2005
Luke Massey (from Penguin Prod) knew Oliver Wiliams.
OK...that's it for today's lesson....Have fun!

Whoa, Nicki, great find!
Nicki is referring to Tamar's Revenge (also on Myspace).
This appears to be a short film by a production company called Punk Productions.
As per the end credits, it was filmed in 2004 and does credit Alan Rickman.
I will make contact when them and attempt to gather more details, and will share my findings.
What is your location? Germany Comments: Thanks for all the great links and infos. Comments: There are 55(!) pages of production noted to download from that site!! I think this interview may have been translated elsewhere but here it is in English:
INTERVIEW ALAN RICKMAN You are the merchant Antoine Richis in the movie. What can you tell us about your character? Well the important thing about Antoine Richis is that he's a father. And, more than that, he's a single parent. His wife died – we're not quite sure of the circumstances – but he lives quite a privileged life. He's a rich merchant and lives in a very big house with his very beautiful daughter. And the main thing we know about him through this story is that he is very, very protective of her. Because as he says, 'You're all I have.' What happens to the daughter during the film? Well, everything that happens in the film has to do with the story of this young man, Grenouille. Richis doesn't meet him until right at the end of the story, so, all he knows about him is that there is a serial killer at loose in the area, and he's only killing young and very beautiful girls, and since Richis' daughter is one of the youngest and most beautiful girls in the area, he thinks – quite rightly – that his daughter is at risk. So what he does is become a kind of Sherlock Holmes. All the rest of the town, all of the bigwigs, make a lot of noise, but Richis uses his intelligence to try to outwit this unknown force who is killing all these young women. 32 Can you understand the passion of Grenouille to try to find this ultimate scent? This ultimate perfume? Well, that's difficult - because he becomes a killer. So it's very hard for us to justify things like that. But I think, like with any serial killer, you have to try to understand where it came from in the first place. Otherwise we don't understand anything about ourselves as a society. You know, it's no good to just throw rocks at the van that the police take away killers in. I don't think that achieves anything. You've got to say, society produces these people and how does it do that, and why. In this case, it's the story of somebody who was abandoned as a baby and abused throughout his childhood, so he develops one thing that he is confident in and sure of and that he is a supreme expert in, and that's his sense of smell. And, it's not right, but it's perhaps not surprising that he becomes obsessive, because he lives entirely in his own head. What impressed you most about this material? Well, I had not read the book, and so I read it just as a film script. But when I heard that Tom Tykwer was going to be directing it, that was a huge attraction to me, to work with him. And I suppose I like stories about obsessive people (laughs). And I think Richis is almost as obsessive as Grenouille, in a way, because Richis focuses all his energies on protecting his daughter from this unknown force. Did you know any of Tom Tykwer’s films before you got involved with the project? Well, of course, I knew RUN, LOLA, RUN like everybody did, but unfortunately I hadn't seen THE PRINCESS AND THE WARRIOR, or haven't yet, and then he's made a very fine short film, as well, that I love – TRUE. He’s a remarkable filmmaker, and I said to him, 'It's like you're not just in control of every frame of every film, you're in control of the milliseconds within a frame.' He knows the visual power of the smallest moment - when an eye closes and opens - and then that becomes part of the narrative. So it's always exciting as an actor on film to be able to hand yourself over completely to the director. Would you describe him as an actors’ director? He's very sure of what he wants, and he's got a very clear picture in his head of every shot, every scene and how the movie will be, I think, but, but that doesn't mean to say that his mind is closed. He has what the English call a sunny disposition. Which I think is rare in a business that has so much pressure put on the director and there are such time constraints and such money constraints. And to have somebody who always has a smile, even when things are getting a bit tense, is a rare thing, and that gives you a lot of energy. 33 And how was working with Bernd Eichinger? Well I think, you know, Bernd is in danger of exploding with passion one day. He's so passionate ... and now that's a great thing to have in a producer because it means that they're involved, and he cares so much about this project and he's fought so hard to get it made that I think that's nothing but good. And I see the way that he and Tom interact, and I know that Tom feels that support hugely, and even when Bernd isn't here, his presence is kind of floating around anyway. The production designers have done a lot to make the film look as authentic as possible using antique furniture and materials, and so on. Can you tell us a little about that? How did you feel, surrounded by all these antiques? The designers have done an incredible job on the film. Of course, most of the film looks awful because it's very much the poorer part of Paris and then suddenly, half way through, you arrive at the house that Laura and I live in and its incredibly beautiful and, but in a surprising way because, if the camera moved two feet to the left you'd find that there's no ceiling, and that they had to clear maybe a foot of refuse off the floor of this extraordinary place in the middle of Barcelona and they found – I think when you work hard you get presents – these beautiful marble floors that had been covered in rubbish for the last 10 or 12 years. And then they came in and painted the walls, and brought in incredibly valuable antique furniture, and made a sort of cinema magic out of this place that, when you see it on film, you'll think, "Who owns that?" I don't know that it's ever been filmed in. And it has everything that we required. It had a beautiful terrace for the birthday scene and it had a maze for Rachel – Laura – to run around and get lost in. So it was a kind of miracle, really. 1

As to "Truly Madly Deeply": It is obvious that in the particular scene you are talking about, it is just not MEANT to be a masterstroke. Juliet Stevenson even mentioned in an interview, that before shooting it, both she and AR bawled around for like half an hour to sound hoarse and off key. Still you hear that he is actually a good singer as also in this song he has a part that is actually difficutl to sing.

What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.snapekat.livejournal.com Comments: It was great to see the extra clips on the ABC Fam airing of CoS last night. Maybe they might show different ones tonight with PoA. But probably it will be the same ones.
The reason I don't think they showed any new Snape stuff is because Alan isn't much into talking about doing Snape. I have NEVER seen him do any sort of interview or even be shown out of character while wearing the Snape costume. I think he just doesn't DO Snape interviews. But I do think its odd that there were no Young Snape mentions or Tonks or Lupin. Maybe tonight!
What is your location? Canada Comments: You know i just saw the extra clips from OOTP and again there is no new Snape. There is extra Umbridge, extra Sirius ( and the battle at the ministry), there is DA, there is the Order and a few others but i dont understand whats with no Snape. I mean do they think his character is not important enough to show or do an interview with ( Alan ) as all the others speak, is it that they want to keep him and his character in secrecy due to the fact of his character kinda being an enigma or is it Alan not wanting to take part in any extra HP activity and interviews........cant see that. Its kinda annoying though, as Snape does play an important role in this book ( not as much as six though) but there isnt even extra "young Snape" screen shots or any thing. Oh well, i guess it will be just like all the other movies, just be happy with the Snape parts there are.
What is your location? New York Comments: Tonight in the US, the "family channel" (I think a subsidiary of ABC) was airing COS. During the commercial breaks, they were running previously unseen footage of OOTP and interviews with Helena Bonham Carter, Evanna Lynch, Dan, Rupert, et al...Quite a few scenes that weren't in any of the previous footage online.

Maryland, all I know is that I read a letter to a fan from Melanie Parker over at SWARF about a month ago that could be interpreted that he is staying through December. Since it is a personal letter, I will not post it here.
However, the relevant text from the letter is,
It's actually fairly ambiguous and inconclusive whether that means he is staying through December 31. The letter is dated October 29.
What is your location? Virginia Beach Comments: Hello Everyone, Does anyone have any idea where AR will be for Christmas or if he is returning to NYC for the closing of MNIRC??? I ask because believe it or not, I found a Broadway Musical themed Christmas card, and I bought it, thinking to mail it to the Minetta Theatre, along with some Christmas treats ( Lovely Cakes, anyone?) Now I see that not only has AR departed but Megan Dodds as well. I'd still like to send the card though, it's really cute. Can anyone advise me? Also, for those who have experience, how long does it take for mail to get from the USA to the UK? Thanks to anyone who can help! Comments: Ah yes, Sondheim will make it sound good. He is insanely picky about his songs!! Thanks for the trivia, Carolyn XD Johnny Depp should already be good with knives- he was Edward Scissorhands. Now he needs to be Sweeney Razorhands! I've heard that the revival was alot darker than previous versions. Dunno if that will transfer over to the film but I have a feeling it might, given Burton's treatment of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which bothered me alot since I feel Roald Dahl was good at showing the lightheartedness of evil and Burton was too over the top, oh well.) I really think the cast they have so far sounds great. Another bit of trivia: this will be yet another role for AR in which his love/lust interest(s) is significantly younger than him. Interesting
What is your location? New York Comments: A few fun facts about the "new project":
Helena Bonham Carter had to audition with Sondheim (as well as Johnny Depp) and get his approval for her to be in the movie. Both she and Depp have been working with vocal coaches. The recording for some of the tracks is supposed to begin in December. The movie is going to be distributed in the US by Paramount for Dreamworks and internationally by Warner Bros. The screenplay was written by Jon Logan who did the screenplays for Gladiator and Aviator. And the funniest from a report in the "Daily Express" in October is from a source who said, "Johnny is always very conscientious in his roles. He has to get into the mindset of a serial killer. He wants to feel adept with the razor blades, to feel as if they were an extension of his arm. He is terrifying everyone close to him by walking around his home booming out the songs, making an arc with his arm when he slits a person's throat."
Umm...ok!

Wow, the interview! Though I'd like to see a better version of it. And Sweeny Todd?? I've seen it...the play anyway. I doubt he is playing Sweeny Todd himself... but I don't remember any other characters except the daughter and the lady who runs the meat pie shop! The only song I remember is "Johanna."

Comments: OMFG. Alan Rickman and Johnny Depp. Oh god oh god. So do y'all think that AR's gonna play the judge? Yet another baddie for him! This is going to be ultimate hotness. The only annoying thing is that apparently Depp, Carter, even Rickman I guess will be singing the parts. And frankly, I doubt they're good enough for the job though I'm sure the multitudes of sound people will make it good using electronics, like in Moulin Rouge. I wish they went the Disney route and got real singers for the songs. Yeah blasphemy blah blah, but remember that part where AR sang in Truly, Madly, Deeply? Sure it was cute and all but it was seriously taxing to my ears. Verrrry out of tune. Again, the sound people will fix that for Sweeney Todd as they're going to be singing in earnest and not just for cuteness. I'm kicking myself for not seeing the revival when I had the chance. My friend was completely obsessed with it and went like six times and baked cupcakes for the cast, haha. Stahhhhlker.

Comments: Thanks, Carolyn. Can I ask the source?

What is your location? Quebec Comments: I'm glad a lot of you could see the Hour interview.I thought it was quite well presented, though it seemed to be very planned.I mean that I'm sure all the questions were discussed in advance therefore explaining why AR did not in any way seem taken by surprise by any question. It was quite a surprise for me though when he announced that Sweeny Todd was his next project. That was kept pretty much under wraps til now. Also have we ever heard AR discussing politics in an interview like this before? I had to laugh at the beginning when GS said that AR had been voted one of the sexiest men on the planet, then the clip from DH was shown when Hans said"I must have missed that 60 Minutes, what are you saying?" Alfan, if it makes you feel any better, the cold lousy weather you've been having out west is making its way here now.Yesterday it was 15 degrees and sunny, today it's 1 and freezing rain, with snow in the forecast.
What is your location? New York Comments: LOL..I do know what you mean! One other piece of info I found out: The International Press Academy announced today their nominations for the 11th annual Satellite Awards (sometimes considered a pretty good precurser to the glut of award ceremonies for the year. Unfortunately, "Snow Cake" and "Perfume" were nominated for absolutely 0!!! I hope that changes when the whole awards season begins!
Comments: Thanks, Carolyn. I'm just trying to figure out how long he will be involved (so he can get back over here and do that play he says he wants to do!). *snort*
What is your location? New York Comments: Cats, as far as I can tell, the movie is being shot in England beginning Jan.2007. Yeah, the last incarnation was on Broadway in 2005-2006 with Patti LuPone. It was a rather different take on the original production because the cast members played instruments (very weird!) I think it won a couple of Tonys, one for best director of a musical (IIRC) and won quite a few Drama Desk Awards. The complete libretto is on line (if you want to take a look) at: http://libretto.musicals.ru/text.php?textid=334&language=1
It's difficult to say about his part because it really depends on what kind of "artistic liberties" Burton is going to take.
What is your location? Canada Comments: I think we will be seeing a bit of Alan in the future as it is definitly AR PR time. He has Snow Cake, Perfume, Noble Son and MNIRC to promote ( probably negotiating bringing MNIRC here to Canada too). He sure is spending alote of time away from you folks in London thought. It even looks like he is spending some time in Canada. But watch out Alan, the snow blizzard we had here yesterday is heading your way with 60kl winds, and a temp of -40 with the windchill. But i am sure he will be home for Christmas, probably misses Rima. )( although i think she is in NY or was in NY at one time)

There have been so many new names here this month, its been hard for me to keep up. I just want to welcome you all to our group. I've been an AWOL quite a bit over the last few months but I want you to know that I am soooo tickled to see you here and I hope you will stick with us for a long time to come.
Yall, add my name to CatsPlay. I'd be glad to convert a tape or digital recording to DVD as well!
emilia and Alfan!!!! Thank you so much for your in depth report from last night's interview!!! OMG....another movie!
Fi, thank you for sharing your picture! You and emilia are NOT tech challenged...yall did a fine job!
I've been contacted by another fan that wants to share some pictures too but we are just started to work on the logisitics so it might be a little while.
CatsPlay, thanks for the link on the HIV testing event. I think that event is a wonderful idea and I am so proud that AR is a part of it. Also, thanks for being so quick on getting the interview up for download. I have vowed to update my site after the first of the year! LOL
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.Rickmanalysis.com Comments: Carolyn,
Wasn't a revival on Broadway just last year or earlier this year? I remember reading a report that Teh Man went to see it.
I wonder where this will be filmed?
I'm really not familiar with this piece. If he plays the judge, how large of a part is it?
Comments: If anyone who has recorded this is willing to share a DVD or videotape copy, please contact me (email link on this post). I would be glad to digitize it to DVD if you are not technically able.
What is your location? New York Comments: It seems so weird for him to be in Sweeney Todd! I wonder if it all came about when Helena Bonham Carter was cast as Bellatrix in OOTP (replacing Helen McCrory). The movie is supposed to begin shooting in January'07 and it's not even completely cast yet.
When the play was on Broadway (I think 1980), it won every Tony Award that year (best musical...actor(Len Cariou) best actress(Angela Lansbury) best director(definitely one of the best, IMO, Hal Prince) best original score (Stephen Sondheim) and the list goes on!!
Alan Rickman singing Stephen Sondheim! Well, that should certainly be interesting, considering how, umm, extremely anal Sondheim is regarding how his songs are sung!
This was a really great interview! I think he looked and sounded great. There'll probably be more news about him in the next few weeks with "Snow Cake" and "Perfume" getting ready to premiere in the States.
What is the URL of your HomePage? (include "http://") http://www.Rickmanalysis.com Comments: I've uploaded an edited, downloadable version to my LJ. It includes the opening music/show intro, the beginning piece where the host talks about the first time he saw Die Hard, and the interview.

Yes, I'm using the full version to edit in the opening of the show, where the guy talks about seeing Die Hard in the theater, etc.
Comments: Becky
Those numbers don't jive with what I'm seeing, but the last thing they talk about is whether Alan was in the KGB, from what I can see.

Comments: I've downloaded the video. Will edit it down to just Rickman related content and will upload.

Comments: Don't know if it's new, but here's a video on You Tube of a Spanish Making of Perfume show. It shows AR/Richis striding through the members - of the crowd of nekkid people (and some other interesting views). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SiptRZwBy0

Hiya Alfan we are the lucky ones tonight aren't we?Upun further scrutiny I have a couple of corrections to make.He was not wearing a black jacket but a dark blue pinstripe, he must have a few of these....The shoes were shiny black but with a good outdoor tread. The dark grey shirt was untucked as usual, and the way he was sort of slouched crookedly in the chair, showed off the pudge. It was also quite evident that he laughs right from the belly, an especially good example was when George asked him about the latest HP movie, and AR laughingly told him he should read the book. The whole belly moved up and in, I should know I watched it up close up umpteen times or more......

I should read down first before i speak. I have to agree with Emilia, i dont know if he was totally comfortable. He was enjoyable, he did laugh, make a few jokes, talked with his hands and made one heck of a " orafice" comment. His attire is as Emilia says and i did happen to look at his shoes, she is right, they were not dress shoes but casual black shoes. ( and lovely jeans, glad to say he finally got rid of those patch jeans he was seen in so often, these ones were new and dark denim, sexily tight too if you dont mind me saying but then again , he is famous for wearing pants that are a wee bit to tight on him {according to the salesclerk in Phitsburg}).
And not only are we going to be blessed with seeing Alan and Johnny on the big screen together ( one of my fantasies, ok, not really but you get the picture) but we get to hear him sing a duet with Johnny. Im going to reserve judgment on that one.
night all,got myself a bit of a cold. .
Alfan |
My god, where does this man come up with some of his saying, oh my Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman.
COULD WE ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE!!
Great interview. I hope its on line soon so you can all enjoy it. He was halarious yet serious.
Alan and all his pudginess, things dreams are made of. im going to sleep so well tonight.
( lets hope he doesnt migrate to Australia, hee hee)

He's not playing the rival barber, he's playing Judge Turpin.
emilia |
Oh my look at that the link worked!!!!That was fun I'll try another....The clip of the AR interview should be up on the CBC site tomorrow, I think.
Until then here is a bit about Sweenty Todd;
Carolyn |
I am so very glad you got to watch the show! Maybe it makes up, in a small way, for the TIFF!
Interesting about "Sweeney Todd"...The movie is supposed to begin filming in January with Helena Bonham Carter & Tim Burton. A couple of weeks ago, Sacha Baron Cohen was supposed to have signed on to play the rival villain barber and then a couple of days ago, Burton said Cohen wasn't in it!
Hmmm...I wonder....
emilia |
Here is , I hope, the link for The Hour website
The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos on CBC Television
Hopefully this will work, as I am known to be quite tecnologically challenged.

Thanks, emilia! AR and Johnny Depp, together?
